I'm having the mentioned problem since yesterday..the phone is plugged in to the stock wall charger and during usage, battery is dropping. I noticed that if I bend the microusb connector up a bit, it stops charging..
Any ideas on what's wrong? I'm using a stock XXLSC deodexed rom which I got from the N7000 General forum, no apps installed except Facebook, Skype and xda app.

Edit edit: actually, it drains both on max and min brightness. Tried different chargers
When it's connected to wall charger, does it say charging or not? Clean the usb port a little bit and try again. If not that, also try an alternative battery

I blowed out any possible dust in it now, it seems to be charging normally now..my main concern is that slight moving of the cable up and down causes it to loose contact, as if the pins on the motherboard are broken insidethe phone, or similar.

Still the same thing..says it's charging, charging animation is there but percentage drops. Also, no way of getting a different battery.

recently updated kernel? Had on some kernels.
Your charging cable is it original? Is it damaged? You can always check if usb port charges it better to eliminate charger itself. Note usb charges slower.

your usb cable is damaged.I had the same problem about a month back. the stock usb charger gets damaged easily
please try a different cable and report back
Tried a completely different Samsung charger, different cable on it, same thing happens.
I did no recent updates or anything.

Check your warrantee, if your running 100% stock. If its your usb charging module you might need it replaced.
I replaced mine with parts from parts4repair.com, cause I messed to much eith phone to claim warrantee. Lots of how tos on youtube. You dont need to remove motherboard for replacing it. If you think its broken, I can give more advice, at own risk ofcourse.

Yeah, by now I'm quite sure that the usb port is broken or damaged, or similar. After playing around with it for a while, I found out it does charge in certain positions, so I guess something broke off or is loosing contact.
It is under warranty, but I bought the phone under contract, and the phone carrier I got it from is notorious for holding onto the phone FOREVER during "repairs". Friend had to wait 45 days to get his back. So I'm just thinking about giving it to the local repair shop, those guys do a good job.
So far I tried different cables, and a different charger, did not try switching batteries since I can't get a hold of one anytime soon.
doing it yourself has a risk, and if those are good, fair in price, and have the right parts, then why not lol.
Be sure to check speaker, reception and wifi after, those are basically things that can go wrong with replacing this unit
btw, to excersize warrantee you can go to a authorized samsung dealer/service centre. Your not obligated to go throught your provider for warrantee. Its Samsung warrantee your calling upon, not your providers in this case I think.
I got my phone to a repair shop and they managed to fix up my phone, it charges normally now and the problem was in the connector, it got broken somehow.
Right now I'm getting extremely annoyed with constant network signal drops which happen on random..no idea why that is happening.

Hmmmm great for getting it fixed. Not sure if there is an antenna connector on the usb module which might not have been fixed properly. If this is happening since the repair, need to check again.

hi im having problem charging my galaxy, it won't charge at all after the battery died out once when i plug it into a power source the loading circle comes out then battery than it repeates everytime. Is this the way a galaxy charges i never had a phone like this before.
I am new to this forum and I am having the same issue, I got my phone yesterday and now I am only getting the gray battery with circle flashing every 10 or 15 seconds, I have tried switching wall sockets and usb ports
Any help will be helpful. Thanks
Mario
What was the problem... mine is doing this out of the blue. Thinking it is the battery but let me know what your problem was ...
The charging / micro USB socket could be broken. Does it work if you wiggle it around a little bit?
Alternatively the actual plug / socket could be broken. Have you tried a different one?
Have exactly the same problem.

I have two battery's for my Galaxy S - the same results on each battery. Bin today to a technical store they have made an examination of the USB. No hardware issues, must be software.
Will flash back to a stock GB.
Results coming up later.
Right now on: MIUI MintBerry Edition 1.12.2-2 (2.3.7)

I tried different batteries, different cables and different chargers, but get no response whatsoever, even when using a USBjig. Can't get into recovery or download mode. ODIN doesn't find it.
I've been having problems with the microUSB port for a while (phantom USB), in which the phone thinks a charger / car dock is connected (whilst this is not the case). Not sure if they are related, though.
I was running RocketRom V1 (which ran great) when my note suddenly turned off and didn't respond to anything.
Two days later, whilst my supposedly dead note was connected to my PC, my note booted when I booted my pc (very, very odd). I immediately updated my rom to RocketRom v2. My note ran fine for a couple of hours. Then, again, it turned off and hasn't responded to anything since.
What options do I have left to fix my Note? Thanks!
Sounds like dodgy usb connector and therefor not charging properly, I'd get it looked at under warranty or there are a couple of threads here on how to replace the usb port yourself.

Thanks for the response, Spydertracks. I've send the phone to samsung for repairs, but my warranty was refused thanks to physical impact damage. I fail to see how this relates to my N7000's issues, especially since I haven't dropped my note and the problems started when it was lying on the table.
They didn't explain which part of the phone was damaged, by they did send me a picture of the insides of my phone. It shows a small square item (a sticker, perhaps), with 16 small x's on it. Is this a warranty sticker or something?
for now you can use an external battery charger and boot up your note,
also if its the USB connector in the phone, loads are available on selling websites that come with tool kit to do it yourself. videos on youtube as well.,

Thanks for the reply. I have ordered a USB module and will try to fix it myself. However, even with a fully charged battery my note won't boot. It does charge (and the battery heats up) in my Note, but it just won't boot or give any life signal (like a "charging" screen, vibration, whatsoever).

I would try cleaning the usb port with pure alcohol and a cotton bud. usually when it states a charging when not and switching between driving mode and not it points to dirty connectors. Battery is obviously not the issue as he's tried different ones. Only other thing would be to charge the battery on an external battery, that would show if the usb port has failed.

Thanks for the advice. Tried cleaning the port with alcohol and a cotton bud, didn't work. However, I did notice a high pitched sound coming from the charger when my N7000 was attached. This sound could not be heard when charging any other device (with that same charger), which might indicate a short-cirquit in the USB connector port in my Note. The phone (and the battery) do heat up slightly when the charger is connected, though.
I have ordered a UBS module, which will arrive in 2 weeks. I'll let you know if it worked.

One day I was away from home and my battery was low. So I had to use a Sony Xperia charger. But now my phone has problems charge.
problems such as:
-it won't charge
-it only charges to 50%
-the charge cuts in and out
-I have to leave it still or it won't charge.
Has anyone had these problems occur. This is really annoying and I would like to find a solution ASAP
*and the only charger that doesn't cause this problem is ny nexus 7 charger. But I don't want to use it. Because when I tried it, it said it's not compatible and will damage my device.

If your phone is charging half way through then It should not be the connector. Try charging through the use if laptop. Try clearing the battery stats if rooted else back up your phone and try restoring it to factory settings.

try any of your friends htc cable and plug and see if the problem exist then its not the cable but the phone ....
best way is to take your phone to htc service centre

My problem with my phone started after I bought a cheap car charger. I must have ruined the mini usb port. Now when I unplug my phone from the charger it keeps showing that it is charging and will not stop till I remove the battery and put it back in. Also if I had just kept it without removing the battery and wanted to recharge it plugging it to the charger will not do anything. Removing the battery and put it back will allow it to charge. I just hope the cover will not disintegrate with all the opening and closing. Before this phone I had the Nokia N97 and in the middle of a long distance call the battery died. I stopped at the first cell shop and bought a car charger that ruined that phone too. I should have learned no to use hardware that is not original even if the guy said it is good.
I know there's many threads on the sleep of death and red led of death etc but just wanted to confirm what has happened to mine. The phone started getting very hot with rapid battery level drops. Also, if I turned it off and back on, the battery level would go from like 80% to 20%. The next day, I tried to turn it on and nothing hapened. I've tried charging it for a good 16 hours, tried volume up, volume down, Sony repair, flash mode with flashtool, nothing. The led lights solid red when plugged in and goes straight out when unplugged. Is there anything else I can try or is it well and truly bricked? The phone is unlocked and was running cyanogen mod 10.2 for a couple of months without any trouble....
Based on the symptoms you have provided, it seems to a hardware issue,
I suspect primary the Battery is draining out the juice and taking hours to charge.
secondly it could be a Motherboard failure.
If you goto sony service center and if they identify the problem with the motherboard then they will charge you 50% of the value of the phone and you will get a replacement handset (same color) .
The problem I have is I've already sent my phone to Sony under warranty for a different fault but had it returned unrepaired due to the fact there was evidence I had rooted the phone, therefore my warranty will now be invalidated. Since then I've also unlocked the bootloader so I don't expect any assistance from Sony.
Is there anything I can do myself - would replacing the battery help? How easy is this? I have no problem removing the back panel (I did it before when Sony refused to repair it).
Thanks.

One solution can be that you clean with something the micro usb slot, but with something dry and the charger and usb cabel too

Reboot your phone.
If it is still not work, replace the battery.
If it is still not work, then it is the motherboard problem. It hard to repair by yourself.
Try a charging dock, the phone boots the kernel to allow the phone to charge via USB if battery is to low this won't happen, with a dock it is direct tappings to the battery to allow it to charge
Sent from my C6603 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Turns out the battery was the problem, I connected a new battery (with the old one still in position) and it fired up first time. However, the old battery was stuck in really well and took some force to remove - when I fitted the new one, the phone turns on but the screen has loads of thin lines in both directions and is totally unreadable. I thought maybe I'd damaged something when removing the old battery, but I can't see any damage the ribbon cables or anything else. Anything I can check or is the screen knackered now? I've pretty much had it with this phone now!
Sent from my KFTT using XDA Free mobile app
I got that wrong, it wasn't the battery, the new one is now doing the same as the old one. I'll buy a new motherboard and hope that sorts both the power fault and screen fault.
