Xperia T - Battery Dead at 0% won't turn - won't charge - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hello XDAers,
Just got an Xperia T off eBay. Brand new and tried to turn on and no luck.
Put it in charge, then realize that it doesn't charge. It boots to android then shows 0% and turn itself off back to charging mode.
Anyone has experienced such thing? I know in past some other Sony phone had this issue but I cant find anything on Xperia T.
Is this something I can fix or should I return it back/?
Any help is appreciated.

I just don't understand why people insist on buying phones off ebay. You don't know where they have been, what's happened to them. If they are legal. Get your money back (if you can) and get one from a reputable source.

Highly appreciate your input and help, Seller is reputable and there is no good source here to buy this phone in the US. What was your suggestion again?

Since the new style batteries do not like being without charge, I suggest biting the bullet and charging it fo a full 24 hours....dont touch it all in that time and only after 24 hours see what it does. If it is still at 0% then its FUBAR'd

i've got the same problem with my old x10 and nothing to do with a normal charge, the only solution i found is to charge it manualy with a charger whose i cut the micro usb and put the red on + and black on - of the battery and it's done , but with the XT i don't know if it's possible

Buy a new battery with separate charger as they can recondition the battery when its out of the phone

xperia T does not have a removable battery so that may not be as easy as it sounds.

In the test menu, there is info on factory charge, which isn't confirmed until 50% charged, I think if you completely flatten the battery that it will need 50% before attempting to start.

I keep coming back to these threads whenever my Experia T is acting up again. I finally bit the bullet and went the hardware way as described in a comment on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWox7kCygRE
"In the end I fixed this problem by removing the back cover (one screw in where the SIM card goes) and detaching the battery supply from the phone. After a minute or two I reattached the battery supply (its a little yellow tab beside where you plug in the charger) and put the cover back on, plugged into charger and it started charging as normal."
It's surprisingly simple, to be honest.

[SOLVED] Battery Problem or Short Circuit?

good day fellow xda members, i just need advice regarding my note..
Situation:
1. The phone screen flickers and shuts down when using WIFI and listening to MUSIC at the same time.
2. If I use the phone for MUSIC ONLY, the phone doesn't turn off.
3, If I connect the phone to a wall charger, it doesn't turn off..
4.If I turn the phone on, the battery percentage is almost the same before it turned off.
additional info: the phone is 1 year old. and i reflashed it to FULL STOCK
My question now, is this a simple battery problem where i only need to replace the battery? Or the phone is short circuit? AFAIK. short circuit happens when the phone is submerged to water.
I'm asking this question because one store here sells genuine battery BUT they don't offer warranty... sick right??
any comment or suggestion??
UPDATE:: I recently got a new battery, its a genuine 2500 mah battery from Samsung and it costs around 1690 in Philippine peso or around $40 in USD....
and it magically cured all problems..
if you found this thread after google searching, I'm glad to help...
Hi, why did you mentioned water problem, did your phone came in contact with water. If so or if you think your phone got any humidity, try to remove it. There are some posts how to do it. 2. Try with another battery (your friends), see the problems remain or solved. 3. Try a good GB rom, stock or custom (before you buy a new battery).

+1 for trying a new battery. Ask sorts of problems charging, dying, etc, was exactly one year old and only very slight bulge (have you checked yours?) And replacing with Anker 2700 mah from Amazon cured all.

My phone started couple days ago. A year and two months old. Guess it's time to go buy a battery. Will update.
Edit: bought a new battery. Problem gone. Also enjoying renewed battery life.
Even mine was acting same.. exactly from a week now.. for one year old phone.. ordered a new battery in Samsung service center.

Battery Instability

Nowadays I have a weird problem. Even though I fully charge my phone, it behaves like battery is empty. It happens in two way:
1. After some usage, it can occur at 15%.
2. While showing battery is charged enough, you restart the phone. It starts as ciritical battery level.
3. For case 1, it can happen at higher levels as well. Screen starts flickering then phone shutsdown suddenly.
I tried calibration apk. I suspect it caused some problem also.
My system was stock 4.1.2 leak. I thought it may be reason, so I downgraded to ICS. But, I still have same problem...
Any1 has an idea? Battery or phone has problem or not?
May be time to get a new battery

I opened back cover now. I am very surprised. Battery got deformed. Middle part became thicker. It cannot fit to battery slot.
I think god saved me. It could explode.
This turned from question to possible Samsung defect. So, I am agree originally I made wrong choice. But, this topic is suitable for here in the light of my new finding.

I have the exact same problem! Been wanting to change the battery but haven't found it. If you buy a new battery and everything comes back to normal, please let us know!
I have same issue as OP. My screen starts to flicker at 15% as if it's about to lose power any second.
Happens with OEM battery as well as two aftermarket hyperion batteries.
Same here.. my batterry was a little bulged at the middle and i thought it is still ok.. then it started acting up..
-It says fully charged on the battery indicator while turned off and charging
- when I turn it on, it says 50%..
- when I get to recovery (philZ stock kernel recovery) it says 1%
Then it got worse and wont turn on when unplugged... Bought a battery at our local samsung store and all the problems went away!

Awesome!! That's what I wanted to know! Now I'll look for the battery.
Does anybody know why this happens?
I had this issue last month. Changed to Mugen battery. Everything's good now.
All the symptoms described here are dying battery issues. Have them replaced before your note dies.
I was unaware of this situation and I downgraded by JellBean to first GB, then ICS. I am lucky it did not shutdown during firmware install.
I went to some official Samsung technical service. They will give me a new battery soon. I am using my Sony Ericsson Walkman series phone Luckily I have iPad with cellular. Now, I will just wait and I will hope everything will be ok.
I bought a 7000 mAh battery on ebay. It's awesome! No problem now. My battery last all day :good:

Phone shuts down around 15%

Hi guys,
Since a few days my phone powers off when de battery is around 15%. And when i charge the phone again it starts charging at 15%. I repaired the software but that didnt help. Any ideas how to fix this? I am not rooted and im not planning to do that with this phone.

Just charge the device to full capacity and don't restart it. This behaviour is normal.
Each restart or time spent in recovery, breaks remaining capacity estimation.
Full charge repairs it again.

Out of curiosity, is this a software problem, a hardware problem, or a Sony is really bad at making phones problem? My first Xperia TL by them bricked itself less than a week after purchase, and now I am having this same problem with my new device ever since the update to Jellybean. I have this device through AT&T, could it be their fault? My problems with my Galaxy Note were their fault so I wouldn't be surprised.
You may notice a pattern, if its a feature of every you phone you have its a feature of the phones.
This issue has been discussed repeatedly, its all to do with the way the phone calculates the charge and its not really an accurate picture of the power in your phone. Thats why some people ave noticed their percentage going up whilst not on charge.
I suggest you just use your phone as normal for a week, (I.e no flashing etc) and let it go through several full charge, this always settles the battery stats out.
Also, the new bateries we have prefer to be on charge, so whenever posoble leave it plugges in and NEVER let it discharge, the new batteries dont like that

Try calibrate the battery Go on Google Play and search for "Battery Calibration"
Mine was doing that too. You SHOULD read this post just in case http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2355862

I made sure my phone is unable to be turned on again by making sure it has no battery left. Charge it without turning it on for 3 hours.

There is no BEST way to calibrate your battery. We all have our own theories.
The stamina mode thing is a semi bug, you shouldn't worry about it.
With semi bug I mean: The phone learns from your daily tasks and then adjusts the stamina mode time to it.
Mine also says 9 hours, with stamina mode 21 hours or so. But I'm not worried because I can get a lot more then that.
When you clear the cache (Dont remember from what service/app) the stamina mode time resets to "normal".

Best way to calibrate your battery, is keep charging your phone when it needs to be charged, and make sure that you followed the charge instructions when you opened the box. Then after about 3 weeks the battery will be as good as it is going to get.
There's an extensive discussion regarding the necessity of calibration in the thread linked in my signature. If you read the first few pages you will realise it is not needed.

Calibration is not require...if your phone die too quick get one of those portable battery charger, it look like a damn tampon, but it will do the job, 2000mah.
Actually
I recieved the phone as a gift and I think it was turned on and tested and they didn't charged it before first use...
Is this first charge thing that effective?

No not really. It's a li-ion battery and they just don't need that type of treatment. Alot of people will harp and whine that it does but that's pretty much just people stuck in old ways (sony themselves have a note with it saying charge for 30 minutes before use) . The only thing that's "bad" for the battery is continually jump charging it eg plugging it in to charge at say 40%, only letting it reach 60%, unplug it, use it for a few hours and do the same thing. That and maintaining a full charge for a long period of time or maintaining a very low charge for a long period of time.
However I would charge my S2 every once during the day, then again at night and leave it on charge till the morning. Leaving plugged in for excess of 5 hours every night at full charge hasn't caused any noticeable harm. They have sensors to slow current flow to a trickle when they are at full charge to prevent over charging so I guess that does the trick to prevent it from reaching true 100% charge.
Rule of thumb; when the phone tells you to plug into charger, that;s right about the best time to do so. Later wont matter so much, but earlier and you are basically wasting a charge cycle and shortening it's life.
My S2 is still on it's original battery though and it is still going strong after approx 2 years.
The best way to calibrate would be to stop fiddling and let the phone do it's thing. Reboots and recovery mess with it alot as alot of battery percentage gets lost during both of those and throws it way out. A couple complete charge and discharge cycles without powering down should be all it needs

First using Xperia z - Charge full or for 30 min?

Basically as the title says, there's a sticker on the back of the xperia saying charge for 30 minutes, though a lot of people say too charge a phone fully when using it for the first time, so what do you guys recommend for a fresh Xperia z? I don't want to degrade the battery on the first use lol.
Greatly appreciated,

It doesn't matter one bit. How would 1 charge ruin your battery? How would 1 time not charging your battery ruin it?
Next time plox use the search button, this device has been out since February, so the chances are pretty big that one or multiple people already asked the same question.
