[Q] can you flash cyanogenmod's with rom toolbox pro? - Motorola Droid Bionic

Hello everyone, this is my very first post to this amazing forum that I have been following/studying for awhile now. I am considering installing a new custom rom and from what I have read is that CyanogenMod's are the absolute best. Now i have purchased rom toolbox pro from the google play store and what I am wondering is, is it possible to flash cyanogenmod 9 or 10 with the app "rom toolbox pro" ?
Has anyone here installed cyanogenmod 9 or 10 with rom toolbox pro or would you recommend rom manager?
Now when I open the app -> "rom toolbox pro" i see the rom management button and when I select that button I see in the Rom List -> "Google Apps"
Now when I select i will see things like 20120726 JB "recommended for CM 10.0.x for Android 4.1.1" now i can only guess that "CM" stands for cyanogenmod.
Now i know that we are supposed to research which rom is best for our specific phone, can anyone recommend a stable cyanogenmod 9 or 10 for the motorola droid bionic model xt875.
If you have installed a cyanogenmod for the droid bionic how did you do it? Did you download it or did you install with either rom manager or rom toolbox?
Can you install roms with "rom toolbox pro" or can you only customize roms with that app?
Should i be using Rom Manager instead?
Any information you guys and gals can provide on this issue i would really really appreciate it.
I thank you all for your time and your assistance.

I would suggest installing safe strap 3.05. Then using it to flash custom ROMs. Safe strap partitions your internal memory so that you always a safe copy in case something goes wrong. There are several CM 10 ROMs that can be installed.

Okay so from the research that I have done you can use "rom toolbox pro" to flash cyanogenmod or other custom rom's onto your phone. However the problem lies in finding the absolute best custom rom that is going to work (the best) with your specific phone.
Now i am using the Motorola Droid Bionic model XT875
Has anyone here flashed CyanogenMod 9 (i would like to use 9 i heard it is the most stable for the bionic phone) onto their droid bionic phone? The problem is i see so many different versions of the CyanogenMod 9 rom that i am not sure which one I should use?...
If anyone can tell me which one worked best for them, I would really appreciate it, or if you can't if you can point me in the right direction i would be very very grateful.
I thank you all for your time and your assistance,

There are Cyanogenmod builds available for the Bionic but they aren't official and can't be found on CM's download servers. They must be flashed after installing Safestrap, which can be obtained here: http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/downloads/safestrap/
In that same blog, Hashcode also has links to his repository of Cyanogenmod, AOKP, and AOSP builds of Android for the Bionic. Each works to varying degrees of success.
IMO, when it comes to the best balance of features, speed, and stability the best ROM for the Bionic is Eclipse, which can be had from eclipserom.com

[Q] How to back up the ROM

Hi I'm a new Android phone user.
I have used SuperOneClick to root my 2X, so that I can use Droidwall. Everything looks fine.
But I see people suggesting it's better to always backup the original ROM, but I don't know how to do it. I have downloaded ROM Manager from the market, but it seems not supporting 2X yet, is it? Any alternatives?
Get custom recovery ClockWork Mod, which there are links to under 2x Development. With that you can take a full NANDroid backup which basically backs up everything.
Thank you!
But I am still not clear. Do you mean using ROM Manager? I tried "All ClockworkMod Recoveries" and it shows only "Advent Vega" and "Elocity A7" to choose.
If you don't mind, please tell me step by step..

Hello, I've followed that thread and installed CWM Recovery, that's great!
But I want to ask some more questions. I chose the EXT3 batch file. Could I actually choose EXT4? Will my filesystem be automatically converted to EXT4?
And, is there a newer version than the 3.0.1.4-beta3? I see another thread about the battery status bar mod which mentioned about R3 and R4 versions..
Thanks
The R3/R4 for the battery mod IS NOT related to CWM. Its related to the Rom developed by Paul for the LG 2x which is presently on R4.

Rom Manager is not displaying any custom roms

Hi,
I recently bought Rom manager. I am Very much new to this root and Rom manager thing. I have installed Marvel v7 rom.
However I am not seeing any CynogenMod or MIUI Roms in the RomManager to download.
Is there anything i am missing? I have looked over few videos on youtube but could not found anything.
Thank you.
You don't get them by rom manager, well only cm if you have premium version and cm installed, you must download from the web and copy the zip to your SD reboot to recovery and flash them in there(remember to always backup).

Rom manager not showing custom roms
I have the premium version installed. I have bought it for $6. So that I dont have to browse the web for Custom Roms.
Its for support for the dev, and it will not show you custom roms just cm, and that are in hang by cm team.

[Q] Rooting this phone and installing latest CM7

Hi,
my friend bought this phone and wants me to "fix it up" for him. I am completelly unfamiliar with this phone and Samsung in general, so I need a little help.
I have scoured these forums for the last hour and there is TONS of information available. It's really difficult to judge which posts are outdated and which are still working.
Basically what I want is this:
1. Root the phone
2. Install CWM
2. Install latest CM7 for this phone.
I reckon the root works with using SuperOneClick, correct? And for CWM I thought I'm gonna use this?
But I am at a complete loss when it comes to which CM7 to choose, there are tons of them? Can someone recommend me a fresh, stable, debloated and fast CM7 ROM with everything working?
Thanks.
I managed to get root and clockwork mod up and running.
Any ideas for which Rom?

1) For rooting, refer to this thread - http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2011/08/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-popmini.html
It does not matter if it outdated - all you have to do is go to superuser app, and choose update binaries. You will get latest version.
2) For now, i personally don't feel you should use CWM 6. the version i am using (CWM 5) has no bugs and works perfectly. here is the link -
http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2012/02/clockwork-mod-touch-for-galaxy-mini-gt.html
3) As for ROMs, there is a large collection out there. It all depends on your choice. For example, if you want:
A stock based ROM choose something like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861240
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576996
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074556 (which is CM10.1 - Jellybean)
Or another CM10.1 ROM which works very well - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227481
Or maybe another interesting ROM which im sure you will like, which has interesting tweaks like android version - 5.0.0.5 (lol)
Cyanogen mod 7 music edition - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329551&highlight=emanon
Or the experience ROM by autoradio, which allow a lot of customization - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2193327
This is another really good ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754694
PS the question "best ROM" is always being asked and is then subsequently closed by a mod, so read the rules next time
Another thing you should know is NEVER use an app called ROM manger. it will brick your phone.
I supposs this cover everything
Press thanks if i helped

[Q] STOCK VS custom ROM for D3 XT862

HELLO ...i am new to the Android world but an expert in the windows world...... i do also love linux
i have a Droid 3 XT862 running Android 2.3 and i want to experience the freedom of rooting my D3
i had hoped my first Android phone would be high spec running the latest OS (or almost) but i am not ready to risk using a touch-screen only phone because i hav had some bad experiences with touchscreen keyboards....thats pretty much why i got the D3 instead of the RAZR or the DROID BIONIC
QUES #1:
how difficult is it to revert back to my original Android 2.3 OS if i find it difficult to use a custom ROMS?? i really want to use my camera so a chance to revert bak to my original V2.3 wud be nice
QUES #2:
is the phones ability to install apps affected in any way by upgrading the Android version ( FOTA) or rooting?? for example..... i am going to test run my V2.3 os for a while and install many apps, will these same apps be able to install on the custom ROMS?? ...... wat are some of the advantages or disadvantages for installing apps on stock V2.3 and then try to install the same apps on any of the below custom roms:
OFFICIAL CyanogenMod 10.1 (Android 4.2.2): [NIGHTLIES]
[ROM][JB] [4.2.2] Avatar ROM for Motorola Droid 3 (solana)
[ROM][4.2.2][OFFICIAL] LiquidSmooth v2.1 - solana -
[ROM] Official PACman Droid 3
[ICS AOSP ROM] "AOKP" (Android Open KANG Project)
[ROM STEEL DROID]
[Closed]RemICS-UX v1.3.1 - Galaxy S3 on Your Droid 3
.....ETC
QUES#3 :
BBM Messenger will be available for phones running Android 4.0 or higher this summer, I am interested in trying it out and i want to know if these custom ROMS will allow me to install it without much difficulty......
QUES#4:
I am assuming that once i root my phone and install a custom ROM using safe strap or a similar tool, this is the same as dual booting, in which i can switch between stock os and custom ROMS at will.......am i right ??
QUES #5:
How may Custom ROMS am i able to install while making sure my phone is stable ??
THANKS MUCH !!!!!.....

Reverting to stock is as simple as plugging the phone into your computer and flashing stock firmware with a utility. Custom roms and rooting shouldn't affect app installation, with the caveat of some video rental apps won't work on rooted devices(piracy prevention). BBM should install on any custom rom ics and up, but until it's released we won't know for sure. All that being said, sometimes a particular app may have issues with custom roms but it's the exception, not the rule. Yes you can switch roms similar to a dual boot, although data from one rom isn't visible to another, like app data, text messages, call log. Sdcard contents are though. Safestrap creates img files for custom rom slots, you can have up to 4(in addition to stock) I believe, although I no longer use safestrap so I'm not totally sure. The more you have the less Sdcard space available and the custom roms can be pretty buggy sometimes. Personally I just flash over the stock rom since its so easy to return to stock if needed. I also only run gb roms since I need the camera

Cant thank you enough bro.... just glad that i can run ICS apps on the custom roms and revert back to Stock when i need it ..... and i think it will be a good idea for me to install a GB ROM as well .......
you said "The more you have the less Sdcard space available"......... does that mean these custom roms are supposed to STAY on the SD-card ??
i thought after u installed the custom roms, you could do watever you want to the SD card

Almost giving up now...

Ok I have a GT P1000 (belongs to a friend)...
AND ALL I WANT IS A DAMN CM10.1!!
No clear instructions how to go to CM10.1 from CM9
No clear instructions where to change from CWM to TWRP
No clear instructions on how to fix errors
No clear instructions on how to 'restock' either (There are like a plethora of "restock" ROMs and have no clue which one to flash when).
PLz people..I am not angry..just upset..can any1 help.. plz?
PS: I have tried flashing CM10.1 by Alroger/Cdesai and the Touchwiz 4.2.2 and all three give me Status 7. There is absolutely no way I can change the recovery or fix this error. Is this some MD5 checksums issue?
Don't multi post your problem.
It is so simple. Most instruction for CM10.1 ask you to restock, so just do it.
You were in sos_sifou's overcome thread. Use that. If you forgot where, see my signature.
1) You better don't go from cm9 to cm10 directly, for reasons I mentioned there in reply to you.
2) You don't need to change from CWM to TWRP, when you flash the new ROM, it comes with TWRP in it's kernel. P1000 does not have separate partition for recovery. It has to be included in the kernel.
3) not everyone encounters your error
4) any of the restock instruction will likely work. If you haven't even tried, why didn't you? Safest is to use overcome method.
your status 7 will go away with overcome method.
Hi guy
The dude speaks true but you might want a bit of hand holding.
Alterbridge, a genius contributor, wrote a ROM in gingerbread called the overcome ROM for the p1 version of the tab based on leaked Samsung code. His latest version was called kratos and was really quite amazing. The overcome ROM can be downloaded from mirrors that are provided regularly on the xda SG tab site. Find using search p1 overcome from xda.
Loading this leaked GB ROM is called restocking and brings you to a vanilla system with few problems. Most people use Odin to load it under windows or heimdall under Linux. Both are pretty easy. They do erase anything on the sdcard though, so be careful.
This provides a stable base from which to install ICS and jb versions mostly championed by humberos, sbradymobile and cdsai. The 10.0 version mostly works. 10.1 has a broken front camera for selfie fans to lament but recent improvements to the battery life provides redemption. I like 10.1.
10.2 is still a bit wobbly but works well enough and gives the cutting edge if you can handle it.
To progress you have to find overcome and Odin / heimdall. Flash of and follow the prompts. This will give you a rooted tab under gingerbread and cw recovery.
Entering recovery you can flash any of the 10.x ROMs and the gapps zip and experience the latest android versions. Really quite amazing. Use too manager to find the latest gapps zip and the 10.1 daily uploads.
Hope this helps, read lots of xda and Google cm 10.1 BBQ to find the latest stable stuff.
Happy exploring, follow the guides precisely on the first posts of a thread to get updates and current info and to avoid bricks. Good luck, it's really rewarding to follow these amazing folks and their work.

Actually, Kratos was before overcome 4.1
If not mistaken, the alphabetical released ends with K (kratos) was for 3.x series.
