Push2TV 3000 w/ .223 firmware on TL = no go - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I went to local store this evening pickup a Netgear miracast adapter hoping it would work out of box. Unfortunately, Christmas miracle seems to be over...
I was able to search for the adapter in Wi-Fi Direct mode, but it timeout while connecting to the device. There were some error message in logcat complaining cannot bring down wlan0, so I think there was something wrong either with the driver or TL simply does not support miracast (I hope it's the former case).
Anyway, just wants to give you guys a heads up before you rush to the store like me
Happy holidays.

I stumble upon this firmware update (which is not in the netgear website...), but after flashing it to my adapter, the miracast began to work!
Cheers~

You can't, WiFi Direct (which is used for Miracast) can't be used at the same time with regular WiFi. Just like you can't connect to two different WiFi networks at the same time.
Some Sony people did say they were trying out stuff to maybe make it possible in the future, but we'll have to wait and see for that.

I don't like this. I will wait for this feature to work it. I think that it's possible.

Current wi-fi cards don't allow several connections, it's a hardware restriction. We'll have to wait until next generation cards is released.

[Q] WiFi direct

How do you transfer files using WiFi direct? It's failing when I'm sending files from s3 to TX
Sent from my LT29i using Tapatalk 2
have you tried NFC and turning on android beam?????? this should fix your issue
Android beam is sending thru bluetooth, not WiFi Direct
Not working
I have tried almost every possible way to use Wi-Fi direct on my Xperia TX but in vain.
The hardware is indeed included in the phone but I wonder if there is software back up for the same.
Generally whenever you click on wifi Direct option, there are functions to rename your wi-fi direct device name and few others. All of them are missing with Xperia.
I have tried using the feature in sync with Samsung Galaxy S II, LG L9 and Bravia Tablet. All I can see is that connection is established between the two units but send / receive doesn't work.
It feels irritating to see that a flagship product of a company like Sony has these glitches. In addition, there is no available support on this issue on Sony website neither anywhere on web.
I wish that some senior here helps us resolve this topic.
Thanks & regards,

In my ICS version, i can't see any options when I check 'Wifi direct'.
I read sony forum, sony's system UI doesnt provide sending/receiving file via wifi-direct.
U have to use apps which can send via wifi direct.

You can do it with OfficeSuite WiFi Direct. Install OfficeSuite on both phones, then use the Share menu to send files over WiFi Direct with OfficeSuite.

I've officesuite that came with the phone pre-installed. But when I try to share via Wi-Fi Direct, I don't see any share option to do so. But the connection between the device is successful.
I don't quite understand, why does this require an app? Isn't this a native Android feature?

Yes. It works (shows in the share) after I opened the OfficeSuite once.
But why is this feature requires an app? Isn't this an standard Android feature? No common built-in share application?

Bro, I know we can transfer via few other ways. Wi-Fi direct has one of the fastest transfer rates and more over trouble-free if it can work.
I'm talking about couple of gigs video files to transfer from one device to another on the go! Any suggestions without third-party software?

[Q] HTC TV app Dish Network compatible?

Ok so I got the app working properly with my TV but when trying to setup Dish Network I'm having issues. I find a provider called "Dish" and "DishTV" but nothing named "Dish Network"...does this app support Dish Network? Has anybody tried this? I even tried the manual setup of the remote and nothing happens even when the remote is directly pointed to the power button. Any suggestions or help is much appreciated.
Thanks,

Do you have an RF remote or IR? If it's RF only it won't work, you will probably need their app to control over Wifi.

On the back of the remote it says "21.0 IR/UHF Pro" But that being said...this is the 2nd remote which doesn't have to be in the same room as the receiver. Don't know exactly how it works but that could explain it
If it works in a different room definitely not IR. Maybe you can enable in the dish receiver settings?

I saw both, pick dish, go slow when doing the testing....I initally had a problem where for some reason the app would not send a "3" correctly to the dvr..so tuning was very problematic...just deleted that setup and started again, did everthing the same just slower..and works great now.
Yes must be in the same room as the DVR, ie Line Of Sight, our phones are IR blasters not RF blasters. so I can only tune my 1st tv, but not the 2nd one as I have a VIP922.
Thanks RevAtB, FYI: It works on Dish VIP 722, not on 722K.

WiFi direct isn't working on any of our custom Roms, as far as I know. However, a good substitute is Software Data Cable https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.damiapp.softdatacable, it works like WiFi direct. You'll need to install this on both devices, this app can also transfer files between your Android and PC.

i meant, how do you use it, is it by qr code or ip address?
FTP. It works similar to WiFi direct and Bluetooth. 1 device starts a share network using its own WiFi hotspot, the other picks up the hotspot and joins the network. Then you get a browser to share files at good speed.
This does not use your data. If you're worried about it, you can turn off your mobile network and try it.
