so after a new update to the cm9 i found my phone a bit slow, so i decided to downgraded it to the latest cm7 version with the matching alf kernel. after the downgrade i found my phone acting very strangely.
after turning it on, the kernel and cm logo goes on, then it turns itself off, then again, again and again until the battery drains. i cant even go into recovery mode, so i cannot use my phone obviously.
can you help me with some advice?
thx

Connect your phone is flashing mode by:
1. Keep ur mobile connected to the pc all the times.
2. Remove the back cover and the battery.
3. Wait for 10-15 seconds.
4. Press and HOLD the back button while putting the battery back in.
5. Launch PCC.
If this didnt work out, try to shortcircuit ur phone(it wont damage the hardware) by a dc charger.
Flash naa ics kernel back, then go to recovery and format data and system then you flash alfs kernel

not going to recovery in alfs &nAa kernel is "IMPOSSIBLE"
Both kernels include recovery so it should go to recovery .......
Reflash kernel / then full wipe {(important)+dalvik & system wipe}
U must always wipe when u upgrade or downgrade form ics/jb (cause whole system is different)

this is what the OP said.....if the phone reboots even before entering recovery then he cannot recovery...
and under some circumstances phone wont enter recovery... one is to be on ics on oxydo kernel and then flash back alfs with the ics rom... try entering recovery.. it will reboot.

If I start charging the phone when it's turned off, the xRecovery menu appears as soon as I turn it on. Is there a way to fix this? I've searched the forums and I've seen a couple of people mentioning this minor issue, but couldn't find a solution.
The phone is an E15a that went from 2.1.1.A.0.6 (base 15) to FroyoBread v023b and now to GingerDX v019.
I got xRecovery from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878426 and I installed CWM-recovery-4.0.1.5-e15-Amend.zip for upgrading FroyoBread to the latest GingerDX.
It's just a minor annoyance, but I wonder if I there is a way to fix this. The missus freaks out when she gets the strange menu.
Lol, I get the same. Here:
Phone is off.
I connected charger.
Phone turns on to the battery picture.
I hold lock button down.
Then FreeXperia recovery mode opens up.
I just click reboot and its fine.
But I though GingerDx only came installed with CWM and xRecovery.
I never installed FreeXperia recovery mode.
Lol.
Anyway, its weird.

You get this if you have Dual-Mode-recovery,because then any hardware button lets you boot intoe the FXp recovery.
Unfortunately, you cant power your phone off with FXP-recovery, what is a bit annoying, because then you have to boot to CWM to power the phone off, or you boot Android and let the phone charge while it´s on.
I had this problem in stock ROM, but i solved it by following the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12186828

Yep, that's it. I don't mind getting the "battery picture" when I plug in the charger. What's annoying is that I land in the xRecovery menu when I want to turn my phone on. It's just a minor thing, I just have to select "reboot" from the xRecovery menu, but still...

I got the same problem when I was only on FroyoBread v023b. At that point I had only xRecovery. CWM came much later when I wanted to install GingerDX v019.

dbts25 says it's only for a stock firmware, so I wonder if I can use it on my GingerDX v019.
Since all the newer ROMs need only CWM, is there a way to uninstall xRecovery and keep only the current version of CWM I have?

It can be fixed by moving one line in chargemon to another position. If you will compare chargemon from GingerDX and the one I have uploaded you will see difference. Make backup in recovery first, because if something is wrong it will brick your phone, then replace chargemon in /system/bin with this one from archive and don't forget to set permissions. I haven't tested it (I can't install GingerDX now), but it should work.

Hi there,
I had no problem with my Note until this morning when I woke up.
My Note was turned off, I tried to turn it on, impossible.
I plugged the usb wire and I saw the battery logo and it was fully drained.
It's weird because I usually hold 2 days with my phone and yesterday, before sleeping, the battery was almost full.
More than that, I use Green Power, so all the connectivity services shut down during the night, there's almost no battery consumption.
So, I tried to turn it on, many times, impossible... it's stuck at the blinking Samsung logo.
I use the LQ2 rom with the Franco's kernel R5.
I've also tried to wipe cache & Dalvik's cache in recovery, but that doesn't change anything.
I'm beginning to be a bit worried because I've red some post on the forum saying that the Note's CPU can burn...
Please help ! Thanks !
are you overclocked? but even if you are, if the device goes into deepsleep, it can't burn...
i wonder what really happened..
How long have you had Franco 5 running on it?
I got stuck at flashing logo when I tried to upgrade from Rocket ROM 3 to 4.1. Ended up having to do factory reset. Now on RR4.1 with CF kernel. Hoping it stays stable.
So if all else fails do the factory reset as per ROM instructions and hope that gets you through.
I don't overclock the device, I try to run it as simple as possible, as long as I have Gmail, I'm happy.
I don't know what happened... I was running Franco's R5 since the day he released it, without any single problem !
I'm now on a Windows, I'll try to run Odin and flash it.
Yes, no idea what appened.
But the best is to flash a wipe stock Rom from Odin PC.
How to check if my cpu is not burned ?
I flashed a new rom with Odin, the phone doesn't boot anymore...
The file I flashed: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/159007364/ad4ff19/N7000XXLQ2_N7000OXELP6_SER.zip.html
What can I do more ?

I hope your PBA is not cooked like mine. I was on franco's kernel too before I could revert back to safety, it was dead. Are you able to get in download mode? When flashing or wiping, do you get errors on datafs or factoryfs?

First of all the CPU is fine, since you see the Recovery screen.
From Recovery flash Abyss 4.2, reboot Recovery (from Advances).
Wipe user data, Cash and Dalvik Cash,
Flash any ROM.
I had a very similar problem. Resolved by reverting to Franco R4.
Good luck!

When I do that, before flashing the latest rom, I was going into recovery.
Now that I flashed it, I land into a "Android system recovery (3e)".
It's a blue menu like the CWM Recovery but with less options.
I suppose that this is the default recovery system bundled by Samsung...

Now that I flashed the original rom, I lost root, how can I do that ?
When I first got my TMobile Galaxy S2, the first day it died completely while I was sleeping. I tried turning it on and I would feel the vibration of the phone trying to turn on but it wouldn't. I figured the battery had drained so I plugged it in the charger, but the phone wouldn't stay off and charge, it would try turning on over and over. It went into a crazy bootloop. It was my first time with the phone so I thought it went crazy and called samsung.
Eventually the phone got enough of a charge to power on completely without shutting down. I eventually realized that if my phone died completely, what I had to do was use my Car Charger, which didn't turn my phone on and showed me the little battery indicator showing it was charging.
I don't know if this is similar to what you experienced but hope it helps.

a similar thing happened to me earlier,
I would advise you not to have wiped anything whilst on ICS even with franco kernel.
If you can go to download mode, do so then using pc odin flash a stock rooted GB rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
then flash cwm recovery. following this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
then wipe data, cache and everything else.
you should be back to GB then flash whatever rom you want, I would advise you to flash paranoidandroid which is superb.
the only difference I had with you, is that i did not wipe data or cache whilst on ICS so this may not work for you as you have done that.
But this method worked for me.
Ok, I'll try to flash the GB rom, and I'll be back to get you update of the situation...
I think I'll be back on HTC soon... I don't understand why the phone reacted like that...

So you can go to download mode, but can't turn on the phone or go to recovery coz you only get the vibration, which suggest (ofc, lol) the phone won't even properly boot?
Everytime my battery is near zero and the phone shuts itself down and near total death, that's what happens. It just vibrates but nothing happen. IMHO, I don't think that you're facing bootloop or anything.
In your case, you said that you charged it and by the time you wakes up it's a goner. I would recommend trying a new battery for now. Your current one might be dead as in broken or something. Trying a new battery won't hurt.

I have the same problem, but a little different. I've thinked that was battery problem as you, i've bought a new battery, but nothing is changed. I was running JetMod. When my phone has low battery and than shut down i try to recharge it but doesn't work anything! if i try to turn it on it only vibrates (with black screen, nothing happened). The only thing that can i do is go to download mode, but for a few time becouse after 10 sec it shut down, so i think that it has not been charged.. I observe, when it was alive, when i try to charged it, that not many time he started recharging, i don't know why.. i've tried different plugs or with computer but it works only when it wants to..

I don't know why, but i think is governor ( i use no frill cpu ), i tried some days ago to replicate the issue, changed governor to pegasusq , after some hours i plugged the power cable, but phone don't charge.( the power icon show me the battery in charge but % don't moving ).
Rolled to ondemand and interactive governer and problem go away.
I had only a good luck finding the solution.
This with cocore kernel 4.4 with 5 i haven't try... but is a very good kernel.
Okay please help. I have an unlocked bootloader (or had an unlocked bootloader) on my X8, it was rooted as well. I decided I'd like to get a custom Rom so I attempted to install GingerDX. I installed Clockwork Recover mod and tested it out to see if it was working. It was so I decided to back the phone up. The back up worked fine and I moved the backup to my computer. Then I restarted the phone to install the GingerDX rom. I cleared all the user data and I then went to install a zip file then chose the zip file. The installation completed so I pressed the back button and it said something about it being unsafe and that I will have no backup but I thought it was going to be fine as I had a backup of the kernel and the system on my computer.
I decided to ignore the warning as the installation said it was completed as well. But when I rebooted using Clockwork recovery mod the phone was stuck on the Sony Ericsson loading screen and was for around 10 minutes before I turned it off by removing the battery. I tried to enter the flash mode and reinstall the kernel on to the phone through flashtool but this failed and after that I can't seem to enter flash mode at all.
Please, is there any way for this to work? I'm guessing it's a hard brick but is there anything that I could try to fix it considering I have a system backup and the stock kernel backup as well? Anything will be greatly appreciated and rewarded.
it looks like you're on stock kernel. custom kernels do not show the se logo (haven't encountered one that does and i've tried quite a lot). are you sure you unlocked your bootloader? if you did, you haven't flashed a custom kernel yet.
don't worry it's only a soft brick. try using seus, pcc, or flashtool to recover it and go back stock rom. flash the rom, not the kernel.
did you download the stock kernel version of gdx? if not, that's probably why you encountered a bootloop.
edit: you also need to wipe dalvik cache and do a full wipe before flashing a rom
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion and I'm pretty sure I got the stock kernel version. Just in case I didn't can you send me a link if possible? Also I am on the stock kernel, I unlocked the bootloader but didn't bother flashing the kernel.
I've already tried PC Companion but I don't understand how to use it considering the phone actually cannot boot so I can't choose to connect the phone etc. Also I can't enter the clock work recovery mod anymore or the flash mode.

just download the stock rom for x8 and flash it using flashtool. you do need pcc installed for that anyway.
well, i believe you when you say you have gdx's stock kernel version. maybe it's just that you didn't wipe cache, dalvik cache, and full wipe before flashing it?
just a Q though. why not flash a custom kernel? it makes a huge difference.
btw here's the link for stock: http://goo.im/devs/TeamFun/GingerDX/GingerDX-v031b-shakira-stock.zip
edit: you need to flash the stock se rom first to get out of the bootloop. then reroot you phone, install cwm, reboot to recovery and wipe, flash the rom.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.

btw here's the link for stock: http://goo.im/devs/TeamFun/GingerDX/GingerDX-v031b-shakira-stock.zip
edit: you need to flash the stock se rom first to get out of the bootloop. then reroot you phone, install cwm, reboot to recovery and wipe, flash the rom.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.

I've been such an idiot. After a couple of tries it seems that I can actually boot to flash mode so it was just as simple as using Sony Update Service and repairing the phone. I feel like a bit of a tard. Anyway, this thread is resolved. Thanks for all your help and I've  but just as a last note what kernel will go well with the GingerDX Rom?
And again thanks for all the quick help man. greatly appreciated.

try charging it fir a few minutes and try again. if not, you'll have to send it to sony.
did you try unlocking your bootloader?

I tried unlocking my bootloader. The phone turned off an since then no sign of life...
No charging, no led flashing, doesn't turn on, won't go in flash mode.
SEUS, PCC and Flashtool doesn't recognise it.
Is it hardbicked? Is anything that can be done?
Waranty expired too!

11W43
Does anybody happen to know if there's any chance that my hometown Sony service can handle that, or they will gonna send it at a central somewhere else?

send it to a nearby Sony service center because your manufacturing date isn't safe to perform the unlocking of the bootloader, and yes, it is indeed a hard brick
I have same problem, sony service center solved my problem with any cost, free for me.

the date on the battery is irrelevant. what's the date at the back of your phone?
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.
I have left it charging over night, Im getting no signs of life from this in anyway.
The back of my phone says 10W51?
I cant get into flash mode
Also: I have an old Vivaz here and the X8, The vivaz was missing a battery and It turns out it uses the same battery as the x8, Ive tried using this battery in the vivaz but it wont turn on or charge, Is the battery gone?

looks like the battery may be the issue. can the battery of the vivaz (if it's charged) power on your x8?

Hi, i got a really serious problem. I unlocked and put a custom rom (avatar) on my brand new Xperia V. Everyting was fine then i decided, that i need to root it too, so i followed a page wich i cant find unfortunately, and the result was a bootloop. I didnt really care about it, i decided to solve it later, but it drained all the battery during that time, and i used flashtool to put another kernel (Xperia.V.TWRP.Kernel.9.0.1.D.0.10.elf). Now when i put my phone without the battery it tryes to turn on every 15 sec (i see the boot screen), if i put battery in it shows its out of juice then after a few minits the led turns instantly green, and the phone turns itself on, and it runs out of battery in less than 20 sec and this repeats. Please help i really dont know what to do :crying: (might have time in fastboot mode to flash some things but i dont know really what i should do)
Can't you go full stock via flashtool?

i dont know how to do that i tryed to do that before the TWRP kernel, but it was not the sctock i guesss coz it had a bootloop (i really dont know im a noob ), i put the TWRP so i can install stuff from sd card. I really have to be fast before it turns off, so if u know a guide that tells exactly how to do that, i ll give it a try, but i didnt find anything like that unfortunately , and i dont really trust this random guides anymore...
I fixed my xperia several times through flashtool...its very easy actually....
1.download flashtool if u don't already have it.
2 download stock .tft file (stock rom wtv version) // // // // (of course for your device)
3.press bolt icon-flashmode.
4.pick the .tft file u put in flashtool's firmware folder where iu installed..
5.wait to prepare everything and give u plug usb screen.
6.while connecting the usb to pc press and hold the flashmode button on device (arc s-back key, xperia s -vol down) so check for ur device which key.
7.wait until it finishes then u can unplug and reboot.
Photos-vids-music dont get erased, other yes, and ull have a stock phone like u first bought.(includes kernel change to stock)

Please explain what is same(problem) because flashing the stock .tft file returns the phone to original state where no recovery nor anything is present.

firt the red led shows, that the battery is empty, then it is charging (still red) then after like 1-2 min it turns green, and the phone turns itself on, tryes to boot, but battery gets empty (i dont know if it does really the led is just red again), and the phone turns off (the time is getting shorter i think btw), the main question if this cannot be fixed is, that i caused this by installink some custom rom or kernel, or the battery really is dead (wich would be really wierd since the phone is only 3 days old), in that case should i try relock it and bring it back to the store?

you unlocked the bootloader from the first 3 days ? anyways.. charge battery on extrenal charger then try...if u dont have an external charger, ask anyone or any store just to test if trying a new battery makes the phone work..if not, then dunno, hardware most propably since soft is clean.. if works, buy that battery or new one...
