Hello guys, I am looking around and trying to deside which mount is most suitable for our phone. I own a BMW E36 and I think that a ventilation grill mount would be the most suitable. Can anyone make any suggestion?
I'm loving my Pitaka Magmount Qi with the Pitaka MagCase. Discussion here

I've got one of these attached to a Brodit mount. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/CAR...976.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.466b4c4dH1YcMr
It's inexpensive, holds the phone fine (as the width is adjustable), and can charge wirelessly through my Ringke case with no problems.

I've used a Brodit mount for years, probably would have picked that mount up if I had seen it earlier.
However, I do like not having to slide the phone in/out a holder and the magmount itself is much more compact.

Fair enough. It might not be for everybody, but I simply drop the phone into the holder - I don't press the release catch to remove it, or adjust the arms when placing the phone.

If anyone needs to save some dollars on the ProClip, let me know. I've used the same cradle since my original Note. Have only changed the dash mount as I changed cars. Audi to Acura and now Subaru.

I just got one of these https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Cha...sr=8-19&keywords=Wireless+charging+vent+mount a couple weeks ago, and it is doing great. With a QC3 compatible plug, it does Wilreless Fast charging. It's almost as handy as a mag mount since it uses gravity to pull down the bottom arm which pulls in the sides, not buttons to push to release it.
There appear to be several other companies selling the same mount, so it may be found for a couple dollars cheaper.

Since my HD2 is now broken (dropped it face down on the concrete) , I'm thinking about getting the HD7. I purchased the official OEM HD2 car mount for my phone and I really enjoyed it. But I wanted to know if this same car mount would fit the HD7 as well.
From reading the dimensions and visually comparing the 2 devices, everything seems to be pretty close match to each other (such as the micro usb port, thickness and such.) I spent $60 on the mount, and its really good, but I don't want to get another one. So I was really hoping that someone may have been in a similar situation, and can find out for me please.

yes...but with a small handicap.
as the on/off switch of the hd7 is suited on the devices top side, the upper clip of the holder gives you no chance to switch on/off your device, cause there is no more accsess to it.
so a little maintenance on the upper clip is asked.
The small difference in height and the width between 2 and 7 is accepted by the holder - with some violence.
Wouldn't recommend it
Just as [hums] mentioned, it requires a little "violence" to get it to fit - you won't be able to attach/detach it easily with one hand like you could with the HD2.
Also, the power button is completely obstructed, and I don't see a way to mod the clip to make it accessible without destroying the structural integrity of the clip.
I'd suggest purchasing the HD7 Car Holster from EXPANSYS (item #206957) - I don't have it myself, but I plan on ordering it today. The only downside is that the power connector isn't integrated, but none of the HD7 car cradles on the market seem to have an integrated power connector.
I've just got this one from mobilefun.co.uk and i've gotta say it's the best i've owned.
Even though it's "universal", which i usually assoicate with "Cheap crap", it's fantastic. Build quality, ease of use, and fit. For a tenner i'd recommend to anyone.
Just got the Verizon/Motorola Vehicle Mount for the Droid 4 and it has a removable insert so it supports the phone both with and without a case...but so far the only "official" cases offered by Verizon are blue and purple.
I know the case selection is pretty limited at this point but does anyone know of any other cases that are compatible with this mount?
EDIT: I ended up buying this generic case for $5 on Amazon and it fits perfectly. Someone on a different forum also mentioned that this case works (although it might actually be the same case as mine after looking at it), while the Otterbox Commuter case is NOT compatible.

this is the first pic i have seen of the vehicle mount... can you use the keyboard with this mount? or is it forever closed?

Not exactly. I have my D4 (with the case that comes in the power and protection package) in the car mount with the keyboard exposed. You just have to remember to slide open the phone before rotating the retaining clip from the rear. It does not fit as tight as when the phone is closed, but with the power connector on the bottom (in this orientation) and the retaining clip on the top, the phone is not going anywhere.
i have the verizon universal windshield mount (im tired of having to buy a new mount for each phone) and the black silicon case fits in with it perfectly
Just tested it out and my generic $5 case fits perfectly.
I drive a 2007 infiniti g35x and ngroove might block the stylish infiniti clock. And I'm leaving towards exomount or iottie. Any suggestions?

If your CD player is high up then you probably can't go wrong with the ngroove. My CD player is low so the phone blocks my radio/buttons.

I also have ngroove. CD player needs to be high so it doesn't block buttons or display.
Exogear 2 is the best mount I have ever used, hands down. I have tried what seems like every possible type. It is truly a stable, universal mount.

I have an exomount and while its built well and sticks anywhere, its a pain in the ass sometimes to have to use two hands to get it mounted and unmounted.

I went with the ProClip and have been very happy
I've ordered the iottie but hasn't arrived yet. I'm using an exo mount at the moment and it's nice. You Def need two hands to put it in/out.
Other problem I have with it is its really wobbly and heaps of shake. It's because the arm is narrow and the base is flexible.

Smart move buddy! Have mine for over a year and still works like a charm
The Mountek works well for me. Very easy to install and makes the phone very accessible.
Mountek covers buttons in both cars. Nice quality though.

i have been using my exomount for a while and have been very happy. i just however upgraded from sgs2 to note 2. it bring the mount to the limits of its clamping ability. this was demonstrated while driving and it fired it with force straight at me. i believe they make larger ones though.
the iottie is great. Allows for one handed operation and holds the device firmly.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a dash or wind shield mount for a nexus 7 for a Honda Civic US 8th generation (2006–2011)?
This is what the car and dash look like for reference.

Perhaps the cd slot type mount? With the slope the Xenomix on top of dash wouldn't work nor the magnetic style either. I believe Xenomix also makes the cd slot mount. Both are in this subforum.

Did you figure anything out yet? I have a 2013 that has a similar setup inside. I tried a small case with Velcro on the back of the case then put some over the cd slot. It worked and I don't use cds, but just didn't feel right.

+1. Was going to post the same mount.
Here's a vid:
I've used this for a bit, http://www.amazon.com/Tetrax-72016-Smartphone-Magnetic-Airvent/dp/B0030IMXHM
It has never fallen other than the one time I caused it to. I also used Tetrax for my cell phone for years and loved it. Be prepared to glue a small circle of metal on your case though. It is not unsightly and doesn't look bad IMO.

This is my cheap alternative. Neodymium magnet and a modded case.
That's pretty neat. Where did you find the magnet?
Amazon has a great selection. I use the same magnet type setup in my car.
I personally would look to mount close to the small window which can be seen in front of your wing mirror. Stick a suction pad to that small quarter window which shouldn't affect visibility and its tucked out of the way. That magnet with double sided sticky tape looks like it could be an issue. Does heat not cause the glue to soften? Also in the event of an accident, it could go flying.

Google. Found a webshop in the Netherlands. But on eBay there are sellers enough.
I used a magnet with a diameter of 25 mm.
hi ive tried looking online and cant find anything, I am after a car charger that can charge the phone like the dock does with the 2 pins. if there isn't one could I get some one to manufacture it. it would be quite simple I think. you could have a spring loaded clip than grips the sides of the phone and the pins are set into the bottom part that holds the phone, the pins could be linked to a female micro usb port then you just plug your own charger into it. I hope this makes sence if not ask me and Ill try to explain more

hi,
you can make a dock for less than £10 that uses the charging pins

I bought the Brodit holder from a store which apparently ****ed up, cause they trippled the price after I got mine. It's really good though. Definitely worth what I paid, but you would have to decide based on what you'll pay of course.

I agree! I have this holder too, installed TomTom and it's absolutely great! No need for a separate TomTom device anymore plus lifetime map updates!

I got the Brodit holder and arm from proclipusa.com (I think it's Brodit's official USA store)
With the arm I got a 'travel' suction cup version from that site so it's usable between vehicles.
Works great but stupidly expensive. Nice thing is the arm is usable with other Brodit holders should the need arise.
