Just installed O.a.T's ROM, JB 4.1.2, Dec. 22, 2012 and it's the first Android ROM that the unit actually works without rebooting with working wireless which is awesome. However I cannot get Youtube video's to play, the page loads and the first frame of the video even loads and sometimes it seems to jump a few frames but thats all it does. Is there a fix for that or anyone else having the same problem?

OK, so after reflashing the ROM, rebooting several times, it turns out all I had to do was boot into WebOS and then after booting back into Android all videos now play properly, not sure why but it works and I'm happy. Thanks O.a.T's!

To follow up, the sound and video playback still cutout once it a while but powering it off or booting into WebOS seem to fix it until it breaks again.

Is there any way to get HTML5 video playback working in the stock browser in any of the CM10.1 derived ROMs and SCHIZOID in particular?
I've never managed to get it working. I used to always get a grey area; if you clicked on it, it'd look like it was to start playing, but it just did as it the playback had finished and showed the replay options, etc.
Surprisingly, a couple of weeks ago I reinstalled SCHIZOID (I think it was the 11JUN build) after a complete wipe and I found out it was working. But after updating to the 01JUL build, it stopped working again. So I tried a clean install of this version. Nothing, still doesn't work. I've even again clean installs of 11JUN and even 07JUN and 02JUN (in case it was one of those the one) to no avail.
It can't be impossible as it was working for a few weeks before the update, but I don't seem to find what it depends on.
Video playback using Flash doesn't seem to work anymore either in these ROMs. There seems to be a problem with the overlays, and although the video is playing and you can hear it, all you can see is a black box.
Can anybody throw any light on this? Thanks.
Nothing? Could someone at least confirm that video playback doesn't work and it's not just me who can't get it working? Cheers!
I was having the same problem with flash, I could hear the video but couldn't see it. I found a work around by accident, I taped the full screen option on the player and in full screen flash video works. Hope that helps if you're still having the problem.

I'm sure this is a really common problem, but I can't get any videos to play on YouTube on my HP touchpad with cm10.1. I had the same problem with cm9 and thought cm10.1 might fix it but I was wrong.
Tried finding the answer on these forums but didn't have any luck.
Thanks!!
Do you have any audio problems? I have the same problem but it only happens when the audio stops working (which is a few minutes after rebooting).

No, no audio problems at all and the problem is all the time not just on bootup...
Did you do a dirty install or wipe it clean and start from scratch? I haven't had any issues on mine but I've been doing a clean install each time I upgrade to a higher version.

Clean install, and I had the same problem both on cm9 and on cm10.1
If I remember correctly, I was able to play YouTube videos on cm9 sometimes if I made the settings HQ but on the new YouTube app it doesn't even give me enough time to change the settings. Just immediately doesn't play the video with either an "unsupported video format" or an "action isn't allowed" error.
Hmmm, I haven't heard of any widespread youtube problems. I'm beginning to wonder if it might be a hardware related problem with your tablet. Can you play videos using something else, like MX Player? If so, does it play in hardware mode?

I can play videos in mx player , but hardware mode is a little choppy.
Interestingly, I just tried playing YouTube videos in the browser and it did work fine... So maybe its a problem only with the YouTube app? But why would it only affect my touchpad?
Wow just uninstalled and reinstalled the YouTube app and now it works.
Can't believe it was so simple to solve this problem that I have had for months on two different ROMs...
Thanks for the help guys!
I am having a issue. I got my nook hd +, I put CyanogenMod11 on and it works great except for youtube. If I use the youtube app, or browse there on chrome and watch a video my nook just powers off. Abruptly. No message just, zap its off. It sometimes takes a few minutes, sometimes its instant. Im at a loss as to what direction to take to fix this.

My wild guesses...
Perhaps you flashed wrong google apps package that has youtube included. Not sure what wrong gapps would do anyway to youtube from store as well.
Not a clean install of cm11.
Messed with the performance settings or other settings and did a bad job of it.
Hardware problem.
If its sdcard install then try emmc.

I used the provided gapps, there were two, one if you planned on using ART, another if you didn't. I have tried both on 2 different clean installs. I wiped everything both times. This issue is not just on youtube as it has now occurred a few other times with different apps. I am really at a loss now. I'm hoping this isn't a hardware issue. It doesn't feel warm on the back. I just don't get it.
Morning everyone,
So I hope I don't get flamed to bad but search turned up nothing on xda in conjunction with just a google search in general.
I am on stock 5.0.1 with elemental x kernel latest release and root. I can't watch netflix to save my life. I pull up a video and its just a black screen with no audio. I feel like i've always had this issue but I also haven't done a factory reset in "recent" times. (i've factory reset when 5.0.1 came out).
Bottom line:
If there's no threads complaining about this particular issue, can I assume that netflix works fine on this phone?
Thanks
Working fine here. I'm not on stock but that shouldn't be an issue. Using latest elementalX kernel
Try uninstalling netflix, reboot phone, and reinstall netflix. I had a similar issue and this fixed it for me.
Of course it works

and of course after I post and get help it starts to work magically. Thank you for chiming in that way I know it if happens again its my stupid phone and I should reformat again or something.
I have a 2013 Moto X XT1053. I recently run into the problem where if I play a video a few seconds later the video would stop. This happens on youtube video (played via youtube app), local video playback( play via various players), and also games. When I start a game it would boot me out to the home page in a few seconds (sometimes longer). Seems any video or graphics will cause this bug. I have not updated the phone and have been running 4.4.4 for a while without a problem. It just happen out of the blue one day.
This bug happens even if my phone is bone stock.
So far I have tried reset the phone a few times. I also reload the factory image via RSlite to go back to a fresh out of box state. But it still does the same thing. I'm looking for help and suggestions. Thanks
