unlocking BL w29+ - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

no solution for unlocking BL with 11w29+?
hope can some one can do it with no hardbrick? im 11w48 im so sad because of my lock BL?

For the last time, please don't open such threads. You can unlock it but there's a high possibility that you'll brick it. You can get it done by the paid method, but I'm not sure how that's carried out. You can ask some other members (via PM, not by creating threads) who unlocked their bootloader via the paid method. That being said, if you try it and brick and come to us crying, we are not going to compensate for your loss. That basically means XDA is not to be held liable for any damage. You are on your own, but we will try to help.
Summary: It can be done, but the risk is too damn high!

at the moment there is not a free one.
Also why did you open a new thread? if there was one you would find it easilly

We're so losing hopes and have to watch every SDE, JB roms, and some awesome ixperia roms just screenshots.. Also we want to swap.. But we never can... So sad for the stock kernel.. ;(
I have 11w43 locked bootloader, too.. Don't sad..

I have unlocked my (11W43) with flashtool and all the flash Drivers installed and then at first i root the phone, after that i have installed xRec then i downloaded a rom and have it put on my SD and then i have make me sure that i have the Original Firmware latest firmware installed or you will brick your phone so or so . Now you download a Kernel for your "Rom" then you flash the Kernel via Flashtool and you go into the Recovery after the first start and install the Rom. I make a Video Tutorial for that if i have time .

i dont know how making these posts is going to solve problems for people who are let behind with locked bootloader. Instead of wasting your time try to find some 'work around' for it. Maybe you can come up with a solution. It is better than saying that we are losing hopes.

Luck.
If you search, you'll find some reports of people successfully unlocking their phones with this kind of dates.
Some of these posts are then followed by people who attempted to do the same, but just bricked their phones.

the procedure is the same as unlocking bl for 11w28 below devices. BUT the risk is great. SOME have been successful, but the majority bricked their phones.

subscriber lock

hello.. my xperia x8 was originally subscriber locked and was unlocked by a technician (i ddnt know how and what he did) while being retained on stock and unrooted.
now the question is, will the unlock remain once i flash a custom rom such as ginger dx?
if not, how can i disable the subscriber lock?
thanks in advance for your replies..
Not at all....your bootloder remains unlocked always if it is done properly.
Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
thank you for replying.. i hav more questns tho..
youre saying that the subscriber lock is with the bootloader?
would you consider using x8 toolbox in rooting the phone as proper?

turn off phone
take out battery
look at the BACK SIDE of PHONE(not battery)
find something like 11W30 or 10W30 or 12W30...
Write down the number
Why would you want to use toolbox??

can you ask your technician what method did he used to unlock it?
Don't install toolbox,download Flashtool
With Flashtool you can:
Root
Flash
Install apps
Clean
Install kernel
Install recovery
And for installing custom rom :
Root via flashtool
install recovery via flashtool
Put custom ROM .ZIP file on sd card
Flash custom kernel
go in recovery via phone(by pressing BACK button)
flash rom
tadaaa...you're done
what i remember is that the techncian used "credits" in unlocking but i'll ask him..
ok. flashtool it is.. im just concerned on losing the subscriber unlock and bricking the phone when installing custom kernels and roms..

[Q] Question about ROMs and warranty

Hello developers and xda members!
Some months/weeks ago I asked about rooting and warranty.I got some answers that if I unroot it or use SEUS I will not loose warranty.
This time is about roms and locked bootloaders.
If I install a CWM Recovery then flash a ROM do I void warranty? If yes is there anyway that I can make it so it's like I never flashed anything so the warranty will still last?
If yes what is the best rom I can install for LOCKED bootloader(I don't want to unlock it)?
I want a rom with good battery life + camera (I don't care if it's not 100% perfect but at least better than the stock one!)
Any answer would be helpful!
Thanks

Even if you unlock your bootlader you wont loose your warranty (if that is the reason you are not doing it).Just make a backup of your DRM keys and the unlock code and keep it safe.

I don't generally want to unlock bootloader.
Even if I don't unlock it and just install a rom(e.x Existenz) would I need to backup DRM keys?
Also can you give me a SAFE tutorial about backing them up?
I also asked about a good rom that has a good battery life and camera than the stock one.
What's your opinion about roms? What is the best based on your opinion?

If you wont be unlocking the bootlooder, you dont need the backup. Here is the thread with anything needed to get started with your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701644
I've never used the stock or other based on it (I use 4.3+ ROMs ), but other forum members say that Existenz is the best one out there.Currently, I am using the leaked 4.3,but it is for unlocked bootloaders.

Anyway so I will not void my warranty if i flash a custom rom and then "format" it with SEUS?

Oops..wrong link!Here s the right one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354704
P.S. Im not sure but I think you will still have your warranty.Back in the days, when i had my xperia x8 and it got hardbricked, I lied to my operator that it got fully discharged and it never turned on again. The trick worked and it went to Sony with a custom ROM inside of it .Anyways..today i had to revert to stock, because the tutorial for the leaked 4.3 said so, but i encountered a problem - SUS said that my phone has modified software and it didn't complete the operation.I had to flash an .ftf image file with flashtool. But after all, It was successfull.
Ehm I got a question. At the install instructions of Existenz it says
Flash the rom.
Flash NUT reboot fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2317432
Flash 12.0.A.2.254 kernel only with flashtool (see FAQ).
As I see NUT reboot fix is for Xperia Z...Do I need to install this?Do I also need to install .254 kernel only again? At the FAQ it says about How to flash 6.2.B.1.96 Kernel with flashtool <- but this kernel is for Z...What happens?
Should I flash the rom then reboot my phone and OK?
Should I flash the rom then reboot my phone and existenz rom opens and then flash the NUT reboot fix?
Should I flash the rom then instantly install the NUT reboot fix?
Should I also install the kernel (12.0.A.254)?
I am kinda confused :/

1. Flash ROM
1.b Reboot phone
2. Use .bat from NUT (I used it after OTArootkeeper failed and I couldn't mount /system r/w)
3. Flash the kernel with Flashtool
Step 1b and 2 depend on what you prefer, flashing the fix or rebooting and let the computer do the fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317432
You can use NUT for the SP. About the kernel I'm not sure. I am on LB atm.
Hope this helps (except for the kernel of course)

As you followed a guide that just ripped DooMLoRD's work from XDA, you most probably flashed the wrong kernel for your firmware, which is the cause of your problem.

Recovery Partition and ftf brick

Hey guys,
I've recently bought the Xperia Z1. Now I have some questions which weren't answered in all the guides I read through.
1. Im coming from Galaxy S3 where the recovery is stored on an seperate partition. How is it on Z1? I saw that you will flash the recovery to boot. So if I flash for example that Dualrecovery it will overwrite my kernel or is it somehow seperated too?
2. I saw that "brickclub" where people bricked their phones, just by flashing an ftf using flashtool. So that mean I can hardbrick my phone by flashing an FULL ftf and not excluding anything?
3. And another one...do you think that this device is already dead? I mean the developer support and so on. Because it has already two successors.
It would be great if someone could answer my questions.
mischa_martin
Recovery is stored in the system partition where its protected by Sony RIC . You cannot hard brick a locked bootloader since you can't change the kernel or mess with anything else. z1 is still alive just Aosp ROMs are very hard to port due to barely no kernals so all development is done on Sony stock (Benefit for LB)
---------- Post added at 05:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:55 PM ----------
Also Dual recovery doesn't flash a kernal it just sends something to the system to process something then load into ram. If you reinstall a Ftf you lose recovery.

Nooo. On LB you can only Softbrick. Only go there were you device absolutely don't work..
When you install recovery is uses an exploit which enable to disable Sony Ric then install recovery
Yes Qualcomm and Sony are open, but the Z1 just got aosp support from Sony. Remember we need Aosp kernals which are hard to make.

You can brick if you flash wrong ftf. As long you can still get into flashmode voldown and plug usb . that means your soft brick. I have been there.

Okay.
I see, that these bricks are caused by flashing parts of the .290 ftf or failed battery measure.
Sorry if I bothered you.
Just one question....
If I am on .133 can I flash .108 kernel to use that EasyRootTool?

Thanks for all your responses JPH, I learned more by reading this thread then going through the thousands of messages on the forum.
One more question though if I may, safestrap seems like a pretty good option for locked bootloaders given that you can install XZDualRecovery, yet I cannot find only a single post on this subject referencing a video from a year ago. Was it abandoned for a particular reason ?
Thanks

[Q] Official rom : updates seem to be blocked

Hello, I'm trying to update a Sony Xperia Z (from the phone's menu), but for some reason, the updates don't work, as if they were blocked. From what I've been told, someone tried to root the phone using some random tutorial on the internet, ended up in a bootloop (at the SONY logo), then flashed an official rom (4.1.2 IIRC) via flashtools or a similar software to solve the bootloop. I've checked the bootloader status dialing [*#*#7378423#*#*], and it's still locked .
I don't want to risk bricking it since it's not mine, but the person who owns it really wants to be able to update it normally via the phone (very casual user, no flashing knowledge or anything), so I would be happy if someone could help me ! So, teach me Masters, what should I do ? Thanks in advance !
P.S. : if there's already a post/tutorial about that, I'm sorry but didn't find it =)

Hello, I'm trying to update a Sony Xperia Z (from the phone's menu), but for some reason, the updates don't work, as if they were blocked. From what I've been told, someone tried to flash a custom rom, ended up in a bootloop (at the SONY logo), then flashed an official rom (4.1.2 IIRC) via flashtools or a similar software... As far as I know OTA doesn't work with unlocked bootloader (correct me, If I'm wrong).
Sony PC Companion won't work either, because your friend/you had unlocked your bootloader.
You can relock it, but it won't work either way, if you don't have TA-Backup with your DRM keys, I think

Hello, and thanks for your answer ! I just talked with the person who tried to modify the phone, and actually, he didn't install a custom rom, he just tried to root the phone following some random tutorial, then ended up in a bootloop. He doesn't know if he unlocked the bootloader or not, but to solve the bootloop, he flashed an official rom via his pc (flashtools or something similar), as I said in the previous post... does that change anything ? Anyway, I'm gonna edit the OP to make things more clear.
EDIT : just checked the bootloader status by typing [*#*#7378423#*#*] in the dialer, it's NOT unlocked. =)

Well, that explains everything.
Firstly, you've to download Flashtool (I suggest you to read carefully the information provided in the link) and install its drivers. If you've already done it, you can proceed futher.
♦ I suggest you to go straight to the newest version (4.4.4) Generic. Here is .FTF file, which needs to be put in flashtool /firmware(s) folder (your friend should know it): Generic 4.4.4 FTF HERE
Before start, make sure you know what are you doing and it is only your responsibility.
By flashing .ftf you won't brick your device unless you'll try to flash custom kernel on locked bootloader or something like this.
If you need a tutorial which describes how to flash .ftf, then quote this message and I'll try sort this thing out with you

Awesome ! Yes, indeed, if you could tell me how to do it or link me to a tutorial, that would be very appreciated ! I already have flashtools installed, but don't know the commands, or the right steps to flash something without using a recovery. Anyway, thanks for your time ^^
EDIT : I forgot to indicate that I'm running flashtools on linux, so no interface, everything has to be done with commands lines... so the tutorial in the link in your previous post can't be used with my os, I think !
