I have the Galaxy Exhibit ii 4G. Prior to the most recent OTA update it was able to charge both third party as well as Samsung OEM batteries. After the update it no longer charges the 2 third party batteries I own but still is OK with the original Samsung battery. With the 3rd party batteries it gets a disconnect message regardless of whether the phone is turned on or off and regardless of what charger I use. When this happens it will no longer charge these batteries in the phone. These 3rd party batteries charge just fine outside the phone.
From all my tests is seems the charger is fine and the batteries are fine. So I believe there is an incompatibility issue between this latest update and certain 3rd party batteries. There is likely something in the updated battery charger program that is very, very finicky.
The kernel version I now have installed is: 2.6.35.7-perf-T679UVLG3-CL1165714
Samsung's response is simply that they don't support nonSamsung products; i.e. third party batteries. So far no one has given me a reply in the Tmobile forums. So I am still looking for a solution.
Has anyone else found this same problem? Is there a fix for this available? If not, what is the easiest way I can get back to my original build preferably without having to reinstall everything again? Is there a way to just simply uninstall that last update? Also, does resetting a phone back to Factory state relock the phone?
Thanks

All right!!!! With help from "OP" I got the problem fixed. Turns out there is a problem with the stock kernel not liking 3rd party batteries. So to fix the charging issue you must install a custom kernel.
I'm working on a set of instructions for this that list each and every step in detail, for us noobs, plus links to the relevant sites where I got the information. When it's together I'll post.

Ive just bought a new battery for my Htc Diamond but the phone wont recognise it or charge it. Has anyone any tweaks or ideas on how to get the phone to recognise the new battery..
It will work on a old 1.37 rom but not on any new rom that Ive flashed the phone with. Its driving me crazy
any help would be brilliant
Thanks

This might not be the same thing, but I have similar problem on my Diamond. After purchasing the machine, I quickly learned of the poor battery life that is inherent with it and proceeded to purchase some cheapo third party batteries on eBay. These worked for about a month, and now they refuse to charge many times. They'll discharge just fine, but it refuses to respond to the USB cable. It never does this on the stock battery, and I have all but given up on the third party ones.
Hopefully you have better luck than I did.

None of that stuff you're doing is needed, there's either a hardware defect, or simply the battery is dead and has high wear, which can't be avoided. The wear level rises as you use it and it gets very old...Buy a new bettery that's extended, or get another phone, that's recent to avoid high battery wear.
If I read all this properly, is sounds like you already purchased a new battery and charger, but didn't fix the problem, so like Ace42 mentions, it is probably a hardware problem in your phone preventing the charge.
Check the pins that connect to the battery, and make sure they aren't bent or broken, or maybe some dirt inside the usb connector, otherwise you can pickup a good used Dream/G1 from ebay for US $50 if you watch carefully.
Much less, if you are inclined to taking apart one with a cracked screen and swap parts into yours. (This isn't as easy as it looks from reading the HTC service manual, the parts are much smaller than the pictures, and you need good eyes and careful fingers)
If neither of those is possible, you could always get a "htc g1 desktop charger" from ebay, I have one to keep a spare battery charged for emergencies while i'm away from a power source.

I already buy a battery, but still have the same problem, but for me the problem is software and to start doing so since I did a wipe with froyo 2.2 installed and since then stopped working froyo.
Android 2.1 and 1.6 will work great
but when it begins android 2.2 whatever the rom is not working! 30 seconds goes normally and restarts!
i wipe a way to delete everything but everything? and try osakasuperwipe v2

I had the exact same problem and flashed the radio/spl/roms so many times hoping that the problem would be fixed. The last thing I did was to leave the phone charging while it is powered off. 2 hours later, it booted up and the battery level was at 99% percent. I hope that helps you out too.
Hi, ever since upgrading my unlocked HTC M7 phone to 5.02 Lollipop, I have been having major issues with charging my phone (among many other issues). My battery will sporadically allow me to charge to 100% using the charger on some days and not at all on other days. I'll have the phone turned off and charging over night for 7+ hours and I will only get 5% total charge. If I reboot multiple times then sometimes my battery charge will jump around. My battery life will drain extremely fast while in standby and I will watch the battery level drop while it is plugged in, as I'm doing right now. I'm not running any intensive apps and in fact have minimal apps installed on my phone. When I get 100% charge I can go an entire day on that charge.
I've tried disabling suspect apps, I've tried wiping the cache and I've tried the so-called battery calibration (vol up + vol up + power button, hold 2+ minutes which restarts phone multiple times). None of this has worked. Is there anything else I can do?
Is it possible to download the old kit Kat Rom from somewhere or is there a fix for this lollipop build? Is there another stable Rom that is very close to lollipop but with all the bugs fixed? I have a tonne of other bugs associated with updating to 5.02. My build number is: 7.17.1540.21
Thanks.
First of all this is the wrong thread. You should have posted in the "One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting" thread. If you already tried the calibration, you might want to give Gsam Battery a go to see what is draining your battery. You can also try to do a factory reset. You mentioned you have problems with charging the phone. If none of the above mentioned work you might have a faulty battery that needs to be changed. Do you still have any warranty on the device? And if you want to revert back to KitKat you need to S-OFF the phone by using the Sunshine tool.
I have similar issues with my verizon one m7 but in my case calibration battery solve problems with charging but only for couple weeks. You try another charger and cable?

Dl a 5.1.1 rom , preferably a gpe based rom, use gsam like he said, and what I Also did, which I think helped with the sporadic charging behavior, I brought and Aukey 3 port quick charge 2.0 capable brick, along with a 5 pack of the USB cables, got both on sale on amazon for 5.99 each While I wasn't having your exact issues, I was having some of the same regarding charging. The phone would be plugged in sometimes, and decreasing In %, I almost couldn't use the dam phone while it was plugged in, when I first bought the phone a year and a half ago, it never did that. Also when I did get it to charge normally, it would take so long to get to 100%.... Was so frustrating. But the one thing that CLEARLY has helped is get an Aukey charging brick and the cables, but more so the charging brick.. Let me know I can link you, although I would think similar to.the Aukey would work.
Good Luck

I tried the factory reset a couple months ago and it didn't work. Unfortunately my phone is past the warranty - I've had it for 2years now. I used the stock battery monitor and it said the primary culprits were standby and WiFi. Does using the battery monitor for charging the phone while it is off make sense?I always turn the phone off at night while charging.
Any suggestions on a good 5.1.1 gpe Rom? Where is the best place to DL it? Or what is s-off and sunshine tool?
I popped in a different stock charger and cable and it seems to be working...for now. Thanks for that suggestion. Hopefully it is just the charger, though I'm a bit skeptical that is the issue.
Update: As of today, the 2nd charger has been working well. I'm a bit surprised this was/is the cause. I assumed a charger does or doesn't work.
As I thought, the new stock charger is no longer working properly. I am finding that my phone will not charge properly every now and then. No way to predict when or how to prevent it. I have bounced back to the old charger and that has actually worked a few times. In the 3 minutes it took me to post this, the battery has dropped 5% with it plugged into the wall. Just yesterday I had a full 100% charge and lasted the entire day.
Any other suggestions? I'm not the best at rooting so don't think I'll have time to do that. Been looking at new phones, but like this one vs what's currently out
So my note 9 (snapdragon) is never using fast charging and even if i manage to get it to give me fast charging it gives 1 hour 39 minutes to charge and takes 3 hours, when i charge by cable charging with disabling the fast charging setting it charges in 2 hours 10 minutes while it is cable charging not giving me fast, with the setting enabled it charges in 1 hour 59 minutes.
One side of the type-c never gives fast charging and the other side writes fast charging for 4-5 seconds then switch to cable charging and rarely doesn't switch but the charging time is 3 hours as i mentioned.
I tried everything possible other than trying to flash another software it is with the stock but unlocked.
I cleaned the socket, used 10 different chargers with different cables, wiped cache and tried safe mode and more.
Sorry for making it a long post but this problem is driving me crazy and i want to know can it be software issue not hardware because the phone is used for 2 months and the socket can't be cleaner, and if i flash the stock rom again will it be locked by T-mobile and i would need to unlock it again?
Thanks alot.
First of all, try to change the cable that 98% of the time is the problem when having these types of issues . Then consider the fact that the battery's temp influences the time needed for charging so if it's hot, software will decrease power in charging so that will give a longer time to charge. Even using the phone while charging or leaving apps in background will extend time for charging.
I have posted this so many times.
Samsung uses cheap USBc connectors that short out. Once you lose FC the only way to get it back is so get a new USBc installed by Samsung or a third party. This happened to me about 4 months after I got phone. I never fixed but I will never buy Sammy again. Its not your cables, its not the power cube, its the connector on the actual phone.

In every case, better Sammy's phone USB c connector then iPhones phone lightning connector because after a year you can't even charge the phone at all for having intermittent false contacts when you plug in the cable for the phones connector going bad....

It's possible the the USB C connection is faulty, it's also possible it's a faulty charger cable or even a faulty charger .
Eliminate one by one, buy a good USB C cable to check if that cures the problem, it often does.
Whilst as Tokedup says it may be the usb socket in the phone as according to his post he didn't fix the problem it's not possible to conclusively determine the cause.
It's unlikely to be caused by software, but high ambient or high battery temperature will lead to charge rate reduction
Maybe try an app like accubattery, this will show the charge rate in mA.
With a genuine charger and cable fast charge will reach a maximum of 2800mA

Well i tried everything you said with no success.
The problem is the phone isn't fast charging at all.
I believe it's the phone socket actually.
Thanks anyways

I already tried alot of cables and chargers so i am sure it's not one of them and now i am nearly certain it's the socket since you said it's unlikely to be a software issue, but i really wanted to know what could've caused it because i am sure i didn't do anything wrong.
I have been monitoring accubattery for a month now everytime i charge the phone. The mA is always between 800-1200mA and the phone takes nearly 2 hours to charge.
Thanks alot mate
just to be sure that it is not software related, remove all the battery optimization related 3rd party apps. clear cache and test the phone with stock usb cable and charger that came with the phone. what i had experience is that my note 9 SM-960F is sencitive to charger. if i use a third party fast charger or cable, it give me some sort of trouble like overheating or slow charging. so make sure you are using stock charger and cable that came with phone.

the last try will be flashing the stock rom again but i am hesitant because i am afraid the phone will be locked again by T-mobile and i won't be able to unlock it

Why not get a Samsung wireless quick-charger and try it?
A wireless charger will not be faster than cable charge but I would get one so you don't wear out that port to where it doesn't interface with a computer if needed in the future. Btw all my new phones thats the first thing I turn off is fast charging it degrades battery more over time.

When I purchased my note 9 I did a post somewhere where I said the weakest link in this phone is the Charging port. And so right from the first week I got a wireless charging pad.
Also during the rainy season I keeps saying there is moisture in the port. Basiclly god help you if you live in a place with high humidity.
Like you this is the last Samsung Note I will buy in this life. My Audio packed up after the update. I suspect the over heating caused this. And their support is outsourced in India so they don't give a hoot about your issues.
To the OP.
Try a wireless charger if that fast charges Then you know its a port issue. If that also does not fast charge then its a chip / board issue.
I predict all note 9 users are going to see more and more problems as the over heating causes components to start to fail.
You can get a new USB port with flex cable for like 4$ on ali express go for it.
Hello everybody.
I've bought a genuine battery HB486486ECW but after replacing it the phone gets stuck in a bootloop on the "HUAWEI Powered by Android" startup screen.
But I can enter recovery & fastboot while on the new battery tough (and perform whipe and factory reset but still bootloops when reboot)
Different stories are dwarving the web ranging from:
1) The battery has a serial number written inside that's bound to the motherbord and you need a paid app called ChimeraTool to change it (costs 120 dollar/year so no go for a single repair)
2) Similar as 1) but with a paid tool called sigmaKey
3) You should replace the battery with one from idoc.eu (but they don't sell it anymore on their website)
But I would be very surprised that its not possible to change the battery as they are for sale all over the internet also on thrustworthy sites (goole for HB486486ECW )
Also the internet is also full of video guides how to replace the battery so i don't think they would film this when it didn't work for themselves?
I replaced the new battery with the old one and now its working fine again. But still .... did anyone manage to replace it with a new one?
Hi, have you figured it out?
If not, try to place in the new battery but dont close the phone yet and instead connect the old battery and start the phone. When it starts, plug in the charging cable, unplug the old battery and plug in the new one. Let me know if it fixed the issue.
That is a good idea but meanwhile the phone got stolen.
But I'm thinking about buying the same phone again it still rocks after 2 years
OK I bought the same phone 2nd hand because it's the best one I ever had. Did anyone figure out how to swap the battery yet?
The solution is in this thread...the battery swap is what many people said works.
hey, i'm repairing this kind of phone since long time. The problem is that the serial number of the battery is bound to the display, thats why some 3rd party screen manufactures sell screen together with battery. There are two solutions for this:
1st you can replace the battery with a 3rd party battery. You need to be alittle lucky with this, some of them work, some of them dont.
2nd Option is to reprogramm the batteries serial number to the original serial number, this can be done with a tool like Sigmakey (Probably a little expensive for using it only ones)
Anyway, the phone will start just normal if you put back the original battery.
I hope this helps.
Huawei p30 pro, I tested 7 pieces of original battery, none works. So I can't replace a battery without Chimera or Sigma?
Greetings
No, original battery will only work with reprogrammed serial number, alternative is 3rd party battery.
