[Q] [Play Music] Album Cover blurred/not sharp ?! - Nexus 7 General

Hey, i'm using Google Play Cloud (?) on my Nexus 7. I uploaded some songs from my computer to Google Play Music (where you can save online 20.000 songs for free) so i have the songs in my library on my Nexus 7. But when i try to play a song it works well, but only the album cover is not very sharp (see image). I bought all the songs from iTunes and uploaded them via the Music Manager to my Google Play Music library.
So why are the album covers so blurred/pixelated ? Covers from iTunes Store songs are always in high resolution so why aren't they sharp on my device?
Greetings,
Sebastian
Sorry for bad english.

ITunes isn't uploading your album art, its matching what you have to stuff on their servers. play music (until very recently) was actually uploading your files to their cloud. So if your music files have lower quality image files then that's what you got. Now that music is matching instead of actually uploading I suspect this will improve but I doubt it will have a retroactive effect...

When i uploaded all my music it used the album art i used for winamp (folder.jpg), at first these were 200x200px images and identical on both play and in winamp.
I have since updated a lot of my art to 500x500px images, which has improved quality in both winamp and play (website) but play does seem to have an upper limit resolution shown on play apps like the nexus and galaxy nexus i use. At a guess its around 400px.
Maybe they will feed us higher rez images in future revisions of the play app?

It's not the app, it's just the fact that Google fetches those images for you. If it gives you a bad one, just go onto the website and replace the album art.

I've tried uploading better resolution covers through the "My Music" page on play.google.com
I go to "album Info" and change the album photo.
It gets updated on the web, but in many cases it causes the cover to disappear from my phone. Instead of the previous low quality cover that Google Play originally fetched, I now get an empty gray square.
I've tried deleting the application data, to force a reload of all covers, but that did not help either.
Any advice?

It can be a tad buggy, but usually it updates within a few minutes.

Alternative audio player (DEVELOPERS NEEDED)

Hi, i've been looking for a nice music player for a vga screen (because i'm not that happy with the htc touchflo3d music player), but i can't seem to find a nice looking, good working music player.
I was thinking, i could make a nice design (i'm a webdesigner/designer) for a cool music player. But i'm not so good with programming. Maybe we can turn this into a project to make a nice diamond music player?
In short, i'm looking for one or more ppl who can develop software for the HTC Touch Diamond and are willing to develop a nice music player with me.
I like the old Audio Manager than the new one built into Touch Flo 3D
I made a design of what i think it should kinda look like. It's a concept and not 100% finished, but i would like to hear feedback

Nice!
A few suggestions:
Something better (maybe a bigger dot) to grab the bar if you would like to drag it back a bit in a song.
Something bigger for volume - to hard to press the right button in your mockup.
Better use of album art - maybe it could be the background wallpaper.
Info on next song.
Sorry, but I cant help since I havnt any programming skills. Maybe easiser to find someone in the developer section?!

yes, well maybe we can use the hardware buttons to manage the music volume.
album art.. as wallpaper it would be stretched and pixelled i'm afraid
Have you tried PocketMusic?
WOrks on VGA.. and it's pretty good looking, methinks.
I too like the standard old HTC Audio Manager player.
There are some cabs floating about which I've used to put it on older devices such as the Jamin and Orbit 1 and 2.
Does anyone know if the cab will work on the TD?
I suspect the resolution will be Ok but am concerned that the DLL files etc may clash with those of the new player.
PocketPlayer and MortPlayer are Ok but a bit fiddly.
I'm concerned because all of the vids I've seen make the new player look very simple but also very limited! Does anyone know if you can list ALL songs for an Artist (ie you have more than one album by say the Clash and want to select from a list of all Clash songs) with the new player on the TD?
Or can anyone try the existing AduioManager cab on the TD?
Many thanks.
I tried all sorts of audiomanager cab and zip files floating around here. The best i got is the audio manager on 1/4th of the screen working kinda. got a error in the title bar though. all other vga versions didn't seem to work..

[Live Wallpaper] Album Art - RELEASED

Have spent a bit more time working on Live Wallpapers, and the newest one pulls your album art and shows it on the home screen, a bit like the screensaver OS X comes with.
Features:
* Accesses your Android album art library (if you see it in Music Player, you see it here...)
* Shuffle feature
* Compatible with LauncherPro
* Very fast (approx 0.5 seconds on first load)
* Smooth scrolling between screens
* Periodically changes individual covers
* Opaque setting to make pale text easier to read.
Update:
Thanks to the team of beta testers who did a great job helping me identify bugs and implement a few new features. The Album Art Live Wallpaper is now released to the Market for 99p, and a demo is also available for free.

thanks looks interesting
Love it Now I need to get all my album art for my music haha
Awwh.. I thought it would be scrolling verticalling or horizontal through all the covers slowly. (Think: Matrix, but with covers)
But it just updates the pictures directly.
ohhh its a paid app..

The game currently doesn't support the direct downloading of song packs just yet, but that will be added in the next version (1.1b). But here is the way to add more songs for the time being. This is taken from the BeatsIIDX website:

Installing Stepfiles
Posted by Keripo on 2010-10-19 02:05:00 BST
For this beta release, you must manually install the songs. Future releases may have an integrated pack installer.
Once you have downloaded a song pack (from any of the above links), follow the following instructions:
1) Connect your phone to your computer and put it in USB mode.
2) Download a song pack in .zip/.rar/.smzip format from any of the above locations (or just use Google)
3) Use a file archiver (e.g. 7-zip/WinRar/WinZip) to extract the pack's content to your computer.
4) Copy the extracted folders into your phone's "Beats/Songs" folder. (Should be located on the root of your internal sd card)
5) Disconnect your phone and start up Beats on your phone
6) Use the "Select Music" menu item to navigate to the folder you just copied over, then navigate around and select a stepfile ending with '.sm'.
7) Press the "MENU" button to select stepfile difficulty and press the 'Start' menu item to play your song. If you have the "Auto-Play" setting enabled, the song will instead start automatically.
Note: Beats currently does not support .dwi files so if your song pack uses .dwi files, you must convert them to .sm files using StepMania. See the StepMania website for instructions. There is also the .ogg sync bug (see Android Issue #11590), so if your songs are encoded in .ogg, use a media convert/player such as foobar2000 to convert it to standard .mp3 format.

Lol stepmania port.
And a good one at that. V1.1b came out today in the market.

Thanks for this, it's a freakin sweet game! It'd be cool if the tracks were longer, other than that I love it! There's an abundance of songs you can download for it, plus it's free so I mean no one can complain about it.
RIP Stepmania 2004-2007.
Not trying to downplay this game at all, but what ever happened to the idea of an osu! port? If that's not gonna happen, the devs for Beats could look at their song installation system on the iphone for ideas

Hi,
Please follow the instructions.
A long press on a song in 'My Download' starts up a menu. Set it to ring tongs. The size of the song must be less than 1MB, length is less than 39 seconds. We provide a ring site(zedge) for users. Most of ring tones in there are available.

Samsung's Milk Music app for our Galaxy Tab 7.7?

EDIT!
I download the apk from the link below. No root needed! Works ok. App is a little blurry, guessing it was made for the smaller phone screen.
But hey, FREE MUSIC and no ads. Sweet! Love the "Dial" where we can switch music on the fly. Using it with my car's bluetooth connection.

yeah it works fine, thank you.
I saw a module related to this player in xposed, I think it helps those that can not run it. if you had any problems, maybe that will help you.
With the recent updates to Soundcloud angering me, and Pandora and other similar apps just not as appealing to me, I'm glad to see that there is a version out there for my 7.0 tab 3. I'm going to give this a shot after I finish jailbreaking my 5s (attempting a 7.1.2 update). Now the debate will continue... Samsung Tablet, Digital Camera... should I go for the phone or stick with iFruit... time will tell I guess this October.
Works with no root?
I have an HTC One and I downloaded the app and it installed but when I open the app it says device not supported. Am I missing something or was the "no-root" misadvertised. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
