Ok. with a few people trying to do this i decided to give it a go.
I HAVE NO DEVICE TO TEST THIS ON.
Flash at your own risk. I am not liable for any
problems that do occure from this rom
i may be able to test these this weekend when the girl comes over. if anyone tests these please let me know what the outcome is.
I made 2 different ports going by 2 different guides. i named these beta 1.001 and beta 1.002
These are made from the HTC first deodex and the M4 one mini deodex.
These are compiled on the Newest September 2013 versions of both. trimmed from 1gb to below 600mb
STOCK htc first kernel
No Root
Debloated at&t apks and some useless files
Htcspeak.apk removed (190mb)
TEST VERSION DOWNLOADS
]beta1.001 removed
Beta1.002 Download this versions boots to the boot animation and stalls at HTC ONE Logo
thanks JMZ for the deodex roms.

cool i tried to port it awhile back with no luck so if one of them worked it would be awesome. i gave my First to my daughter so i would not want to test it and mess up "her" phone also I have her on the latest update cause I had to flash a RUU and did the latest by mistake so it is s-on right now and i have not been able to downgrade. I messed it up trying to port cm 10.1. So another reason i would not want to test till i could downgrade and re-s-off. but i do wish you luck.

chance for cm ROM????
I'll test your sense room tonight!
Any chance at getting a cm port for the first??
Would love latest cm on this phone
I tried the latest beta version of a HTC One Mini port by nlsolja123 yesterday. It seemed to have flashed with no problem, but then it doesn't go past the "One" screen. I would let him know that I tested it since he asked has anyone done so, but I'm unable to since I'm new. Has anyone else tried it besides me?
That was a post in another thread. But it did not specify which one he tried.

i wouldnt think a cm port would be that hard once there is a htc mini cm rom but we would have to start with a 4.1.1 rom for ease.
maybe a htc one xl cm rom would be ported like jmz did the sense rom.
i would like to know what version the people are flashing and the best one i will keep up and remove the other, any one able to get a logcat ?
i am new to all this so any DEV help is much appreciated.
I tried both zips. After installing (I'm S-On) 001, the phone rebooted, then shut off completely. It did this multiple times. I tried 002, it rebooted and went to the HTC One splash screen, but just hung there. I did a hard reboot, went into recovery, wiped everything again and rebooted, but it did the same thing.

Jmz had a post somewhere about the reason he was able to port Sense to the first pretty easily is because even though it looks like stock aosp under FB home it is still HTC and still sense based. I am guessing till the kernel would need to be worked on to port a cm rom. Also in many of the guides i have read on porting roms it says the port and base roms have to be the same android version i bet that would be the problem here. so till we can get a update to 4.2.2 from AT&T there might not be any luck.

In some sense I agree. But, my old HTC one x, had cm4.3 when only the 4.1 was available. And recently 4.2.2 just release this month for it. Going by the specs of the one mini. Everything is identical except the cameras and the batterys. Same processor, and ram size maybe it could be a hboot holding us back. Would be nice if CM picked up a device and set us up a 4.3 Base .
Alright I'm stand here confused..... Why are you trying to port 4.2.2 from HTC Mini.?
For starters you'd have to use HTC Mini kernel source and add HTC First coding on it to have even a chance if booting 4.2.2... Because a 4.1.2 kernel will not boot 4.2.2.
Why don't you port sense 5 4.1.2 to the device, you would hold a higher chance if it booting

Then...if you need a good back up...i have one just pm me ill send you the dl link of the stock rom back up rooted
another thing...
HAS ANYONE tried this rom and been able to restore a back up? or has anyone gotten this to work?
EDIT:
By the way...im no rom dev but using my human logic why not do this:
Get the NEXUS rom. like a stock aosp rom (odex or deodexed) and then simply take OUR stock rom, take the drivers from it, (or from the htc one mini which has ALMOST the same hardware) and put those drivers into the nexus rom. Then the kernel? um...as usual that i have no idea how the hek it is made. But still...is this feasible?

Flashed the lockscreen and weather app with CWM. Killed my phone. Just startet looping at the "HTC quietly brilliant" screen.
No problem to fix and go back off course but still...
Can anyone tell me how to get it to work?
I tried flashing CoreDroid. It looks very nice and have many of the things i want. But i want it in the stock ROM.
Anyone can give my a kind of idiot guide to emplement some 3.0 stuff in my IS?
Me too, I'm new to customising Android. I have done iphones and psp in the past but the information is not clear on this topic and seems to be all over the place and spread accross many topics.
I currenty have flashed the standard virgin Rom to debrand my IS and I have made it s-off and its now rooted with clockwork mod recovery installed. I would like to install some Denver 3 stuff to the standard Rom but being a noob I'm reluctant to try with out a better understanding.
Could someone please give us noobs a straight forward guide in doing this.

why don't you try the Virtuous Unity 1.25.0 Sense 3.0 based on Pyramid?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122805
It works very well for people who like sense!
Yeah just downloaded it and about to give it a shot. I hope I dont screw up my phone. Never done this before.
I just figured it would be easier to add the stuff to an existing rom rather than flash a complete custom one.
Cheers
Pat
I personaly don't like the Sense 3.0 to much animation which gets kind of boaring after some time and sucks performance and battery!
Just my oppinion
well, with a Nabdroid Backup you should ot be worried to try a new ROM as you can always go back!
I tried the first relase of the Cyanogen ROM and that's the one for me so far.
I already liked the stock ROM on the Nexus S - but not the device itself.
So the Cyanogen ist very close - but better!
Is it easy to do? the instructions seem simple enough. I have made a back up of my existing rom, so if something goes wrong I can re flash my original rom and be back to square 1 correct.
Correct - it is a full image.
You go back exactly to the point where you created the recovery.
I love this feature - it makes it possible to try out a different ROM without loosing all the work you did on the ROM.
Last thing before I do it. It says to do a full wipe? Is this done in the recovery menu? do I do wipe data/factory reset as well as wipe cache partition?
Or is this a different thing all together?
Cheers
PAt
A wipe data/factory reset is sufficient. People will say do it three times, but you only have to do it once.

Im really just after the lock screen and the weather widget. The other stuff imnot fussed about.
The resolution on the unity rom is a bit funny. It all functions great tho.
I tried the android revolution HD and that worked except for the market wouldnt download.
Is there a way to just flash the lock screen and widgets to a stock un modified virgin au ROM?
Cheers

Would HIGHLY recommend this ROM:

There's nothing different to the Stock Rom apart from the fact it runs alot more smoothly.
You then install this:-
•HTC Sense 3.0 "All in 1" (version 0.3) for Android Revolution HD 1.0.x
And voila - Sense 3.0
Thats the one I had and the market didnt work, formated and flashed it 3 times.

Hi guys!
Since two days I'm trying to create a ROM based on HTC Sense, porting from HTC Desire to our Nexus One using, as a base, the RCADSmixHD ROM.
I've been able to complete the entire package .zip and installing succesfully, BUT at reboot I'm stuck at the Nexus logo...
Do you think it's a kernel-related issue?
I really don't have any other ideas...
EDIT: I'd also like to know how to develop/modify a kernel for our Nexus One, but based on HTC roms... Someone has guides/links?
Try to Flash this Kernel: 2.6.35.6-eViL--10-7--1-wmcfg by eViL D:
You can find dl link here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16995049&postcount=2
I had problems with the kernel include in RCADS on my N1
Thanks but no changes here... BTW the kernel included in RCADS rom works with my Nexus.. But here in this new ROM that I'm trying to develop I don't know what's wrong...
My guess there's something wrong with the ROM itself you probably have a few lines of code somewhere that are not working right. Were you able to compile the code on your computer?
Well, actually I'm trying to port a Sense ROM from HTC Desire with 250mb fit into /system/... I think that's the problem because my Nexus One could have bad blocks and/or less space into /system/, so this ROM wouldn't fit. I think so.
Regarding the code, I haven't written any kind of code, apart from looking at updater-script to be ok... Other suggestions? Thanks anyway, much appreciated
Now I'm trying to port a different ROM, the Desire S Gingerbread 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0!
But after replacing many folders and files from a Sense Rom of the Nexus One and the target Sense Rom that I'm developing, I have replaced boot.img and edited the updater-script properly (I think).
After installation, it's stuck at the Nexus logo... always!
What's wrong????????
Look at your logcat.
And at your /proc/kmsg.
If you don't know what these 2 mean - read up on those, use some googling.
If you can't - I believe you won't be able to develop anything worthy, or anything at all.
Moreover, Nexus has 145MB on /system partition. You need to utilize SD-EXT partition and symlink parts of the ROM to make it fit.
If I'm speaking Chinese and you can't figure it out - read the previous paragraph
From your posts I can't detrmine if you are developing or just trying to flash the rom to your phone, since you haven't done any coding. Am I misunderstanding?

You're right, because I'm not coding for a completely new ROM..
I'm just trying to "assemble" different pieces of ROMs together, a porting!
The only thing to "code" is the updater-script (or update-script)...
I have some errors there and I can't really determine why certain things goes wrong.. for now I don't have full knowledge of system partitions of Android.
And now I don't have enough time to fully explore this complex world
I have just tried for a couple of days...

What did you add to the updater-script? And which folders specifically did you replace and change? And did you use a rooted ROM or the OTA one for the desire?
@Ace42:
Hi, I had used a rooted ROM from the Desire thread and I have followed this pretty useful guide which illustrates how to port Sense Roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1222746
I have also had a look at almost all the files into each folders to see if there was differences in the code between the 2 roms..!
BTW the problem is in the updater-script...
For example I'm not able to mount "sd-ext", which is one of the most important steps to do for the Rom to being able to run into the device.
Look at that link properly, porting sense to OTHER SENSE DEVICES.
N1 isn't a sense device.
First, porting is more than replacing your boot.img and changing your update-script.
Like the other user said, you need to symlink files to your SD card cause N1 just isn't big enough.
Second, you're taking roms from other devices, most probably you'd have to re-write or mod the drivers.
Third, Porting just isn't that easy.
@illuminarias:
-> I know that, and in fact N1 becomes a Sense device when it has a Sense rom already installed... so it can be compared with other Sense devices.
-> I also know that we must symlink files, and you do that by adding lines of code into the updater-script (or update-script)!
-> If no one starts from something, how do you think that development for N1 can continue??

Yes, the same for me. I Love my nexus one with sense. Currently i also working on a gb sense rom for my nexus. Update Script is done and system should fit now with 151mb into the nexus rom. I ll will try to install & boot it at the weekend. Base was the currrent 2.3.3 Desire Release... Hopefully it fits into the small system and boots , to get logcats to work with...
If someone want to help & try, please contact me. I can upload the rom then to test. Currently i don´t have a lot of time , maybe together we get a working release...
@Deep-Knight:
Yep, I was working yesterday evening with the official Desire gingerbread update from HTC, but, as always, I'm stuck at the Nexus logo, after the installation is done... :/
I think I'm doing something wrong with system partition.. I know that our N1 can handle only 150mb for /system...
But I must admit that I'm using almost the same updater-script and boot.img as the N1Sensation v0.5 rom or RCADSmixHD rom..

Just make a thread and upload your beta version, theres a plenty of people here able to test and help.
Thank you Menelkir for your interest!
But first I'll have to create something useful.. Maybe later on I'll create a new thread..
Till now I'm using some HTC Desire's ROM from the dedicated section here at XDA.
Stay tuned guys
As always graphical glithces will not be solved, until HTC releases Desire's Source Code..
The code is released already.
Unfortunately, the real trouble with porting ROMs is fixing the things that don't work - which will include trackball, hotspot etc - and this is the part where most of ROMs fail, because very few developers are skilled enough for that.
I recently bought a HTC Vivid earlier this evening and before that I had a HTC Inspire 4G which I successfully rooted with ace hack tool and AosopX ICS Rom latest BR4. I wanted to upgraded to a dual core phone so I bought the Vivid. Anyways, I manually installed the updated 4.0 ICS w/ HTC Sense 3.6 on the Vivid. I fell in love with the interface ICS on my Inspire 4G which I know is the original ICS interface.
I've looked around the forums and there are too many confusing topics and terminology which I don't understand. Is there an ICS rom as close to the
ICS 4.0 update for the Vivid but just without the sense 3.6 interface?

You're looking for a close-to-AOSP ROM. There are a couple in the Development section (Virtuous Inquisition, and a Senseless ROM) I'd recommend searching google for Vivid ROMs, the development for this device is not centralized at XDA. There are some really good ROMs out there - modded stock ROMs, CM variants, "De-sensed/Senseless" ROMs, etc..
To install any of them, you'll need to unlock the bootloader through HTCDev, flash a custom recovery, manually flash the boot.img, then flash the ROM.
Yeah, I definitely recommend the Virtuous Inquisition ROM. It's as pure to AOSP as you can get I think. I've been using it for a couple weeks now, and I love it. I'll post some screenshots so you can see it.

Flashed it from the sd card. To anyone who has this kernel why won't I able to customize the setting from the system itself? Only way i can customize is to go back to the recovery and flash it again. And on bootloader why does it say its still S-ON? I thought flashing this kernel will S-Off my device or am I wrong? I downloaded the desensed rom and I heard that particular rom is already rooted according to jenkem 110.

It's your basic system functions, it doesn't have like "sweep2wake" like some of the other kernels out there might, but honestly I wouldn't use that function even if I had it. But since I installed it correctly, I haven't seen any issues thus far; first I didn't flash it right so my Wifi wasn't working.. didn't realise I had to do that thru fastboot bc I'm S-On, for like a couple weeks lol. Hope this helps!

I went ahead and tried desensed rom first. I actually like it a lot but only thing is missing is the beats by dre feature, a few oem apps are missing and dial pad is white instead of blue.

Yeah, I had that ROM for awhile too.. the one by Team CodeFire. But I wanted a ROM with the blue AOSP accents, then I found Virtuous Inquisition by cruzin_cruzing.. and I've loved it ever since. It has DSP Manager, which actually in alot of ways, is better the Beats Audio. It gives you more options for sound quality improvement while playing music.

Direct me to the right links I I can try it out. Sweepstakes is pretty cool. I can get Lost finding the power button at times when I'm not paying attention. Would I able to customize faux on the system instead of having to keep flashing it to customize it?

Huh, I never thought of it like that.. maybe I'll try n find a kernel that has that option, one that works with this ROM. Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631499
As far as customizing on the system, I haven't been able to do much; most is with the help of SetCPU, for overclocking. Some installers I've seen, like Aroma or something allow for tweaking the kernel or ROM, before it's flashed. But I think, to customize you'll have to flash it..

So the kernel is pretty much built in the rom? What about the camera? What did they mean by the camera app has been replaced?
my apologies if this question has been asked before but since i couldnt find it anywhere so i am posting now:
this is my first time rooting an android device and that too coz recently my htc desire c had become super slow so i unlocked bootloader and downloaded the hasoon2000 tool but after the recovery step i was totally lost on how to flash kernel and all so i switched to superboot and i successfully rooted my phone.
now i wanted to install a rom so i chose nameless rom but the instructions were so confusing and i messed up. i couldn't install it and then my phn wnt start so i went back to hasoon2000 and flashed kernel using the boot.img from the nameless rom and my phn was back up but my wifi is not on anymore. its says error and i saw that my mac address was gone. then i tried again installing the rom and this time i did successfully install it but my wifi is gone
i have two questions:
1. how can i get my wifi back in this rom?
2. can i install any other rom and if i do then will i get my wifi back?

Click on the second link in my signature.. Look for Prometheus Sense Kernel there. Flash that using fastboot, (or the toolkit) and your wifi should be back.

The 'method' to install any ROM is the same and its not difficult. And there is no such thing as a best rom. It's just personal preferences. So if you like HTC Sense, then go for Revolution or Sensational Rom. And if you like a more 'Nexus-like' feel then we've got a lot of JB Roms for you. JB ROMs are believed to be faster than Sense ROMs in general.
So just look at threads of the different ROMs and once you decide to install, download it. I'm running Cyanogenmod 10 right now. I've been using it for a long while now. It was the first JB rom made for this phone and all the other ROMs are made using this as a base..
We even have Samsung-like and Xperia-like Roms. So if you're interested in that, have a look.
And for Sense, Sensational ROM V4 is the most up to date ROM we have. It has a Sense 5 feel to it..
Hope that helps a bit. One more thing - never ask for best rom or best kernel. It's bad manners. But we can understand as you're new..
Hi, I'm new here and new also to rooting etc.
I have successfully unlocked and rooted my M7 and using TWRP recovery.
I am under the impression you can't update OTA when rooted, I would like a standard ROM with sense 6, but I just have a couple of questions....
1. Could someone supply a link to the best stable Sense 6 ROM suitable for an unlocked UK M7?
2. Could you also explain how to install the ROM using some not too technical language
Thanks for your help
Ben

I cant tell you much as I am using Miui rom and i have killed an M7 a while back but Viper ROm is the best I have used and that is Sense 6. Bare in mind I have not used a Sense 6 rom at all but last Viper i used was 5.5 and it was great.
There is Android Revolution HD, im not sure if this is Sense 6 but is is a custom rom as close to stock that you can get.
Just download the ZIP and enter your receovery and flash, it is simple as. Just dont wipe internal SD card..

So I download the zip file on my computer, where do I save it on my phone, bearing in mind it doesn't have an SD card?
Thanks for your help by the way
Sent from my HTC One
Just place it on the internal memory of the phone. Don't put it in any folders. Then boot into TWRP, select "Install zip from SD card" (the internal space paritition is labelled as "sdcard" due to the way android works), find the zip and install it.
Awesome, I guess I don't delete the original ROM then?

You would be well advised to make a back up of your original rom first. If something goes wrong you can go back to it, may be hard to find it on the web if you dont.
Best advice. Do a nandroid backup of your Rom now and try a few different ones. Personally I like android revolution hd. If you are going to try that use twrp 2.6.3.3. It doesn't like other versions very much

All done and appear to have no problems so far, using Renovate SixthSense Milestone 2.3.0
Thanks for your assistance and suggestions

Well, I have been using Viper One which is super stable and has got a lot of tweaks... Worth trying. The other one is the InsertCoin ROM

I know you've asked for sense roms, but I would definitely give some aosp roms a try. I've always liked aosp better. That said, it seems like development for this phone leans more towards sense based roms and definitely sense kernels. Only a couple of aosp kernels to choose from. I'm new to this phone (switched to Tmo a couple months ago and didn't want to buy a new phone on payments), but I was disappointed to see that after being out for a year the aosp development was somewhat lacking.
