Will I notice much of a difference
I don't use led notifications, hardly play large 3d games, and turn off air view
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I have the original Note and one of my colleagues uses the Note 2, to be honest apart from NFC there's not a whole lot of difference when your not playing 3D games and such that you mentioned, and if you flash the latest leaked 4.1.2 firmware, you get all the features like the Nature UX, Paper Artist, Muliscreen etc.. that the Note 2 uses, so i personally don't think you will notice much of a difference if any at all
Better screen real estate, youll notice that as a benefit of note 1. May be a little more sluggish also, but probably only nano seconds. As above poster sais, the jb leaks offer all the software benefits.

I think note2 doesnt have many differences with note1.the differences is just a quadcore procie, but that useless if you not playing intensiveb3d games right?and now almost all the software based feature of note2 can we see in leaked jb

That's it's O N E thing. It's it worth it for that?
Soon as we have the right kernel we can use swap 2 again to bump up ram. Plus o/c as well.I'm keeping mine and think updating every other model is plenty. It's just blogs paid to make you feel you are missing out which cause the doubts in what you have

I absolutely love mine!!! I won't be upgrading to the Note 2, I just don't see any valid reasons to. Everything I've ever wanted on a phone...the Note has got it. Besides... I love the capacitive buttons are awesome when lit up in a dark room. I'm not a fan of the physical button. The only thing from keeping this phone has being labeled "perfect" is the lack of a notification light. :/

I completely agree. I love my note and everything runs perfect. I even have the galaxy note 2 gallery and pop up video player on mine with a sick theme. I will post the gallery and video with instructions in the apps and theme section. Also I wide love to see more activity in the forums as far as posting home screens for ideas and general info

Im happy with the note and when the note 2 comes out alot of mods will be ported over.I also hate the physical home button which was one of the reasons i took the s3 back to get the note. I do too wish the tmobile forum had more action but since tmobile came out with the note so long after at&t and then took it off the shelves im not shocked. But i love this phone

So far, I am pleased with the original Note..... But a few quibbles I've noticed: It's a little jerky at times (not nearly as smooth as wife's GS3 running same OS)..... I figure it must be because only 1GB of RAM... Also on wifi calling it doesn't always hang up the phone and on occasion, hasn't let me answer an incoming call either.... Maybe jellybean will fix some of these issues? (assuming we get jellybean). Overall I'm pleased and am glad I did not wait for the Note 2 (screen will be too narrow IMO) I like surfing the web in portrait mode

I might upgrade to the Note 2 because of this;
Wacom-designed stylus with 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity, which is four times more than the original version.

No way man. 1GB of ram is plenty. Gotta be something else. I have multiple devices, phones/tables, with 1gig of ram. The only reason there would be a lot of lag is because the stock rom sucks.

I agree I have a TMobile note running Blackstar 6 no lag what so ever. I replaced touchwiz with Nova launcher and it runs like a dream. On a personal note I have not had any lag or had to force close other ram hungry apps in order to "speed things up"

Down load NoLED from the Play store. No root needed. Works great and I say even better than the LED that comes with the S3. With NoLED you know exactly what you missed.
When I first went to capacitive buttons from the HD2, I had thought that I missed them. Then I got the S3 and I knew instantly I missed the capacitive buttons.
Give NoLED a try and I think you'll be happy.
---
I do wish the Note did some of the things the S3 does: Like video previews and HDR photos in the camera options. I know there are other apps that can do that but I like the stock of it.
The one thing I was extremely glad that Note doesn't do vs the S3 is the gallery previews. The S3 gallery shows every picture in a tile mode like preview, the Note shows them in a group mode preventing embarrasing moments if some one looks at your gallery.
LOL..... I hear you rosedog.... Hey not to change the subject (of videos/photos)..... But I downloaded "Dice Player"..... enables a smaller/floating video player window over top of what app you're running (just like the stock capability of the GS3).... It works pretty well, too

You're not too picky. I traded my S3 for a Note a week ago. I def feel my S3 was much more snappy. Everything was just a bit smoother, quicker. Love the capacitive buttons and bigger screen, but miss my 2GB Ram and LED notification.

Happy with mine, not going to buy the Note 2, not enough upgrades to justify. I don't like that it is longer & thinner either. Love my note however wish it had a notification light and a stronger vibrate when on silent. Also am having a problem opening some facebook video (from app) My note downloads videos rather than open them!. Other than that--am extremely happy with my TMobile Note.
I've noticed that too on some videos. My phone starts automatically downloading the video that I'm trying to stream.

I'm getting a really good deal on a note. I wanted to know wether the features from note2 have been ported to the orignal note, specially multiscreen. Does the note have enough processing power to run it smoothly?
My friend is on stock ICS and his phone is quite laggy even without too many apps. I did hear the ICS upgrade sucked but I didn't expect this. I wanted to know wether the installing custom ROMs would make the s pen useless?
M considering either note or galaxy nexus... plz help me make this choice!

1) Multiscreen is not yet ported from Note 2 to the original Note..
2) I have 100+ apps installed on my Note & I wouldn't say its laggy..
3) ICS upgrade wasn't a flop..it came with lot of features, improved performance, battery life etc etc etc..anyways, within a month or 2, our Notes wl taste official JB..there are already couple of ROMs which were cooked from leaked samsung official kernel & seems to work as expected..
4) Installing custom roms need not to make the S-pen useless..but there r very few custom roms which does not support s pen..
Check out this thread it got some promising stuff about new note 1 JB rom 98% of things work properly
Cheers

If you are thinking on buying the note , go for the second one .
We had no option back when we bought note , but now you can just go for note 2
248 Google play installed apps and a few more from XDA.
Still smooth on stock ICS ROM with hydracore kernel.
But like the other posters, better to just get the new note since you have yet to invest.

Galaxy note prooved to be a success. Initially it was expected to fail hut if u see it as a device released in 2011. It was designed futuristic. It got 3 updates on gingerbread , 2 updates for ics and now will get jelly beans soon and some are saying it will receive key lime pie. Even if the key lime pie update is not official the note gave a good outcome to those of us who owned it from the initial days. I am still ao much in love with my device and i love the s pen. It took out the artist from within me.

Galaxy note is more like a mini tab, note 2 more like a maxi phone as they have different aspect ratio. 16/10 vs 16/9. For multiscreen ot will be ported on Note1 also, I guess, by xda developers. Don't know if it will arrive officially by Sammy

Note 2 has more features such as more storage space, an SD slot, LTE, Wolfson DAC.
Nexus 4 is open source, gets faster OTA updates and is also much cheaper.
Personally, I'd get neither because the Note 2 is too large for me (many people prefer its size) and the Nexus 4 only has 8 and 16GB storage which is a joke.
Better to take Note 2..

Depends on how much you value software updates. Personally I would rather get the Nexus 4 just for the updates. I am sure that Galaxy Note II will receive CM10 judging how popular this device is, but at the moment I am a little tired of flashing updates manually.
My personal opinion take both of them ... ..=) naa man joking
If you want speed and updates from google buy nexus 4! If you want media and fun and you're a big fan of large screens buy note 2! As i say both of them are really really really gooood so you decide or your pocket

I always love my note but here the prob is not the phone specs. But the apps thats are getting bigger and bigger day by day. Just like PC times. Just because of that now some basic apps that are with me since the start if this phone are slowing down my phone.
I think there should be a basic version of all apps and then the fancy version.
Facebook, viber and other apps are now taking like 80 mb each. Where as they were just about 8 to 10 mbs in ginger bread. I guess its time for me to put this note in my drawer and get a nee device.

You're still around here? *butt-clench*
What you are stating is a lack of RAM not processing power... And no nowadays there is still not that much wrong with a dual core. Android just isn't properly optimized to use all of its cores at the same time > that doesn't mean that it doesn't use all of its cores when it needs to to be powerful enough. But that means that, for example, when the load is 50% it is better for both cores to run on ~25% then one to be inactive and the other on 50%. Of course the single threaded performance of newer cores (A53 etc.) has increased, but that wasn't question
Phones are just like laptops, only more power constraint...
I know this case. Android closes apps with OOM and Memory Killer (something like that). Some apps could use to stay longer resident in the ram. The dificulty is that, for example, you could leave comfortably 10 tabs open in the browser, but if they use CPU power (even above 0.1%), the os will close the entire app. So no matter how much ram or cpu power you have, the power management will kick in?
We need a new kind of battery technology. Phones that don't need to recharge a whole month.
