[Q] GT-i9305 Wireless Charging? - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hi,
I own the Telstra Galaxy S III 4G, and am wondering if it supports wireless charging as the international GT-i9300 does. I have contacted Samsung, who replied:
"Unfortunately at this time the Galaxy S3 4G not currently have the ability to charge wirelessly in Australia at this time. This may change in future firmware upgrades."
Does this mean it would be possible to enable wireless charging? I have a feeling that 'future firmware upgrades' may just mean when Samsung releases an officially branded accessory, or am I being too cynical
Does anyone have anymore information?
Thanks

Same battery, same form factor, I'd be highly surprised if the GT-I9300 charging kit isn't compatible. But you know it requires a special case right?
There needs to be a 3000 mAh battery upgrade kit with a lime green flip cover and Qi charging support

Ahh, I didn't know it needed a special case, so there is a catch. And I have the lime green flip cover too  best one.

Any word when the original samsung Car Dock with usb injector is coming out?

I had the note 1 and the samsung car dock with usb injector was perfect, the note slided into place and conected to the usb injector perfectly.
Its good when you use the car a lot for short trips and you need an easy car dock charger.
all other car holders are useless as i need the charging feature without having to connect the usb cable every time...
I cant find the new samsung card dock for the galaxy note 2 anywhere or any dates when it is coming out!
....Any ideas?
No idea, but I hope soon. I want this phone, but without a car dock it's going to be hard for me
Yeah! ive been waiting too. I guess you are not the only one. But will it charge slower for our galaxy note 2? cuz its using 2A charger? can the ciggrate lighter support 2A?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
My in-car charger is 3A but it's wired in to the fuse box. Check your fuse box for the cigarette lighter to see what it will take before blowing, I imagine at least 5A.
Any update on this?
This is the single thing preventing me from getting this device.
They have sold over 3 million Note II's and they still don't have an official car dock?
I use my phone way too much in my car to settle for junk. I want landscape mode capable dock with USB injector and a good charger as we all know we should get from Samsung. If we get an official dock I'm getting a Note II ASAP.
PS: does this phone support Apt-x bluetooth audio?
I spent some coin on the HTC bluetooth adapter and it works fantastic with my EVO 4G LTE's bluetooth 4.0 with Apt-x... if it would work with this phone I'd do a jig.

Yes it does support APT-X.
I am also hoping to see the dock soon. I used it with my original Note and am missing it now.

I think that looks fugly however. Are there any docks that use landscape orientation or is it pretty much portrait across the board with this phone? I think landscape is so much better...
Edit: I see that it is capable of landscape rotation

Standard bluetooth stereo audio is usually terrible compared to plugging directly into the headphone jack. Apt-X (only with compatible devices, example: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Stereo-Clip-On-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B0057WWK5E ) gives much better quality sound.
Car mode removed on Galaxy Note 2
All, we at iBOLT (manufacturer of car-docks) have been checking into the Jellbean Kernel and for some reason Samsung does not support car-mode or aux-out through the microUSB and car-mode at this time. If you want these features, please contact Samsung so we can put some pressure to have these features reinstated. Technically it would be very simple to do so for Samsung.

Hay Mikael thanks for taking such a close interest in our crasy community's feedback. I would count on a mod being available soon for us to use if we have a car dock with intergrated usb aux out. Although if Samsung wont enable this you cant advertise it but its a safe bet one of us is going to get a weekend itch and scratch out a mod.

At least one person has reported the Note II working with the same cable provided with the S3 iBolt car dock. Perhaps some kernels from different carriers still have support built in? Post in question seems to be referring to the T-Mobile version.

I'm using a NFC tag to open Car Home Ultra which triggers car mode. It also sets the brightness and screen timeout settings.

I used to have Note 1 and original Samsung car mount for it. Now i use that same car mount for my Note 2. It's not ideal fit, but it works good enough. Can be used in both, portrait and landscape mode.

I am not seeing this result, but I have the Sprint version of the Note 2. Sounds like there are some different kernels floating around with different features. I have been able to "force" car mode by getting creative (and a little stupid) and restoring the "Dock Mode" app from my HTC Evo 3D (thank you Titanium Backup) and running that app's "Car Mode" activity as a short cut, but the only way to get it out of car mode at that point is to reboot
I'm hoping for a little bit cleaner method of doing this in the near future.

Oregon Wireless charging Station

Hey all, this wireless charging solution is very expensive, but was wondering if it would charge and be compatible with the Note 2, they say it charges 5w maximum is that fast enough? Here is the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clock-Wir...1179942?pt=UK_Alarmclocks&hash=item27cb19a4a6

try searching, theres a multiple wireless threads around!
Do you have the international version of galaxy note 2? If so, that should work if you can get your hands on a qi enabled battery cover
Edit: that's so expensive. Buy an awesome alarm clock and a energizer qi charger and save 60... or buy a chumby and get a much better clock

5W would equate to 1A at 5V

The international version of the phone doesn't come with built-in wireless charging.
You would need a special case/battery cover for your phone. I am not even sure that such a thing exists yet (for QI charging)

no galaxy note 2 has built in wireless charging out of the box, you need to add a receiver or a battery cover with a receiver.
and yes, the receiver do exist, I have a few coming in.

Everyone will have to add the receiver if wireless charging is required.
It's only the nexus 4 and a dozens of other japanese model phones have the qi built-in out of the box.
I'm a woman by the way, just thought id correct that. But anyway cheers for the info, is there anywhere I could buy the thing I need to put in the case, preferably in the UK cheers x

Wireless charger bundles with Note 5 same as S6?

Question for all. Whats the model number of you charging pad? I got a Note 5 and a bundled wireless charger and i just realized that they gave me the same charger that they gave me when i got my S6 edge.
Model: EP-PG920I
The Note 5/S6edge + charger is still not officially available from Samsung Store, so is it possible we all got S6 charger, that's isn't fast wireless charging? Takes me 2.5 hours for a full charge when i thought it shouldn't take more than 90 minutes.
Yes, it's been stated many times. The charger best buy or anyone else gives you is not a fast wireless charger and often doesn't work correctly with the note 5.

"doesn't work correctly" ? I used the old wireless charger at an AT&T store and it worked just fine... albeit much slower than the Fast Charge pads I tested in Korea last month.
They intermittently work.

When I talked to Samsung they told me the fast chargers, the round white ones, were specifically made for the note 5 and the S 6 + edge. They told me the round black one, the same one Best Buy gave me when I bought my phone, was incompatible with the note 5.
Here's a link to the thread. Hopefully it helps answer some questions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/help/wireless-charging-issues-t3185669
I don't have any issues with my S6 wireless charger, except I was expecting getting the Note 5 charger. Also, how could it be incompatible?? It's a standard. That's like saying a microUSB cable is incompatible with Note 5. Doesn't make sense. I don't have any connection problem, it never gives the blinking blue light as some have reported, I actually find it works better with Note 5 than S6 edge. My edge sometimes stopped charging, or just started making the sound like if i just plugged it to power source, until I moved it a little, it could charge OK for 30 minutes than just start freaking out until i moved it.
I thought the same thing...how could the new style charger be incompatible? But that's what the dummy at samsung told me when I called. He seemed very unhelpful and like he didn't care. I'm pretty sure the only requirement to be tech support is the ability to use Google search lol
The older square one best buy exchanged for me works flawlessly. I can't complain tho, it was free with purchase. In the future, I definitely won't be buying any charger that samsung makes. I'll wait for aftermarket fast chargers. At least their tech support staff will care if there's any issues unlike samsung.
Yeah I'm not seeing how there could be an incompatibility. The device is QI certified, and the Samsung charging pads are QI certified. Different specs don't matter, the charging rate will be as fast as both devices can handle. In this case, the older pads only do the original rate, so the phone will only receive 5W instead of 15W that it would receive from the newer "Fast Charge" pads.
If something isn't working, I would bet that it's a problem with the pad hardware, or with the phone hardware.
Am I missing something?

I had nothing but issues with the free wireless charger and exchanged it multiple times with no success. After doing some research, it seems some carriers may be having more issues than others. I am on Verizon and have read that the problem may be a software change made to the phone. I do have a Tylt charger that works just fine. There appears to be something causing issues with the communication between the phone and the specific Samsung charger. I had also read that the interruption in charging may be related to receiving notifications. I no longer have a Samsung charger to do any further testing. I would agree that this should not be an issue since it is a standard, but too may people are experiencing issues for it not to be a real problem.
hey guys, please go vote here and lets narrow down where that problem comes from

Voted- I have the Sprint Note 5 and it has the problem with the Samsung disc charger from best buy.
I have had problems with my s6 edge+ and the note 5 with the regular samsung puck i got from best buy.
Regular galaxy s6 charges flawlessly on it. If u dont have problems u got lucky.
Maybe it has something to do with the new reciever for fast charging. Pisses me off i get a free charger and cant use it on my new phone that it came with.
Someone mentioned software related issue but i have tested the s6 edge+ powered off without any software running and still had problems.
I use sprint service and have a n920p device. I just used the poll. Maybe that will start pointing us in the right direction.

I was told by the sammy rep at bb that it doesn't have enough power to charge the note 5. I was told by the advanced tech guy on the phone with samsung that my bb got a bad batch.
It's not a bad batch, and not enough power is no excuse. It doesn't work right when the phone is off. Plus is starts charging fine, it shouldn't suddenly have less power after 5-20 mins. Plus, the key is what someone else said: it's a standard. If it says Qi compatible, it's required to work. Samsung is having problems with revenue, and they desperately need sales. I wonder if they are just trying to cover this up until their marketing campaign is done and they have another flagship to push. This is very un-apple like
The Note 5 wireless charge model is EP-PN920BBEG. On the Note 5 wireless charge, it will have the phrase: Fast charge. If you use S6 Edge wireless charge for your note 5, it still charges normally but not fast. You must use the right type of charger to have fast charge . But there are many store still sale the S6 Edge wireless charge for Note 5 users because of profit or another reason. You should ask them carefully. You can google the model to see the Note 5 wireless Charge look like. Sorry for my bad English
On a side note - the USA Samsung website finally lets you order the fast charge pads. $74.95 after tax.... this is what I get for being too impatient to wait for the Korean model my gf bought for me to arrive.
I got a wireless pad bundled with the note 5 at purchase. So far there's no problem with it. Looking at the model number, I think it's intended for the note 5.

Quick Charge 3.0 or Quick Charge 2.0?

After months of speculation, leaks and rumors, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are finally official at MWC 2016 in Barcelona. But some others rumors said the newest Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge didn't feature Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. And Samsung haven't announced yet whether Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge featured Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
I was confused. Anyone who has received the newest Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge can some evidences to make it clear?
Sadly, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are only outfitted with quick charge 2.0(Check Qualcomm news:https://www.qualcomm.com/news/snapd...-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge-powered-snapdragon-820) Will samsung release the firmware to change the quick charge 2.0 to the 3.0 in future? Just like the HTC One A9.

Purely speculation, but it could possibly be that that charger Samsung will supply is QC 2.0, even though the Snapdragon version of the phone will support the 3.0 standard. This was the situation with the LG G4...the phone supported quick charging, but the adapter did not, so it was not really advertised.
Also recall that there is the Exynos version, so there could be some branding/tech issues there as well.
Until someone gets a snapdragon-based S7 in-hand with a certified 3.0 charger, we may not know unless someone at Samsung clarifies things.

It's been confirmed now that there's only QC 2.0 from multiple places. I will use wireless charging 99.9% of the time anyway plus QC 2.0 is still very fast.
The device manual says QC2.0
