I'm sure this is a really common problem, but I can't get any videos to play on YouTube on my HP touchpad with cm10.1. I had the same problem with cm9 and thought cm10.1 might fix it but I was wrong.
Tried finding the answer on these forums but didn't have any luck.
Thanks!!
Do you have any audio problems? I have the same problem but it only happens when the audio stops working (which is a few minutes after rebooting).

No, no audio problems at all and the problem is all the time not just on bootup...
Did you do a dirty install or wipe it clean and start from scratch? I haven't had any issues on mine but I've been doing a clean install each time I upgrade to a higher version.

Clean install, and I had the same problem both on cm9 and on cm10.1
If I remember correctly, I was able to play YouTube videos on cm9 sometimes if I made the settings HQ but on the new YouTube app it doesn't even give me enough time to change the settings. Just immediately doesn't play the video with either an "unsupported video format" or an "action isn't allowed" error.
Hmmm, I haven't heard of any widespread youtube problems. I'm beginning to wonder if it might be a hardware related problem with your tablet. Can you play videos using something else, like MX Player? If so, does it play in hardware mode?

I can play videos in mx player , but hardware mode is a little choppy.
Interestingly, I just tried playing YouTube videos in the browser and it did work fine... So maybe its a problem only with the YouTube app? But why would it only affect my touchpad?
Wow just uninstalled and reinstalled the YouTube app and now it works.
Can't believe it was so simple to solve this problem that I have had for months on two different ROMs...
Thanks for the help guys!

Hey guys, ive got a rooted xperia tx running stock firmware, and im experiencing very choppy video performance. It can freeze for a second or so, even on non HD videos.
Im able to play 3D games quite well( NFS most wanted, asphalt 7), and i think even streaming video plays fine, but any video that ive stored on my phone plays really badly, even with MX video player( Both h/w and s/w decoding display this issue). Also, I've had this problem since ICS.

EXACTLY what Yenkazu said was my suggestion, too
I experienced this issue when i was on .411, but with the .67 firmware, the issue has gone, update to .67, and even FLASH it, to see if it helps

backup your SD card, and everything, then perform a FULL FACTORY RESET, including Erasing Memory Card, maybe this helps optimizing the memory card and internal storage for JB, as i said, i had this problem, but after a factory reset it's ok now, there is nothing wrong with your device, it's powerful enough to play FullHD videos, let alone 720p
I recently managed to install the latest Mokee rom on my phone, and I must say I am very pleased with it, except for this issues I'm now stuck with: apparently I am completely unable to playback any video on my phone.
At first I tried recording some videos: when I tried to watch them back to check the quality, a popup told me it was unable to play them. I thought that maybe they were not being saved correctly, so I tried to watch them on my pc, but to my surprised they played fine! I tried the opposite process too, playing on the phone videos coming form the pc, and the result was the same disappointing failure in reproducing it.
Then I thought it could be some problem with the default player, so I downloaded VLC from the play store and gave it a go. What happened next surprised me even more, as it would play the first couple of seconds of video before crashing miserably giving an error report log.
I now suspect it has got something to do with the rom itself.
Have you guys got any ideas?

It should be kernel related, that's the same with last audahadi kernel.
Hello, guys and ladies.
I have some weird behavior of my XT1058 when I watch video from network. So, when I open video in MX Player or even in Chrome's videoplayer, it works perfectly, but when I try to move across the video, my phone comes crazy. At first few times I can do it without any problems and then scrolling causes freeze and then phone performs a reboot.
I'm using stock CM12.1 without custom kernel.
Need your gelp to solve this problem.
Thanks!
Hello,
This phone is much more than what I expected for the price, it feels faster and battery lasts longer than the ZenFone 5 I'm currently using.
I have an issue though. When playing web video through Firefox, Twitter app or YouTube app the video remains frozen on the first image but audio continues to plays fine. Using Chrome video plays choppy, like 1fps, and audio continues to play normally.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I converted this from Prime to non-Prime and is rooted. I didn't test before doing these changes, but I suppose that shouldn't have any adverse effect.
I rooted added 128 GB card and removed ads and Amazon apps and install Xposed and gravity box on mine. No issues for me including video. This phone works at least as well as my iPhone 6. Did you try on a different connection?

Hello,
It's not a bandwidth issue. The videos play but are not rendered (at least not properly) on the screen. You can hear the audio from the video, but you see only the first frame of the video or a black rectangle.
I'll say it's something related to the gpu.

I don't have this issue. I would return the phone to Amazon ASAP if factory reset doesn't fix it.
Hello,
I went into recovery and did a cache and dalvik wipe, now everything works as it should.
Thanks for the replies.

I'm having the same issue and that did not fix it. Youtube stutters, instagram videos, and even the camera viewfinder.
