Bad battery life on Roms - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Ever since I began flashing roms I've been having horrible battery life on them even worse than stock.... What is going on?
Sent from my HTC Raider running Sense 4.1

Are you letting the ROMs settle in and rebuild cache...
Or are you crackflashing?
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2

What does cracked flashing stand for?
Sent from my HTC Raider on the Rogers Wireless Network

Lol flashing like your on crack i presume? you gotta let it cycle a few times and settle in
Sent from my HTC Vivid 4G

I ussualy give roms a couple days
Sent from my HTC Raider on the Rogers Wireless Network

Crackflashing...
Cool... new ROM... awesome... wow... 5 mins and I lost 10% battery...
Better flash back... oh wait... another new ROM... let's try that...
WHEEEEEEEEE
thats crackflashing
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2

Lol that made me laugh x) thanks for the definition

Also, read the threads for the roms. A few of them have battery drain issues that have been extensively documented within the threads. There are several posts saying "don't use build xxxxx use build yyyyy instead". For me, battery life has been pretty good using PAC that I built myself.

My favorites are Lightwieght over on rootz, stock rom, or stockish by ess.boyer. All with Kozmik's stockish kernel. I know that I could get better battery life with Holic's and faux kernel, but the lag and stuttering bothers me.

[Q] Battery Life on ICS

is anyone else having bad battery life once they updated to stock (.56) ICS?
to me I'm getting anywhere between 2-3 hours less life out of my phone and i have larger (1800mAh) batteries.
i even take the batteries out every now and then and charge them on a wall battery charger that came with the batteries.
i have taken more measures to get better battery life and it appears that there is nothing i can do
i would get better battery life on HoliRaider with 1.6GHz OC!!!

Have you tried wiping battery stats? And doing a full battery calibration? If that even applies to this device I know it worked on my skyrocket.

It's been proven that wiping the stats doesn't do much. The skyrocket imo has better battery life than the vivid and runs on a higher mah batt.

I've tried just about everything, auto-sync off, brightness all the way down, wifi on /off, etc etc, it seems like the only way to have decent battery life is to keep data off all the time
one feature that i do miss from GB is you had the option of having "on demand data"..
however i do wish that at&t would go ahead and give us the option of having an LTE on/off switch.... yes i live in one of the cities blessed with LTE but it really takes a tole on your battery even when its in your pocket not being used

Did you try faux123's new kernel?
Its a true dual core kernel... what I understand... that might help

i still haven't rooted my phone (again) since ICS was released, will it work with RumFloat and/or just rooted no rom?

Would you do it again.

So i am an atrix 2 who is within my 30 day period and thinking about returning my phone for the vivid (can't afford a one x). I am wanting to know if any of you regret your choice in getting the vivid and if there are any cons that I should know about before jumping in.
Sent from my MB865 using XDA
The Vivid is way better than the Atrix 2, I have had it before. Plus the vivid is running ICS, big plus. I would advise going to an at&t store and trying it out. But I would make the switch if it was me.

No regrets, but had I known better, I would have waited for the One X.

I would say battery is better, due to ics and sense. I myself am going to get the One X in the next few days, I am within my 30 days and I got some extra cash.

The Vivid is my first Android phone. I did a lot of research about Android phones, before i decided on the Vivid. Since i'm an AT&T customer(long time), the choice was clear.I would definitely get another Vivid, if mine were lost or stolen.

I very well may return the Atrix 2 and continue to use my Inspire until the price of the One X comes down a little bit. Still undecided at this point.
I have both Atrix 2 (work phone) and Vivid (personal phone).
Personally, I prefer Vivid, no questions asked!
I love the clarity of the Atrix 2's screen.
The Vivids screen is really clear, and vivid, lol.

I would never get the Vivid again. It's a good phone but the battery life is just horrible. If you don't care about that, get it.
I have my other line upgrade-ready but still won't get the one x. My Vivid with the 3400 mah extended battery kiks the One's @ss, plus I need my sdcard. If this Vivid gets broken or stolen I will definitely get another one.

If you still have the Vivid and still having issues with the battery life with various ROMs, you could check out WildChild's latest ROM as he somehow has really extended the battery life. I am currently THOROUGHLY impressed as I haven't had the need to reach for my back up batteries.

Thanks for that. I haven't tried that ROM. I will probably take a look today.
i love my vivid i have 2 one as a backup and 1 for personal use i would recommend getting the black one phone is great, i would highly recommend unlocking the bootloader and using Holic's rom Have fun with your vivid!
if I had the opportunity to swap this phone for another, I would, but I don't know what handset I would go for, ultimately this device has everything I want out of a device, physically I hate the battery cover as I am constantly pulling it off whilst getting the phone out of my pocket, and it slips up infront of the camera lense inside cases all the time.
After this device I'm pretty sure that I am done with HTC, I'll probably look at a samsung offering next time, maybe even the next Nexus.

Thought HTC said Sense 4.0 couldnt be on Incredible S?

So I was on HTC's website today just looking, then I saw they had another phone coming out. Desire C. Looked at the specs here http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_c-4759.php HTC didnt have it on their website yet. When we get our update rolled out it is only coming with Sense 3.6 because they said our specs were too low. But when you look at the Desire C specs they are worse than the Incredible s and its getting sense 4.0.
Desire C specs
600mhz processor
512mb RAM
Incredible S
1GHZ processor
768mb RAM
Why is HTC holding out on us!!!!!
Im running NIKHIL007's Project X and its awesome!! cant understand why HTC wouldnt be able to have sense 4.0 included.
Are their developers not as good as the guys here on XDA?
Giving us the latest version of sense would kind of defeat the purpose of buying a new phone
They would be shooting themselves in the foot so to speak

True enough. But I dont go and buy a phone based on if it has the latest software. I would buy a new phone based if it has better specs. They should be keeping their current users happy no?
This phone's old now. They want people to ditch it and go pick up the latest HTC phones. Hence why they brought the one series out.

They call it the One Series because there'll only be one.

But there isn't one. There's v,x,s,xl. Hence why they want each HTC customer to update to one of those. There's one for each price bracket etc.

Just think its stupid is all. They bring the update out but can't include the newest software . It's the last update for our phone. The one series will have a few more. Well at least one.

2 words; Project X. It's a brilliant rom with sense 4.
As said, the manufacturers aren't going to update forever as people wouldn't buy new phones!
We're all waiting for nik's new sense 4 rom, project x transformer. It'll revolutionize the inc s industry. The virtuous infinity is a one s based rom too, just that it's a little bit oversized (no hate).

Sorry, but... what's it with sense4 that makes it so special? (I know it is ICS, but except for that)
I think they all kinda looks the same after 3.0...
And I haven't used sense since over a year ago, so haven't really bothered with all different sense versions

For me its the whole user interface. I have been one to love sense since it came out. Loved it when I had a windows phone and still love it with android. Ive tried other UIs but still like sense way more. i like the look of sense 4.0 just some minor differences and big differences between 3 and 4.
But yes I cant wait till NIK releases Project X Transformer. Since he started making ROMs Ive been with his work since, only reason I am staying with my Incredible S

I could last the whole day on niks prj X Rom with 3g with moderate to heavy usage. 10 percent drain overnight at the most?
ARHD GB and Trinity also gave me excellent battery.
Icecold and CM7 continued to deplete my battery even when on standby. Can't last a day with icecold!

12hours with 3G, data and wifi on all the time and I've got 57% left.
Overclocked to 1.3GHz and I've been using my phone quite a lot. And I'm on ice cold
When idle it drains <1%/hour for me.
Anyway, seems like Sense roms have decent battery life
Now I'm gonna stop hijacking this thread.

These phones may be old compared to the One Series etc but at least they had removable batteries, full size sims and better memory options....I love the One X but the lack of removable battery put me off so I went for the Galaxy S3 which is proving to be fairly good.

Battery issue?

Every time I charge up my phone its gets to 96 percent stays there for a bit then jumps straight to 100 percent. This happens on both custom ROMs and stock ROMs. Should I be concerned?

Mine does this at times too.. after a random reboot from 23% it will jump to 55% I believe from not calibrating the battery.
Even after calibrating it still does this

According to what I've read...
After a number of charge cycles... 500... comes to mind...
your li-on battery starts to deteriorate... eventually settling at about 80% of its total charge...
That's the big deal with the nex4 battery... its some polymer that's good for like 800 charge cycles...

So what your saying is I should buy a new battery?

I dunno... if the little bit of loss is important?
It might fix your problem?
I was just sharing what I read...
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2
You might also be able to use better battery stats and fix a wake lock issue...
Or it could also have to do with the way android charges the battery to keep from overcharging...
I don't really mind it so I'll stick with my battery for probably another year then get another one

SG2 Skyrocket Just got JB

HTC can really suck at times... It's pretty amazing how apparently the only ones who don't get why they are doing so poorly is them. Whereas I actually do like HTC especially for their build quality and (gasp) sense, they've really pushed me away. The only thing I give them is that the Vivid was the first nonnexus device to receive an ICS update if I remember correctly, but I don't consider that enough.
As soon as my contract is up plus when the next nexus hopefully with LTE comes out, I'm off to non contract devices from now on and switching to t-mobile to lower my family plan monthly bill by $100. Not even my unlimited data plan is enough to keep me on AT&T.

It's all in your signals and screen and app control. I have had two captivates and a GS3, never got to play with GS2 yet but I can't get any other phone to get near the battery life of my HTC vivid. This is the reason that HTC is losing sales because consumers are buying HTC products to find out that firmware support isn't the best. The S2 is older than the Vivid and is still having a new version of Android. So the next time the person wants to buy a phone they most likely will go for sanother manufacter. If HTC wants to makes there sales beter they should start supporting there older devices a bit more.
HTC always abandons their previous devices and focuses on the new ones. I can't help but wonder if the dna and one series phones are going to get a 4.1.2 update with sense 5.
HTC basically keeps trying to reinvent themselves and cuts their losses with their previous failed products. Problem is every time they do this they are loosing customers. Samsung has gotten pretty good with updates, really they always were. Yeah it took me forever to get froyo and gingerbread on my Captivate, but that was mainly because of carrier testing that slowed it down.
