[Q] Korean S3 SHV-E210K unlocking/rom change - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hello,
I'm considering getting the korean S3 and I have a couple of questions. it is might worth mentioning that It's going to be my first smartphone and I don't live in Korea.
1. Is it the same phone as the i9305?
2. Is the phone (and specifically) locked for other sims?
3. A friend of mine bought the same phone and was able to use it with a chinese sim. Will I be able to use my Israeli sim in that phone?
4. If the phone is locked, can I unlock it? if so, then how?
5. Are the Roms for i9305 are good for the korean s3 as well?
Thanks,
Gil

1. it shouldn´t be the same, as it doesn´t have the same number
2. only if you bought it together with a contract from a service provider
3. I think so, but you´ll most probably need a Micro Sim (you need that with any S3)
4. If you didn´t buy it from a provider, it shouldn´t be locked
5. i don´t think so, but you can try it out

Shifting Countries... Change of Phone Needed?

Hi Everyone,
I would be shifting countries (India to US) next month. I have Galaxy S and i plan to hold on to it, till the Galaxy S III prices become stable.
So i was wondering do i have to get a new phone once i move to the US? Or i can continue with my Galaxy S and just pick up a new mobile operator (AT&T, Verizon etc)? I dont know how things work in the US!
It will work
Thanks for the info.
Heya! If your unit is openline (no network/SIM lock), then you should be able to use it anywhere you go! ^.~

[Q] Advice

Hi ... I ddecided to give the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 in favor of another's phone .. or two phones. The phone are LG Nexus 4 or LG Optimus G ... are almost similar ... difference is the camera. But I want to buy from America .. and I'm in Europe.
Question is which of phone is better? Both performance and design. And if you take the phone from America ... will be a problem with sim .. meaning phone will accept my operator?
check xda. who has the most support most roms etc. buy that.
Provided your phone is "unlocked" to enable you to use sim cards from any network provider, and it is tri/quad band, you'll be fine.

Hi guys!
I bought a new S3 Mini two days ago from an online company as a Pay as you go phone it came with a Vodaphone top up sim and i have no use for the sim as ive got a contract/pay monthly sim already i just needed a new phone, Anyways ive received it and its locked to Vodaphone WTH?? its a PAYG phone why have they locked it? Anyways as its the new type S3 mini "GT-i8200N" (Faster CPU) ive been looking for a way to sim unlock it without using these dodgy online companies as my brother paid for some company online to unlock his phone and they started buying items all over the world with his Card details so for this reason i wont use any sites online! so i wondered if there is a way around this and does anyone know how please?

The value of locked/unlocked phone

Hi, guys,
I want to get your opinion.
Let's say you want to buy Samsung Galaxy S3 from eBay.
The phone is from AT&T, for example, and you are with Rogers (Canada)
So, to use this phone with Rogers you need to unlock it.
Current price (on 10-JAN-2015) to unlock S3 is about $12-14
Would you buy AT&T for, let's say, $40 and unlock it for $12. ($52 in total)
Or you will buy unlocked S3 or Rogers' S3 phone for more $$$, let's say, $55-60
Thanks
Locked/unlocked is not really a concern except for Apple devices which are unlocked through a central database.

Can’t decide which one help be choose.

Hello good day all.
It’s been while between reading and watching reviews, and I’m trying to find out which note 8 model will fulfill my needs before I purchase.
My main aim on:
1-Snapdragon.
2- Unlocked.
3- Single SIM.
4- 128GB “I can change to 64 if there is no option”.
5- In long term of use will have developer support such as custom ROM …etc.
What I found out so far SM-N9500 & SM-N950U1.
*SM-N9500 : is snapdragon and unlocked but dual SIM which I’m not fan of.
*SM-N950U1 : is snapdragon , and from what I read and understand it's unlocked but “not sure if it will work outside US”.
If there is any opinion or other models please inform me, I want to decide because I’m using the device for long period of time and I have to make sure.
Get the version intended for your home country and from an OFFICIAL AUTHORIZED DEALER, if you plan to use it for a very long time, that is my sincere advice for you

Actually my home country with exynos processors and I wanna stay away form it , yes it is "good" processors but i have good experience with snapdragon with my current note 3.
Up
Need answer please
Sm-n950u has been good to me. But I have no out of network experience with it. Mine is carrier locked, which is better for carrier specific needs such as LTE calling.
Since you mentioned Unlocked & Custom ROMs, keep in mind that Unlocked means SIM unlocked, not bootloader unlocked. USA N950U unlocked variants are only SIM unlocked, the BL is locked.
The only Snapdragon that would most likely have an unlockable BL is the Chinese & HK N9500.
No need to worry about the phone being dual SIM. I actually was a bit disappointed when my Note 8 shipped as a dual SIM, but am way over it now. If you do not insert a second SIM and simply use it as a single SIM phone you don't have any issues nor any icons in the notification bar. The only difference is that in the call log you will see all calls were made/received on SIM 1 and that you will have the SIM Manager option in Settings. Other than that no signal issues (like I experienced on the dual SIM note 7 last year) ar of any other kind, I am quite happy with my SM-N950F.
Where are you going to be using the phone? What network are you with?
