Hello All,
I need to ask that how can I update my firmware to official 4.0 if I am not on AT&T network. Currently I have HTC Vivid but I am in Pakistan where no AT&T service available and when I tried to check software update it says server unavailable. Can any one tell me any other safe process to update the firmware beside the rooting ? as I am lazy to read things and once I bricked the captivate so after that I am afraid to do such things.
Thanks in advance.
What you can do is head over to HTC's US site to download the RUU (ROM Update Utility) for the HTC Vivid (Assuming yours has "AT&T" on the top of the phone).
Link: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-vivid-att/software-updates
Don't forget to install HTC Sync and read all documentation involved.

Scroll down to #6, disregard relocking the bootloader and whatnot, read "FIRST OPTION (RUU)."
However, just type in "HTC Vivid drivers" into Google (or our favorite search engine) to find and download (then install) the drivers for your phone. Then just run the RUU and follow the instructions.
I am unable to find the driver anywhere on the web. Found one thread where the said to download the driver from here but when I clicked their I found all things except drivers
website link: http://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-root-your-htc-vivid-38377/
Driver Link in the website: http://windows-device-driver-htc-android-usb-de.software.informer.com/download/
Pls help guys

Hey, do you mind walking us through how you got it to work for you?
---------- Post added at 07:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:55 AM ----------
For anyone reading this and still stuck on trying, here are the steps I did that worked for me:
Go to: http://www.htc.com/us/support/news.aspx?p_id=551&p_name=htc-vivid-att
Install The 'HTC Vivid RUU software
Run the .exe software
Connect your phone via USB cable to a computer
Once connect, go back to YOUR PHONE, and Choose the USB option "HTC SYNC'. It should the 3 rd, and 1st on the column. You don't need to have the HTC sync software installed on your computer. Just select that option on your phone.
Once that's done, go back to the software on the computer, and follow the steps to get you through the update.
Kick back, relax and let the software do its thing.
Once done, you may now enjoy your updated HTC Vivid :good:
I hope that helps !

i would think so, but when i connect the usb i am able to copy files from the computer to my phone, but when i run the RUU i get the message that says i should check to see if the usb is connected to the computer and the phone
when you run the ruu is your phone only charging, or are you mounting it? if you're mounting it, don't. also try a different cable. also you could try downloading and installing htc sync maybe and see if it updates your drivers.

Well it would be nice if you would post how you fixed it. You posted asking for help with your problem and you received it. Now what if some other member has the same problem.??? Your post could potentially help someone in the future. XDA is all about gaining knowledge and sharing that knowledge as well.

As tpblake notes, this problem is usually associated with the HTC drivers.
Try installing the drivers given on the Revolutionary page
OR
try installing HTC software (Sync i think?) which contains these drivers.
it should work

Hello Everyone
Yesterday I tried to get my Nexus 7 with adb-Drivers working.
At this point, my HTC-Driver for my IncS was working. it was.
Now the Nexus 7 Driver and HTC Driver are completly messed up after i tried to install the nexus 7 driver. None of them is working. When I connect one of my IncS, Windows will search for Drivers but cancel this with: "No Driver found".
When I go into the Device-Manager, it shows my IncS as Android Phone in Other Devices. (See attached Screenshot)
I tried 1000times removing and reinstalling the HTC-Driver but this didn't help, Windows don't find any driver for this. HTC Sync is also don't recognize any phone, adb either.
Tried to go back with System Restore, but the Driver-Problem is still here.
Please help me, I need this driver working for syncing my phone.
Have a nice day
MrToastbrot
Try a right click on android phone in device manager, choose install driver and guide it manually to folder inside Program Files (x86)\HTC. There you have 2 folders HTC Driver and HTC BMP USB Driver just try with both.
Thanks for your help. But i found it another way:
Go to device manager, choose android phone and then update drivers.
Choose Search on Computer, then Search in a list of installed drivers.
Then goto list all drivers. Goto HTC Corpartion and take MyHTC.
Now its working. That dumb Windows never removed the HTC-Driver, but was too stupid to realise, that it should use this driver for the IncS...
Yes, your Win got stucked searching IncS drivers in Nexus folders cause you confused it with another phone connected. I had problems even with 2 HTC phones (Desire and IncS), so a few times it got stucked while i was trying to downgrade and install BlackRose, and that was a real pain in the ass...
With 2 HTC's I never had problems. It always worked fine with my Wildfire and Incredible S. But the Nexus 7 has messed up everything...
But thanks for your help, my phone is working now (with adb)
HTC Sync setup_1.1.66.0_htc not installing
Hi,
I recently bought a HTC one X, upgraded it to Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I had the connect to PC option in ICS before which now does not exist. The problem is, when i try to install the HTC Sync setup_1.1.66.0_htc, it gives me the error "The files for installation requirement checkandremoveoldhtcdriver could not be found. The installation will now stop. This is probably due to a failed, or cancelled downoad."
I have removed all possible HTC drivers that i found in the computer. I am using a Windows 7 Home premium X86 OS.
Need help! Googled and googled but have not found a solution so far.Called up HTC and they dont have a clue.

Well..decided to do a fresh install of my OS. 1st thing i did after the reinstall of OS is to install the HTC driver and Viola! it worked. Able to use all services on HTC now.
i have a sprint htc one.
i unlocked the bootloader via htcdev site.
then flashed latest twrp (v2.6.3.0, clockwork wouldn't flash)
flashed latest supersu.
then obtained s-off through xda (hboot 1.55 before then 1.44 after. maybe did something wrong?)
having issues with "no sim card - 4g lte will not work as sim/uicc is removed. please insert sprint sim/uicc into the device"
tried to relock it so i cant take it in to get that fixed.
did the adb oem lock thing to obtain 'tampered' 'relocked'
tried to flash RUU 1.something.7 and 1.something.10
the RUU 1.something.10 wouldn't even try to go
then the RUU 1.something.7 (also it said current image was 3.something but i couldn't find a RUU for 3.something) tried and failed in the middle
since that failure my phone isn't recognized while in fastboot, but works to access all the files on it
so i'm stuck on s-off hboot 1.44 'tampered' 'relocked' but my supersu seems to still function ok (titanium backup works) and i can still boot into recovery twrp.
my short term goal is to get back to 100% stock to get my simcard issue resolved through sprint or htc or whatever, i don't know what that's about.
my long term goal is to have my 4g working/simcard thing fixed running a custom rom. ie cyanogenmod or something 4.4 kitkat.
any help would be awesome, thank you guys!
Just an FYI, 100% stock is not needed to have Sprint look at it. You can have an unlocked/tampered bootloader and custom recovery and still be within Sprint's S&R policy for warranty issues. However, your ROM must be stock (can still be rooted) so that the technicians are not faced with issues potentially related to poor/incompatible ROM development and code. Essentially, the Sprint tech will want to do a hard reset on the device, and it will need to appear to be stock after the reset so that they can rule out the software causing the issue. If they give you any hassle about the root, tell them to check their M&Ps.
Grab a Stock Rooted ROM and try to flash in recovery, see if that works.
sorry, guess i left out that i been to sprint once for this already, and they said they fixed it yet it came back only 2 days later. but in between those 2 days is when i did all the rooting supersu and s-off cause i thought i was done with them for now. i thought that since the problem was persisting that they might have to check with or send to htc and then they would see it unlocked and rooted etc.
anyway, i haven't actually flashed any roms yet so i should still be stock + rooted. but i'll do as you suggested.
thank you!
Are you on Windows 8 or 8.1?
I'm running windows 8.1. i've been able to work on the phone with windows 8.1 until just recently with the problem i described. also i just flashed a stock rooted rom for 3.04.651.2 (first link in second post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467607 )
my phone is near dead so i'm charging now before i try testing fastboot again.
also, was there a known issue using windows 8.1? when my phone stopped responding in fastboot i noticed that i couldn't get the htc sync thing to open anymore either. but ican still access data on phone from pc normally.
edit: still getting devices not recognized when i plug my phone in while in fastboot =\
When running and RUU from 3.04 to an older version you will have issues right now with fastboot after the RUU reboots the device into RUU mode. If you go from 3.04 to 3.04 then you will have no issues whatsoever, trust me. I have had the same issues but fixed them by thanking the people who hooked us up with the 3.04 RUU link.

Also, one more thing. In order for you to get fastboot working again you just need to uninstall forms of anything HTC as far as drivers and sync. No need to reinstall fastboot and adb add-ons from SDK though. Once you do this you will be golden but dont forget to unplug your device. . . at the same time people dont think to also go into Device Manager and select "View" and enable "Show hidden devices" and this will show you all of the drivers that have been installed even if they are unplugged so look at all of the categories that any HTC One drivers can be installed in to ensure you havent forgotten any of them and then start over by reinstalling the HTC Drivers all over again.

edit: went and plugged the phone in and let the drivers auto detect/install that way. tried fastboot and still isn't being recognized...
There are compatibility issues between HTC Sync and Windows 8.1 from what I have read, though I am not sure that the issue you are having falls into this category. Do you have another PC available to try this on?
no other pc available that doesn't have windows 8.1
i followed some instructions to use adb with ubuntu (partitioned and install ubuntu along side win8.1 specifically for my phone) followed instructions and either i don't know what i'm doing because i don't know a thing about linux anything or it isn't being recognized that way either. =\
I accidentally posted this in HTC wrong section. There I found out this to be a Sprint one.

The issue I have is seen below.

All I can get to from the phone is what you see in the picture.
I need a good ROM for this.
Please advice what I should do.
Thanks
It appears to be a Sprint One
You can fix it by running the RUU found HERE
thnx bigdaddy619.
Are u sure it would do the trick.
I believe I have to update thru sync manager.
I downloaded the HTC sync manager and and tried to see if it detects the phone.
I don't think it does cause I do not see my phone android version or sense version or anything in sync manager.
I can see the Android USB Device in the device manager. I believe the USB drivers are installed. The phone changes to FASTBOOT USB when I connect the USB cable. Means the phone enters FASTBOOT automatically.
Do I still go about download the RUU ROM from HTC and try it?
The HTC sync app says it cannot find device

search a little dude, that problem has been solved a hundred times in the sprint forum
It worked. Changed some settings.
Now another problem.... Installed TWRP and restarted. Now back to square one. Same as before.
But it does boot to TWRP but not to OS.
Update gives an unknown error 115.
So removed TWRP. Now it is stuck in HTC logo with white background not black original boot logo. It won't turn off. So had to let the battery go down to shutdown. Now charging. Will try the original ROM again and post back.
sorry
