[Q] Please your help! - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please , I need your help!
My Samsung Galaxy Tab 7'' after downgrade from 4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich to 2.4.3 Gingerbread version of android stuck on samsung logo and I see the below message during the flashing:
-Updating application
E:Failed to mount /data (Invalid argument)
E: install_application_for customer: Can't mount /data
your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions.
Copy application failed.
What is the UI menu and how using it I can format and reboot my tablet?
The proccess that I used is:
1.open odin , check the checkboxes Re-Partition, Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time and put the .pit file on the PIT site and the .md5 on the PDA site and press start to begin the flashing after you put the tablet on the download mode (pressing together volume down and power buttons)
2.after flashing put your tablet again in download mode and this time check only Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time and put the dbdata folder in PDA site and press again start.
3.After the second flashing put your tablet on Recovery mode (Pressing volume up and power buttons together) and choose first wipe cache and second wipe data factory reset ,choose yes to the question and choose Reboot to finish the process of flashing.
The above error message appears before the second step of this guide and as I told you before after flashing the tablet stays stack to samsung logo screen and doesn't go to the welcome screen.
If I delete all data of my tablet, can I reinstall them again, following the above guide with steps?
If yes, what is the tool to do this?

I found the solution by myself.
The solution is so easy.
As I told us before, I was remembering that when I had the same problem I had download from the internet a file and when I flashing my tab everything were done.
Searching I discover this file.
This file is: GT-P1000-CSC-SERJJ2.tar.
When you put this on the PDA site and flash your tab everything will be fine and your tab will unstuck from samsung logo screen and to go to the welcome screen to make your settings.

Have you tried to reflash your Galaxy with Odin?
Downloads:
Odin
JM5 Firmware PASS: samsung-firmwares.com
PIT 512
Howto:
1.Open ODIN. (And close Kies, if you have it open. It is important to have ODIN open BEFORE connection the phone via USB!)
2.Select the PDA/Modem/CSC/.PIT files in Odin. (PDA=CODE, .PIT and PDA are required. CSC and Modem are HIGHLY recommended. They may be necessary depending on the PDA! Try flashing all three BEFORE reporting bugs, if you only used one initially!)
3.Remove the SD card and SIM card from the phone.
4.Turn the phone into the download mode by pressing and holding VolumeDown+Home+Power.
5.Connect your phone with your computer and wait until the drivers are installed.
6.If the drivers are installed, click Start.
7.The phone will be flashed and once it’s finished, it will boot up. (Do NOT disconnect the usb-cable, remove the battery or otherwise interrupt this process!)
8.You have successfully flashed your phone.

Your SGS is not broken you are just doing things without the right knowlegde.
Don't do things you don't understand !!!
Read before you do something !!!
Yes i have flashed mtimes with odin and successfully but this time its differrent i can't flash any rom and i keep having that error above
Welll it worked when i changed the .pit file which came with Odin to your .pit file and mine was 513 yours 512...but at the end when it booted there was one red line about some sytem ... it went fast so i could'nt read it but anyway thnx alot
You always have to use the correct PIT File for a Firmware.

Stuck without a OS

Good Morning
Very ironic, but i came here to ask about rooting my phone a year back and now i'm back in sort of the same situation..
A year back I rooted my froyo 2.2.1 based Galaxy S to a gingerbread version, then i used quite a few of the ICS roms available on this forum, had been using Cyanogen for the past few months.Yesterday i had some free time,so i thought would check out the JB roms available.
So i did the usual, download the JB version of Fishears since i had a iNand.put it in my internal sdcard..but i could not access the memory card from CWM 5.0.2.7..,so i put it in my external memory card and tried to run the zip from there, but the process got aborted in the middle, tried it twice, dint work.
Then i remembered i had faced this internal memory problem before, had to go and switch on the debugging mode in the developer option.[P.S:- i had been facing the encryption successful problem for half a year, was too lazy/busy to fix it,i just took it in my stride and rebooted a lot to get into the homepage]
So,I'm in CWM and i run the usual process and run the zip file from the internal sdcard,it started out fine, them BOOM.my phone reboots all of a sudden. When it restarts,it does not have a OS to boot into, the green android image with a red exclamation mark and a few text appears which happens too fast to read and it keeps rebooting and this process goes on.
I can still access CWM and the download mode,i tried going into CWM but the internal sd doesnt open and the zip file fails to mount from the external sd.
So i thought **** it,i'll do the rooting part again and i run up ODIN,download the semaphore 2.7.4 kernel, and i see it is just 15 mb or so,i remembered i used more than 1 file and used the pit folder also, but i read it on the semaphore website, its only 1 file and have to use it as the PDA.went to download mode and odin recognised it and the process completed without a hitch,it even showed a green PASS..
but the problem came when it had to reboot after the process,it got stuck in the "Galaxy S GT I9000" page and never moved forward.it was there for 30 minutes or so before i pulled out the battery.
Basically
1.I cant get past that page
2.I can access the CWM and Download modes
3.I accepted my mistake and thought of not doing any more mistakes,so icame here
4.When i boot into CWM mode, these errors come
E:failed to open/etc/recovery.fstab (No such file or directory)

Cant access the external sd from the CWM now
I dont mind any os now,as long as i can take calls.Am leaving college for home by train day after,so i need a working os as soon as possible

I had this problem with Paranoid Android before... the zip was corrupt.
If you are able to extract the rom with winrar/winzip/totalcmd or other program, install it, if it is corrupt, download it again again and again...

I followed the steps given in the EZ recovery mode,it crashed into the same e3 recovery mode, for the heck of it i flashed the CFROOT which was provided and it worked fine..all disks were mounted fine and no errors in cwm,
went into Mounts and storage and formatted everything apart from boot and followed the rest of samtans advice
It crashed into the same e3 Rec mode again with the same meta data error message
any suggestions guys, atleast now i'm hopeful after seeing that CWM screen without any errors

Ok dont know whether this is good or bad
I installed CM9 from the external sd as the internal sd was inaccesible in any way..the installation showed info like
"the internal sd card marker could not be found
Going ahead with installation"
the installation continues and restarts once and updates but it does not boot into the main page,it directly goes into the Encryption Unsuccessful page. When i try Reset Phone,it goes into the CWM recovery screen with some errors,
when i try to install CM10 from this recvery screen,it initially stops the installation saying the data partition layout is different and all my data will be wiped.run the .zip to go ahead with the progress.I run this it goes directly into the CWM 6.0._._ and it doesnt show any errors,i try to reboot it gets stuck on the galaxy s screen.
this situation is better than the previous condition as i know a OS can still run on my Phone..Just need to get this thing rectified now
Please if anyone could help me right now,i would be really grateful..not able to contact anyone without my phone
It might be a hardware problem... I had something similar

I installed Cyanogen 9 and got through tht EU page by restarting abut 20 times or so,now i'm trying to install a working version of gapps in it.Tried 1 but the setup failed,so i flashed back to Cyanogen 9 and am not touching it till i reach home.a device capable of making and taking calls is better than nothing..
Is there a way to download contacts from gmail without gapps, the play store is not included in the original rom and i'm hesitant to go into CWM recovery mode as i will have to tackle the EU page again
Anyways thanks for your help, will have to fix this problem once and for all after i reach home

Who says?
Which Rom are you trying to use and what are you coming from?
If flashing ODIN for JVU Rom :
Use ODIN with PIT File
PIT File Incase you need it : LINK
Open Odin and select 512 .PIT, and put in your files for : CSC, PDA, MODEM.
Check Re-partition and don't touch any other settings.
Turn off your phone and put it in download mode by holding VOL DOWN+MENU+POWER.
Attach Phone
When you have all the files needed in ODIN, say JVU Rom for example as thats what we are using here
Click Start let it Run
Once complete you will see S logo on phone
Unplug Phone > Let it power up then Power Off > Again into Download mode
Then plug in Phone
Click Reset on ODIN then in PDA put in CF-Root Kernel File for JVU to be Rooted *File is included in ODIN Files*
Same again when you see S Logo on Phone unplug Phone Cable
Close ODIN
Let phone boot up ....
What I do now is go into
Settings > SD Card and Storage > Unmount SD and Wipe that and then at the bottom Wipe Format USB Storage
Before doing this make sure you have what you need from the phone as it will ERASE everything!
Enable USB Debugging by going to Settings > Applications > Development > Check USB Debugging
Plug in Phone and copy over your chosen Custom ROM that you want
Reboot into Recovery : VOL UP + MENU + POWER
Wipe the 4 things (probably know these... you should do)
If not you choose these by using the left side keys on the phone and to apply changes click Menu key
WIPE : data/factory reset > cache partition
Scroll down and go to advanced
Dalvik Cache > Battery stats
Go Back
Install ZIP (ROM) from Zip Card
Reboot Phone when complete... DONE!
Hope this helps a lot of people if not just ask here if you are still having issues to save peole posting same questions again and again
I made up the first part, but after the phone went into recovery mode

Helpppp
I have exactly the same problem. I had froyo 2.2 im new to this odin all these settings. Yesterday i was tried rooting my phone and I did. but after I mounted a courrupted rom from the recovery. and my android doesn't want to load. I followed the same instructions you just gave him. on these posts but now when i turn on the phone its the logo comes and nothing loads. Only Downloading VOL DWN + MENU + PW is working.
Are you talking to me devildrake? No, your problem is different and you need to flash the rom again too, not just dbdata lol. Do this.
Flash Gingerbread, in Odin (I always used JW4 but JVU will be fine) with 512 pit file and repartition checked. Untick reboot. Once its finished, unplug the USB cable and take the battery out. Put the battery back in and boot into download mode. Reset Odin. USB cable back in. Tick reboot again. Put dbdata.rfs in PDA. Flash.
Should boot into gingerbread. I've done this a LOT of times... Then you can go back to Odin and root.
If that doesn't work then I'd download a different version of GB, download new 512 pit, and download a new dbdata.rfs. Must be one of those corrupt.

Unbrick guide! 99,9% WORKING! (Repairs the unrepairable!!)

HEY PEEPS!!!
I have great news for you all! Now i'll tell you my experience:
I flashed a custom rom, but something went wrong, and i needed to restore with odin. Now comes the problem, even after restoring with odin IN EVERY DIFFERENT WAY, i wasn't able to format my /data partition. (trust me i tried every method, from odin in many ways to ext4 formatter to flashing another rom, nothing worked). If you know, stock recovery should ALWAYS be able to wipe data, as it uses a special binary script to format the partitions.
IN THIS CASE THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE, and it gave an error: "E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl11".
NOW I COME WITH THE SOLUTION: everything i did is CREATE AN ODIN PDA.TAR WITH A "FAKE" USERDATA.IMG
It actually worked for me, and it should also for you!
So, if you're getting BOOTLOOP and "E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl11" on stock recovery, here we are.
NOTE: You can use this guide also for restore to stock firmware, but this is made mainly for /data partition error.
HERE WE GO
1) Download this RAR DOWNLOAD FROM MEDIAFIRE
2) UNRAR and open odin, remove your phone battery, hold VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, and, when still holding the buttons, plug in the USB cable connected to PC.
3) Assure that ODIN shows "ADDED!" in the messages, if not, install samsung kies.
4) Put the packages in this way:
- PDA_XXMB2_with_userdata.tar ---> in PDA section
- BOOTLOADER_XXLB1_REV00.tar ---> in BOOTLOADER (or BOOT) section
- CSC_ITVMC1.tar (not mandatory) ---> in CSC section
- PHONE_XXMB2.tar ---> in PHONE section
5) Press start and wait the process to finish.
6) When finished, re-plug the phone battery in (still having the phone connected to the pc). Now the phone will turn on. If you installed also CSC.tar then it will boot to recovery to install an upadte.zip and automatically reboots.
7)IMPORTANT PASS: Unplug usb cable, remove and re-plug the battery, press POWER+VOLUME UP+HOME until the screen turns on, the phone will boot in recovery mode. DO A WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET, NOW IT SHOULD NO MORE GIVE "E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl11" AND THERE YOU GO!
This was the only method that worked for me. Grazie mille!

SAMSUNG Galaxy NOTE 8(Stuck In Boot Loop Even After Flash Stock ROM via Odin)

Dear All Respectful Professional,
I didn't flash any custom/stock ROMS before this. The phone started to stuck at boot loop during my last restart. During that time, I realise my phone got a bit of lagging/unresponsive touching so I decided to hold the power button for a while and chose restart. This is where my phone started to keep on rebooting to SAMSUNG Logo at first, after several times of reboot It keeps constantly reboot before SAMSUNG Logo appears.
I try to do a soft reset which is power button + volume down, where I thought this might help but end up nothing as well. So I am trying to boot into recovery menu which is power button + Bixby button + volume up, but nothing happened. So far there are only two types of a button which remain functions which are (Soft Reset & Download Mode) the rest no matter what am I trying to press it just won't do anything.
The phone will boot and stuck in a boot loop for like 1 minute above than the recovery menu will appear itself, but the problem is the recovery menu only last for few seconds before I try to press wipe cache, etc in the menu and reboot to boot loop logo ( SAMSUNG Galaxy Note 8).
From there I try to search through the internet where I found some guide regarding flashing stock ROM could help to revive my device. I flashed the device through Odin and by that time the status in Odin is PASS, but the phone reboot again during the loading status load till 32%. Than overall it's the same again, every time it reboots it will stay on boot loop for like 1 minute above and a blue screen with status bar load till 25% says error and goes in recovery menu for few seconds, it reboots again itself. I try to provide details below, appreciate if anyone can try to help up.
Odin Version: Odin3 v3.14.1
Stock ROM: XME-N950FXXSBDTED-20200603095449

I can't add any images at here, this is what it shows up in the bottom of recovery menu

Hi, i just got in to same issue. Have you found any workaround or fix for this ?
Any guidance will be helpful
Hey, I got the same problem here out of nowhere...
Hello.
Strangely, I have the same problem after applying the latest firmware update OTA.
I had the odd 32% stuck, then erasing. Now I can only go into download or recovery mode. I tried everything (factory reset, wipe cache), something like 10 firmware flash (3 versions, downloaded 3 times).
Sometimes I can boot to the installation process, then my Note randomly freeze.
I guess the Note is "dead". As FRP is on, I can't try a custom ROM, juste in case.
But I can't get it out of my head that it's due to the update. I don't believe in coincidences.
