HTC Vivid - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I am looking at rooting my android and putting on Android 4.2 on my HTC Vivid. It currently has Android 2.3. I was wondering when I unlock the bootloader and root the phone if it is possible if I can actually put Jellybean on my phone.

Yes it is just follow the directions of flashing ROMs. You should either take the ota upgrade or RUU to ICS before you flash jellybean tho

[Q] Rogers 7" Tab - Scared to Update - Help

I currently have a 3g Rogers Tab GT-P1000R. Currently running Froyo 2.2. I am wanting to update it to 2.3 Gingerbread Rogers rom but am wondering if there are any negatives. In the future I would like to update to some custom roms.
Does updating it lock the bootloader or is it already locked? Any way to easily check?
Thanks.
Check my honeycomb install thread for a APK for the bootloader check and unlock. The rest, well read read read.

No problem going from gingerbread to CM 7.1 beta from the forums here on my Rogers p1000r. If you search you'll find a thread with rooted 2.2 stock firmware for Rogers too.

I am on Rogers using the Team Overcome 4.0 ROM.
It works AWESOME!!!
Stock Roms are useless to me as they are bloated and slow plus your machine is locked down. I prefer the roms that are built on the stock rom platform as the core of the rom is stable and usually all the devices work just fine.

[Q] How to downgrade from 2.3.6 to 2.1?

Hi everybody,
My old N1 isn't my main phone now so I'm thinking about using it as a testing device. I already have a 2.2 Atrix, a 2.3 Kindle Fire and a 4.0 SII, so I wanted to downgrade my Nexus to 2.1.
Is that possible? I have latest 2.3.6 now (GRK39F). And after the downgrade, is there a way to disable OTA updates and keep 2.1?
(I found some old tutorials here about downgrading 2.2 to 2.1, but not 2.3 to 2.1)
Thanks!
I would recommend a stock rooted version, which you just need to wipe and flash, and if you search for ota kill I think that will lead you to a program to stop ota updates.
If you have an SLCD Nexus One, then there is no way Eclair will work.
Will work if you have an AMOLED, though.

Kudos to you for being interested in rooting :good:
Shiromaru already answered the question here but why would you choose to remain on STOCK??? In the Android Development Thread of the HTC Incredible S, we have a TON of ROMs for use. They can be ICS with Sense 3.6. There can be AOSP or AOKP ICS. Theres Sense 4.X with ICS. Theres AOSP Jellybean 4.1.1 to 4.2.2. Theres really a lot to try. If you want to keep the (****y (excuse my language)) Sense 3.6 then u can try ARHD which is very stable. Theres also Blackout ROM and Incredible Bliss. If you want Sense 4.X you can try Nik_Project_X_Rebirth or Sabsa Prime. All of these ROMs have been modified to improve youre over all experience on the phone. I really would suggest you flash a custom ROM.

I tried ARHD bt after some days of installation of ROM if u restart the phone, many apps start crashing. Also gallery and music show no containts.
I tried reflashing but same happened again.

Try niks Rom v3.0 it works fine for me,good battery life + super fast performance with lil overclock

Rooting via htcdev will not give you s_off. That means every time you install a custom Rom you have manually flash the boot image using a utility called fastboot. And you can't change radios either. However for an initial root experience go right ahead with htcdev method and once you are comfortable you may follow guides in how to downgrade and then get root and soff using the revolutionary method. You may then also want to change your bootloader.
If you are going to root your phone then it makes no sense (pun intended) to remain with stock Rom. And as listed here in earlier post there are a plethora of roms to choose from.
Welcome to the joys of the android world.

T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling

I just recently rooted and started flashing ROMs on my T-Mobile HTC One. Something I only just noticed is that I lost the ability to make calls via wifi. Is there a ROM that will give that back to me? I don't use it often, but it would be nice to have it back.
Thanks.

This is a typical issue for custom roms. When I asked they told me that they were waiting on T-Mobile to release an update.
Only the source for 4.1.2 rom has been released, so order for that to work you will have to use a custom rom that is 4.1.2 and supports T-Mobile. Since most custom roms are now 4.2.2, that means you will have to go back through the roms older versions and run one that is 4.1.2. Basically, unless you need it badly, there is no reason to run an older rom just for that. The 4.2.2 source should be available before long and then that feature will be included in custom roms running 4.2.2 for T-Mobile.
Ah ok, that makes sense. I don't usually need it. I'm going out of country here soon, and was going to use that rather than international rates. No big deal. Thanks all!

[Q] Which ROM Can I Use for Sprint One?

I have a Sprint HTC one with S-OFF (just got that done). I'm having a bit of trouble finding out which ROM I can use. I'm currently using the OMJ's Stock ROM, but I'd like to switch over to a Google Edition type of ROM. Basically, I really just want stock Android KitKat. I love the feel of my Nexus 7 tablet.
If someone could enlighten me on how to discern which ROM I can use, OR suggest one that I can use on my Sprint phone, I'd be very happy!
