no way. There was one case where a Verizon Dinc2 rom worked but flashing another phone's rom won't work unlesss you port it
Wont it brick?
Sent from one of the few remaining Incredible S'
In a lot of cases no, it just won't boot as its the wrong board
This is kind of what happens when devs port or build a new ROM. I flashed a thunderbolt ROM hoping it would work and tried to port it and my phone didn't brick itself

lol kool. I NEARLY flashed a rom for SensationXL and flashed a superwipe script for DesireHD. Luckily i flashed the IncS script over it . This was while installing ARHD

Hi,
I am a new owner of a Nexus One, and I would like to install a new rom in it. Which one do you recomend?
Thnaks.
As enomther is gone (havn't read all the posts lately on his thread) I'm on cyanogen 7 RC4 currently (since 2 days) and I'm really pleased for now. Nothing that bad happened and I got most of the features I liked from enomthers rom. I'm not sure if it's right but it seems to me that cyanogen is currently the way to go (at least for me).
Maybe this thread isn't located right here, has nothing development related, general would be much better I think.
try this one http://www.evervolv.com/
great rom, fast, stable, works great for a day use without wonk
you can flash with it darktremor beta 4 and a new kernel from inetersecraven
Reading is your friend. And as far as time go try them till you find one you like. Simple.
Also wrong section. Should be in general. This has nothing to do with development.
If you want sense than use MODACOS Desire_port... of you want gingerbread use cyanogen rc 4! Very stable and fast!

Use MM HTC Desire HD v1.7 ROM, it is by far the smoothest ROM and the best UI using HTC Sense. The ROM can be further modded and tweaked to maximize your Nexus One.

The thread of MM is VERY confusing! Which is the neweset version, the 1.7 final or the 2.14? Is it based on desire or desireHD? Is it possible to get the stock look of htc sense? Is that ROM smoother than MoDaCos original desire port?
Stock ?
No-one prepared to stick up for stock Gingerbread ?
I am, was on custom ROMs all of last year but now dropped onto stock 2.3.3 & enjoying the speed, stability and features. You can always add themes and apps to change it around.
I am struggling with the Radio - it takes a long time to pick up the GPS signal, need to look for a Radio fix somewhere.

For Desire HD port, the v1.7 is Final and you can flash just that.
For the earlier Desire port (non-HD), the v2.16 is the final version.
Flashing either one will give you the stock look of HTC Sense by default (except for the 3G and battery icons) when you first boot into the ROM. The theme and skin is basically changeable, so you have choices of stock look or another theme/skin.
Yes, I have tried MoDaCos and ALL the other ROMs and have compared them for almost 1 week non-stop. The smoothness of Desire ported ROM cannot be beat. It may not be the fastest ROM, but it's very smooth and stable (and you get the beautiful HTC feel). One main thing I like about HTC Sense UI is that it's got many useful phone functions when you use it as a phone on a daily basis. Let's face it, the best smartphone should also act like the best phone. I am currently on MM Desire HD v1.7, and if you want the stock 3G & battery icons back, there is a guy that posted a modified framework-res.apk that can be flashed to get the stock icons back. Everything works in the ROM except for HTC Locations which I just cannot get to work. Built-in WiFi Hotspot does not work, but there is Wireless Tethering included in v1.7 which will provide you the same function. Also, make sure you flash 5.12 radio for the best signal performance.
Good luck!
So... you made me curious
So the Desire Port (2.16) is smoother than MoDaCos ROM and the desire HD port (1.7) is even smoother than the desire port (2.16)?
Do one have to create an ext-partition o sd-card?
The only thing that bothers me is that HTC Locations does not work

Hi,
The 5.12 radio isn't exclusive for Korean models?
Thanks.
is it possible to flash a hd2 or mytouch 4g rom on to nexus one because the one for the nexus one does not support tmobile wifi calling which is very important for me. The miui roms for hd2 and mytouch have the wifi calling function but i want sure if i can flash those roms on my nexus one.
Yep flash away

thanks... so if i flash a mytouch miui rom it wont effect my phone? i wont brick my phone or anything?

WOA!! DO NOT FLASH!! The reason that there are different ROM's for different phone models is because they all have different hardware. A ROM designed for the MT4G won't work on your N1. At best the ROM won't flash, but at worst it could brick your phone.
A ROM that was ADAPTED from a different phone, such as a Sense UI ROM for the N1 is ok, but never flash and tom intended for USE on a different phone.
I am using Miui 2.4, which is nice but I would like to, return to the official ROM, as I bought the phone. Is this possible? Or do I have to buy another phone? The reason I want to go back to Stock Rom is because, I want a bug free ROM and some application like skype do not work on Miui well.
I also want to keep the root option on so I can overclock it.
Where can I find the official latest HTC rom online (from Europe)?
Any help on restoring my phone?
Thanks!
Also when is HTC going to support ICS+ on Incredible s?
Try ARHD. It is the exact same as stock just with boosted performance.

i installed cm10 on my uk desire c but searched around here and it seems i need to return to stock rom to use the sim unlock code i bought, i tried flahing untouched rom v2.0eu but it just hangs on htc start up screen, is there a rom i could use just to sim unlock?
any help is much appreciated.
If I'm not wrong, the instructions say any sense based custom rom. So you should try revolution sense 5 rom or sensational rom. It will work

great advice, i installed sensational rom, worked perfect and my phone is now sim free
very much appreciated.
When you flashed untouched rom did you flashed a kernel wich works with sense based roms? Like prometheus.
Nope kernel doesn't work with sense, I tried to install untouched rom too some days ago, but I didn't flash a working kernel so my phone got stucked on htc screen with red writings

Ok. with a few people trying to do this i decided to give it a go.
I HAVE NO DEVICE TO TEST THIS ON.
Flash at your own risk. I am not liable for any
problems that do occure from this rom
i may be able to test these this weekend when the girl comes over. if anyone tests these please let me know what the outcome is.
I made 2 different ports going by 2 different guides. i named these beta 1.001 and beta 1.002
These are made from the HTC first deodex and the M4 one mini deodex.
These are compiled on the Newest September 2013 versions of both. trimmed from 1gb to below 600mb
STOCK htc first kernel
No Root
Debloated at&t apks and some useless files
Htcspeak.apk removed (190mb)
TEST VERSION DOWNLOADS
]beta1.001 removed
Beta1.002 Download this versions boots to the boot animation and stalls at HTC ONE Logo
thanks JMZ for the deodex roms.

cool i tried to port it awhile back with no luck so if one of them worked it would be awesome. i gave my First to my daughter so i would not want to test it and mess up "her" phone also I have her on the latest update cause I had to flash a RUU and did the latest by mistake so it is s-on right now and i have not been able to downgrade. I messed it up trying to port cm 10.1. So another reason i would not want to test till i could downgrade and re-s-off. but i do wish you luck.

chance for cm ROM????
I'll test your sense room tonight!
Any chance at getting a cm port for the first??
Would love latest cm on this phone
I tried the latest beta version of a HTC One Mini port by nlsolja123 yesterday. It seemed to have flashed with no problem, but then it doesn't go past the "One" screen. I would let him know that I tested it since he asked has anyone done so, but I'm unable to since I'm new. Has anyone else tried it besides me?
That was a post in another thread. But it did not specify which one he tried.

i wouldnt think a cm port would be that hard once there is a htc mini cm rom but we would have to start with a 4.1.1 rom for ease.
maybe a htc one xl cm rom would be ported like jmz did the sense rom.
i would like to know what version the people are flashing and the best one i will keep up and remove the other, any one able to get a logcat ?
i am new to all this so any DEV help is much appreciated.
I tried both zips. After installing (I'm S-On) 001, the phone rebooted, then shut off completely. It did this multiple times. I tried 002, it rebooted and went to the HTC One splash screen, but just hung there. I did a hard reboot, went into recovery, wiped everything again and rebooted, but it did the same thing.

Jmz had a post somewhere about the reason he was able to port Sense to the first pretty easily is because even though it looks like stock aosp under FB home it is still HTC and still sense based. I am guessing till the kernel would need to be worked on to port a cm rom. Also in many of the guides i have read on porting roms it says the port and base roms have to be the same android version i bet that would be the problem here. so till we can get a update to 4.2.2 from AT&T there might not be any luck.

In some sense I agree. But, my old HTC one x, had cm4.3 when only the 4.1 was available. And recently 4.2.2 just release this month for it. Going by the specs of the one mini. Everything is identical except the cameras and the batterys. Same processor, and ram size maybe it could be a hboot holding us back. Would be nice if CM picked up a device and set us up a 4.3 Base .
Alright I'm stand here confused..... Why are you trying to port 4.2.2 from HTC Mini.?
For starters you'd have to use HTC Mini kernel source and add HTC First coding on it to have even a chance if booting 4.2.2... Because a 4.1.2 kernel will not boot 4.2.2.
Why don't you port sense 5 4.1.2 to the device, you would hold a higher chance if it booting

Good Luck!
if its a kernel problem. flash jmz's kernel and see if it helps (now that i think of it i doubt it will.)
Then...if you need a good back up...i have one just pm me ill send you the dl link of the stock rom back up rooted
another thing...
HAS ANYONE tried this rom and been able to restore a back up? or has anyone gotten this to work?
EDIT:
By the way...im no rom dev but using my human logic why not do this:
Get the NEXUS rom. like a stock aosp rom (odex or deodexed) and then simply take OUR stock rom, take the drivers from it, (or from the htc one mini which has ALMOST the same hardware) and put those drivers into the nexus rom. Then the kernel? um...as usual that i have no idea how the hek it is made. But still...is this feasible?
