Check in samfirmware.com for the latest version of your rom.
You can download that and flash it via odin to upgrade. Do not wipe while on stock ics kernel.

If you are on unrooted stock rom check for software update in about device in setting.

Depends on your current firmware.
But as stated above, you can choose to flash a rom through odin/cwm.
Otherwise you can only wait... and wait.... and..............wait

Important: DON'T WIPE if you're still on stock ICS kernel.

Yes just keep waiting, youll receive 4.0.4 soon enough

OTA packages are not installing on my galaxy note now

Hi!
I was on ics 4.0.3 than i further updated to 4.0.4.after few days i flashed xxkka and flashed cm9 on my note.
Now again when i performed clean installation on my phone and flashed stock gb rom than ics rom now it download ota file and starts installing in recovery but phone reboots in between and a notification says software update failed.
I have tried samfirmware for the latest rom but the rom zip file is not unzipping says crc failed.

You just have a bad download.. Retry

Go to setting - application -all -software update
clear data for that
You may get update again
Though best way is download full ROM and flash with Odin, if doesn't success with above method.
ota
knows anyone what is the ota update?
@dr Ketan:its not working now i m on ddlpa can i flash ddlr9 ota via samfirmware 85mb file??

updates thru OTA are most often (than not) not reliable especially if you have an intermittent internet connection. It's best you may need to just update it thru PC kies. That's much more safe and reliable in my vocabulary.

First you have to find out how to update ota manually, somewhere in read one user have flashed it
But again this will not work, b'coz you need base as lr6 and you are on la6.
Best way flash full rom kies /odin watever suit you best
I always prefer odin.

Official JB is not yet released by Samsung. There are TW leaks in Dev Forum, try it out. IMHO Official CM 10.1 is the best.
I hope you are aware of the super-brick bug.

Well,
Samsung has published the service
manual for the Android 4.1.2 Jelly
Bean update on its own website
recently , where this update is
tipped to arrive either this month
at best, or in February. In fact, this
time frame would also be when the
Samsung Galaxy S2 picks up the
Jelly Bean update, too.

there is for different csc, regionalization means no worldwide update of same possible.
root phone (warrantee void)
backup efs on and off phone,
backup pictures/movies, rest sync with gmail.
install mobile odin,
flash safe kernel
reboot recovery
wipe everything, including dalvik,
format everything (take out sd card before) except efs
reboot download mode
flash via pc odin the jb out there
dont like it, follow same steps but with original rom flash. Restore original rom for your csc, via pc odin, root, safe kernel again, restore efs, reboot, flash original zimage from original rom without root option, uninstall mobile odin voila.
all own risk. do on safe kernel always
ps never restore apps or data for best experience.

[Q] How to update to official Jelly Bean

My Dad has the original unlocked Note, and I'm wondering how I can update to the official Jelly Bean without rooting or voiding warranty, as it isn't showing up in the OTA menu.
Open Samsung kies and Let it download the update or go to settings and update via OTA
Let me know if you have issues with this we will walk you through it
I've tried updating via both Kies and in About Phone, both places say that it's the most recent firmware available.
OK you are on a version that hasn't received the OTA yet.
You will have to install it via PC Odin.
Go to Dr.ketan's sticky thread for step by step instructions.

Help restoring to Stock ROM

Hey guys I'm trying to help restore my uncle's phone back to stock but I'm not sure what I should be using to flash over it. Right now it's running Slim Bean 4.2.2 (Build 8). He bought this phone second hand so I'm not sure where this phone is from originally.
The baseband says N7000XXLR1 and I couldn't find that anywhere, would I be able to just flash the official XXLT9 4.1.2 firmware over it using Odin?
You can flash any rom you like, but might be better to stick with one for your region.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You will need to do data wipe. Do it while you have Cwm recovery. And then boot into download mode and flash the stock rom. This may save you a factory reset after flashing.
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
Alright thanks guys. So to clarify I can flash any of the official 4.1.2 firmware and it should work fine (I won't have to worry about the baseband)? I was planning on flashing the unbranded stock rom I found here.
Yes u can flash the unbranded rom
Its latest xxlt9
N its unbranded u don't have to bother for baseband..
U can flash n go on..
