subscriber lock - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello.. my xperia x8 was originally subscriber locked and was unlocked by a technician (i ddnt know how and what he did) while being retained on stock and unrooted.
now the question is, will the unlock remain once i flash a custom rom such as ginger dx?
if not, how can i disable the subscriber lock?
thanks in advance for your replies..

Not at all....your bootloder remains unlocked always if it is done properly.

thank you for replying.. i hav more questns tho..
youre saying that the subscriber lock is with the bootloader?
would you consider using x8 toolbox in rooting the phone as proper?

Yes....you probably have unlocked bootloader.....would you minfd to look under the battery for a date number?
turn off phone
take out battery
look at the BACK SIDE of PHONE(not battery)
find something like 11W30 or 10W30 or 12W30...
Write down the number
Why would you want to use toolbox??
PRESS THANKS if someone helped, don't just say thanks

Didn't brick during unlock progress? Sooo lucky!!!
-you can install flash-tools app (latest may not support x8) & download a custom kernel then flash kernel ... (read guides)
Then flash roms from recovery

can you ask your technician what method did he used to unlock it?
Don't install toolbox,download Flashtool
With Flashtool you can:
Root
Flash
Install apps
Clean
Install kernel
Install recovery
And for installing custom rom :
Root via flashtool
install recovery via flashtool
Put custom ROM .ZIP file on sd card
Flash custom kernel
go in recovery via phone(by pressing BACK button)
flash rom
tadaaa...you're done

what i remember is that the techncian used "credits" in unlocking but i'll ask him..
ok. flashtool it is.. im just concerned on losing the subscriber unlock and bricking the phone when installing custom kernels and roms..

You can use latest flashtool 0.51 for unlocking X8 bootloader.Just click unlock button in plugin menu. I have unlocked my w8 by manually selecting device as E15 (x8).You have to be on stock ROM for this to work.
Although I can flash custom kernels ,all stuck after displaying Logo.Inbuilt recovery is working. At last i have to re flash stock kernel . I think some modification required for X8 custom kernel for use in w8. Any one succeded in custom kernel in w8?

I unlock bootloader on GDX v19 without any problem to match with linux kernel..
then a few days I notice my phone no network anymore..
then I go back to stock kernel with flashin tool (instead SEUS), I got a same thing..( but when in stock rom I got "please insert sim card")..
I tried with SEUS ="your phone updated"...
finally I sent to the company who provide the warranty..
and yesterday I just found a thread how to solve "no network problem" in Q&A..
huhu..
OK so quick review
if i want to unlock boolloader:
-flash tool 0.5.0.... and drivers
-stock rom installed
-later install again custom rom
or did i miss something?
p.s. where to find stock rom? accidently i deleted my first backup from PC.
so stock rom is like custom roms in ZIP files and using xrecovery to put them back on ot some TFT file i read about.
thanks
dangerous
people have unlocked their bootloaders for x8 before but now it is very dangerous. if it goes wrong it can= full brick which = you need to send it off to sony ericsson to have it fixed. full brick is impossible to crack. if you have a different brick then you could possibly unbrick it. only unlock your bootloader if you alright if you phone screws up. but a good side on unlocking the bootloader is that we can flash custom kernels install new drivers ( i think we can do that when our phones rooted anyway. my phone is rooted and running gingerdx and i have installed cypress multitouch)
etc... if you plan on doing that then good luck and may the force be with you

[Q] How to root nexus one 2.3.6 with locked boatloder

Hi guys
Can any one tell me how to root nexus one 2.3.6 ,i have locked boatloader.

Try SuperOneClick
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
or unlock the bootloader, fastboot custom recovery and flash ROM of choice.
Try this

Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Use this. I just rooted my stock 2.3.6 nexus using this method. Takes less then a minute once everything is downloaded. Just make sure to extract all the files into the same location as the adb.exe file. Usually its in android/platform-tools.
Good luck and let us know if you have any questions.
BTW it does not unlock you bootloader either!

Is that a compulsion that super one click must be in the same location as adb n sdk tools?

You're good to go. Just install a custom recovery
CWM or Amon Ra, you can install them via Rom Manger.
hi
I tried to install custom ROM but when phone reboot it stuck on "triangle android" seems first i have to unlock my boatloader.
Can you post me link..
It means that you didn't flash the file that removes stock recovery reinstaller - and stock recovery is reinstalled on stock ROM boot.
Reboot back to ROM, root again, this time when you reboot to recovery first time, flash the file. It's found in Nexus One Wiki, section "Recovery".

Its not at all necessary to unlock the bootloader. Did u install custom recovery before flashing a custom rom? I think u skipped that step.
Simple and best way for starters like us is to
1.root via super one click root
2. Install rom manager from market and wid the help of that, flash clockworkmod(cwm) recovery.
3. Install Titanium backup from market and do a backup up of ur apps.
4. Choose the correct rom of ur choice by reading the OP and the thread.
5. Download it and install it via rom manager.
6. Before that back up your current rom and wipe the system, cache, dalvik cache.
Thats it, u r good to go.
This is how i did n doing good
PS: Am just a newbie, so if there's any mistakes in my steps pls correct me.

Does SuperOneClick works on Nexus One stock rom 2.3.6?

Do I need to flash stock kernel first? Where can I find it?

Sorry, I meant 2.1.
I just want be sure. Can it be done with PCCompanion even if I have custom kernel and unlocked bootloader? Is there any risk of ending up with a bricked phone?
I searched the forum and some members argued in their posts that you can't use PCCompanion to repair phone if you have unlocked bootloader.
If this is true, can I flash stock kernel and what's the procedure to do so?
Where can i download stock kernel?

Instructions in PCC:
1. Drag the status bar downwards
2.Tap USB connected
3.Tap Mount
4.PCC will connect to the phone
But, the problem is that that when I tap USB connected i don't have an option Mount on my phone, just USB storage (this is not correct translation, my phone language is croatian)
Problem solved!
I used Flashtool and X8_E15_2.1.1.C.0.0_generic.ftf
ok,good:good:
next time post your question at Q&A and not in general
Of coure the pcc doesn't detects your phone, you need the stock kernel for that, but i'm glad you find a 2.1 and solved the problem as you said.

[Q Help] Flash ROM's on Z1?

Hey to all XDA Users, I hope you are in good spirit today!
I am back again!
When I was flashing my HTC HD2 everyday I was close to a Professor now I upgraded to Xperia Z1 and I am stupid again as F...!
The Z1 I think is an awesome device but I am really disappointed for many reasons.
I can't select Governors and Frequences for low consumption of energy.
I can't put data folders on External microSD and use the internal Storage for Apps ONLY. (I am already out of storage).
I can't use many app because the OS is not rooted.
I don't have many Option in Settings to improve the Phone.
It's slow.
Drain Battery.
...ecx....
So like any Android Phone the best way to make it fly is to flash some good ROM.
How?
I was reading in the forum about some tricks to put the phone in some condition to flash the available roms but I really will be glad if someone can explain to me all the process to How flash the Rom.
I know is a stupid question but flash the Z1 is not even close to what I was doing with my old friend HD2 and I want to be sure to do all well.
Thanx in advance.
You should post this in the QA section, anyway, root your device first - install recoveries - download preferred rom - push to SD card - Reboot to recoveries - wipe system, cache and dalvik cache - Flash ROM. You should be fine

[Q] Question about ROMs and warranty

Hello developers and xda members!
Some months/weeks ago I asked about rooting and warranty.I got some answers that if I unroot it or use SEUS I will not loose warranty.
This time is about roms and locked bootloaders.
If I install a CWM Recovery then flash a ROM do I void warranty? If yes is there anyway that I can make it so it's like I never flashed anything so the warranty will still last?
If yes what is the best rom I can install for LOCKED bootloader(I don't want to unlock it)?
I want a rom with good battery life + camera (I don't care if it's not 100% perfect but at least better than the stock one!)
Any answer would be helpful!
Thanks

Even if you unlock your bootlader you wont loose your warranty (if that is the reason you are not doing it).Just make a backup of your DRM keys and the unlock code and keep it safe.

Also can you give me a SAFE tutorial about backing them up?

If you wont be unlocking the bootlooder, you dont need the backup. Here is the thread with anything needed to get started with your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701644
I've never used the stock or other based on it (I use 4.3+ ROMs ), but other forum members say that Existenz is the best one out there.Currently, I am using the leaked 4.3,but it is for unlocked bootloaders.

Oops..wrong link!Here s the right one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354704
P.S. Im not sure but I think you will still have your warranty.Back in the days, when i had my xperia x8 and it got hardbricked, I lied to my operator that it got fully discharged and it never turned on again. The trick worked and it went to Sony with a custom ROM inside of it .Anyways..today i had to revert to stock, because the tutorial for the leaked 4.3 said so, but i encountered a problem - SUS said that my phone has modified software and it didn't complete the operation.I had to flash an .ftf image file with flashtool. But after all, It was successfull.
Ehm I got a question. At the install instructions of Existenz it says
Flash the rom.
Flash NUT reboot fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2317432
Flash 12.0.A.2.254 kernel only with flashtool (see FAQ).
As I see NUT reboot fix is for Xperia Z...Do I need to install this?Do I also need to install .254 kernel only again? At the FAQ it says about How to flash 6.2.B.1.96 Kernel with flashtool <- but this kernel is for Z...What happens?
Should I flash the rom then reboot my phone and OK?
Should I flash the rom then reboot my phone and existenz rom opens and then flash the NUT reboot fix?
Should I flash the rom then instantly install the NUT reboot fix?
Should I also install the kernel (12.0.A.254)?
I am kinda confused :/

Should I also install the kernel (12.0.A.254)?
I am kinda confused :/

1. Flash ROM
1.b Reboot phone
2. Use .bat from NUT (I used it after OTArootkeeper failed and I couldn't mount /system r/w)
3. Flash the kernel with Flashtool
Step 1b and 2 depend on what you prefer, flashing the fix or rebooting and let the computer do the fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317432
You can use NUT for the SP. About the kernel I'm not sure. I am on LB atm.
Hope this helps (except for the kernel of course)

Always glad to help but remember, in case of unlocked BL, SUS will not work.
