I need your take on car mounts. iOttie vs exomount vs ngroove - Galaxy Note II Accessories

I drive a 2007 infiniti g35x and ngroove might block the stylish infiniti clock. And I'm leaving towards exomount or iottie. Any suggestions?

If your CD player is high up then you probably can't go wrong with the ngroove. My CD player is low so the phone blocks my radio/buttons.

I also have ngroove. CD player needs to be high so it doesn't block buttons or display.

Exogear 2 is the best mount I have ever used, hands down. I have tried what seems like every possible type. It is truly a stable, universal mount.

I have an exomount and while its built well and sticks anywhere, its a pain in the ass sometimes to have to use two hands to get it mounted and unmounted.

I went with the ProClip and have been very happy

I've ordered the iottie but hasn't arrived yet. I'm using an exo mount at the moment and it's nice. You Def need two hands to put it in/out.
Other problem I have with it is its really wobbly and heaps of shake. It's because the arm is narrow and the base is flexible.

Smart move buddy! Have mine for over a year and still works like a charm

The Mountek works well for me. Very easy to install and makes the phone very accessible.

Mountek covers buttons in both cars. Nice quality though.

i have been using my exomount for a while and have been very happy. i just however upgraded from sgs2 to note 2. it bring the mount to the limits of its clamping ability. this was demonstrated while driving and it fired it with force straight at me. i believe they make larger ones though.

the iottie is great. Allows for one handed operation and holds the device firmly.

[DIY] My cheap mounts (home and car)

Well, I use two cheap mounts for my Nexus 7:
- On home, I use a mount that I saw on a youtube video a year ago, It uses a rubik's snake:

- And for car, I use a foto stand made of plastic (0,50€), yes, a foto stand
The tablet doesn't move and fits perfect!
Any suggestions for improve the mounts ?
Nice stands but a dock would have some form of connection for power and data surely?

ups sorry! I change the name. Thanks
Very nice car stand! My only concern is that you are almost blocking the buttons... Wouldn't be nicer if you trimmed the stand a little?

Thanks !
The stand is made of cheap plastic, I think if I try to trim it'll break. The only button I cannot access is the "recent apps" that is unnecessary for mi when I'm driving. I'm thinking to use GMD Gesture app for replace all the buttons.
At the moment, I can use back and home without problems
If you used the true tablet UI tweak, you wouldn't have to worry about that, because your buttons would all be on the left side!
Try the belkin case for the kindle fire. I use it on my acer a100 in the home and car. With a small bungee cord between the headrest posts then able to play movies in any vehicle for the kids. Will post pics after work today

I tried the tablet ui but I didn't like! I like the actual notification bar. Buttons are not a problem for me, I need home and back and I can press them.

How exactly does the car mount hold the tablet in place? It looks like if you'd punch the gas that thing would be on the floor.
This is what it looks like out of the car. It doesn't block my connections as well as set up any where I need it. Great for protection also. It is the belkin case for the kindle fire.

Are you testing a gorilla pod style tripod?

I got this when I got my monopod; very useful when going to muesums and so forth where tripods are not allowed. It will hold the GN2.
Otherwise, I would just get some kind of car dock you like, and just add the screw bracket; superglue can do wonders.
This product looks really good for our Note 2!

I have this. Don't get it. It fits, but it is such a tight fit that it is unpleasant to use. You have to either not use a case, or scrape out the rubber pads.

I just ordered one. I'll report back here once it comes in.
Combining with a Gorillapod for double duty as carmount and camera tripod.
The iStabilizer is fantastic.
Plenty of room for a larger phone when you pull it open, but it still grips the Note II firmly with soft rubber pads. I am not an expert, but it feels very well constructed.
In conjunction with my Gorillapod, it makes a perfect mobile car mount gripping the PT Cruiser's oh **** bar on the passenger dash.

Perhaps the cd slot type mount? With the slope the Xenomix on top of dash wouldn't work nor the magnetic style either. I believe Xenomix also makes the cd slot mount. Both are in this subforum.

Did you figure anything out yet? I have a 2013 that has a similar setup inside. I tried a small case with Velcro on the back of the case then put some over the cd slot. It worked and I don't use cds, but just didn't feel right.

+1. Was going to post the same mount.
Here's a vid:
I've used this for a bit, http://www.amazon.com/Tetrax-72016-Smartphone-Magnetic-Airvent/dp/B0030IMXHM
It has never fallen other than the one time I caused it to. I also used Tetrax for my cell phone for years and loved it. Be prepared to glue a small circle of metal on your case though. It is not unsightly and doesn't look bad IMO.

This is my cheap alternative. Neodymium magnet and a modded case.
That's pretty neat. Where did you find the magnet?
Amazon has a great selection. I use the same magnet type setup in my car.
I personally would look to mount close to the small window which can be seen in front of your wing mirror. Stick a suction pad to that small quarter window which shouldn't affect visibility and its tucked out of the way. That magnet with double sided sticky tape looks like it could be an issue. Does heat not cause the glue to soften? Also in the event of an accident, it could go flying.

Google. Found a webshop in the Netherlands. But on eBay there are sellers enough.
I used a magnet with a diameter of 25 mm.

Cheap Car Dock Alternative. Bionic Dock.

Being both cheap and a tinkerer I had heard of folks modifying Bionic desk docks to fit the RAZR M but had not heard of anyone who had done this with a Bionic Car dock. Some of you might say "But there is a perfectly good dock for the Razr M available"; however, at $31 on Amazon it was quite a bit more coin than the bionic dock for $6.
So I took the plunge and last night performed the minor surgery. Turned out pretty good. The plastic is pretty soft so I just used a utility knife (carefully) and lengthened the micro usb hole so I could slide over the plug. Had to trim off other stuff that holds the micro usb tip in place but the gutting was pretty easy. Then I had to secure it in its new position since I had to cut away all the mounting plastic so a couple drops of crazy glue to hold it where I wanted it and a good helping of hot glue and its secure.
Works great. Audio out through the combo cable is great. Phone goes into "car mode" when in it.
Pretty happy for $6.
Nice job! I'll be doing this before my next road trip!

Just a note for anyone doing this, 4.2.2 ROMs don't have working audio through the dock yet (at least none I have found so far). So if you want to reap the benefits of a dock, stay on stock or go to Clean Rom 1.1.
It is a good mod. A chore to say the least. I did it in a way to allow space for my favorite case. You have to mod the new also if you want the same.
Edit some moldable epoxy, crazy glue & black sharpie help.
Mountek nGroove
The best dock I've used is the Mountek nGroovel; price point its not terrible at like $20 and it utilizes the CD slot not the windshield.
Personally I hate taking up real estate on my windshield and the height that this dock puts my phone at is perfect IMO. It rotates and you still have access to charging and headphone jack, it also works for garmins, etc. as well

Best car mount for Note 8

Hello guys, I am looking around and trying to deside which mount is most suitable for our phone. I own a BMW E36 and I think that a ventilation grill mount would be the most suitable. Can anyone make any suggestion?

I've got one of these attached to a Brodit mount. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/CAR...976.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.466b4c4dH1YcMr
It's inexpensive, holds the phone fine (as the width is adjustable), and can charge wirelessly through my Ringke case with no problems.

I've used a Brodit mount for years, probably would have picked that mount up if I had seen it earlier.
However, I do like not having to slide the phone in/out a holder and the magmount itself is much more compact.

Fair enough. It might not be for everybody, but I simply drop the phone into the holder - I don't press the release catch to remove it, or adjust the arms when placing the phone.

I just got one of these https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Cha...sr=8-19&keywords=Wireless+charging+vent+mount a couple weeks ago, and it is doing great. With a QC3 compatible plug, it does Wilreless Fast charging. It's almost as handy as a mag mount since it uses gravity to pull down the bottom arm which pulls in the sides, not buttons to push to release it.
There appear to be several other companies selling the same mount, so it may be found for a couple dollars cheaper.
