Note that this doesn't make your tablet faster but makes it feel faster (I prefer the word zippy)
Bonus: search Google Play for "seeder" - it is probably very good but I can't tell whether it is seeder that has made a difference, personally because I made a lot other changes to my tablet and I have a new router.
Be a pumpkin and hit the thanks if you're gonna stick with the changes

There are developers from google and cyanogen saying seeder is worthless unless you are on android older than ICS. Not to be "that guy" but you are a bit late to the party on these tips. They should have come up if you did a search.
On the other hand its better to have to many people trying to be helpful than not enough.

Actually, it isn't. The more threads with the same information the more overwhelming the search results can be, especially to a noob. Just sayin'.

Thanks, honestly I did search under a few different keywords and I've had the nexus 7 pretty much since release and I've probably seen 60-70% of things in the Nexus 7 threads and I don't remember this precise one.
I appreciate the time you took to write those words and it may be a basic method but it does everything I said about it, plus there's no need for any backup or anything.

I always just turn them all completely off on all my phones and tablets. Also installed the Seeder app and I don't on know if it's a placebo effect but tab definitely feels much more responsive going from app to app and things loading a little quicker. This app seems like the V6 supercharger mod in an app.

I ran it to, and it says the entropy pool is up, but you can accomplish the same thing with a sysctl tweak. No apps, nothing to flash. Rather have a sysctl placebo effect than installing something unknown for a placebo effect, imo.

I've always preferred Android over other OS's, but this just shows the diversity of the platform. We have versions of iOS (miui on other devices) & Windows phone7 running on Android. How many iPhones or windows7 phones can mimic android OS successfully?
This is not a flame or a rant, i jus love the way I can change almost everything about how my android phone looks & works

The look of stock Android isn't that great, it's what you can do to customize the look that I like. The WP7 UI just looks terrible. I can't even say this looks like a good idea. I guess I can say it's cool for those that actually like the WP7 UI.

I also use Metro UI and I think it's the best Windows Phone 7 Launcher out. The guy is always updating it too. It's pretty smooth. I'm not a huge fan of Windows Phone 7 but it's nice to have a different feel sometimes. I switch between stock launcher, adw ex, and metro UI. Why not?

Aye lass. Each to thine own
I personally love MIUI - best of what iOS should've been but... its ANDROID!
I love the music player, browser, widgets, and over all customization you get with it.
Not to mention I like the general layout and options - you can tweak just about everything in it.
I like the lockscreens - you get a ton of different options.
Not to mention the theme the community puts out.
The only thing I don't like (at no fault to MIUI) is I take a hit in battery life.
What kernel are you using? How do you use your phone?
What keyboard do you guys use? I personally use swype, it is the best keyboard when single handed. I know some of you like slideit but swype is completely free, and all features are available in the free version.
Your vote is much appreciated.

Yes third party keyboards do take some ram, that is why I almost only flash roms that support bigmen. casual use slow down is minimum, and again, ICS performance IS improving, although we may never reach the degree of fastness on gb, it's getting close.

I always used swype, and I loved it, until I first used swiftkey, who had the best predictions I've ever seen. Since that day I always used swiftkey, I have even tested swiftkey 3 beta, and it is awesome, but still a little bit unstable on my device. Can't wait for the official release.

Ordered my nexus 7 (x2) as soon as there was a button on the UK website. Now I know chrome is the default browser, so I thought sweet, I'll install it on my a500 so I can get used to it before the tab arrive's.
Omg, what a piece of rubbish, every time I change tabs from XDA to another site the page is just plain white, then back to XDA since it was already tabbed and loaded you'd assume it would still be, but no. Its plain white. Then to piss me off even more halve way though writing this post it crashed lol! What kind of a browser crashes inputting text lol. I don't know about A500 roms but to me it sounds like a memory issue or something, its sort of "killing" tabs to save memory and then reloading them once you need them again. Maybe some background processes eating memory?

Overall I find it to be far better than std browser.
I'm a very "clean user" I have fb opera order and chaos, that's it. thinking though maybe one of the processes I have disabled, chrome uses, I disable everything I don't use, camera Calender live wp themes etc, maybe that's the issue?

Unfortunately, my Nexus 5 did not recover from this and was stuck in a boot loop. Logcat showed a bunch of mm-camera errors.
I don't know how to switch the runtime back to dalvik. I can see the phone is loading libart.so, and if I could switch back to livdvm.so it might recover.
If anyone knows how to do this, it might be helpful to others.
I'm just going to restore the factory image to get the phone back.

ART does it all for you.
When you enable it will shut down your phone, then when you restart it will compile all the apps as it boots, this can take a few minutes and is battery intensive so make sure your phone has a good charge before you make the switch.
