good day fellow xda members, i just need advice regarding my note..
Situation:
1. The phone screen flickers and shuts down when using WIFI and listening to MUSIC at the same time.
2. If I use the phone for MUSIC ONLY, the phone doesn't turn off.
3, If I connect the phone to a wall charger, it doesn't turn off..
4.If I turn the phone on, the battery percentage is almost the same before it turned off.
additional info: the phone is 1 year old. and i reflashed it to FULL STOCK
My question now, is this a simple battery problem where i only need to replace the battery? Or the phone is short circuit? AFAIK. short circuit happens when the phone is submerged to water.
I'm asking this question because one store here sells genuine battery BUT they don't offer warranty... sick right??
any comment or suggestion??
UPDATE:: I recently got a new battery, its a genuine 2500 mah battery from Samsung and it costs around 1690 in Philippine peso or around $40 in USD....
and it magically cured all problems..
if you found this thread after google searching, I'm glad to help...
Hi, why did you mentioned water problem, did your phone came in contact with water. If so or if you think your phone got any humidity, try to remove it. There are some posts how to do it. 2. Try with another battery (your friends), see the problems remain or solved. 3. Try a good GB rom, stock or custom (before you buy a new battery).

+1 for trying a new battery. Ask sorts of problems charging, dying, etc, was exactly one year old and only very slight bulge (have you checked yours?) And replacing with Anker 2700 mah from Amazon cured all.

It take around 7-8 hours per day. This happen 3 month ago. Please everyone who reading this, i hope my comment can help you to avoid battery spoil issue as me. Thank you. You are great.
How strange is this ... so Basically the stock battery that Samsung sells does not last more than a year ???
a lot of users who purchased it more than a year ago are having the same flickering issue ... that is sad.. Bad SAMSUNG

My phone started couple days ago. A year and two months old. Guess it's time to go buy a battery. Will update.
Edit: bought a new battery. Problem gone. Also enjoying renewed battery life.
Even mine was acting same.. exactly from a week now.. for one year old phone.. ordered a new battery in Samsung service center.

Hi everyone, I've experienced a problem in these last days.
Using google I found a guy who had my same problem, as it appears in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZQ-hbAClvE&feature=player_embedded
Never happened before I changed battery (I had the one given with the note, but last week I put another one of the two I bought, always by Samsung). One should be actually damaged because it gave me not only this problem, but several messages on screen like "battery disconnected". With the other one I started using today everything was fine until it arrived to 11% - it's not reliable though because I didn't make in time to calibrate the battery - and then it start flickering and shutted down.
Anybody know anything about this?!
I also have the same problem, I've read that should be normal, and it does not occur with some batteries. It should be due to the power supply

so there's nothing to worry about? because it happened to me 3 times and twice the Note asked me to change the time, since it was resetted to 1/1/2000... and it didn't sound normal to me :/
I saw this, too, just before my Note had major filesystem corruption. I can't think of any other reason for it. I wrote it all up over in the Q&A section.

Not adding a solution, just more info for diagnosis: My phone gets this when I'm down to 2% and using a cheapo gold battery off eBay. So maybe battery-quality is something to do with it.
As far as I know, it doesn't happen when I use the official battery.
Scared me the first few times, but it's happened five times and not damaged my Note in any way (although naturally I turn it off, give it a minute, and then start charging it back up).
well, I really hope this has nothing to do with battery quality because I bought them as ORIGINAL batteries! but they could be fake though, that's why it would be interesting to check some kind of serial to let us know if they're official or just fakes. In this case I would ask for the refund and use the old battery...
about the file system corruption, could be the battery the cause of that? because until the day I've used my original battery I haven't experienced any of these issues, so that's why I relate the battery to the problem of flickering... and that's why I don't absolutely want this junk to power my Note!
I didn't had that problem until I switched to Hydracore kernel. Now it flickers violently even under 20 % battery.

Same here.i bought my galaxy about 2 weeks ago.so its fresh. Most of the time when battry drops to 2 or 1% the screen colors going weird and finally a flashing of screen then boom going off.
Its abviously from battry voltage.
Dont forget the screen is amoled.this behavior might be from this kind of technology.
Anyway nothing wrong here so far....

Same here. I have two Hyperion batteries and the screen flickers when the battery is about to die. I've noticed it also does this on the OEM battery as well.
Didn't do this on Gingerbread just on ICS.

Its a question, so belongs in the Q&A section.
Your Note would flicker because it's trying to get more juice out on a a battery that is almost about to ran out...
Moreover, a cheapo replacement battery or an original one that has been wrongly calibrated before would also have this kind of a symptom.

I'm sorry, you're right... thanks for moving the post, I'll be more careful!
I don't get it:
Yesterday night the phone was in airplane mode with a 60-70% charge.
This morning the phone is dead, and I needed to charge it again; after 10 minutes I switched on the device and... voilà, the battery level is 50%. WTF?!
I think I'll stay a couple of days more with this battery and then go back with my old one, asking the seller for a refund for both batteries.
Flickers on mine too.
I assumed it was normal.
Ye isnt it normal?

Hello XDAers,
Just got an Xperia T off eBay. Brand new and tried to turn on and no luck.
Put it in charge, then realize that it doesn't charge. It boots to android then shows 0% and turn itself off back to charging mode.
Anyone has experienced such thing? I know in past some other Sony phone had this issue but I cant find anything on Xperia T.
Is this something I can fix or should I return it back/?
Any help is appreciated.

I just don't understand why people insist on buying phones off ebay. You don't know where they have been, what's happened to them. If they are legal. Get your money back (if you can) and get one from a reputable source.

Since the new style batteries do not like being without charge, I suggest biting the bullet and charging it fo a full 24 hours....dont touch it all in that time and only after 24 hours see what it does. If it is still at 0% then its FUBAR'd
i've got the same problem with my old x10 and nothing to do with a normal charge, the only solution i found is to charge it manualy with a charger whose i cut the micro usb and put the red on + and black on - of the battery and it's done , but with the XT i don't know if it's possible

In the test menu, there is info on factory charge, which isn't confirmed until 50% charged, I think if you completely flatten the battery that it will need 50% before attempting to start.

I keep coming back to these threads whenever my Experia T is acting up again. I finally bit the bullet and went the hardware way as described in a comment on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWox7kCygRE
"In the end I fixed this problem by removing the back cover (one screw in where the SIM card goes) and detaching the battery supply from the phone. After a minute or two I reattached the battery supply (its a little yellow tab beside where you plug in the charger) and put the cover back on, plugged into charger and it started charging as normal."
It's surprisingly simple, to be honest.
Nowadays I have a weird problem. Even though I fully charge my phone, it behaves like battery is empty. It happens in two way:
1. After some usage, it can occur at 15%.
2. While showing battery is charged enough, you restart the phone. It starts as ciritical battery level.
3. For case 1, it can happen at higher levels as well. Screen starts flickering then phone shutsdown suddenly.
I tried calibration apk. I suspect it caused some problem also.
My system was stock 4.1.2 leak. I thought it may be reason, so I downgraded to ICS. But, I still have same problem...
Any1 has an idea? Battery or phone has problem or not?
May be time to get a new battery

This turned from question to possible Samsung defect. So, I am agree originally I made wrong choice. But, this topic is suitable for here in the light of my new finding.

I have the exact same problem! Been wanting to change the battery but haven't found it. If you buy a new battery and everything comes back to normal, please let us know!
I have same issue as OP. My screen starts to flicker at 15% as if it's about to lose power any second.
Happens with OEM battery as well as two aftermarket hyperion batteries.
Same here.. my batterry was a little bulged at the middle and i thought it is still ok.. then it started acting up..
-It says fully charged on the battery indicator while turned off and charging
- when I turn it on, it says 50%..
- when I get to recovery (philZ stock kernel recovery) it says 1%
Then it got worse and wont turn on when unplugged... Bought a battery at our local samsung store and all the problems went away!

Awesome!! That's what I wanted to know! Now I'll look for the battery.
Does anybody know why this happens?
I had this issue last month. Changed to Mugen battery. Everything's good now.
All the symptoms described here are dying battery issues. Have them replaced before your note dies.
I was unaware of this situation and I downgraded by JellBean to first GB, then ICS. I am lucky it did not shutdown during firmware install.
I went to some official Samsung technical service. They will give me a new battery soon. I am using my Sony Ericsson Walkman series phone Luckily I have iPad with cellular. Now, I will just wait and I will hope everything will be ok.
I bought a 7000 mAh battery on ebay. It's awesome! No problem now. My battery last all day :good:

Like many others I was experiencing weird battery issues. It would jump 5% increments within seconds. I'd have 46% turn on a movie and 2 minutes later it would shut off. I tried every app fix in the play store as well as different kernels and ROMs. During this issue I broke the screen sent it in for repair and they said they'd fix the draw problem. All they did was Chang the data cable. I got it back and it was worse than before. Before I sent it in I ordered a replacement battery and decided as a last attempt to fix the problem I installed it. Believe it or not I'm now getting 8 hrs sot. I watch the battery meter expecting it to change but it stays on the same number for at least 15 minutes. Hers a screen shot of halfway through a cycle. Also when I go to sleep i wake up to find the battery meter is on the same number as when I went to sleep. Finally it seems all I needed was a new battery. Hope this helps others
Can't get the screenshot to load gets stuck on processing but these are the stats
50% used in 21h
Screen on time 4 hrs 6 minutes

I bought the tab online the battery I bought from batteryship.com for $35 comes with free toolkit which was awesome. They even have a walk through video on yt. B4 the most I'd get was 2.5 hrs sot now I'm getting over 8hrs I can't kill it videos gaming nothing. I know a lot of times batteries are just rebranded but its funny Samsung's OEM is crap and aftermarket is quality. IMO its definitely the battery.

Depending on the countries legislation, a manufacturer can't really decide a certain component isn't covered under warranty. If a device is warranted for 12months from defect then so are all of its components.

Samsung covers batteries but I think they know exactly what's causing this issue they just don't want to absorb the cost of changing out all these batteries.

The only thing that Samsung do not cover is loss of battery capacity - they do cover faulty batteries for 1 year.
How do you prove that the battery is faulty?
I have been getting erratic battery performance also, how do you prove that the battery is defective?

I just bought a Tab S 10.5 yesterday as a replacement for my Nexus 10 who's battery is almost useless. Right now you simply can't find N10 batteries so depending on how long you plan to hold onto your Tab S, buying a replacement now may be a good investment even if it is only used to increase its resale value down the road.

Battery Experts say that you should not buy extra li-ion battery`s that you are not going to use, like a spare battery that you alternate with the one that came with the phone, camera, ect.
As as soon as an li-ion battery comes off the production line it will start to age if it is used or not, so you might buy a replacement battery, and put it into storage and 3-5 years later you come to put it in your tablet, but find that 50% of the battery`s capacity has been lost.
If you really abuse your battery and it dies within 6 months to an year it might be worth buying an replacement then, but only if it`s a really really good never to be repeated price, or you are in a country that you cannot get a warranty repair.
John.

How do you dial on a wifi tablet?
another battery problem
I have 2 tab s8.4 to play with.... mine was bronze my sister has the white one... both t705... on my tab i am not having any battery problem but with my sister At first it was having erratic battery issue... i opened it re attached the battery and problem fixed she had longer time to use the tab.. it could go on for more than 12 hrs.. now she used a power bank to charge her tab for only about 10-15 mins because she needed it and while we were eating out.. A day passed her tab is experiencing the similar erratic battery.. from 45% down to 20% then restared it 36%.. what seems to be the problem?? Should i reopen the tab?
The same issue is with my tab s 705. Battery goes to 4% from 100% in 25 mins. Shuts down & when restarted it show 74%, but again behaves the same way with different %. Mediaserver also runs a lot, i have not rooted tab s.

Try reattaching the battery and fully drain then fully charge it then ×#0228#... worked for me
I just returned my tablet for this same exact issue was playing Hearthstone on it after 35 days of having the device all of a sudden it was dropping from 100% to dead in 45 min. After it turned off I would turn it back on and it would be at 75% battery. It would then die in about 20-30 min again and when i turned it on it would be around 40% and so on and so on until it actually hit 0%.
Things I tried before I returned it:
- Full discharge and Charging while the device was on on a slow charge
- Full Discharge and slow charging while device off
- Battery Calibration
EDIT:Thing specific to my use.
- The device was ALWAYS charged with a 1amp anker backup battery/ charger over night
- The device was plugged in to a belkin quick charger 2amp most of the day while at work
- The device was always charged with a 2amp standard Samsung charger when at home and needed a cap off
I did not try the dial trick or opening the devices up because of how new it was. Can I ask why would using the ×#0228#... Do anything for the battery this seems to be a misreported battery capacity that is coming directly from the battery. I could see the reconnect doing something I just don't understand how ×#0228# could do anything for the issue being displayed.

This definitely seems to be a connection with battery, or calibration issue. I have no idea what that number does so... yeah. When you play a youtube video or some sort, does the battery drops still happen when just playing a video? The last thing I can think of is type that number in and see what happens. If the problem still persist, I'd suggest you take your tab back

I took it home and tested it. Worked fine for the most part. However when I shut it down it would not bit back up for a day or so. And after charging it for 24+ hours it would randomly boot. Basically I couldn't let it run out of battery or it would be unresponsive for a day or two.
Somehow over time this issue was not valid anymore. My phone could now reboot normally.
A couple of days ago I noticed the phone going into shutdown claiming 0% battery even when battery was 40%. It kept galloping numerous times. Open the camera, phone shuts down showing it's out of battery. The battery saver also makes to kick in as it makes its come and the top and bottom bars turn red/orange.
This has happened more than 20 times now. I did not get the battery shutdown when phone has 80%+ battery. But it started as I dropped below that. At 48% it got so bad that after a shutdown, if I restarted phone, it would, then immediately shut down. When battery was 60%+ it would at least start back up and let me use it for a bit.
Now I know I messed up with the zip lock thing but it's there any thing I can do now? Should I try to change the battery? I have changed battery on iPhones before by myself.
Can I somehow calibrate the battery using software?
Attached are screenshots of my battery stats.
I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hear this is happening, mine started doing the same thing after three months of use. I tried everything, including a trick someone posted of letting it die and charging it only using the quick charger. I use a QI charger and it was completely unacceptable to think that feature couldn't be used. So I contacted Motorola and they just did a warranty on mine and sent me a new one. I had it the next day.

What info did you have to give for warranty. I don't have original sales receipt. Thanks. I will try the same.
