Hey guys, ive got a rooted xperia tx running stock firmware, and im experiencing very choppy video performance. It can freeze for a second or so, even on non HD videos.
Im able to play 3D games quite well( NFS most wanted, asphalt 7), and i think even streaming video plays fine, but any video that ive stored on my phone plays really badly, even with MX video player( Both h/w and s/w decoding display this issue). Also, I've had this problem since ICS.

EXACTLY what Yenkazu said was my suggestion, too
I experienced this issue when i was on .411, but with the .67 firmware, the issue has gone, update to .67, and even FLASH it, to see if it helps

backup your SD card, and everything, then perform a FULL FACTORY RESET, including Erasing Memory Card, maybe this helps optimizing the memory card and internal storage for JB, as i said, i had this problem, but after a factory reset it's ok now, there is nothing wrong with your device, it's powerful enough to play FullHD videos, let alone 720p

i got this problem on my blueangel
whenever i play some videos on full screen mode (landscape mode) fertical lines tend to appear messing the picture up,
is it because im still using the old wm2003 OS?
will upgrading to WM6 solve this problem?
is this a hardware problem (lcd?)
i also try playing videos using different players such as coreplayer, but same problem occur
even a recorded video from the camera tends to exhibit this when played on the default media player
but when i play back the same video using my PC<. everything is great, no lines or whatsoever

ok sir,. i'll try that,.
i already tried the hard reset, but to no avail,
i'll be upgrading my rom to wm6, i do hope its only a software bug,
i just want to know if some one has the same problem,
i played videos on xda 2 and it played smoothly,. its using the same rom as mine (i think2003)
Has anyone else experienced this?
After the Froyo update on my S, video playback has become jerky at times, to the extent that the video stops but the sound continues. This never happened before....but it returns to normal after about 10-30 seconds.
I'm playing back xvid and divx avi files, approx 700mb.
Can anyone help please!? it's getting really frustrating!
Yeah I have also experienced it. But not in all videos. In mine it is just minute that is for about a 2 seconds and it becomes normal. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that I am better off with Eclair.
My videos are fine, but MP3 playback hiccups...also apps force close all the time, even mid-call at times...Eclair was better, 2.1.1 made it bad and 2.2 has made it worse
Galaxy S flashed through Odin...unrooted..don't know if I ought to risk rooting it..any suggestions?
I have the same issue..already did a post about it.
did u guys restore apps/system using backup?? as far as I know this could be the issue.
I will do a reflash from scratch this weekend and try videos on a fresh install.
I am convinced that this is one of the issue. I had flashed a custom rom froyo and I have also flashed through kies hack JPO. In both versions of froyo, I have the same issue. I have not restored any backup or anything.
yeah I just upgraded to asian jpd via odin was on stock optus rom. Hardreset etc. lagfix fixed via z4mod rooted. Experiencing the same jerky video playback with standard divx videos. Tried another data wipe but problem persists.

Did you find any solution to the problem.. me too stuck with the same issue..for me mkv's play good, without any issues..but if its avi back comes the jerkiness..
at least i'm not the only one....
I'm still having problems and I had to give up watching somethign on the way to work as it was so bad and kept saying "cannot play this file".
I started from scratch, done a factory reset after upgrading and it hasnt fixed the problem. Also I've tried to close down all programs before watching something and even clearing the RAM, but it makes no difference.
I'm getting really annoyed with it now! Does anyone have a solution? Anyone!!?

I guess it not just the galaxy hardware but other as well... maybe it froyo.
None of the players could help, but yxflash. The main problem with yxflash that together with smooth playing it produced significantly lower quality of video-rendering.
Anyway I've managed to solve the issue. The steps were:
full reinstall of official android 2.2,
hardware reset,
microSD card formatted,
the video converted with Movavi Video converter into Ipod preset or what ever your device needs. That's all.
Hi,
I flashed my phone last night (I9000), and everything's working fine....
except when i play music (haven't tested video yet) and lock the phone the phone completely freezes, the music loops on the second it was playing when i locked it and i cant do anything with it at all so i have to take the battery out and start it up again.
Any ideas?

which 2.3 firmware did you flash??
same here.. however video player is fine and i can use winamp and power amp.
I've noticed the exact same behaviour in the music player. Good to know this issue doesnt affect win/power-amp.
Factory reset always first step .
jje
Both Music player and Video player work fine here. Are you guys restoring apps with Titanium Backup? Some n00bs are using it and restoring system apps and when sh*t breaks they say the 2.3.3 firmware is crappy. As they say, id-10-t error.
No problem on JVK here.
I had the same issues using the XXJV1 firmware which was very buggy. Reflashed to XXJVK and now evrything is working as it should.....
I reflashed with.....XXJVK 2.3.3
i didn't back up my apps at all so that's not it, but as long as there are alternative music players that work fine i guess it doesn't matter.
good to know i'm not the only one too haha
Hey guys...
My Note was running on Ultimate ROM 5.2 ever since it was published (over a month), and on 5.1 before that for several months. Everything was running smoothly just fine without any serious problems.
Suddenly, earlier this morning, I noticed that I couldn't play ANY kind of media at all! No YouTube videos, no videos that I've downloaded or captured, no music, no audio files, NOTHING. And it wouldn't make a difference what all or media player I use. They all fail.
When playing videos, the first frame is shown then it freezes completely. Counter stays on 0:00. I can tap and scroll through the video and the frames would move and change, but once I take off my finger, it freezes at that last frame.
I tried doing a full wipe and did a new clean install of the ROM. Problem still unchanged or unsolved.
What's going on? What happened to my device? Has this been reported on the Note before? Is there a way to fix it without having to take it for service?
Thank you..
Reinstall rom and still the same?...what about flashig stock rom?..

Tried it and noticed no difference whatsoever..
I'm sure this is a really common problem, but I can't get any videos to play on YouTube on my HP touchpad with cm10.1. I had the same problem with cm9 and thought cm10.1 might fix it but I was wrong.
Tried finding the answer on these forums but didn't have any luck.
Thanks!!
Do you have any audio problems? I have the same problem but it only happens when the audio stops working (which is a few minutes after rebooting).

No, no audio problems at all and the problem is all the time not just on bootup...
Did you do a dirty install or wipe it clean and start from scratch? I haven't had any issues on mine but I've been doing a clean install each time I upgrade to a higher version.

Clean install, and I had the same problem both on cm9 and on cm10.1
If I remember correctly, I was able to play YouTube videos on cm9 sometimes if I made the settings HQ but on the new YouTube app it doesn't even give me enough time to change the settings. Just immediately doesn't play the video with either an "unsupported video format" or an "action isn't allowed" error.
Hmmm, I haven't heard of any widespread youtube problems. I'm beginning to wonder if it might be a hardware related problem with your tablet. Can you play videos using something else, like MX Player? If so, does it play in hardware mode?

I can play videos in mx player , but hardware mode is a little choppy.
Interestingly, I just tried playing YouTube videos in the browser and it did work fine... So maybe its a problem only with the YouTube app? But why would it only affect my touchpad?
Wow just uninstalled and reinstalled the YouTube app and now it works.
Can't believe it was so simple to solve this problem that I have had for months on two different ROMs...
Thanks for the help guys!
