I have seen lots of threads about the crystal clear screen protectors and what to get. But what about anti glare ones? I want one that hides finger prints well. Which one do people usually go for?
The one we got from our local Verizon store has been the best screen protector I have used. It hides glare along with fingerprints I believe the screen protector was the same one you can get from Verizon. I have used screen protectors for everything from Nintendo DS, Tmobile G1, T-mobile My Touch, Lowrance H20c GPS, Lowarance Endura GPS.
I just bought some cheap matte screen protectors off ebay and I am very unsatisfied. Makes everything appear blurry and seems to be more reflective than my clear ones.
So I am wondering this as well... I've had good experience with matte protectors in the past since they Ward off fingerprints but this one is unsatisfactory.

Fyi I think I figured out why matte screen protectors look so bad on our phones. I'm used to my iPod touch matte screen protector which doesn't blur the screen very much at all, but then I noticed the difference in HEIGHT from the screen to the top of the glass display. If you look you'll notice there's quite a considerable gap. My iPod touch has very little distance between the surface and the screen. Unfortunately, the more distance between the matte material and the subject (in this case our screen) the blurrier the subject will be when viewed through the matte material.
So in short, matte screen protectors dont play nice with our phones period. Its part of the design and nature of the beast. Your best better is to get one of the many crystal clear screen protectors. I heard good things about the seidio one so I ordered a package of two...

SGP Steinheil Anti Fingerprint is the best one I've found. It's not blurry but it does look a little grainy up close. IMO it's a worthwhile tradeoff for having an anti-glare matte finish and no fingerprint smudges.
yeah im with whipstitch on this i have the spg anti-fingerprint one and i like it a lot it makes moving my finger across my screen super easy and they have a nice feel to them and they aren't to blurry only if you hold it really close to your face but other wise its fine.
The Boxwave doesn't sacrifice any quality but is a bit on the pricy side. From what i've seen, its the best.
Blah you guys are making me think twice about these types! Ill have to order some and see what happens. I can always fall back on the seidio ones if I'm not happy I suppose.

I'm using SGP Crystal Clear, and I love it. It's extremely anti-fingerprint compared to the stock screen, in my opinion (although it may not be as anti-fingerprint as the "Anti-Fingerprint" model). I just didn't want to sacrifice any visual quality, and I'm happy with the protector I got.
SGP, hands down.
I'm using the screen protectors from verizon. For $15 you get a set of 3.
They are not matte, but I don't struggle with glare.
I've been using the same first protector for 5months.
The highest reason I recommend this screen protector is that it's smooth.
I use the swype keyboard and other screen protectors produce dragwhen I swype my finger.
Since consensus seems to say that the stylus does not scratch a naked screen, I was wondering, does the stylus easily scratch the screen protectors you guys put on?
Since screen protectors are plastic, they are probably softer than the naked glass of the note?
What screen protector did you use that got scratched/not scratched?
Have any of SGP screen protectors users gotten their screen protectors scratched?
Because it would get annoying to have a scratched screen protector when you are looking your phone everyday, might as well go naked if the screen protector would be filled with scratched just after a week of use of the stylus.
Thanks
The cheap Ebay ones I'm running at the moment are easy to scratch with the stylus. They're even getting minor scratches from finger use. Waiting for my SGP ones to show up. I'm sure they'll be better
i ordered a boxwave protector, and havent ordered from anywhere else since I ran into the ebay problem. It's not in yet, but I imagine it will be scratch free for a good while
I'm using the skinomi screen protector and it doesn't really scratch but leave dimples and marks because the screen protector itself is so soft. It will probably be the same result with zagg skins as well, I plan on getting a harder one like from SGP later.

It has significantly scratched my SGP Ultra Clear. I noticed this clearly yesterday while sketching.
my atfolix anti glare seems just fine. in addition, it is nicer to write on since it isn't as smooth. That makes it a tiny bit noisier, and as with any anti glare protector you take a little bit of a sharpness hit.
The latter turned me off initially but people still WOW over the screen so I wonder if the sharpness hit is part imaginary.
Sounds like the Note really shouldn't have any type of lcd protector on it.

By Ultra Clear, do you mean the Ultra Crystal?
That is exactly the screen protector I plan to get. Hmmm..
Do you now think that a note without a screen protector would be better?
How annoying are the scratches on your screen?

Well, haven't seen a Realook screen protector review here on XDA.
Realook is a CA/South Korea based company who creates high quality dry screen protectors for phones.
I've used them for pretty much all my products. Cell phones, cameras etc...
Customer service is excellent and you can find their products on amazon.
First off, like all dry screen protectors (except for the tempered glass kind) for the Galaxy note 2, this SP doesn't go edge-to-edge.
If you want edge-to-edge, you can stop reading here and move on to a wet screen protector. I avoided
the edge-to-edge wet screen protector for the GN2 because of the s pen.
I also avoided the tempered glass because a.) its expensive as hell and b.) sensitivity drastically drops (according to users).
I've been told by Realook that a curved dry screen protector will be offered soon (edge-to-edge). As soon as I get a hold of one, i'll definitely be doing a review.
On to the review...
When you receive the package, there are two screen protectors, a micro cloth, alcohol wipe, and a plastic measuring sheet.
It is well packaged in a nice plastic envelope.
I've done TONS of screen protectors installs and as long as the screen protector is cut out like the screen, you can use my tape trick method.
After you line up the screen protector perfectly, tape down one end. Then quickly peel back and lay down. 100% perfect every time.
I normally do this in the bathroom after taking a hot shower to create steam and lessen the effects of dust under the SP.
The screen sensitivity is not effected, it is optically clear, and s-pen works perfectly.
Pictures do all the explaining.
In all reality, the gap around the edge isn't THAT bad considering that the screen is HUGE and most of it is covered.
clarity: 9/10
screen sensitivity: 9/10
price: 9/10
Customer service: 10/10
Even though we have gorilla glass 2, I always advise to use a SP.
Let me know if you have any questions about the SP.
Don't hesitate to purchase this SP as the quality is there and there is ZERO lift around the SP.
now the pictures!
Kudos
Thanks for the review! I was hoping to see one of these reviews on XDA soon.
I have a few questions:
- Do you see the rainbow effect on this protector? What about Orange Peel?
- Is this protector a finger-print magnet?
- How well does the protector do with dust? When applying the protector, are dust particles easily attracted by the adhesive side of the screen protector (I've had this problem many times with SGP)?
- How difficult is it to smudge this particular screen protector? Is it easy to make fine scratches on the protector (especially with the S-Pen)?
- Is this screen protector a 100% bubble-free installation; provided you use a squeegee?
I've used Capdase Klia Screen Protector before (Made in China) and the installation was easy; no bubbles on the first application; and the screen protector has anti-scratch and anti-finger-print properties; at the same time, it is Crystal Clear / Glossy; doesn't even look like a screen protector is applied on the actual screen. From what I just described, can you say the Realook Crystal Clear Protector is similar to Capdase?
Please let me know. Thanks again.

There is a VERY slight RB effect in the beginning. After ive used it for a bit, I dont notice it.
ZERO orange peel.
Yes this does attract finger prints. Its not antiglare nor has an oleophobic coating.
Simple wipe clears the finger prints.
as far as dust, try my method and do it in a bathroom after taking a shower. The moisture in the air settles the dust.
I'm sure over Time all screen protectors will eventually scratch.
As for capdase, I cant comment on it since I've Never used their products.
I've always use realook for my gadgets.
The squeegee should work. If you're going to use a card/squeegee, dont take the front layer off before installling eventhough the tabs say so. Keeping the first layer on will allow you to use the card/squeegee without worrying about scratching the sp.

Also, Would you consider Realook the best in screen protection right now compared to SGP?

I tried to look for Realook for note 2 on ebay, it clearly said on the pic, that it's anti fingerprint, anti glare, oleophobic on the packaging.
Do they have different kind or it's a false advertisement?
It mentions Crystal Clear

Don't worry; even though I haven't received mine yet, I'm sure you will be happy. The film product is Made in Korea, and the quality has to exceed expectations. I purchased Capdase long time back and it mentioned Crystal Clear; however, it had anti-fingerprint and anti-oil properties. I would expect the same from Realook "to some extent." :victory:

Hey,
I'm looking for a good screen protector for the SIII mini. Do you guys have any recommendations?
I have bought this case to protect the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2057793 , but I guess a good screen protector is always handy..
Thanks!
Sven
I've heard some good things about this http://www.amazon.co.uk/disGuard-Anti-Reflective-Screen-Protector-Samsung/dp/B009P493TQ/ref=tag_stp_s2_edpp_url brand of screen protector for a different device, but the front glass element is quite scratch resistant (Some places say it's Gorilla Glass, others that it's not). but I've tried scratching it with various metallic objects to no avail.
I think between that and the flip case, you're covered.
That's right no gorilla glass just a good scratchproof glass. You may not need a screen protector.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
Thank you both!
Seen the price & the nice layout of the protector, I think I'll buy it anyways to be sure.. Worst case scenario, I could still throw it away if it's too ugly..
Sven
For those who are interested: as you can see on the attachment, the screen protector isn't as nice as shown on Amazon. It doesn't cover the whole front, however it's nice enough IMO..
The cover is matte, so it reduces visibility a bit. I don't have experience with matte protectors, but as I'm still able to use my phone at the lowest contrast, it's OK.
The protector is very easy to apply. It said on the packaging that all (small) bubbles should be gone after 2 days. Mine has 1 bubble, but as I look closely it's because of a very little hair.. Too bad that the bubble is 1mmx1mm for some dust of 0.1mm..
How about diamond screen protector? Is it available for s3 mini?. I saw my friend used it in his s2 and quite good. scratch proof.

It depends on what you want for your screen protector.
There are many options, from your basic cheap clear screen protector to your expensive InvisibleShields. There isn't a "best" option, but it just depends on how you want the screen to feel.
- Spigen makes an excellent anti-fingerprint protector. It's a matte finish to cut down on fingerprints and smudges but also doesn't terribly distort your screen like a cheaper matte protector will.
- XtremeGuard is a nice alternative to InvisibleShield for full body protection. Although it's made of a tough material, you may not like the added friction to the screen. It is a wet-apply protector which can cause issues if you are not comfortable with putting on screen protectors.
- Tempered glass protectors are nice to keep a smooth feel on the screen, and resist scratches a bit better than a typical clear plastic protector will. Getting one with tapered or rounded edges is suggested as it will help resist cracks/chips over time, but of course it can still be damaged.
- Then you have basic clear screen protectors. You can go cheap, with random brands on Amazon, or you can go slightly more expensive like a Spigen Ultra Crystal. The cheap ones are generally fine, but can scratch a little easier and sometimes give off a "rainbow" reflection when you view it from the side with the screen off.
If you're in the US, you can purchase any of them off Amazon.
