You can flash it. If you're on android you should have a recovery already. Please be more specific on your issue.

When I installed cm9 to my touch pad clockwork mod didn't install. Now I have twrp installed, but it is no longer installing nightly builds, so I am behind on nightly builds. I have tried t install clockwork mod and it hasn't ever worked. I made sure I had the right file and everything... I really meed the new nightly builds because July 4ths build is a little buggy in terms of startup and the touch moving back and forth. But I can't install any nightly builds with twrp... any idea on what t do?
Just download goo manager and let it install openrecoveryscript which will download twrp (touch based recovery)

Did you read my post? Twrp won't install the nightly builds. It fails every time..
Any error message when you try to install nightlies zip ?
Have you done something special since july 4th (when it started to fail according your post) ?
We need informations to help you, we're not medium.
If you aren't scary by loosing all your setup, you can use ACMEUninstaller and then install from scratch. That's drastic but should solve the problem.

Well, I have tried acme installer for it like 3 times now, still no luck. The only thing i have done to it was erasing all the Wifi passwords and setting all the Wifi places back up. TWRP also says "Failure" when i try to install nightly builds. I can wipe the Dalvic, and still no luck. I even updated TWRP last night from 2.1.1 to 2.2.0? whatever the newest one is, and still not installing nightly builds.also it says that there is not a "MD5 file" on the zip? i have tried the zip directly to touchpad, or on the computer then to touchpad, and still no luck.
AcmeInstaller and AcmeInstaller2 have a 'quirk' where they only pick up zip files in the cminstall folder that have a filename that starts 'update-'. The nightlies changed a while ago and removed the 'update-' bit from the filename - is that the cause of your install issue?

no no no! i tried install CWMRecovry from there. The problem i am having is with TWRP and i want CWM but i can't install it for some god forsaken reason! and the nightly builds won't install with TWRP. The file i have tried to use to install CWM was "Update-cwm_tenderloin-2012"
You can always use ACMEUninstaller and start from the beginning. I don't think ROM Manager has a "compatible" recovery to download and install onto the Touchpad. You will have to use the ClockworkMod recovery which is specific to the Touchpad. If nothing else ... save the headache and wipe the ***** and start over.
I just don't understand why it didn't instal when i installed android though. also, if it didn't then, why would it now?

I'm trying to install android on my friends touchpad.
Everything looks like it goes fine, but when I get to the bootloader, there is no option to boot into clockwork mod.
The other options like boot into webos and boot into cm9 are there, but not clockwork mod.
Any reason as to why?
And how to install it?
Or is there another way to install clockwork mod on a touchpad?

Did you have the CWM image file in your CMInstall folder when you fflashed with the AcmeInstaller2?
Or you could also install GooManager and install TWRP touch recovery from the GooManager app. Not sure if there is an official recovery that you could flash via ROM Manager...

You probably used the wrong clockworkmod zip file. I did the same thing the first time as well as many others. The file name should start with "recovery" and not "update." If your zip file starts with the word update, then find the other one. Its out there somewhere. And then just use ACMEinstaller to install that zip.
Im pretty sure thats right. I know there are two files out there and one doesnt work. I will have to make sure which one is the right one when I get home. Maybe I can upload it here.

i'm having the same issue, but i am using the recovery-clockwork-tenderloin-1012.zip file so it's not the update one but i still can't find it in moboot, though i am able to boot in to CM9
---------- Post added at 12:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:26 AM ----------
Fixed
for some reason i needed to use the update version to make it work...
I also had this issue when using ACMEinstaller2, i placed the 'recovery-clockwork-tenderloin-1012.zip' in the cminstall folder. The installer worked fine with moboot and cm9 but not clockwork, when trying on clockwork the installer would just thrown out a message about not finding any files starting with 'update' and ending in '.zip' so following some advice from another thread i renamed the zip file 'update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip' redid the process and it worked. I hope this helps anyone else getting this problem.
Hi, first post here so if I screwup any of the etiquette please tell me.
Ok, so I've had my P1000 for about two years now, no contract, not locked to sprint / verizon etc.
I had 2.3.3 at the start, but after seeing mannnny people flashing to ICS successfully I had to give it a go.
Attempted to flash using overcome kernel for CWM, failed and I had to odin back to 2.3.6 (couldn't find a 2.3.3 rom).
I kept it on 2.3.6, but I was unhappy and so am trying again:
It's important to know that I am now on a mac, so will not had access to odin, and instead am forced to use heimdall. Please don't post any odin specific instructions.
In order to get CWM I had to flash the overcome kernel, which includes the recovery mod.
I successfully used heimdall for this, following a specific instruction guide.
I then downloaded "cm-9-20120703-NIGHTLY-p1.zip" from get.cm, and copied it to my externalSD on my gt.
Booted into recovery, wiped all data/factory reset, wiped cache, wiped dalvik, and went to install form an externalSD.
I chose my file, and the installation / flashing (not sure as to the terms. ) began.
It went through a few messages, but however once it said "Checking state of BML/MTD" it reboots instantly and shows the cm startup for about five seconds before going into recovery. Always does this on startup, no way to change.
The only way to fix this is to go into recovery and wipe all data, but this leaves me on my 2.3.6 rom.
I have NO idea what's happening, and I can't use most guides due to them being odin specific.
If anyone can assist me, please do.
Don't link to any odin threads, and don't tell me to search, for I have been doing so for eight hours.
Cheers,
Zero
EDIT: SOLVED!!!
After flashing once it failed at BML/MTD, so I opened recovery and flashed from "internal sd". Worked a charm, now installing gApps.
Cheers for helping Priyana!
that is call boot loop.
Just boot to recovery and flash it once more
it is quite documented.

That's the thing - when I boot to recovery after flashing (and failing) CM9, it is a different sort of recovery and doesn't allow me to install from an externalSD.

I've got this exact issue coming over from Frankenclean 2.8 on the samsung fascinate. I decided to update my rom as it was falling behind the 'curve' if you will.
I'm now stuck at a bootloop "samsung" and "S-cyanogen(mod)" screen. they just go back and forth. I'm following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070 to the letter and still getting the issue. I've tried flashing a newer kernel that is for 4.x.x builds and no luck.
When I install or attempt to install cyanogen10 it fails on the bml/mtd check and it just reboots to those two screens.
I followed the 'fix' at section 9 but haven't had any luck getting cyanogen to install... I'd really appreciate a little help, ideas, questions, anything.
I know it's an older device, I'm just hoping someone out there with more dev knowledge than I possess "read: none" can help me out.
bump...
Got it to boot into a stock rom, but have 0 luck getting my nandroid to load up and be functional using CWM 2.4 (red). Which is what I made the recovery with.
Might end up with a stock phone if I can't figure it out, I don't mess with roms often.
Luckily I do have titainium backup so all my apps are saved. Just sucks to not have a sleek rom anymore. Not to mention I want jellybean. Any help is appreciated!
fixed it, 4.1 didn't like my phone, got hellybean 4.2 on it without a problem .
Only issue is that google voice to text doesn't work, nor google search.
Hi, I recently flashed CM9 and just finished the customization so I thought I'd make a complete backup of the installation.
From what I understand, the only way to do this is with Clockworkmod recovery. This is however not installed, and when I try to install it through Rom manager it only gives me the option of installing it for the following models:
Galaxy S, S2 and Epic 4G.
Should I pick one of these models or can the correct version be downloaded from somewhere else?
I've looked around quite a bit but couldn't find the answer.
Thanks in advance!
CM-9.0.0-RC2-N7000 via Tapatalk 2
Hello Macrint, ROM Manager is incompatible with the Galaxy Note GT-N7000.
Hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together simultaneously, (this will reboot your phone) let go off the buttons only when you see the Samsung Galaxy Note logo on the screen. This will take you into recovery mode.
Hopefully, it should be ClockWorkMod recovery.
CM9 already has Clockwork Recovery.
"Should I pick one of these models or can the correct version be downloaded from somewhere else?"
Never ever do such a thing.
How come CM9 does not have CWM... It is even necessary to flash CM Roms. Just get into Recovery you will see it.
Haha thanks for the quick answer! Newb mistake Just got confused since the app was there...
Ok so I booted into recovery and ran "backup to sd card". This created a folder named clockworkmod with two subfolders: backup and blobs which totals about 500mb.
If I restore from this, will the phone be exactly as it is now, with all clutter removed?
Can I also restore to that if I flash cm10 and instantly go back to cm9 or do I have to revert to cm9 and then restore?
Sorry for all the noob questions!

You can restore without flashing cm9. Just boot into recovery from your cm10 anytime, wipe cache and dalvik and start the restore process. As cm9 is a safe kernel.

Hello,
Today for the first time I installed Android on my touchpad(I know I am very late to the party!). I first tried to install the Fat n Creamy ROM(12/02 build)sing ACMEInstaller2 with the ROM zipfile, moboot 0.35 and gapps zipfile in cminstall folder. After flashing the ROM, which I believe didn't properly happen due to some incompatibility or incorrect install method, and so on reboot after flashing I got no option for android in moboot, only webos, reboot and shutdown options were there. Then i retried by putting just the ROM in cminstall folder, which didn,t work either. So I ended up installing official CM9 ROM for now using the update tenderloin zip file, CM9 zip file, moboot and gapps fix in the cminstall folder, which worked perfectly and I am typing this from it! But now I want the Fat n Creamy ROM...how do I install it? Can I install it on top of this or do I have to format and reinstall? If so, how do I do it? Thanks!

No , I mean when you boot up among the choices you have will be either clockwork or TWRP that is the recovery I am referring to , either will give you the option to install a DL zip.

I noticed I do not have any option for CWM or TWRP in the moboot at restart, only webos, webos recovery, cyanogenmod, reboot and shutdown. But I do have CWM installed as I just updated it, I can just go to the ROM manager in the apps and start CWM flash recovery from it...can I do it that way? Also can just flash the ROM on top of my current CM9 installation and will my apps be deleted?

You can do that and if you flash without doing a system wipe you will retain all your apps.
Possibly an easier way for you would be to DL Goo manager from play store and then install open recovery script which will appear as shown in the screenshot below after you hit the 3 dots in the top right hand corner. Say yes to everything and it will install the latest TWRP for you.
You could then use goo to browse compatible Roms and DL SGA's and use it to flash the Rom/zip for you as shown in the second pic.
Which ever method you choose do make a backup before with your preferred recovery either CWM or TWRP.
I hope this helps.

Probably the nightly but only because it is the most recent. However whichever you initially go for make a backup then try the other and make another backup that way you can relatively easily switch between the two in order to decide which you prefer.

Use Rom toolbox , screenshot should be an option when holding the power off button , you sound a little bit new to this lark (I only started 6 months ago) so don't worry if you can't find it.
Can/ have you actually gone into CWM as I am not sure that it's installed because it would/should show in the moboot menu.
Check and let me know. If its not I think Goo manager and TWRP may be an easier option.

Here are the screens for boot folder. And as I mentioned before I believe I have CWM installed as the first thing that popped after flashing the ROM was an update for CWM.
According to your screenshots (Well done). You don't as there is no ulimage called CWM/ clockwork or TWRP . I suggest the Goo route to install TWRP once done it is VERY user friendly, then you can make backups before proceeding any further, then if you wish and are not happy use is to install a CWM zip.

It is just name of the ROM, and the developer writes you clearly in the first blue field, in the first text line:
Android Base CM10.1.3. RC1 JellyBean
JellyBean is not ICS (ICS is 4.0.x) so you need Gapps for CM10.1x / Android 4.2.x
CyanogenMod 9 is based on ICS

This isn't meant to be flashed via Odin.
Download the rom + addons + gapps + CM9 (you don't need CM9 gapps). You can download the rom + addons from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075058
1.) Backup everything you need to- call logs, SMS, bookmarks, etc with Titanium or other methods of your choice
2.) Reboot into recovery. Perform the three wipe combo (data, cache, Dalvik)
3.) Flash CM9. You'll probably have to flash it twice- once for the kernel, another time for the rom. Let it boot.
4.) Once CM9 has booted, check that you still have reception.
5.) Reboot into recovery again and do the wipe combo. This time choose to flash the base rom. You'll need to flash it three times- once due to the incompatible partition (first flash overcomes this), another time for the kernel, a third time for the rom.
6.) Once the base rom's finished flashing, reboot. Check you still have your IMEI- you'll know if you still have reception.
7.) Reboot to recovery, flash addons (flash Addons then Addons_V1)
8.) Reboot
9.) Back to recovery (AGAIN), flash gapps.
Unfortunately a one-time flash with Odin isn't possible. But the endless flashes you have to do for RemICS V6 is well worth it

thx for reply
thx for your reply and apologies for getting back to you late.
If only i could do it the way you suggested but for some reason (me) i have messed the phone so that it now no longer is able to mount the external SDCard so putting the relevent zip files on the ext card is useless because in recovery mode using CWM these files fail to show.
I note that via CWM it shows the card as unmounted. If i try and do a mount it fails.
any ideas?
thx

What about your internal storage?

Here is where my noob-ness kicks in.
What internal storage is available by default on the Note1? Is it just the internal sdcard?
what puzzled me when I last flashed with odin (repeated it a number of times as I was trying to get the device to recognise ext sd card) to get the current Darky Extreme rom on (which is working fine no problem at all) is that there was still some relic directory structure left over. These were all empty folders visible when navigating within CWM. Didn't matter what type of formatting I did they wouldn't go. To summarise: much confusion and something got twisted.
So questions arising are:
-How to nuke the internal disk/card properly so there are no remnants prior to me doing another darky reinstall?
-Then, how to copy a zip file to internal card but still have it remain after the format and wipes that would precede a zip install?
-How to fix the device to mount the ext sdcard? FYI other sdcards can't be mounted either. I have tried 4 different ones. And here's the kicker-once booted I go to file manager and there I can see and access all the files/folders on the external card!!! So it's definitely a phone problem as opposed to a sdcard problem. Something got flagged along the line.
