HTC Shift Windows Vista Drivers. - Shift Development

Hi there guys I'm just about to install Windows 7 onto a recently purchased Shift and all the links I was clicking on to get the original drivers for Vista had gone dead and even on HTC's website the links did not appear to be there. So after a bit of looking nothing came up so me being the impatient person I am I directly emailed HTC and asked them for em and they sent me a link to them. So if anyone has had trouble getting these drivers (its probably only me) here's the link HTC sent me for the drivers.
( www .htc.com/us/ support/ htc-shift-sprint/ software- updates ) (I'm new to the forum so they wont let me put a link into my tread so remember to remove the spaces out of the link.
If for some reason the link does not work send me a mail and I can give you the files myself.
Here's whats on the website.

I need help please
So I had put Windows 8 on my shift a few months back and now I want to go back to Windows 7.
I installed windows fine then I came to install the drivers (yes I put compatibility mode for Vista and ran each one as an administrator) and after I install either the Intel VGA driver or the Synaptics MicroPad I get the blue screen of death on every boot-up after installing either driver. I've reinstalled windows 7 many times to restart this process and tried it in different orders yet still get stuck on either one of those two. Yes I followed the instructions in an another thread with the order of how to install them yet I still fail to complete them without getting a blue screen of death. I updated the bios and everything.
Also after trying to install the wifi drivers it always says fail, and after reboot the system still doesn't recognize that I have a wireless card in my Shift
I really love my Shift and I want to get it back up and running with Windows 7. Any help would be great please.
Thank you

Do you still have recovery partition?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers

Hi Guys,
this really will sound like a n00b question, but I really don't know what to do.
I do have the drivers, but I don't see the wireless hardware under device manager... should it be there? how to I install it if I don't have a device to install it to?
Thanks

Oh, marvell 8686 often is only shown as "unknown device" (if at all).
You have to download driver right out of one of the threads here,
then manually install it (remember vista compatibility),
going "have disk" / "browse computer".
Critical windows system updates often replace it by some microsoft driver,
and even system restore doesn't bring it back.
btw: latest driver can be found here:

Hello,
I've sent you a PM.
The first post of this Windows 10 related thread contains good advice for installing the drivers. (Sometimes they don't work the first time reattempts are necessary.):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...uide-installing-windows-10-technical-t2903521
Good luck and have fun!

Hello, my HTC Shift shows me "reboot or insert a rebooting device". I have tried the power + del but no device displayed. I can't get any reboot device. What do I do?

Hello ^^
I have a HTC Shift x9500 that has given me so many great years of service but for the past few years was gathering dust with the other laptops and UMPCs that i have.
After seeing a video on youtube about a HTC Shift with a 128gb 1.8zif ssd it gave me the drive to work on my Shift again ^^
sadly the seagate that i used use for all my HTC drivers gave up a few years back so now i can't find any of the drivers that HTC used have on their site a few years back.
Any chance of someone emailing me all the drivers that used be on the HTC website as 1 large attachment?
Thanks in Advance
Amelia

How to have full functional shift control center on windows 7

01. Make a Clear Installation (Format, Boot from DVD, Install WIN 7).
02. Disable Aero Theme.
03. Install Chipset Driver for WIN 7 (Now is V 9.1.1.1025), from Intel Web Site (As Administrator). Restart.
04. Install VGA Driver for WIN 7 (Now is V 15.12.75.4.1930, 02 Oct. 2009), from Intel Web Site (As Administrator). Restart.
05. After is finished the Intel VGA installation, if you want you can enable again the Aero theme.
06. Go to Device Manager -> Monitors -> You will see something installed like Flat Panel Display (never mind, whatever you
will see installed from Win7, right click, update driver, browse my computer, let me pick of a list of device drivers, choose
Generic Non-PnP Monitor, Apply). Restart. Now, you will see some Resolution Choises that appeared.
07. Install HTC SHIFT ECD Device Driver for Vista (Compatibility Vista SP2, as Administrator).
08. Install HTC SHIFT Touch Screen Driver for Vista (Compatibility Vista SP2, as Administrator). Restart.
09. Install Synaptics Micropad Driver for WIN 7 (Now is V 14.0.3C for XP32/Vista32/Win7 32 Bit Signed Default), from Site
Synaptics (as Administrator). Restart.
10. Install Realtek High Definition Audio Driver for WIN 7 (Now is V R248 x86 Vista/Win7), from Realtek Web Site (As
Administrator). Restart.
11. Install HTC SHIFT Vitakey _AC5023_Fingerprint AP v5[1].0.2.0 and Driver v7.10.1.0, for Vista (Compatibility Vista SP2, as
Administrator). First Driver, then the Program. Restart.
12. Install manually from Device Manager HTC SHIFT Extension Kit USBLanDriver(3[1].8.3.7).
13. Install HTC SHIFT Marvell Wifi driver 8[1].114.123.139 (Compatibility Vista SP2, as Administrator). Restart.
14. Install HTC SHIFT shagctrl_1[1].2.6.122-control center (Compatibility Vista SP2, as Administrator). Do not Restart yet.
Install also HTC SHIFT ClearSnapVUE (Compatibility Vista SP2, as Administrator).
Before Restart, go to msconfig and disable Shift Control Center to start on Windows 7 boot. Then Restart.
15. Right Click on Synaptics Pointing Device in the tray of Win7 -> Pointing Device Properties -> Device Settings ->
Synaptics Touchpad V 6.5 -> Settings -> Buttons -> Scroll Down Button Action -> Run a program of your choosing -> C:\Program
Files\HTC\ResolutionSwitchLauncher.exe -> Apply. Scroll Left Button Action -> Run a program of your choosing -> C:\Program
Files\HTC\ControlCenterLauncher.exe -> Apply.
16. Go to Device Manager -> Monitors -> Generic Non-PnP Monitor -> Disable (or Unistall, but the next time Shift Restarts,
Win7 Will install again the Driver).
17. Push the Buttons for Shift Control Center or Resolution Changer, they are working fine (at least on my Shift). Only the
Brightness Buttos don't Work, for now. Enable Wi-Fi.
Do not install the patch from HTC for the Sidebar. It works fine in Win7.
18. Go to WinMo Side, if you have Liberated them -> Usb Tool -> Attach to Vista -> Go to Win7 Side -> Let Win7 to Search for
the Driver Online. After Finishing, you can Control the Modem too, from Shift Control Center, like in Vista.
19. Go to Windows Update and choose to Update some of the Device Drivers of the Shift, with no fear.
20. If you want Origami Experience 2.0 for Windows Vista, you can download it from here (no www after the 2 //,
download.microsoft.com/download/1/c/e/1ce7294b-fd7a-4159-bc11-7595070bffd8/OrigamiExperiencePackv2.msi). Install
(Compatibility Vista SP2, as Administrator). It works fine, but it does not make update in the weather option, at least to
me.
From my testings with no results, as i was reading several posts on the forum (Do not install C++ Redistributable 2005,
change language to Chinese etc.) for Shift Control Center in Win7, by accident i went on the folder Program Files\HTC and i
pushed manually to run ResolutionSwitchLauncher.exe. Then i had a message that the driver has changed. From this point i
started to look something about monitor settings.
If someone else from now on, find a solution for the monitor driver, so we can again make functional and the Brightness
Buttons, please inform me.
Greetings from Greece and thank you for your helping site.
P.S1 : I have not yet made WinMo side full Functional (GPS, Real VGA etc), because i do not understand exactly how to first
backup my original ROM. I only have liberated it with MoDaCo way. If someone can, please give me instructions to backup for
sure my original ROM first.
P.S2 : I Tested another thing too, on my Shift (see post 155 on forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5450784).
I write there : I have the same Transcend External HDD from last summer, but only yesterday I had the time to make the
change. But I have the same problem that was mentioned in some posts before, the Bios recognizes the disk as 120GB, but when
you try to boot, it says "Primary Master Hard Disk Error". I boot from an Acronis Bootable Flash Disk 16GB, where I Have my
image od Vista with all my progs, but either the Acronis SWs do not Recognize the HDD (Toshiba MK1231GAL). The message is
"Failed to read from the sector 0 of hard disk 0". I had understood that something was wrong from the summer, because all the
Acronis SWs on my Notebook did not recognized the External Transcend HDD, eventhouth you see it in Windows (format, make
partitions, copy, delete things). Have you managed to boot any Operating System from that HDD (after you put it inside HTC
Shift) ??
See something interesting, on some sites as i was searching on Google, it says that MK1231GAL but with Part Number HDD1813
(like mine) is ATA7.
But here (02) : It says that MK1231GAL but with Part Number HDD1811 (not like mine) is ATA3-ATA4 compatible.
Does anyone know what is going on to inform me, please ??
Thanks you very much POWERSER !!!
thanks alot,
maybe you can write in bold, that the synaptics driver is from their side.
i was searching on htcs support side but there is just vers: 10[1].0.11.1
I followed all steps and now i have a fully functional SCC (except the brightness control of course). I am very pleased now with the shift.
Thanks for the instructions !
right now i am downloading all the stuff ..... hehe .
Hope Win 7 is going to do the trick . kinda tired of Vista
i think better is use us the synaptics from HTC vista download drivers, because work the boutons in the right side of the tablet
i work perfect with another instructions
thank you
Brightness control is active in win7 adjust? or not is possible up or down brightness?
PD: Edit to say to all that after update windows with all updates, brightness funtion is full in control center. All funtions of HTC Shif are OK with this guide, only change synaptics, i install HTC driver. My probes are with windows 7 starter and windows 7 ultimate x86.
Best Regards.

[Q] windows driver issues for vivid

I'm fairly new to android and i was wanting to root my htc vivid but it will not connect to my computer. I first plugged it in and the windows device manager installed a driver that just said unknown device. so i went and downloaded the htc sync software but even that won't recognize the vivid. I'm at a total loss and need direction.
Drivers at htc
Did you try the drivers at developer.htc.com ?
Page 4 from "Kernel Source code"
Download ADB http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/adb.html
Choose Connection Type
When you connect your Vivid to the PC via the USB cable, you should see a screen asking what type of connection you want - charging only, disk drive, sync, etc. If you are not trying to actually sync data, just select disk drive and the tap the Done button at the bottom. You can then see the internal storage (and the "external" SD card if you have one installed). This can be done even if HTC Sync does not work.
If you don't see the connection type screen, go into Settings and tap on Connect to PC. Check the Ask Me box so you will be prompted the next time you plug in the USB cord.
As to HTC Sync, see my posting elsewhere in this forum about HTC Sync not working. In my opnion, it's not a very good program.
As for the driver, you may need to uninstall the driver if you can. Then uninstall and re-install HTC Sync to get the correct driver.

I had similar issues trying to install the ICS update. Some searching lead me to this post that had just the drivers I needed.
-Brett.
I've tried the drivers from that post before and still no dice. And when I connect my phone it never asks for connection type even when I have it checked. I'm still in the same boat

Exactly what he said, Windows Vista didn't tell me any drivers were required (in charge only mode), but I had to install the XP drivers from that link before the RUU would proceed past the very first step. After I did that it worked fine.
Just unzip the drivers to a folder and when Windows tells you it can't find drivers, tell it to look there.
Ok I have the same issue but windows doesn't tell me it can't find drivers it just sits there. So how di I get it to accept the drivers?

I found the drivers for windows by going thru the at&t website... Then once I installed the HTC sync software (yes I know it doesn't work) and ran it... It told me there was a new version... I installed that and like magic it finally knew it was there...

HTC has new drivers that work when the old drivers did not. HTC SYNC from htc.com Load in Windows7 and they will run in the background.
read the posts above to set your phone correctly and you should be good to go. Gary

Theirs also a workaround that worked for me .. it's a hack that installs the windows 8 drivers on windows 8.1
use the old dirty method (manually copy the files from your desktop)
