Possibly getting a nexus 4 next week!? - Nexus 4 General

So I'm almost 100% getting a nexus 4 next week what tips and apps are needed to get this puppy running at full speed ?

First, where are you going to get one next week for sure? It is out of stock man.

Don't think you need to do. It's fast out if the box. If you're looking for cool apps you can check the themes and apps section as there's a whole list of apps in there.
I'd you're looking to tinker with your device with custom roms and kernel. I suggest Cm10.1 jellybro and Franco kernel r20.

There's so many threads available with all different types of hints and tips for this phone so please have a read of what's already available otherwise we'd have threads like this filling up the forum.
Thanks

No Nexus, nope.
I'd like the camera on a non-apple phone lol.
Nexus 4
ATT Straight Talk $45/mo
running xylon 2.1 4.2.2 faux kernel
I think there is a dedicated sticky thread for this discussion. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2021559
I did it.
Yes i probably will get ONE.
The only thing it bugs mea lot is that is doesn't have 4.2 :/ I'm used to the lockscreen widgets now, I always end up rooting and putting cm because I like the way stock looks, so I think I'll be sticking with the nexus 4 maybe wait and see for gs IV

Which is the best kernel !!!!!! POLL

I make this thread so that we can find the best kernel for nexus 4 and also the difference between the franco , trinity, and matrix and motley kernel.
So post ur experience and also share screen shot for battery like battery screen ,graph and screen time.
In this way we can also help the developers to build their kernel more good...

Stock.

Lol at stock. It would have to be faux since he's done so many one of a kind enhancements
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
I'm on stock, but where's the actual poll?
I m using franco kernel r85 so its gud....with underclocking and undervolting i got 1:30 and device runing for 5hr 20mins scree time and battery is at 74%....
I will upload the screens ones i reach 5% juice....

These threads are frowned upon here at XDA for numerous reasons: there's no real answer, they turn into pissing matches and trolling, and this is actually the worst way to find the "best" kernel.
The one and only way to find what's "best" is for you personally to read and take the time to flash kernels and use them for several days under various real-world scenarios. Then and only then can you know.

I-957 Development?

Just curious if development for this device has been lost for our lowly 8.9 LTE? I know we never had any serious effort but I would love to have a good rom to run on this device. I ran the Danno Rom for a short while but had to go back to stock due to issues I can't remember now. This really is a perfect form factor device just need some Dev love for it. Come on guys this should be interesting because it is a challenge to find the right stuff to make things work on this device.
Orlando what say you? Have you moved on to a new device? Still using the I-957?

This whole forum is basically dead. But I too world love to see some new development. If only I was smart enough and had the patience and time I might try to learn. But I'm lacking the smarts and patience.

I have to say i am pretty happy with dan-htc's AOKP Jellybean build. Never expected a lot with this tab, considering my Note2 basically doubles processing and RAM. I'm just happy not to be stuck on Stock TW for my Internet browsing and reading lol.

It should be very easy to get the newest aokp build for this tab. It's above me but it's out for the skyrocket which is basically the same thing

We are doomed, I think we are better off selling this tablet and getting the international version that seems to have a lit more of support and many roms updated to choose from...

Thinking of purchasing N7

So working for best buy gets me a decent discount on the nexus 7 16gb wifi. I'm really interested in getting it.
My questions for you guys are.
Are there any issues with rooting or installing roms.
I have the GS4 and there's a build that doesn't allow custom recovery.
Are there builds that don't allow anything to be done?
And is 199 dollars a good price?
Thanks

The N7 is one of the most Dev-friendly devices in existence. Not only theres no problems rooting, flashing custom system/recoveries, and modding it, its also really easy on purpose.
The newest July one.
And that's awesome. How about factory default downloads. Can you access the actual factory default file to restore the device?

yes sir, you can. there are stock rom you can download and flashed. just search around here.
Wrong section if you're talking the Nexus 7 2013 model.

time for round 2

alright hard bricked my old g1 and im getting another tonight and another sometime in the future. not sure quite exactly what i did but it was bad and i was sad in the end, i only want to get a stable CM 6 or 7 on the device nothing fancy. can anyone lead me to a thread please? also i remember i had a problem with the recovery, every time i turned off the device it would get rid of CWM and get back stock recovey.
Just look at the stickies for rooting guides, and for an FYI I'll be selling off all my phones real soon (ol lady forcing me) this includes 20+ g1s all rooted and fully updated - pm me if you want and I'll share eBay links or whatever (not trying to use xda to sell)
And if you have issues or questions when rooting let me know, there are still a few of us who frequent the forums who will help
