Hello,
Today for the first time I installed Android on my touchpad(I know I am very late to the party!). I first tried to install the Fat n Creamy ROM(12/02 build)sing ACMEInstaller2 with the ROM zipfile, moboot 0.35 and gapps zipfile in cminstall folder. After flashing the ROM, which I believe didn't properly happen due to some incompatibility or incorrect install method, and so on reboot after flashing I got no option for android in moboot, only webos, reboot and shutdown options were there. Then i retried by putting just the ROM in cminstall folder, which didn,t work either. So I ended up installing official CM9 ROM for now using the update tenderloin zip file, CM9 zip file, moboot and gapps fix in the cminstall folder, which worked perfectly and I am typing this from it! But now I want the Fat n Creamy ROM...how do I install it? Can I install it on top of this or do I have to format and reinstall? If so, how do I do it? Thanks!

No , I mean when you boot up among the choices you have will be either clockwork or TWRP that is the recovery I am referring to , either will give you the option to install a DL zip.
What are you using ?

I noticed I do not have any option for CWM or TWRP in the moboot at restart, only webos, webos recovery, cyanogenmod, reboot and shutdown. But I do have CWM installed as I just updated it, I can just go to the ROM manager in the apps and start CWM flash recovery from it...can I do it that way? Also can just flash the ROM on top of my current CM9 installation and will my apps be deleted?

You can do that and if you flash without doing a system wipe you will retain all your apps.
Possibly an easier way for you would be to DL Goo manager from play store and then install open recovery script which will appear as shown in the screenshot below after you hit the 3 dots in the top right hand corner. Say yes to everything and it will install the latest TWRP for you.
You could then use goo to browse compatible Roms and DL SGA's and use it to flash the Rom/zip for you as shown in the second pic.
Which ever method you choose do make a backup before with your preferred recovery either CWM or TWRP.
I hope this helps.

One last question, which one would you say is better, the latest Nightly from CM team as of today's release or the Fat n Creamy? And yeah, would you happen to know how to get the CWM recovery option in the moboot menu? Thanks a lot for all your help!

Probably the nightly but only because it is the most recent. However whichever you initially go for make a backup then try the other and make another backup that way you can relatively easily switch between the two in order to decide which you prefer.
Have fun.

Just saw the edit, DL Rom toolbox lite and edit the default recovery but it should show up in moboot anyway.
Can you post a screenshot of your boot folder please.

Use Rom toolbox , screenshot should be an option when holding the power off button , you sound a little bit new to this lark (I only started 6 months ago) so don't worry if you can't find it.
Can/ have you actually gone into CWM as I am not sure that it's installed because it would/should show in the moboot menu.
Check and let me know. If its not I think Goo manager and TWRP may be an easier option.

Here are the screens for boot folder. And as I mentioned before I believe I have CWM installed as the first thing that popped after flashing the ROM was an update for CWM.
According to your screenshots (Well done). You don't as there is no ulimage called CWM/ clockwork or TWRP . I suggest the Goo route to install TWRP once done it is VERY user friendly, then you can make backups before proceeding any further, then if you wish and are not happy use is to install a CWM zip.

OK, so I'm using ICS beta 4 for the Streak, and on ROM manager it says I have CWM 3.0.2. But when I try to boot into it, I either get stock recovery or fast boot. When I click on Software upgrade via update.pkg on SD card, on the stock recovery my screen turns blank and I have to hard reset.
Can someone help me get Clockwork Recovery please? Thanks!
PS. I used NVflash to flash ICS, don't know if that helps, but Im trying to provide sufficient information.
ICS B4 comes rooted with SuperUser7 and CWM 4.0.1.4 installed. Don't think that your supposed to use a ROM manager with it. Not sure how you have another CWM version unless you installed it yourself.
Reflash again and don't use the ROM manager app.
OK, well if it came with it, why can I not boot to it. I downloaded ROM manager but never used it. Never installed and other version of CWM, and if I did install another version, wouldn't I be able to see it? I can not boot to CWM.
Thanks for your suggestion, but reflashing is last option. Does anyone else think they know what's going on?
DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER!
First off, CWR isn't working very well right now, I have a new recovery image I've created that adds some functionality to recovery but its still a work in progress.
To get into recovery mode:
1) Power off device
2) Press Power and Volume+, hold
3) You will come into the Dell recovery menu
4) Use Volume (-) to get to "Install Package" and press Power to select
5) You are now in CWR
When I tried that it lagged a second and then booted normally. I'll post a video in a bit.

Did you use ROM MANAGER and flash a recovery? If you did, recovery is hosed and you will have to fastboot flash the recovery from the B4 directory.
I did use rom manager. And where would I find it in the directory?

Look in your ICS B4 download, you'll see "recovery.img" file.

Use CWM to recover it to your tab.
OK I tried to flash a custom kernel from http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/ it did flash but there is no changes in system tab, neither can I enable USB charging
hi.. first of all thank you very much for sharing the update that fast..
I want to flash this rom but I'm not sure if I have to do something in particular like flashing old recovery or something... I'm now on isi's cm9 with his custom recovery.
Thanks

Just download the file, unzip it to your tab to folder clockworkmod, but in to recovery, do a backup of your current setup just in case, and than restore a backup of the file you downloaded.
Is this rooted?
It's v3.2 or v3.2.1 ?

just reporting that everything went fine. I'm now on 3.2.1 (not rooted).. thanks
Thanks Yanluk, I've been waiting for this.
I seem to be missing something though. your backup contains files for example "system.ext4.tar" when I boot into CWM and choose to restore the backup it says it cant find the system file, it seems to be expecting system.img.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I extracted it to clockworkmod/backup folder, same as the backup I made of my existing ROM.
The backup I made works just fine, and restores without a hitch, the backup I downloaded fails to restore properly due to the .ext4.tar vs .img files.
What I'm trying to figure out is, am I just doing it completely wrong, or is my version of CWM/ROM Manager somehow different.
Anyone keen to write a small guide? Especially coming from ISI's CM9 Rom? Keen to try.
.tar backup means it was created with CWM 5. CWM 4 can only handle .img backup.
So you should use CWM 5.
This backup works like a charm, but the baseband is not updated, it's still P7100BUKDF.

1- Make a backup of your current ROM.
2- Put the folder in the zip file in clockworkmod/backup folder
3- If you were on isi's 4.0.4 ICS, you should also have cwm 5.5.0.4, if not flash this build
4- Boot to cwm and restore from the new folder.
That's it. Enjoy

The radio remains the same as what you had on before flashing this. To update the radio we need the original OTA file from someone who has received the update. Instructions on how to get it has been posted here in previous posts.
All above is right. You need CWM 5.X.X.X
To root download first file from first post (tabrooteasy.zip) here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386545
Put on your tab and install with CWM.
Thanks makbil and Yanluk, much appreciated. Will test shortly. I was copying the folder to the Clockworkmod\Download folder. no wonder it wasn't working
This Rom is from CWM 4.0.0.4. Rom is Rootet.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/nlr768ivhnz3v62/clockworkmod.zip
Easy way to root
It's easy to root the update, especially if you are coming from isi's ICS ROM.
I'm assuming you have already flashed the OTA update to 3.2.1.
1- Download this file from New and Easy way to ROOT and CWM 5.0.2.7 thread.
2- Copy Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_10.1_root.zip from that file to your device SD card.
3- Turn off tablet.
4- Boot into bootloader. (Power & Vol down buttons)
5- Go into fastboot. (You should see fastboot at the top left of your screen)
6- Connect to your PC.
7- fastboot boot recovery.img (Recovery 5.5.0.4 recommended). Wait, the tab will boot to recovery.
8- Install file Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_10.1_root.zip
9- Reboot
10- Done!
Now you should have root on your device.
Which is the recommended Baseband for the 3.2 update? I am still using the P7500XXKL3 version?

I'm trying to install android on my friends touchpad.
Everything looks like it goes fine, but when I get to the bootloader, there is no option to boot into clockwork mod.
The other options like boot into webos and boot into cm9 are there, but not clockwork mod.
Any reason as to why?
And how to install it?
Or is there another way to install clockwork mod on a touchpad?

Did you have the CWM image file in your CMInstall folder when you fflashed with the AcmeInstaller2?
Or you could also install GooManager and install TWRP touch recovery from the GooManager app. Not sure if there is an official recovery that you could flash via ROM Manager...

You probably used the wrong clockworkmod zip file. I did the same thing the first time as well as many others. The file name should start with "recovery" and not "update." If your zip file starts with the word update, then find the other one. Its out there somewhere. And then just use ACMEinstaller to install that zip.
Im pretty sure thats right. I know there are two files out there and one doesnt work. I will have to make sure which one is the right one when I get home. Maybe I can upload it here.

i'm having the same issue, but i am using the recovery-clockwork-tenderloin-1012.zip file so it's not the update one but i still can't find it in moboot, though i am able to boot in to CM9
---------- Post added at 12:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:26 AM ----------
Fixed
for some reason i needed to use the update version to make it work...
I also had this issue when using ACMEinstaller2, i placed the 'recovery-clockwork-tenderloin-1012.zip' in the cminstall folder. The installer worked fine with moboot and cm9 but not clockwork, when trying on clockwork the installer would just thrown out a message about not finding any files starting with 'update' and ending in '.zip' so following some advice from another thread i renamed the zip file 'update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip' redid the process and it worked. I hope this helps anyone else getting this problem.

When I installed cm9 to my touch pad clockwork mod didn't install. Now I have twrp installed, but it is no longer installing nightly builds, so I am behind on nightly builds. I have tried t install clockwork mod and it hasn't ever worked. I made sure I had the right file and everything... I really meed the new nightly builds because July 4ths build is a little buggy in terms of startup and the touch moving back and forth. But I can't install any nightly builds with twrp... any idea on what t do?
Just download goo manager and let it install openrecoveryscript which will download twrp (touch based recovery)

Did you read my post? Twrp won't install the nightly builds. It fails every time..
Any error message when you try to install nightlies zip ?
Have you done something special since july 4th (when it started to fail according your post) ?
We need informations to help you, we're not medium.
If you aren't scary by loosing all your setup, you can use ACMEUninstaller and then install from scratch. That's drastic but should solve the problem.

Well, I have tried acme installer for it like 3 times now, still no luck. The only thing i have done to it was erasing all the Wifi passwords and setting all the Wifi places back up. TWRP also says "Failure" when i try to install nightly builds. I can wipe the Dalvic, and still no luck. I even updated TWRP last night from 2.1.1 to 2.2.0? whatever the newest one is, and still not installing nightly builds.also it says that there is not a "MD5 file" on the zip? i have tried the zip directly to touchpad, or on the computer then to touchpad, and still no luck.
AcmeInstaller and AcmeInstaller2 have a 'quirk' where they only pick up zip files in the cminstall folder that have a filename that starts 'update-'. The nightlies changed a while ago and removed the 'update-' bit from the filename - is that the cause of your install issue?

no no no! i tried install CWMRecovry from there. The problem i am having is with TWRP and i want CWM but i can't install it for some god forsaken reason! and the nightly builds won't install with TWRP. The file i have tried to use to install CWM was "Update-cwm_tenderloin-2012"
You can always use ACMEUninstaller and start from the beginning. I don't think ROM Manager has a "compatible" recovery to download and install onto the Touchpad. You will have to use the ClockworkMod recovery which is specific to the Touchpad. If nothing else ... save the headache and wipe the ***** and start over.
I just don't understand why it didn't instal when i installed android though. also, if it didn't then, why would it now?
Two short questions: (thanks btw for everything, I love you guys)
How do I install a recovery again? I tried to update to TWRP 2.6.3.3 via Goo manager and it just deleted the old one but nothing else, so now I can't go into recovery. How do I install it again, it's possible to do it without installing android from scratch again, I just can't remember.
Thank you
ps. is there a Kitkat Rom that works properly, without black boxes and obvious problems?

You should be able to copy and paste the ulmage of a recovery into your boot folder using a file manager that has root privileges, Rom Toolbox lite should work if your current one doesn't.
Milaq's KK is working flawlessly. If you are not on data/media yet you will need to do a completely new install and resize your partitions with the standard CMW and then upgrade to Jcsullin's new data/media .
