LG Nexus 4 (8Gb) - $720 - not official with 3m. warranty. Its just a dream for me. LG Nitro HD I can by for $350
And yes Waiting for AOSP GB Device config and patches needed to get it booted and about with vendor tree ! and why don't you just make new git repo and make branches ! that would be much better

I was also looking for a new device and found the acer cloudmobile s500. It's like a sg3, but only €300. Sadly there's no forum for it on xda , although there are a lot of requests. If you buy it, you can start developing for it, and once there's development there will be a forum, and you'll be our hero once again

Anyone to postulate on this comment?
Need to keep digging, but I could not find the info in the kernel. Is the gps the same infamous bcm4751? All drivers here refer to bcm47xx...

2.3 Source available now
Now only time will tell what great things the Dev community will do
Just a word of the wise from JBQ:
"Even though Nexus S is designed to be suitable for AOSP work, there
are some caveats. I very strongly recommend against trying to use
Nexus S for anything related to AOSP at the moment. Trying to unlock
or use your Nexus S for AOSP work could easily turn it into a Nexus B
(where B means "brick"); I have two of those, they're not very useful.
I'll send some guidelines about what is currently possible once I've
finished pushing the source code.

not really.. SenseUI with its libraries are on a NEON cpu based platform, so its highly unlikely that it will be ported, unless HTC start using a non-NEON base CPU so it becomes compatible..
Is it possible to develop a stock android build for this phone that uses the two cores?

MIUI roms require a NEON ARMv7 compatible cpu, tegra2 is not :-(
so until a japanese dude will compile the miui rom from bottom (which i doubt as it made for desire), this type of rom will not appear.. same goes with htc sense roms.

I haven't got any update on mine, probably because it is Global right? In my Software Update section the "Next check for Updates" is set to April 1st, 2011 so I guess that is the date for LG's official Gingerbread launch. Also if I try to check for updates manually it says it can't find the server...so it is not even up yet

Sorry no, I appreciate the effort but this has been covered countless times and you should really look at the ICS thread which is stickied!. The ZTE was launched a few weeks ago with ICS, it was decided that the fact it wasnt based on the Star platform (LG phones!) that it was useless and even the way they implemented ICS was poor so nothing at all to learn. This was confirmed by a EB dev unfortunately, and many people before like Ricardo at some point and he is pretty much top dog in terms of getting an official response .
However a different point is that out of all the devices that were launched without ICS this is the first to get it, it makes sense that Nvidia must have finally given out the required documents etc to OEMs as they are all around similar time frames, Paul at Modaco has just said it is in testing and due soon and he has sources at LG along with him being a respected dev, not the crap media reporters like GSM arena who spout random poop.
So yes it looks like we will get ICS within the month since you showed that the Samsung has now got it, the Samsung Galaxy R/Z is due soon as well so its all happening now . Samsung have a bigger dev team and havent had to make massive cuts so its understandable that an LG release will take a bit longer.
Now long now!.

The exact ZTE you mentioned, the ZTE Mimosa X... please just google it or follow this link : http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/zte-grand-x-review-50007061/ there are alot of other sites covering this device and it will be on sale at virgin UK shortly.
And yes I have read this whole thread which is why I decided to reply, you are interested but unfortunately this is stuff we cant use to our benefit, we have to wait for an LG optimus phone with a t2 SoC to have hope, basically it needs to be LG star... theres more to a phone than just the SoC drivers.
The only importance about this leak is that Samsung now has a ROM for Tegra 2 based on ICS, this means that the drivers are finally being used by the OEM and implies that since the rest of the industry has taken along time that they will be nearing completion as well, we know that the o2x rom should be out fairly soon so its a question of when not if anymore.
TLR It cant help us, we need an LG phone with tegra 2 SoC to even come close to helping but best bet is to wait for O2x ICS which is on its way .

Also I think I personally will stick with Stock on my personal device, but maybe someone will use this as a jumping-off point for an improved ROM.

According to the Android documentation, source is about 8.5GB, then goes up to 30GB for a single build.
Thanks for this OP. Currently learning how to build from source. I was going to start with pure AOSP, but I got too excited for Paranoid Android 4.0. I set everything up and the build is compiling right now as I type this, but your guide is a lot more informative than the one I used. It would be good to build AOSP just because it's base android, but I really wanted PA haha. Anyways it's really in-depth and I'm sure I'll learn a thing or seven from it. Thanks

Eager to learn, my friend! Once I get familiar with the build process I plan to learn how to cherry pick commits / fix errors arising from cherry picking said commits. The PA build failed last night, but EvanA told me that would happen. They merged 4.4.1 and updated blobs so the build should work now. I just synced their source again and it is building now. Once I get a few successful builds I'll dive into all that. I really dig threads like this. We had a developer support thread in the gnex forum. I did a lot of reading over there, but hadn't got into building yet. That has to be one of my favorite things about the nexus. Community support. I mean I had a PA team member help teach me how to build their unreleased ROM. Awesome.

Yes, I'm hoping more developers will switch to this device and will start working on booting and running CM as smooth as possible. I just ordered my note 4 yesterday, I still have to wait 2 weeks to receive my device (I don't live in a snapdragon country), hoping to work together with some other devs but if not, going to give booting CM myself a try and will update and report here for sure !
I'm new to the Note line so I have a question. Does the S-Pen work (just work, non of the fancy features) with custom Roms or do devs need to optimize it?
I would love to see it running Lollipop.

The spen will work on any rom but samsung specific apps like snote will only work on samsung based roms. On cm based roms there are alternative apps like papyrus and on the note 2 there were specific spen apps made for cm roms so guess the same thing will probably happen on the n4

"This forum is intended for XDA members to find or discuss development on the Galaxy Note 4, including ROMs, kernels, rooting, mods and much more, specifically for the Qualcomm Snapdragon variant of the Note 4."
Sounds like the right place to me.
Anyway on topic: here's the general porting method: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro and here the samsung code: http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=910f
Unfortunately going by what Samsung released previously, we'll need code directly from Qualcomm, did anybody find chipset code for the 805 already ?
And here's the Lollipop Nexus 6 (of course also running snapdragon 805) code:

Oh and also found this thread, should be helpful to get a start: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532873
Anyway, getting my device in 2 weeks, hopefully around that time CM12 will be released too, mabye we should wait for that anyway, but I wanted to start this thread already to function as a knowledge sharing thread regarding getting cyanogenmod running on the Note 4. Going to do some digging in the sources codes already and see what's there and what's missing.

Sorry but I really miss your point man. This is development and most importantly, this is Snapdragon: this thread has really not much to do with Exynos (which most likely will never even run CM12, at least not in the next year), so I really don't see in which forum it would be more ontopic than this one. If you disagree, let me know in which forum you feel it should be posted in and why and if it makes sense, I'll ask the mod, but again, I really don't see it.

Wow, that's really wonderful news, you made my day man, thanks !!! :good: :fingers-crossed: Can't wait to flash it (need to wait 2 weeks to get my hands on the device though, damn, hehe). I've done quite a bit of work on the i9500, Ironing out bugs by reverse engineering stock ROM and my goal is to make CM12 on our Note 4 the best Cyanogenmod experience so far ! Man, really cant wait !
I just got mine yeaterday im super excited. I'm really surprised how steady it feels in hands. It doesn't feel like a Samsung device at all. My babe is already rooted and unlocked just waiting on lollipop
