[Q] How to restore my IMEI? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
I just installed a new rom and I booted my phone and it gave me this message: A problem was detected with your device. Your device IMEI number is invalid. An invalid IMEI number could cause network issues including the inability to call emergency numbers.
Does anybody know how to restore my IMEI?
Thanks in advance
Rick

first thing always provide more detail stuuf like what you did...which rom, version so some ones can help you quickly
are you able to connect to network if yes then don't think you need to worry.
if you're are not able typo connect to network then try flashing different modems and even that not solve your offside them go back to gb and then flash the rom after rooting

I9000 imei problems

Hi everyone,
at a bit of a loss here . Bought a galaxy s i9000 which someone had had issues when trying to upgrade firmware- managed to recover it , but it has serial number issues ( 004990 etc ) strange thing is phone shows as unlocked but only works on vodafone and virgin which it does fine . When another sim card is used it shows network name but out of service - could it be the imei is being blocked or any other ideas - I am on T mobile so as it stands allthough it works it is not much use to me ,
thanks in advance .

Its possible, since you are using a fake IMEI and different networks have different policies, , you could try fixing your EFS, to get back your IMEI, solution on EFS, Click MY Android Collection Link below
thanks for the reply - I can see txt in folder showing correct imei but it displays "fake" one - think this maybe getting a bit heavy for me - can this be repaired at all
cheers
Flash gingerbread through ODIN
Hey I had an issue like that when my friend failed at flashing his phone and doing an odin flash to gingerbread solved it for me with re-partition selected
Phone has gone back under warranty so hopefully all is cool - if not I will try the repartition.
cheers

Flash back to stock KK4 (without bootloaders). That should fix your IMEI problem.
To avoid further problem, once on KK4, make a backup of your efs folder. Which can be used if it ever happens again.
You'll have to work your way back up to CM10 from KK4. As always, follow the full instructions.

Please help me Restoring IMEI

Hey guys,
I installed S3-Evolution-Beta-3.1 in my SGA a week before and just 2 days back, I found the strange problem that even if my phone had a SIM card in it, My phone was saying "No Network". First I thought, I was in the No Reception area, and ignored it. I restarted my phone, did the couple of tricks of restoring the Nandroid Back up etc. ***Nothing Worked*** to resolve the "No Service" problem.
I just flashed the DDKQ8 firmware through Odin, and the problem still continues.
Just a couple of hours back I observed that there is NO IMEI number in the settings. I tried going into the service mode and tried turn off the FTM and choose proper network bands. But nothing worked.
Now I am getting worried, Please help me out.
PS: I knew this kind of problem, and have the original IMEI number with me.
Please help!
So there isn't any possible solution?

Unknown IMEI and locked network after trying to recover

Hi everyone,
Hope you can help me solve this, cuz I'm way out of my knowledge..
My phone broke the lcd and was out of action for a few months.. After I finally got a replacement screen, the phone wasn't working and said IMEI unknown, I've tried to flash a few roms via recovery but nothing. So I just went crazy and flashed it via kies. It worked, the imei appeared but the phone was locked again..
Back to the shelf a few weeks until I could afford to pay for unlock.. When I picked it up, it was unknown IMEI again and the guy at the shop basically told me he couldn't help.
Was he right? I refuse to believe I can't recover the phone.. Can you please help?
Thanks!
Anyone?
Are you sure is that phone imei is not blocked, because provider may block if it is stolen reported.
I had the same problem after changing display IMEI unknown
But somehow it was saved from 'unknown IMEI' I don't know how.
restored efs from previous backup (twrp & philz recovery)
- no imei
I flashed stock
- no IMEI
asop
- no imei
tried different modems
again stock
- suddenly its worked
(some users reported flashing different modems worked for them)
Yes I'm sure imei is not blocked by network. Have a friend that bought a phone which he discovered the hard way it was stolen, anyway, blocked imei by network behavior is completely different.
This is what happened to me first time only valid imei after kies rom update.

If you see imei again, Make a backup using pc, there is a guide in development section. So, you can easily restore again.

URGENT: Re-installed Stock Firmware (update-6.0.1) - NO NETWORK ACCESS

Hey, everyone, I need some help:
On my SM-920G, I re-installed stock 6.0.1 (last official update before 7.0) and, now, I don't have access to the network (says emergency calls only). IMEI and serial number are both intact. What can I do to regain access to my network? I know it's not a motherboard problem because it happened after flashing stock software. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP.
Thank you,
VinceLupe

I would remove and reinstall your SIM card and check your APN settings.

Did you install the right firmware for your region? You should check that or flash right modem file. If all else fails use kies to restore phone to factory or flash a custom rom and check if everything works.

So, I actually had to have an IMEI change... Long story - but, my question now is: is it possible to return to stock (completely stock) and NOT lose my IMEI number? I've heard some people say, "yes," and O be heard some people say, "no." Is it possible?

I don't think there is any risk of losing IMEI if you flash stock with odin, but if you have root then firstly take an efs backup, just in case, efs is where your IMEI is stored.

If you have root then in the root folder you will find a folder called efs. Just copy it and save it to your SD card or your computer. If you have custom recovery then you can save it from the backup option but I guess that won't help much if you flash stock with odin then it will remove your custom recovery. There are also some apps on the play store but I never used them, I use the first method.

Yeah, I'm just on stock, so that won't work - but, now I have another issue:
So, here's what happened... I got my IMEI changed, and all was good. But, then I realized that my phone was rooted. I tried to flash magisk to have magisk installed, and then my phone wouldn't boot up. Afterwards, I flashed stock to restore official device status, but when I did so, I realized that my network wasn't working. My IMEI (clean IMEI) is still showing, but I DO NOT have any access to my network and can't search the web or anything. What could be the issue, and what is the easiest way to fix it?

Did you flash the correct firmware? The same region as it was when it was working? Flashing a stock rom from a different region sometimes causes this and you need to flash the right one or at least the 'modem' file of the right one to get it working. Or you could use Samsung Kies software to completely recover your phone to its original state when it was bought. Also, What do you mean by saying changed IMEI? Did it not show it correctly or got corrupted and you fixed it? or you changed it completely to a different one from the original?
If you have a good IMEI just call your provider and give them your IMEI and your sim card numbers.

CodeNameRedNeck,
So, I have a good IMEI number, but I cannot register the network service. It tells me "Emergency Calls Only" even though it shows a signal in the top right hand corner. Are you saying that I just need to call TIGO (I am in Bolivia) and register my IMEI number as well the SIM card numbers - or, could it be that there is an even deeper issue? Also, which SIM card numbers are you talking about? Thank you, my friend.

Mufrad,
I completely changed the IMEI to a clean one because, apparently, when I traded for the Note 5 (I am in Bolivia, and that's what people do here), the original IMEI was put on the blacklist. So, now I have a completely different IMEI that is clean (unreported), but I do not have any network access at all - furthermore, when I access the menu using *#0011#, it says "IMEI Status: NG" under IMEI Status. I'm not sure if it's a software problem? I have a friend looking at the phone, but I do not have any idea how it's going because he still hasn't been able to fix it.

When my son switched from an iphone to Android we had to call AT&T and give them those numbers before it worked. I had an Xperia phone that I had to do the same with. There are apps that can read your sim card number. It should also be printed on your sim card.
