I'm running CM 7.1 Encore - Nook Color General

It has been awhile since i turned this thing on. What's a good stable update for this thing?

I am running 7.2 Mirage Kang and I'm very happy with it. I did try CM10 for a few days but I went back to this.

I'm with asawi, I've tried most of them and 7.2 is as good as it gets. Very smooth, not a ton of lag, very usable.

Ice cold sandwich battery life

Is it just me or is the battery life on ice cold sandwich pretty bad. I'm struggling to get through the day on full charge. Never had that problem with other sense roms.

I've had awful battery life on every version I've tried, 4.3, 6.1.1, 7.2 & 8.1.1 The only mod I made to was changing the CPU governor. Tried several, SmartAss, SmartAss v2, Conservative off the top of my head. Could never get the battery to last more than 7 or 8 hours. And that was if I hardly used the phone.
I love the ROM but its completely impractical for me to use it the battery life is that poor. Using CM 7.2 I can get over 24 hours out of a charge depending how much I use the phone
Well I set up CM7 and ice cold using the same apps, kernel, clock speed and everything and got very similar battery life. Interesting.

I'm going to give 8.2 a go over the next few days see if thats helps. I used to got a lot of random reboots on previous versions. Reading the change log it looks like those bugs have been resolved, maybe that is something to do with it
I am pretty much running it out of the box without any modifications. Thought asop roms would work better in terms of performance and battery life. Looks like I might have to ditch this for another rom

If you have the leaked radio from new ics then battery is terrible. I'm reverting back to other ics radio on that I got at least 24 hours with screen on time 3 hours and I check my phone a lot

But, I am having great battery life on ice cold 8.2 atm with the .11M radio everyone is complaining about
Weird. I have my phone undervolted at the moment though, but I have with most of the roms/kernels I have used

We have this phone in our family, and have been waiting for ICS update. But the reviews are quite bad. Seems like the phones hardware isn´t good enough to handle ICS smoothly. A lot of reports about slow phone with a lot of lagging.
Maybe it works better with a rooted phone though.
When I was on ice cold battery life was excellent but after I backed up the Rom, tried a different rom, then restored the ice cold backup, battery life was terrible

Screen protection for nook.

Is it best to buy a generic tablet one and try and custom cut it, or do they still sell perfect fit ones?
Sent from my NookColor using xda app-developers app
I bought Nook Color - specific ones from MonoPrice.
Good quality and easy to apply. I went with the anitiglare ones.
Check at Ebay.
They have nook specific screens which work just fine.

Please check Racks Dualboot topic and especially latest posts by me. Also other topics at Questions section about CM9.
After upgrading to AOKP version, CM9 is more stable then ever.

I have to agree with Rastaviper. The Aokp ICS rom is comparable to cm7. Stable (running for 3 days with no lockups and no SODs) and reasonably smooth.

Your experience with pacman ROM?

Hey everybody I just need to hear your opinions on pacman ROM because i am thinking of getting it. So is it glitchy? is it heavy on the system since it has three roms in it? Are you happy with it? How is it with battery? Please post only if you are a previous user of Pacman or are using it now.

it doesn't have "three" roms in it. It's still one rom, they just take what they like from each and merge it with theirs. Same goes with AOKP, Carbon, Xylon, PA, CM and all of the other rom there is out there.
I like PA but have the last week been trying out PAC. And so far it's great. I'm on the may 16 nightly and yes, there are some glitches. But it's stable enough to be my daily driver so far

It's a rom, not a car..
Just flash it and see. If you don't like it revert to the backup of your current rom that you will have made prior to flashing the new one.
PAC is great. I only ever switched to a different ROM because long press home for recent doesn't work.
There are some glitches.. Long press home for recent doesn't work, Ribbons never used to work, it does now though so don't worry. Just little things like that.

Well I been using Pacman for a little over a month... Had been using CM for the past 2 years on any phone I had... And well... I have to admit, I like Pacman better because they have added all the extra features out there that individual roms have, and they managed to come together quite well...
Having said that, as far as stability is concerned... Since the night lies there are occasional reboots... But apart from that its pretty stable... If you stay on 22.1 then there was no reboot issue there...
I'm getting 5.5hours SOT with PAC and Franco M2...
Quite satisfied all around...

I am using PACman stable V22.0.0
I am using PACman rom now with a custome boot animation I downloaded with Rom Tool Box. I went to You Tube and saw a guy named Lee with Nexus4Root.com previewing PACman and some others that are all in one roms. One was JellyBAM which seems to be an anti-PACman rom. There is a notification sound default "Annoying" that is the Pacman theme music and then a gun shot and the Pacman dieing sound after. I thought that was funny. Then there was Toasted Marshmellow which seems to be nearly Identical to PACman rom. I settled on PACman because of it's customizations and mainly over the other roms because I like the Pacman theme. i have tried about half a dozen roms now mainly from Nexus4Root.coms list and then a page I found out about BAKED that one was pretty cool and you can get it from Goo Manager in the Play Store. In the end I wanted PACman because it is not all frilly and it still has the customizations of the three roms: Paranoid Android, AOKP, and CM.:highfive::cyclops:

Stock is still the best. All 4.2.2 ROMs have high standby current (15 - 20 MA)
OP why dont you just try for yourself....thanks.

Which ROM is the most Stable?

I just bought this phone for a family member overseas and I want to make sure they have the best experience possible. I searched through all the ROMs and it doesn't seem like an there is an easy choice.
I saw a CleanROM thread which seemed to promise what I want, but it looks like the rom was pulled and there is all sort of weirdness going on there (dead fathers and other weird ****).
I look at CM10.1 by epinter, but the "alpha" branding and the bluetooth audio issue is scaring me a little bit.
What recommendations do you guys have? Do you guys think I should just leave the phone the way it is?
Stock the phone runs fine if you wanna put something smooth and bug free really the only option is holoblur

I been running CM 10.2 - 07/30 dhacker build and haven't had no issues no lag or FC the only draw back is the battery drains fast only get about 5hrs with moderate use; but it doesn't bother me and i also flashed UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip for 4.3 to regain root.

I have PACman and LOVE it, other than the bluetooth it is awesome. I've had a few random restarts, but only like 2 over the course of 2-3 weeks. It does drain the battery, but I have the eb40 battery coming so that won't be an issue.

Now for batery I use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dianxinos.dxbs&hl=ro
Great since now, after couple of days on test, think I buy the application. I like it till now and besides great improvement of battery has several types of charging mode.
