[Q] HDMI dock issues

Hi All,
I have a T-mobile tab with an HDMI dock and I have been using it as my media center ever since the motherboard to my HTPC has crapped out. I'm currently running overcome 1.4.2 with UC/OC kernel. My tab works fine with the dock and by that I mean playing movies or streaming from the internet from apps such as "TV shows stream". However when I activate bluetooth it disrupts my viewing anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes whereby causing the video that I was watching to restart. This has happened on my previous Roto rom as well. Again, once I deactivate bluetooth, it works fine. I'm using a logitech PS3 bluetooth keyboard to surf from my couch. Even without the keyboard connected to the tab this problem still occurs. So something with the bluetooth is causing these weird restarts of my media.
Does anyone else having this problem? It is really annoying. Perhaps modifying the bluetooth script or something to that effect is needed. Any ideas anyone? Otherwise I love my tab and even more so with the use of the dock.
Are you using wifi or 3g data when you are in the cradle?

I'm on wifi. Never tried it with 3g.
Okay...so here's some more info. If I keep the logitech ps3 mediaboard keyboard active by moving the mouse or pressing the spacebar every 6 to 10 minutes or so the media continues to play. So it seems that when the keyboard goes into power save mode and disconnects it causes the media...ie: movie, show, or flash video to restart or exit. Does anyone else with an HDMI dock experience this problem? Videos play fine without interruption so long as bluetooth is disabled.
For those of you who aren't experiencing this issue, what brand/type of bluetooth keyboard are you using?
Okay, well it looks like I'm chatting with myself but oh well. Here's another update. Even with keeping the keyboard active through clicks or mouse movements streaming media will still restart after a given time. Usually around 10 minutes or so. Keep in mind that I have now found that it seems to only affect streaming media. Media that's on the tab plays fine with the only interruption being a brief image flicker when the bluetooth keyboard goes to power save mode. I would also like to reiterate that leaving bluetooth active on the tab does not cause any problem, streaming or not. The issues I experience only happen when the logitech mediaboard is on.
I'm hoping that the issue here is with the keyboard alone and not with tab's bluetooth program. To test out this theory I went ahead and purchased another bluetooth keyboard. I found a logitech dinovo mini on ebay for $62 with free shipping. If nothing else, the form factor of the dinovo mini is pretty cool and it has good reviews. Wish me luck with this new keyboard. I'll give an update when I receive and test out the device.
I use the apple mini keyboard, but not tge cradle. I might try it tomorrow. Good luck with the new one.
I got my Dinovo Mini in the mail this morning. It works flawlessly. No more restarts on my media!!! Very nice compact little unit. The only thing it is missing as far as the tab is concerned is a home button. Other than that, a purchase well worth the $62 bucks IMO.
P.S. --> If anyone knows what combo buttons you have to press to simulate a home button please let me know.
HDMI - Flickers
Muh
I have also problems with the Media-Dock and HDMI on my Flatsceen TV.
I'm currently using PDA: JMK.
(Firmware 2.2 / Kernel: 2.6.32.9 / Build: FROYO.XWJMK)
The Error:
The Handshake betwen the Galaxy Tab and the TV looks like it works well. After a couple of seconds I get a perfect picture with Sound. But after 5 seconds the picture disapers. 2 Seconds later it comes back for 1 second, and disapears again. The picture the starts to flicker ... comes, goes, comes, goes ... sometimes I see then snow for a second, then comes the picture back and disapears again ...
What I think what could be the Problem:
I think it could be a problem with HDCP.
What I tested:
I connected the Galaxy Tab with the same cable to a PC-Screen. Perfect picture, no problems!
About the TV:
I tried all HDMI-Ins. Including the one that is special for connecting a PC to the TV. I have no problems with my T-Online Media Resiver (Entertain) connected to my TV over HDMI. And I'm shure that HDCP is used with the T-Online Media Resiver.
Does any one have an Idea how to fix the Problem?
Greetings,
Heavy
I had an issue with the picture going in and out as well. For me the problem was I was low on charge and I had the dock powered by a non stock charger which only trickle charged at most so the picture would keep cutting out every time it told that I was low on battery. This doesnt come up until you get around 10% remaining. That was solved by using the stock charger. The only other time I had an issue is when the tab is not secure in the cradle which was remedied by disconnecting it and then re-inserting it back into the dock.
Hope that helps.

Sorry for posting this in this thread.
But, it would interest me if the HDMI-Dock really needs a USB-power-cable plugged into it to work?
Muh
Yes, the dock needs power to use the HDMI out . . .
My problem for shure does not be casted by power problems. Im getting more and more shure that I have a compatibility problem betwen the Tab and the Toshiba TV.
I will now search in HiFi forums for a fix, and inform you when I figured out something. May be a older firmware could fix it to . . .
Greetings,
Heavy

i cant understand why it needs a usb power cable for hdmi out?
is this really needed technically for it to work?
or is it just, idk to pester us?
because ipad also just has a hdmi adapter thing, where the usb cable is only optional.

I dont know, but without power you will not get any signal . . . I think the dock needs the power . . .
And i can not find any help for my problem in the web. It looks like i am the only one who has this problem.
But I figured out now that the tab is using 1024i as resolution . . . Does any one know if there is a way to switch the output resolutin of the hdmi?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
no the tab upscales to 1080p.
there are sometimes problems with tvs that arent fullhd. it has to be fulllhd and not hdready or something inbetween, otherwise there might be problems.
The dock needs a power cube to work. Without one it won't function. However you can use a non stock power supply but you'll end up running down the power, albeit more slowly. Why this is a necessity I'm not sure. I think for the majority of the time you would want to otherwise it will run down the juice pretty quickly since the screen stays on while outputting to the TV.
It is best to have a TV that is full 1080p. My 6 yr old TV is only 1080i but it still works. Others may have varying results.
It would be nice to have a standalone HDMI cable similar to the AV cable but I haven't seen anything like that yet.

In other teste of the docking i did also read 1024i, and thats exactly as what it has been identified by mx tv. My tv can do 1080d, that can not be the problem . . .
May be you can double check as what you tv identifies the signal?
Do you think it coulf be a idea to try an older firmware? Any known changes in the hdmi out in the firmware versions?

Ok, i know now where my problem comes from . . .
The tab realy sends 1080p, but my tv can only do 1080i. :O
Any chance to set the tab to a lower resolution for the hdmi out?
When i connect the tab to a hdmi - vga converter i will lose Audio? Right?

picture quality loss (like from DVI -> VGA)
no audio support

"No Signal" on samsung le32r51b. Please help!

I have recently bought a chromecast for my old old samsung le32r51b. it does have a HDMI input, so i figured it should work. But no matter what i do, i cannot get the chromecast to display anything. All it shows on my tv is "No Signal", which is exactly the same wether the Chromecast is in the HDMI input or not.
This is despite the TV detecting something is set in the HDMI input (i can choose it under sources of input), so it knows it is there, but doesnt show anything, at all.
I have tried to reset the chromecast.
I have made sure it gets power and blinks white as it should.
I have tried to power it with USB and regular power supply.
I have tried to use the HDMI extender cable.
I have tried to first set up the chromecast (powering it) and then setting it into my TV.
Nothing worked.
AFAIK it is sending and working properly with my smartphone, so i think my TV isnt showing what it is recieving?
I dont know if i can test this on my PC or stationary PC? i have tried connecting my chromecast to both, to make sure it was working properly, but they dont recieve any signal.
i have a Netgear Trek PR2000 for router. i cast from my iPhone 5 iOS 8.0.2
PC and laptops don't have HDMI IN but only OUT...probably a defective chromecast...does ur tv display HDMI from other inputs ??
Have you tried a different HDMI port?
"r" is the model year code, in alphabetical order. Mine, from 2010, is Le32c650. When did you buy yours? In the nineties, or in the future?
In the first case i can't believe that there was hdmi, and if, these issues are age related. Probably only Displays with Hdmi 1.4 up supported. That was the standard, when Hdmi, BluRay and FullHd really went off.

I ve got the same problem my samsung LE32R51B(Old one ~2003), can t cast from chromecast gen1 and gen2, i can ear sound but no image.... The problem maybe on the hdmi version early 1.3.
I am looking about answer from the forum https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chromecast/9QPojuA3lSU;context-place=forum/chromecast. But until now without solution.
Maybe if i can update my samsung LE32R51B. but i think it will be dificult to do that. try to the web support from samsung but there is no firmware availabe or way to do it
Solution from google item 6:
"If you saw your Chromecast's loading screen ("Chromecast" with a spinning Chrome logo) but the home screen is black, you could be experiencing an HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) with your TV. This issue is easily fixed by rebooting your TV. Turn your TV off, unplug it, turn everything back on and try again."
https://support.google.com/chromeca...36?hl=en&ref_topic=3447927#ts=3090411,3222434
I dont know how to reboot, but i ve turn the tv Off and unplug from the wall. and still not working.
With my newer tv, also from Samsung, it work perfectly.

Can't cast to Chromecast

I'm trying to cast my (Tab S2 9.7) screen to my Chromecast (v2). If I use the Google Cast app it sees my Chromecast, I choose the "cast screen/audio" option then get a warning that the device is not optimised, and when I continue nothing gets cast to the Chromecast - the tablet shows a "connecting to Chromecast" message which never goes away, and the TV/Chromecast screen remains blank.
If I use the Quick Connect option on the tablet it doesn't detect the Chromecast on the list of devices.
I'm running Android 6.0.1 (stock, unrooted).
Any ideas how I can cast to my Chromecast??
Google Cast works on my T810 using stock 6.0.1, so you must have a hardware problem. I'm assuming your connection to your router is OK from both your tablet and the Chromecast device because Google Cast sees the device. But to be sure, I'd re-install the Chromecast device on your network. If that fails, do you have another tablet you can use to test it? Or have you tried another HDMI port on the TV/Monitor? Or another TV? All I can say for sure is this isn't a general problem with MM on the T810 because I use it quite often.

Mine's an SM-T815. Anyone manage to Chromecast from one of these?
The Chromecast/TV setup seems fine - can cast from my phone no problem. Are you casting using the Google Cast app or the "Quick Connect" Samsung utility?

Samsung's Quick Connect connects via Bluetooth to transfer files. Google Cast connects via your wifi network and that's what I use. There is also a way to cast without a Chromecast device but I think that only works with Samsung Smart TVs.

Eh? According to this, Quick Connect uses Bluetooth OR Wifi to connect to devices including Chromecasts:

Maybe it's supposed to, but I just tried it and the only "nearby device" it found was "Samsung Cloud Print". Even with Bluetooth turned on. It doesn't even see my Desktop Computer, though it does show in my Bluetooth connections.
edit: I just had a chat with Samsung support and they are blaming Quick Connect not working on Google. Always the other guys fault.

Interesting....I tried casting to an old Chromecast v1 (in another room) and it worked fine. Then I tried casting to the Chromecast v2 again, and this time it worked. I hadn't tampered with the Chromecast v2 at all. So now it's working, but I have no idea why it wasn't working before....?????
Hi Guys, sorry to butt in here, but you may be able to help me with my new Tab S2 9.7 64G Lolipop 6.0 (I think its 6.0) that I got for my 70yo mum to play movies on her Sony 46" non smart tv with either the Google Chrome Cast or MiraCast. I purchased a few micro USB to HDMI MTH?2.0 adaptors, and non of them show an image on her screen. I don't want to go and buy the Samsung adaptor as its easier to change movies play and pause using VLC media player while sitting on the couch for her. Can any of you please tell me the easiest dongle I can buy to simply play movies wireless to the HDMI dongle in the back of the tv? Happy to go Google Chrome, but which model do I need? Thanks in advance guys!

The problem with HDMI/MHL dongles is that they are difficult to connect. Most of them will work if you have the patience to keep trying until the finally connect. But then, you are forced to leave your tablet within a few feet of the TV. I MUCH prefer a Chromecast dongle that plugs into the TV and uses your wifi to connect. Most TVs also have a USB port that you can use to power the dongle rather than having to plug a separate power adapter into a wall plug. Here is one on eBay that is only $17 whereas a "Google" branded one will cost about $40. You can even get cheaper ones if you are willing to ship from China.
The current software to mirror the tablet on the TV is "Google Home". But be warned, the picture is not "widescreen" or HD.

Absolutely go for Chromecast, the easiest and most reliable way to cast from any Android device to the TV.
Do NOT buy a cheap chromecast copy from Ebay, they do not work properly.
Pretty much everywhere is selling CHROMECAST very cheap at the moment in Black Friday promo deals.
Get it now while you can as the price will go back to normal soon!

Cant cast from Android phone to android tv

Hello, i have a couple of android tv's in my house and i tried connecting my android phone(galaxy a70, android 10) to aby of them and all that it does is showing black screen and after a couple of seconds it closes the connection.
The problem is on my phone because when i tried to connect it through my computer's chrome it worked.
I have no idea how to fix it
Thanks in advance

Smart View Not Working

Today i updated to OneUI 2.5 and the Smart View function from the notification panel doesn't find my TV anymore. It used to work before. My TV is a 2011 Series 6 one. The 32D6100 model connected via wire to internet. I tried the Smart Things app and it found it as a directly connected device but sharing things from the app is cumbersome compared to using the Smart View toggle. Can someone on OneUI 2.5 please see if it works for them?
Worked for me. Sometimes I need to restart either tv or phone or both of them to connect again. Other then that it works great. I use wireless dex if cast doesnt work.

Weird. I restarted tv and phone and nothing. Actually my phone does find something but every time it's a different random device. One time it was a LG TV, one time a Sony, then some random projector. And if i try to connect it disappears from list. I'm connected to wifi and there's only one TV that's also connected to the same internet in my home. TV doesn't support miracast as it's quite old though so i can't use wireless dex or screen mirroring on it. Smart view could only show some content from the default Samsung gallery, music and video apps. Will buy an Anycast M9 Plus dongle and hope everything works with it.
