It depends on what you want for your screen protector.
There are many options, from your basic cheap clear screen protector to your expensive InvisibleShields. There isn't a "best" option, but it just depends on how you want the screen to feel.
- Spigen makes an excellent anti-fingerprint protector. It's a matte finish to cut down on fingerprints and smudges but also doesn't terribly distort your screen like a cheaper matte protector will.
- XtremeGuard is a nice alternative to InvisibleShield for full body protection. Although it's made of a tough material, you may not like the added friction to the screen. It is a wet-apply protector which can cause issues if you are not comfortable with putting on screen protectors.
- Tempered glass protectors are nice to keep a smooth feel on the screen, and resist scratches a bit better than a typical clear plastic protector will. Getting one with tapered or rounded edges is suggested as it will help resist cracks/chips over time, but of course it can still be damaged.
- Then you have basic clear screen protectors. You can go cheap, with random brands on Amazon, or you can go slightly more expensive like a Spigen Ultra Crystal. The cheap ones are generally fine, but can scratch a little easier and sometimes give off a "rainbow" reflection when you view it from the side with the screen off.
If you're in the US, you can purchase any of them off Amazon.

Ebay is full of those protectors, my advice for you is to take a mate one... you can see clearly outside on the sun and it is stainless...

Full Body Protectors?

The Nexus S is very slippery, and gets a lot of fingerprints and scratches, at least on the battery cover. This is the reason that I want to buy a case, or a full body protector.
A case has as an advantage that it will protect your device from falling damage, but that isn't the reason I want one, so maybe it would be better to buy a full body protector! Since every full body protector protects against scratches and fingerprints, the only important thing is the grip.
I have a couple of questions about those full body protectors:
- Can you buy a full body protector without a screen protector? 'Cause I don't need one.
- Like I said, I want to have more grip. Does this mean it has to be an orange peel one? The orange peel only affects the looks and the feel, and since I'm not going to use a screen protector, it doesn't matter that much. But if there is a full body protector with a lot of grip AND without orange peel, it would be nice.
- In my case, what would you recommend? A full body protector, or a case? If I'm going to buy a case, it will definitely be the "S" curved gel case, because IMO it's the only case that doesn't mess with the looks of the Nexus S.
Thanks in advance!
there are several topics in this accessories section already commenting on many models, just read through them
I have the S shaped TPU case on my phone right now. I was a bit absent minded and bought the clear one by mistake. It doesn't look nearly as nice as the black.
I have had it on for a week now, and I can say that it makes the phone feel cheap (i don't think it feels cheap naked) The buttons are also harder to press and it is very hard to find them by touch. To remedy this I bought the Tech21 d3o pouch from someone here. Will see how it is when it arrives.

I don't think there is a topic about wheter you can buy a body protector without a screen protector or not... I'm not asking for a good full body protector, I am asking questions about full body protectors...
I got stealth shieldz from ebay just for the back protector. It protects most of the back if you can put it on correctly. The corners are a bit difficult and you might need to use a hair dryer and stretch it a little bit to get most of the back. There is no protection for the front bezel or anything.
I got 2 full body protectors for about $5. It was one of those "make an offer" listing. It's a wet application protector. I mainly bought it for back protection, I don't like the screen protector because waiting for the micro bubbles to disappear bothers me.
To answer your question, yes you can buy the full body without the front. But you'll probably need the front as well to avoid any micro scratches from occurring on the screen. Visit ghost armor or zagg or bestskinsever for the protection. The pricing of the individual pieces usually entice you to purchase the full kit.
Zagg tends to have a lot of orange Peel. No experience with BSE. I personally have ghost armor. There is a thread with pics if you search.

Thanks, but like I said, I don't need a screen protector. It is glass after all, and I don't want to mess with the touch responsiveness and colours of my display. Besides, it would be a shame that I won't be able to use the coating anymore...
I think I am just going to buy Ghost Armor or Best Skin Ever, and just throw the screen protector away or something...

Verizon G2 Tempered Glass and Diztronic Case Review

Ok I have purchased hohoo 9H Tempered Glass Screen Guard and 2 Diztronic Cases (Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case and Diztronic High Gloss Clear (Frosted Matte Inside) Flexible TPU Case)
First, the Hohoo Screen Protector...I had little trouble putting it on cause the Hohoo Screen Protector width size was exactly the size of the screen...so I spent a lot of time aligning it perfectly...but after I put it on the screen response with the protector on was good and the screen looked exactly the same as the screen without any protection. Just one thing that is bothering me is that on the top of the protector It doesnt stick well so it makes air gaps...If the air gaps were not big i will not care that much but right now it is coming down all the way to my front facing camera. when I press down on the gaps it decrease and as times goes by the gap gets bigger... I have contacted the seller and see if this is a defected product or not...so I will know pretty soon if i need to live with this or not. But in overall performance of this screen protector is really good in my opinion.
Second, the Diztronic Cases...With Hohoo Screen Protector the case fits really nicely. Its really slim case with good grip on the back. The matted black one was little bit more slippery feeling than the clear case. But the Matted black looks better than the clear one in my opinion.
All the cut out holes were perfectly aligned. This case will protect against everyday use scratches but if you drop the phone i dont think this case will protect it from saving your phone. Overall, if you want a slim case that doesnt any much bulk and protects every corner of your phone get it...if you think you will drop the phone get more bulkier case like otterbox or incipio dualpro.
I have order another Tempered glass protector called "SNP Glass Premium Tempered Glass"...It should be arriving soon so I have to see if that is better than Hohoo protector.
I have put links to the products that I have bought and some pictures.

the diztronic matte case looks really nice, probably gonna get that. Wish it didn't have the logo there but otherwise it is exactly what I want in a case for my G2. Had the Diztronic case for my Verizon Galaxy Nexus and it didn't have any logos, was hoping the logo was only there as a watermark in the Amazon photos but oh well, still want it.

It is a really good case compare to the options that there is for the verizon version. I really dont see any other that is slim as this case with decent protection. In my opinion...the logo looks not to bad....I thought about getting the poetic palette case...but it doesnt protect the bottom and the top so i skipped on that one.

I would like to know which glass screen protector is better. Please let us know. Thanks
Are you leaving the blue protector on the camera ring intentionally?
Is the Hohoo screen protector really tempered glass?
From here it lists it as PMMA.
http://www.amazon.com/Enhanced-Optical-Bulletproof-Protector-Optimus/dp/B00G46WQRE
PMMA is plexiglass.

No. I dont think it is glass...cause I think they are made by using PMMA. Its basically acrylic.
and it doesnt quite feel like glass, but close though. I might be wrong but i think this is a film that has 9h hardness made with PMMA, but with all the characteristic as the tempered glass. Im using it so far and had really no problem on the sensitivity or visual. The screen protector doesnt get scratches and it feel so much better than the cheap screen protector films.
One problem for me is that my screen protector's top part of the film was keep having gaps...so I emailed the seller...and they told me they are going to ship me a new one. In my opinion if you want to get a characteristic as tempered glass protector with less money go for this screen protector. If you want the real tempered glass screen protector then this is not for you.
I still havent received the other tempered glass protector...so until that comes im going to leave this protector on.

I left mine on. I have a Incipio Blue Feather case, and it kinda matches. It also protects.
I even have the plastic stickers still on over my back buttons. They never came off and don't interfere. so why not?
I'm getting interested in some glass SP. I have a cheap Verizon one on there now and its ok. I've seen the ones with the colored (white/black) edges that cover up the logos, which looks REALLY good. Basically looks like a whole new bevel. Have you tried those?
I'm currently looking for some comparisons. I know our screens are hard because of the tapered edges.

Ok the ones with the colored edges tempered glass protector...Well I had that kind of screen protector for my verizon galaxy nexus. The makers were from xgear...and I really didnt like it since it cracked so easily after little bump to the edge of the screen protector...so if you are thinking of buying xgear's tempered glass...i really dont recommend it. (http://www.xgearlive.com/products/android/samsung/fantom) <-- This is what I have bought...They claim it is 8H harden protector...but in my case it was really looked really weak tempered glass. It covered the whole surface of the phone but it crack easily. I had two of the same tempered glass (one black and one white) and both crack easily.
I saw this --> (http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-LG-G2-T...l_Phone_Screen_Protectors&hash=item4aca615c3b) on ebay...and was going to try it out if neither of the two tempered glass protector didnt work out for me. But only one came but it didnt fail me yet so no need to buy it right now.
But you have to think though if the screen protector is covering the whole screen you have to get a case that doesnt interfere with the screen protector. So back when I was using verizon galaxy nexus, I used cases like the poetic palette case, which has really minimum protector for the phone.
In my opinion...I really dont recommend xgears tempered glass protectors...I think they are really weak made...I personally recommend the Korean brands...or if spigen's tempered glass protectors if they make it.

Tempered Glass or Hydrogel screen protector

I've been thinking of getting something to protect my precious and the original plastic one has lots of scratches on it.
so Tempered glass or Hydrogel film?
I've been doing research on this question too. It's like a mixed reviews. But a commonly seen answer is that they regret getting the hydro gel version and stick to the conventional tempered glass as some buyers indicated after a few days, the edge came off peeling and trapping dust while some others has high static attracting dust and easily scratch.
I usually prefer Tempered glass.
Always glass, clarity and feel always superior to film.
A good brand would be Nillkin - I buy this off Ali express. The oleophobic coating is great and you can actually feel the smoothness difference vs a $2 cheapo glass protector.
http://s.aliexpress.com/rQje6z6R
I have bought it for multiple previous devices and am waiting for my Mate 10 glass delivery.
It is fragile though, have to be careful not to place it on the table face down with any sand or grit, it can scratch. Usually I have a case with a bit of a lip to protect it.
Obviously it can crack if you drop it also.

Anyone found a tempered glass protector that actually does not lift on the sides? Such a pity if one uses a glass that doesn't cover the whole display.. =(
Changed mine over to 9h yesterday. Just feels so much better than the plastic film.

What brand did you get and does it cover the whole screen?
Ozero 2 pack from Amazon. Not a bad glass. No rainbow on the screen just a little thick. Like someone else said it makes you feel like your pressing into a hole with the thicker glass. They should taper the protector around the navigation button to make it feel better. Yeah covers all the screen. Except the bottom of the navigation button.

Already got mine more than a week ago. Bought off aliexpress.
Unfortunately this time the glass is ever so slightly less than the full width of the phone - my P9 Plus Nillkin glass was edge to edge of the screen. About 0.5mm less than each side of the screen. I suspect this is because the no side bezels makes it hard to extend the glass all the way to the sides otherwise it might be non compatible with cases.
Not too irritating but definitely noticeable. Small halo effect as usual.
But overall the smoothness and the oleophobic coating definitely trumps the factory plastic protector. Still worth the buy.

Today i tried KONIX glass protector, (i guess this is just a generic glass, packed into some brand - just like many of screen protector in the market)
Just like any other 2.5D glass protector, it wont be able to cover the screen edge
But it still fit quite well, and the touch response is unaffected, or even better than on plastic (included) one
Glass cut is nicely rounded without sharp edge though, so i think this one is well manufactured
Here's some pics

Thanks... Wanted to see the one that @Cccmachins has because I ended up ordering the same Ozero TP... Guess I'll have to wait till I get it to see and decide if that works or if I need to keep looking.
The ozero just has a black frame around it so it just hides the edges of the screen completely, so you are actually losing a tad bit of screen real estate. I also bought one on Amazon that does not have the frame like the ozero and the entire edge is lifted up all the way around my screen. I think I'd prefer the plastic ones and just replace them from time to time...

That sucks... The tempered glass screen protector manufacturers seem to have a hard time making them fit perfectly on these curve edge phones... It's either to small or not sticking on the edges...

Hello friend, as a seller, we have talked to countless manufacturers to find the perfect screen protectors for our clients. As now phones screen bigger and bigger, resolution values are higher also. It is so necessary to get a high quality screen protector to protect the high valued smart phones. And the meanwhile, the screen protector cannot affect the touch sensitivity of phone screen , cannot decrease the brightness of the phone screen. So really it is not an easy solution.
Anyhow, we used to struggle which one is better? Tempered glass or hydrogel screen protector? Tempered glass is more thickness to 0.33mm, while hydrogel usually under 0.2mm, tempered glass cannot be full screen protector, while hydrogel can be full screen protector. Which is such a pity tempered glass cannot be full screen. Still except this flaw, other aspects is much much better than hydrogel protector. So we stick to tempered glass screen protector for Huawei Mate 10.
Here is what we prepare for our clients.
Flos®Huawei Mate 10 Transparent Full Protection Tempered Glass Screen Protector HD Anti-Scratch-[2 Pcs]
And we offer express shipping to Europe/USA within 1 week at 2usd shipping fees.
Also we are on Amazon for Europe.

You know,
Sometimes its hard to trust a manufacturer, who despite promise the fine quality of their product, yet still manage to slip a typo on their commercial material,
Your images misspelled "tempered" as "temepred" and it doesn't sound convincing at all for me :silly:

Ultra thin case

Anyone out there have an ultra thin case? I prefer these as it doesnt add much bulk to the phone. Whats the thinnest one available but not flush with the screen so if falls flat, the screen doesnt break.
I have a Nillkin Nature, and its pretty compact with a good grip.

Its good but you have to make sure to get the screen protectors that leave a little bit of room around the edges of the screen or the case will just push the screen protector off haha.
It is a damn good case and you can also just file off the edges to make room for the larger screen protectors like I did.

Generic Chinese ones. Always the best. Mostly because this is a phone primarily for the Chinese market so they have the best accessories for it.
Get them on Ali express. If they don't have black at the tip and bottom they should be the smaller sized ones.
Unfortunately cheap means inaccurate and you have to buy white edge remover which is a liquid you can fill the edges of the screen protector so you don't have air in between the sides of the screen and the protector. Works fine and you can get 10 bags for like $2.
Screen protector will be like $1-2 or less if you get in bulk.
Get a case with edges to protect the screen.
If the fall has enough force to break the screen protector the screen itself won't last no matter how strong or expensive the protector was.
Case is the primary defence and the glass screen protectors protect from scratches and feels nicer than plastic film.

Question Can you rely on the screen protector that comes with the phone?

I am using the screen protector that came with the phone but I am worried that it might not be that good to rely on.
I am not taking about dropping the phone or something. All am I caring about is scratches from the pen or stuff in my pocket. Can this screen protector help against these or it is useless?
The reason I kept it, because it fit so well and it does not affect the screen quality.
Obviously experience may vary quite a bit due to different conditions. For me so far the stock protector works quite well and protects the screen from scratches.
But as I like the "Glass feeling" a bit more I'll fit a tempered glass protector sometime in the future....
Agree. I will do the same. It is just not easy to find a glass protector that actually fits

Spending 70~100 USD to protect 1200$ is worth it but the problem these kind of screen protectors can not be found in Egypt I think so until I find a way to get them without paying much taxes and fees I will stick with the default S.protector
I remember Samsung saying that a glass screen cover would interfere with the fingerprint scanner. I'm curious as to whether or not that's actually the case...
I had problems with the finger reader. He caught the fourth, fifth time. (I added the same one a couple of times and it didn't help.) Today I took off the factory foil and magic. The reader catches off the shot every time!

I tried a cheap UV-based tempered glass (10 euros) and on my Note 10 it works flawless every time.
And since the S21 series has a much bigger sensor I expect it to work fine as well, I know Whitestone Dome works fine, AND the AmFilm one too.
I used Note 8 for 3 years without screen protector and had maybe 1 micro scratch that was only visible when screen off. Now still using S21U with pre installed screen protector but the feeling of it is not so good, very rubbery especially if fingers are wet. Debetaing to take it of because I have some problems with fingerprint reader too, it's not bad but sometimes it's not detecting the finger.
Make sure your case has a lip guard. That has always worked for me.
I really liked the factory fitted screen protector.
It is more than adequate to protect the screen from scratches from everyday use. Unfortunately the corner peeled off after getting caught on some fabric on the couch so I had to replace it.
I decided against a tempered glass protector for the following reasons:
1. Regular tempered glass SP interfere with the ultrasonic fingerprint reader. Go to amazon and search for s21U TP screen protectors and you'll see what i mean.
2. There are some TG screen protectors that use UV light hardened resins to stick to screen. These are supposed to be fingerprint reader friendly but the good ones like Whitestone Dome are very expensive (for a disposable item) and you have to get a perfect installation, with the resin being a potential hazard if it seeps into the phone.
The cheap ones on the other hand are usually not very good and have a thinned out layer of glass overlying the fingerprint reader that is really irritating to look at.
3. I'm not sure what that UV hardening adhesive does to the oleophobic coating on the screen over a long time.
4. TG screen protectors do not have an anti-reflective coating like the phone screen. So once you apply it, the surface becomes shiny and reflective like glossy screens. This doesnt happen with the softer TPU protectors. Maybe someone who has recently applied a TG SP can post his experience here?
3. TG also adds thickness to the screen as compared to TPU screen protectors, and this is a pretty chunky phone already.
I moved away from tempered glass protectors about 3 years ago after trying a bunch of them and have been using TPU (liquid skin type) SP since then. They are cheap, easy to install, usually come in multi-packs so you can swap them out when it gets dirty or peels off or scratches etc, without breaking the bank or feeling sorry that you have to throw away a $30 - $50 tempered glass protector that you applied with utmost care. The newer materials are also very nice to touch, virtually indistinguishable from the underlying glass.
Having said all this, I have friends that swear by tempered glass protectors and are willing to pay anything to have the feel of glass under their fingers. There's no right or wrong answer here, just what works for you.

A case with enough lip protection is good enough.
Thank you for sharing you experience. I decided to stay with the factory screen protector. It really love it as it fits the screen so well and is clear as if there was no screen protector.

Yes. For most purposes, I agree with you that it's enough. I used to think so too... Never used a screen protector on any of my phones. Tried the tempered glass one on my last phone but felt it was too thick and reflective, so there is away and went with a naked screen. The experience was amazing, interfacing with the screen without any barriers. At least until I got two mysterious scratches on my OnePlus 6 screen, about 2 months apart, one after the other. Never dropped the phone, didn't put it face down, just used it normally. Must've been a grain of sand in my pocket... I'm still not sure to this day what caused the scratches...
I was using a spigen case without a screen protector then. Had to live with those scratches for 2 years. It was heartbreaking to see them everytime... See attached pics.
Since that experience, I vowed never to go with the screen naked again. Maybe I was just unlucky. But the fact that it happened twice is something I cannot ignore, and cannot risk on this new phone. It's too beautiful and too expensive to gamble with, at least based on my personal experience.
Second day I had my Note 10+ it faceplanted on a rough piece of 1/8" thick aluminum angle from pocket height. The metal hit the curve portion of the screen. Oh Yeah... isn't that special?
The case soaked up some of the impact but the factory screen protect was hit and savaged.
It protected the screen, zero damage. gulp.
Been using wet apply Gorilla IQ Sheild after trying a bunch of products including Whitestone.
After 9 months it's still on and while it's due to be replaced it's held up amazing well for $5 a pop.
Unlike the other junk, it's easy to apply and line up properly
I use the Zizo Bolt case to provide to majority of the protection. Raised screen guards on all sides are needed as I learned earlier
After 1.5 years, zero damage.

Sand will do it every time. I tried the same experiment over 2 years ago with the same results. I always use a good case and screen protector because permanent scratches pi$$ me off.
Clarification: Case with a lip everywhere and a regular TPU screen protector is great for the majority of use-cases out there. And, it is the cheapest option.
