For the past 5 hours I have been trying to install P.A.C. MAN 19.0.0 and MIUI V4 for the ICS Bootloader to no avail. I have tried flashing/wiping multiple times to get these ROMS to work, each time with the same outcome. The issue I'm having is my phone keeps getting stuck at the boot logo (the Unlocked LG padlock logo.) I have repeatedly tried wiping Data/Cache/Dalvik Cache like the instructions said. If anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong it would be a great help, I decided to switch to these ROMS after using the TG V30A ICS ROM. I am using an LG P990 and I am on the ICS Bootloader (not the old GB one.)
Thanks.
Use aio tools and nvflash the ics new partition, it is in number 4 in selection, the padlock logo is the old ics bootloader, the new ics bootloader is have a pink logo

if you've flashed the new ICS bootloader correctly, you'll have to follow this thread (which allows you to flash CM10 based roms on new bootloader - like PACman and new MIUI):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058231
the only part that applies to you is "coming from ICS unlocked bootloader"
1. you'll have to flash the special recovery (it enables CM10/new bootloader compatibility)
2. then, instead of flashing CM10, just flash PACman rom
*Make sure you flash rugglez' ICS kernel which adds the wifi drain fix, and BSOD fix, unless it's already integrated into the new PACman version!*:

Hi guys, thanks for the replies but after about 7 hours of trial and error I finally managed to fix this.
If, there are any "noobs" out there like me that have these issues, just do what I did below and this should help.
So after several hours of scouring the internet and XDA forums with the hopes of reviving my phone, flashing several ROMS and CWM versions which caused compatibility issues with the ROM I had previously used, and nearly losing my sanity, I had stumbled upon this. So I logged on to my old Win7 laptop (thanks Microsoft, for making Win8 users reboot to install unsigned drivers) with APX drivers and loaded up the program. I flashed a newer version of the ICS bootloader (even though I was already on the ICS Partition layout) and the latest version of CWM. These fixed my compatibility issues and allowed me to flash ROMS again, hurray!
If it isn't too much trouble, could a moderator close this thread since leaving it open is no longer necessary?
And People Please read the instructions before installing (If Provided) .

Hello friends of the Optimus Black.
[Introduction]
Today i started the first time flashing and android phone. Before i modiefied & flashed firmwares of serveral AVM fritzbox devices to get more features. I use linux as my everyday OS, but installed Win7 because it seems to be easier when working with android devices.
[Problem]
My LG OB stucks at the bootscreen (flying rocket) after i installed the jellybam_p970.NIGHTLY_20121215.zip and gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip.
I have used theese instructions:
[HOW TO]The Big N00B how-to! and [ROM 4.1.2 - 4.2] JELLYBAM [15/12] [Nightlies] [P970] [PA.AOKP.CM10] [ATOMIC] .
I do know how to handle the SmartFlash Tool to get bricked phone back to live.
One problem is, that iam not shure, if the used nightly rom is corrupt or if i may have used the wrong gaps file. I had to opent this thread, because iam not allowed to post in the developer section (which might be good, if the rom is corrupt)
Another problem is, that it id like to avoid a further unbricking-process with smarttool, just because it takes so much time to:
1. unbrick
2. turn on usb-debug
3. use blackjack to root
4. connect to wifi
5. register at google
6. install rom manager app
7. backup
8. factory reset (wipe)
9. flash
Is it possible to take a shortcut?
Many thanks for your help guys.

Hopefully, there is faster way ! After more than 20-30 bricks i get bored with similar process to yours ;p
You just need to use THIS tool to convert your favourite stock firmware to smartflash format and patch it with CWM (recovery). Then, after flashing this converted firmware using SFT your phone will automatically reboot into recovery and you will be able to flash any ROM without rooting, installing cwm etc.
I don't remember exactly, but this tool should only work with v10-v20 firmware, so just download one from HERE from your country (or just with well working baseband) and let's simplify your life !
I have modified one. Many thanks for this tip. I will test it the next time the device bricks.
Do you know if i used the correct gapps file? I tried Version 10.
EDIT
[Problem solved]
After flashing an earlier nightly buld (14th of december) and the CM10 gapp file the OS starts.
Thanks for your help

I've searched a few forums and can't find an answer for my question. I've read that you cannot go to an older version of a rom if you are attempthing to use the fastboot files. Is this true? Can anyone link instructions for going from a rooted 4.2.2 CM10.1 to stock JB from verizon.
I've had worsening problems with my phone through my last few rom changes and I would like to return to stock to see if I should take my phone to verizon for a replacement (the moment I slide the phone open it freezes and the keyboard does not work plus a bunch of freezes requiring hard resets). Phone is running so slow.
Anyways, I would really appreciate a link to some instructions or a quick how to guide as I've used rsdlite, update motorola drivers, fastboot mode, etc before.
Thanks so much guys!!!!!
Safestrap installed CM10.1 is not a newer version of your system technically because it can't modify your bootloader or kernel, it has to use kexec to init a 2nd kernel boot.....so your stock kernel/bootloader are still based on your ICS system.
You can just flash the JB fastboot files and be on JB. You'll need to re-root the device though......and older root methods don't work you you'll need to use the razr_blade script by drjbliss
Hello guys,
I'm hoping to get some help here, since I've lost 2 days trying to flash my phone with a custom ROM.
The phone was running Official Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich V30A, and I did the following in order to flash it:
After unsuccessful rooting attempts with SuperOneClick (stuck at step 7) I found another way, using nvflash, following these instructions. Somehow I thought I need to unlock the bootloader first, in order to root the phone, so I did that first. After that, I rooted my phone with SuperSU Root as described in this tutorial, and also installed CWM.
I thought that I was ready for the flashing part, and downloaded a custom ROM along with the right GAPPS, and followed the instructions carefully.
First few attempts I got stuck at the beginning of rom flashing process, than I found a solution, where I needed to delete the first line in the META-INF\com\google\updater-script file, then the flashing came trough, but somehow to quick I thought.
After everything was wiped/cleaned/flashed I click on “reboot system now” after which the phone should reboot into the new rom, but nothing happens, the phone acts "dead", it won't turn on, or boot into recovery mod. I was sure that I've bricked my phone, but luckily I was able to get it back on using the APX method with nvflash and boot flash.
But then the phone starts with the official ICS 4.0.4, as if nothing was flashed.
After another day of searching for a solution, I've found out that there are different partitions for different rom's, than I realized that I was trying to flash
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on LG Optimus 2X via Avatar Custom ROM
LG Optimus 2X P990 to Android 4.2.1 CM10.1 Jelly Bean Nightly
Jelly Bean on a ICS device wich logicaly should run on a different partition, so I downloaded a ICS based ROM EAGLESBLOOD™ ICS "AOSP" 4.0.4_r2.1 and got the same issue when flashing, where I had to delete the first line in META-INF\com\google\updater-script, but than the flashing process went trough and seemed more genuine than before as it took longer to finish, so I was happy for a moment, and rebooted the device, and voila nothing...he's deaaaad again.
Can someone please help me to find out where the problem lies.
Thanks for any help, I hope someone takes the time to read this.
No one here to help...
Finally I've managed to install TWRP over CWM with AIO Tollkit, to see if the problem was with CWM.
The flashing process/time seemed similar, but the phone actually booted this time, but not into the new "flashed" custom ROM, but into the old stock one which should be wiped/deleted...
Dont worry too much....
Just use the All In One Tool Kit by spyrosk.....just wipe everything....as I suspect that all your partitions have been disturbed.....for the link for this tool, check my signature
Flash the one from JellyCream.... (it is new bootloader ROM on the dev section) or if you want the 4.3 based CM ROM, then find the one from tonyp....
You will loose the data on the Internal SD card....if you have a backup on the external, then restore form it....
Edit: Eaglesblood ROM is not supported by the developers as far as I know....
Finally
Thank you for replying/helping :good:
As it seems, it was a bootloader issue (ord/new). My phone has the new one, and I thought that the ROMs I've downloaded
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on LG Optimus 2X via Avatar Custom ROM
LG Optimus 2X P990 to Android 4.2.1 CM10.1 Jelly Bean Nightly
EAGLESBLOOD™ ICS "AOSP" 4.0.4_r2.1
would run with the newBL, since they ware recently updated or made, and there was no clear info about the boot loader version.
Now after 3-4 Days of struggling, I've tried a ROM which is made and clearly stated for the newBL,ParanoidAndroid v2.6 "p990-2.6-14-newbl-tonyp.zip" and flashed it without any problems. I didn't have to wipe the whole internal storage with AIO Toolkit, I've followed the usual flashing procedure.:victory::laugh::good: the new rom looks awesome. I hope that I won't have any lock screen or random reboot issues, like before.
Now I'm gonna help a guy, who has the same problem.
I have an AT&T (US) phone - rooted, with CM7 for LG Optimus 3D (P920 instead of P925) running on it - apparently the LG Thrill CM7 ROM doesn't work if you'd previously upgraded to AT&T's official Gingerbread ROM.
Now, the CM7 ROM for P920 has a major echo issue - I cannot talk on conference calls at all without an echo. Also, mute doesn't seem to work.
I'd like to go to a better ROM, or even to stock - but I didn't make a backup (yes, really really stupid of me). I've tried the stock Gingerbread ROM on AcidHazard's site (provided to go back to stock) - that seems to work, but most text is missing - font problem maybe, but I don't know how to fix it.
I've tried the Biohazard ROM itself, and it never booted.
Apparently CM10 milestone/nightly for the Optimus should work on my LG Thrill, but before I do so - has anyone tried this? With what results? Alternately, any other ROM I can try?
I've not been able to upgrade to ICS using the LG support tool - hangs at 4% and all workarounds listed on the internet don't work for me. I do have the official kdz file - backed it up when the LG tool downloaded it - but the LG flash tool isn't able to detect my phone.
I know - this question is asked lots, and I feel stupid asking it - but I've tried most everything that google search threw up, without success. I still have clockworkmod recovery installed, so I can copy ROMs to my sdcard and flash them. Suggestions, please?!
For v28B ICS with root and custom recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39269819
Just don't install the custom ROM and you will have v28B.

The first line in that guide says I need to be on ICS already - I am on gingerbread (or am I misunderstanding something?).
That line is there so people don't skip from GB to installing the custom ROM in recovery (that would give you a brick). The guide tells how update to ICS first.
I'll try out those steps, though the virus check disabling sets off too many alarm bells.
Before I do that really long procedure though, any other ROMs that people have good experience with?

I mainly put that because Defender was deleting the driver file without my knowledge and it was corrupting LG Flash Tool for some people.
Question: the kdz tool says phone not found. Is that the same issue the webserver and 127.0.0.1 address, or am I looking at some other issue before the HTTP issue?

Hello, i just bought an LG Optimus x2 and i'm trying to get CM10.1 (at least) inside of it.
the thing is, this phone came with what seems to be a custom firmware and bootloader. At bootup it says vtr.com which seems to be a chilean provider. (i'm in Uruguay....) Just bought it new... cant understand why this came like that.
If i try to put clockworkmod, i'm suppossed to do it on a rooted phone.
If i try to root the phone, everywhere says i need to access CWM...
I'm deeply confused.
This pone has not a menu when booting into recovery mode, it just says "firmware update, wait until update finished" i can't choose any file from SD external nor internal.
I have tried several tutorials, using nvflash, using superoneclick... Nothing works.
BTW, i have smartflash just in case i cant put CM10.1 so i tought about putting the official ICS rom, but i dont want to use it, i want cyanogenmod.
Would be a way to achieve what i want to put ICS, then root, then put clockworkmod, then go back to gingerbread and then put cyanogenmod?
Plz help, and thanks for your time.
A lot of ROM-choices
No problem:
1. Sounds to me you have to do a full wipe and start from scratch. The AIO-tool is perfectly suited for this: see AIO option 4. - it will wipe and repartition your phone, install bootloader and root your phone at once (and it can do a lot more).
2. Before wipe, please think about what bootloader (bl) you want: in general old bl is for the older gingerbread-based ROMs, new bl is for most newest ROMs (although some also run on old bl).
3. Then think about what ROM you want. ROM choice is very personal. You could experiment. Just remember to make backups along the way. With the AIO-tool you can even choose Dual Boot for enabling easy-switching between two ROMs (as long they are on the same bl). LG-ROMs are generally not considered best (although some disagree).
3a. I have been running CM7.2 with ETaNa 2.6.32.y kernel (requires old bl) for a long time and was very happy.
But this is an old ROM. If you want to have a newer there are several possibilities (which in general require new bl). I have been very happy with 3b and 3c.
3b. Currently, I am on Pengus77's Look Ma No Hands which is based on CM10 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It is fast and responsive, has low battery consumption and all features (like BT, HDMI) work.
3c. tonyp's CM10.1 (JellyBean) is fast and responsive too and most features (BT yes, but HDMI no) work.
3c. If you want tonyp's latest, try theROM is based on CM10.2 (newer optimised JellyBean). So it got the latest Android stuff, but is experimental (it is not made for our somewhat outdated phone) and some features (BT & HDMI no) do not work (I have not tried this ROM), but
3d. there are a lot of other good ROMs out there. Check the list here.
4. ICS and JB ROMs require different kernels. All ROMs come with required kernels, but these get updated too. I use Kowalski Kernel M1 and flash most updates.
5. After flashing and stabilising the ROM, you can overclock the cpu with eg. Cpu Adjuster. I have have overclocked to 1404MHz, but even 1500MHz is considered safe.
6. The p990 does not have much RAM, so you could consider using Greenify to freeze non-essential apps (eg. facebook/maps/...) which consume memory in standby. Please note, dedicated notifications will not work.
7. After finding the best setup for you, please consider to donate to related devs.
8. Be careful not to become a real flashoholic
Good luck!
PS 5. and 6. might not work on gingerbread-based ROMs
Awesome reply man! Just my 2 cents... CM10 is based on Jellybean too. In fact, it's a 4.1.2 incarnation, while Ice Cream Sandwich was/is 4.0.X. Google kept the jb name from 4.1 to 4.3 because all the updates weren't that major
Ok, thanks pals for your answers, i had some doubts about versions but oneearleft cleared them.
Finally i installed nightly 10.2 Cyanogenmod, had to make a couple of full wipes via reflashing, there was a method to do it wich buttons but didn't work.
Finally i flashed latest LG rom, then i could put CWM and after that Cyanogenmod. If i'm not too crazy, i did all using AIO-Tool.
Sorry if i cant be a bit clearer, but i finished 4AM and with a half bottle of booze inside, so i really cant remember much.
Thanks again.
EDIT: Also, CM10.2 (4.2.2) has BT working, Still could not try HDMI.
EDIT2: I forgot, (booze) at one point, when i installed an official LG-rom for a random provider (Claro-CTI) after a reboot, i saw the "android" android and the phone went to an infinite reboot loop.
That's why i flashed the official ICS rom from LG. This took out the odd botloader and put the nice LG logo with a crisp animation. (vtr.com one was awful and frozed)
Then after that i could flash cyanogenmod with the bootloader that rom brought.
Fyi the roms don't replace the bootloader. Being a tegra device, the bl has to be flashed as a separate step via nflash.
I dont know how it happened or why, i just saw the android and the device became looper. After that, i could reflash it.
I'm really confused about what happened but i have reflashed it several times, i tested CM7.1, CM10.1, 10.2 and i'm about to put P.A.C.man.
My main interest was to be more used to the flashing methods, bootloader and such. (i really knew/know nothing)
Now i'm about to find if i have the new or old bootloader so i can install PACman.
Wish me luck.
Ok now... This cellphone is awesome, sadly the only stable are way too old.
So, ¿Is anywhere a CM9 for this phone? I would love to keep cyanogenmod with it's own appearance and tools but without loosing HDMI, WiFi tether, BT and good battery life.
I've searching for it, but could'nt find.
Thanks.
