Fixing Data > WiFi transition and other radio problems - LG Optimus 2x

All credits of this solution go to user dcseek who brought us the solution for this incredible annoying bug on our phones. It's not a bug actually. I think we should blame ourselfs, because it went all wrong when flashing a baseband. Personally I think it goes wrong when flashing a baseband fails and you have to try it again (yup, smartflash) or when flashing a korean baseband.
I decided to make a thread in the Q&A section, BUT BE CAREFUL!!! this is serious business, but concerning how many noobs are facing this bug (like me), it's worth to fix it.
Before you continue, all data will be wiped! Make sure to backup anything you need!!! Including Internal SD!!!
I am NOT responsible for any damage you possible create. I don't think you can brick your phone because our phone seems to be unbrickable, but I do not want to be blamed for any damage. I just made a guide on which I spent some of my free time to make it easier. I saw a lot of questions regarding hyperterminal. All I can say is: it's quiet easy!
Q: What's the problem?
A: Data connection won't be established after let's say beïng 20 minutes or more on wifi. Airplane on/off or rebooting is the only way to fix... There are also other problems related tot this fix. No guarantee, but connection losses etc. can be fixed with this!
Q: What causes this problem?
Two possible reasons, both are beïng fixed with this procedure:
A1) imei is totally lost or reset to something like 356200000000000 Check your imei by calling *#06#
A2) Some old calibration data in the radio will cause an unknown network state, which is actually edge (the fastest GSM connection). Old radio calibration data needs to be cleared.
Q: Are there other concequences?
A1: Yes, edge won't work, so everytime edge is requested, you will get a signal drop. I'm not sure but it seems like signal loss is caused by this
A2: 3g battery drain! Radio is sending a lot of data to the provider, I logged it and I saw many old useless data passing.
How do you do it?
First you will need a stock based rom. I recommend Stefan's unbrick rom, because you can flash it over every setup. You don't have to think about what you have right now, wether you've ICS, GB, CM, Stock, it doesn't matter. It's also a very easy one-click installation.
Download here It's a customized stock rom with a lot of nice upgrades and features, but the most important thing for this tutorial is to have a rom which everyone can flash with a few clicks and also contains the hidden menu from LG.
How to install?
Unpack rom
- Unpack Stefan's 7z file with 7zip or your favourite unzipper.
- 7zip is free, click
Prepare Phone
-Power down phone
-Remove battery
-Hold VOL_DWN+VOL_UP & plug in USB connection from computer (note, your phone will not visibly respond but it will boot to APX mode quickly)
-Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error, or not if you have used NVFlash before
-Right click on the APX device
-Select 'Update driver software'
-Select 'Browse my computer...'
-Select 'Let me pick...'
-Select 'Have disk'
-Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to above (It's included in Stefan's zip)
-Select 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'
-Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC)
-Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat
Install the rom:
- Go to the folder where you unpacked Stefans rom
- Run Windows installer and follow instructions on screen, should be peace of cake for everyone!
- DONE
Now you've got a stock rom, it's time to flash your favorite baseband. Thanks to TonyP, there is a special topic about basebands. Please do not discuss here which one to choose.
TonyP's baseband tread
Flash it like normal, except for checking Erase CAL data. This time you have to enable the checkbox:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If you get an error near the end, please see TonyP's topic how to solve! Or try 10 times like me, then it works too.
Congratulations! If your imei wasn't lost yet, it is now Now we have to restore it.
Step one - download Hyperterminal:
Download free trial, works perfectly on win7 x64 and more: click
Step two - connect phone in the right way
Boot the stock rom, you can cancel setup wizzards if you want. It's not important. Go to phone and call 1809#*990# when you have an old stock rom and call 3845#*990# when you have an ICS stock rom. Thats the hidden menu. Go to port settings and select CP USB (which is Com Port USB). Just click OK without clicking the checkbox to set it on boot. Connect USB cable and wait for your PC to install the drivers.
If all goes well, go to device manager (right click computer > properties > device manager somewere over there)
Note that in my case, it's com6. In your case it could be different. Write down which com port says LGE mobile USB serial port.
Step three - configure the program:
It's easy. Start as admin. Just cancel all the phone and location setup's until you get a blank terminal screen.
Click cancel in this window:
Then click yes to continue cancelling in the popup. Then the following window will appear. Click cancel too:
Now you should see a blank window. Click in it somewhere. A new window appears where you can choose the right com port. Choose the right one, which we got from the previous step. Note that it's probably just 'com x' and NOT LGE xxx xxx (that one sounds more logic but that's another port).
Click properties and select the right options like these:
Click ok twice and you if you did it right, you see this window with the state 'connected' in the lower left corner:
Type 'AT' (without the quotes) and hit enter. Wait for response. If response is 'OK' then you did a good job! Continue to the next step. If you don't see OK try another com port until you see OK.
Now I don't have any screenshots left. But now it's peace of cake.
Type: at%imei [hit enter]
Result is your current imei. You can check it.
Now, you have to write your own imei back with the following command (imei is on a sticker under the battery):

Just type that, like 'at%imei=123456789012345' (without quotes) and hit enter. You should get a message that your imei is written with succes. Close hyperterminal and reboot your phone.
Check your imei by calling *#06#
It should be the whole number without stripes and dashes.
After this procedure, just flash your own favourite rom back. You can do this as many times as you want. Don't be affraid to damage anything, allthough this procedure is at your own risk.

Gd job x_justin mate it will definitely benefit lots of ppl. Awesome!!

Tnx mate! If there are any things unclear, just tell me.

well done

thanks this seems to have done the trick, I thought it was an ics/jb on p990 problem

Aaaaaaand your thread has been added to my Baseband thread. :good:
I'm sure this will help some people to follow the procedure.
I'd love to see a couple logcat lines added which are typical for this problem.

Thanks, I updated the installation progress. Now Stefan's unbrick rom is recommended and installation instructions are included.
If someone plans to run this tutorial, please tell me if something is wrong with one of the steps.

Double post, never mind

ive often wondered about this you mentioned.
i have it go 3g for a split second then revert to H all the time. sometimes just unlocking my fone and watching it do it 3-4 times. with nothing active.. =/
hope this fix's my terrible battery life and radio drain.
thanks for your hard work.

I did this and it didn't work for my phone...
Every time it looses 3g it doesn't switch to edge, and if I ask it to go to edge it doesn't finds it. ..
I must reset my phone to get edge connection which I rarely lose...
Will my problem be related to something else?
I do have a p990 but done in Korea sold in Europe

it does say in the instructions you won't be able to get an edge connection after the fix. As the signal around here is always 3g or hspa it worked like a treat.

Re: Fixing Data > WiFi transition and other radio problems
Ok it is working now!!!!
I almost never loose signal and can paas from 3g to edge!!!
Basically I inactivated the 3g for 1 day and le my phone run on edge... then I turned on the 3g And magic!!!
Now my phone changes to edge automatically when I am in the metro, etc.
Mwahhahaha by the way I am on v30b for baseband and original Rom.
I also love my battery life

Recommended test procedure to verify if it is a bug with your setup or the rom
1. Boot into recovery, make backup of your rom
2. Format all your phone partitions
3. Install latest ROM-version
4. Don't install any apps (unless you have 1 app that has the problem)
5. Test to see if you have the same problem
6. Check with Desire HD or this thread to see if others continue to have your problem
7. Report it if you see no one else has your problem

Stuck on bootscreen after ROM-install
If you are S-ON you will have to flash the boot.img yourself via PC using ADB:
1. How to setup ADB
2. Place boot.img in ADB-folder
3. Boot phone into bootloader and choose fastboot
4. Open cmd and when in ADB-folder type "fastboot flash boot boot.img").
For S-OFF try either to flash the kernel manually with recovery or try another kernel.
If that does not solve the boot-problem it can be the ROM-file that is corrupt, try to download it again, best from a PC and get access to your SD-card with recovery, then install ROM again.
Phone frozen, save a battery pull
Instead of pulling battery each time you can press volume up+down and power to make a soft reboot.

ROM boots fine, but I can't turn on WiFi
For S-ON users you will have to manually push the bcm4329.ko, read about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1549480

From what I can hear an see you have posted this problem in many threads making it hard for me and you to know if you still have the same problem or if problem is different but same result.
I wasn't sure anybody was using this post anymore but with the JellyBean and a new round of debugging it seems the use for it rises again.
I updated with a few solutions from Codename Android, but I need all eyes and ears to report from the other roms.
You have a solution to something? Make a reply here and provide: Problem, Solution and who solved it.
Do you have something you want help with? Make a reply here and provide: ROM name, ROM version, S-ON/OFF and don't save on the details.

OPTUS MMS PROBLEMS ON AOKP/AOSP/CM ROM's
Most of the thanks for the information in this thread needs to go to the Bearded Doom and others from various threads relating to AOKP/AOSP ROM's.
It is a brief set of instructions that will hopefully allow Optus AU subscribers to send and receive MMS messages with minimal problems.
The first section is the initial setup. You need to modify your MMS APN and your message application.
Open APN’s.
Open your Optus MMS APN.
Change APN Type (near the bottom) from ‘mms’ to blank.
Save APN and exit.
Open Message application.
Open settings
Change Multi Media setting for Automatic download to be off.
Save and exit.
Thats it. Now you need to decide what you do more off. Do you use your data connection or receive MMS messages predominantly.
If, like me, you use data more often than receiving/sending MMS’s have the Optus Internet APN selected.
When you receive a MMS message you go into APN’s, select the Optus MMS APN and back out. I go into flight mode wait 15 or 30 seconds and then deselect flight mode forcing your phone to connect back up in MMS mode. Open your message and select Download and you should shortly receive the file.
Occasionally I have had a slight hiccup between downloading multiple MMS files and need to go into Flight mode and back out to give it a hurry up. But having used this method for the past 3 months I am finally able to get MMS’s.
Now do the reverse of above to select your Data connection.
If you rarely use Data then have your Optus MMS APN selected and if wanting to use data go into APN’s, select the Optus Internet APN and back out. I go into flight mode wait 15 or 30 seconds and then deselect flight mode forcing your phone to connect back up in data mode. Download files, use data etc.
Now do the reverse of above to select your MMS connection.

Just to quickly answer your question properly. Here is how I did it. There might be other ways, but this one worked quite well for me:
Connect your phone with usb debugging enabled and make sure it's well connected:
adb devices #You should see some number now.
adb shell
make sure you got superuser rights:
su
a # will appear
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/sdcard/nvram.img #or whatever you wanna call the backed up .img file.
then exit the shell
then type:
adb pull /sdcard/nvram.img #or whatever you called the backup img
you ll find it in your adb folder then. Make sure you keep it safe
*Important commands are in RED. Maybe I missed something, so if you have problems, just tell me. But that should be pretty much it.
Of course you need adb set up, for this to work. There is a small package in my Noob-HOW-TO and you can also find A LOT of tutorials all over xda about adb.

RESTORE IMEI
Now we proceed to restore IMEI. We need to know the IMEI is having our phone, so you can look at the back of the mobile phone or on the invoice.
Connect your phone to your PC via USB. (only necessary that is on)
Introducing 3845#*970# on the dialer.
Select Port settings -> Select USB CP / In 2.3.4 select AP CP USB -> USB CP
Download TUTTY and OPEN.
In Protocol select Serial, Port is left as is and click OPEN (review the port because sometimes that is not correct)
Now write the following:
Type AT (If not accepted, or do not see the characters switch ports)
Type at% imei (should show current phone IMEI)
Type at% imei = x, x, x, x, x ..., (In each X would have to put the number that corresponded to our true IMEI)
Once process is done introduce introduce 3845#*970# on the dialer and changed CP USB -> USB AP and ready.
Reboot the phone and check the IMEI by dialing *#06#.

Well you definitly should backup the nvram partition, before you try to touch anything related to it. I'd say, until you provide a way of how to back it up, you should delete the information above, since it can seriously screw up phones... look for a post made by xonar_ he explained somewhere, how to back up nvram partition. As soon as this info is in there, I think this thread is a good one. But until then, it seems to dangerous to me...
See i am always in favour of sharing information and knowledge, but as long as things arent bullet proof, they always risk to brick noobs' phones. That's the only thing i am concerned about... I am quite sure, that otherwise lots of new threads about: tried to unlock my phone, now my phone doesnt work anymore will pop up

I don't know about that, only say what I see in other forum, but I don't know about nvram partition nor what erase cp really does.
I think if this process afects nvram partition, it'll be good if there is an easy way to backup it and restore if something goes grong.
For now nobody reported problems, only people that did something grong in tutty and can't restore imei, but finally they could do it.

That thing really works, I've just unlocked my sister's P920 yesterday... I had some headache restoring the IMEI back but I finally did it... I was thinking if this method should work or not with our P970, and looks like it really does!

Yes it seems to work, though you should backup your nvram before doing anything to it. If you guys dont wanna listen to me... well your problem... i just dont wanna have to deal with noobs every day, who have problems with or after the procedure. I am only making suggestions. Over an out.

Dont be so uptight, everything here on XDA is not bulletproof, if somene is trying to do something that does not understand is not the fault of the OP, people that come to XDA should be aware that here is not the place to take things lightly.
We all started as noobs, but reading, searching and understanding makes us take a step away from noobishness (I think that word doesnt even exist) some faster than others, even I had a bricked my phone the first time I tried to flash CM7(even when I'd read the instructions carefully), but that didnt stopped Me trying to fix my own mess, I read, searched and read again until I could fix My phone, all that without having posted a Q in the CM7 thread or opening a Q in general subforum, the moral of the story is if you broke it you fix it with your own tools(brain).
PS I'm still a noob, one that can compile a kernel and a rom but a noob nonetheless.
So, good to do or not ?

You can to do.
In HTCmania (http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=320114) many people have done it successfully.

Search for: xonar_ backup nvram
You have to dd it to a .img file first, then copy it from your sdcard to your phone, just to be on the safe side.

Is there a way to know if the nvram is corrupted ? I used that method last year because of my phone being always in emergency mode after receiving too many sms (more than 500 in a short time were sent)

well theres always a safe way to do it i bought an unlock code for 10$ and it was pretty fast at www(dot)unlock(dot)mx

[GUIDE] [ROOT] root LG L90 running D41510e or higher WORKS WITH LOLLIPOP AS WELL

Yah, so as the title says, ima show you how to root ur lg l90! The only reason im doin this is because @gdjindal's guide didn't work fer me. That runs v10e or higher WITHOUT DOWNGRADING. I'm not really sure if this works on previous firmwares, but let me know if it does :good:.
Firstly, the original tutorial is here: 1x1a.com/how-to-root-a-lg-optimus-l90-d415-10e.html
Code:
WARNING
Your warranty is now void.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app
failed. Please view the original guide BEFORE looking at this
abridged version! YOU are choosing to make these
modifications, and if you point the finger at me
for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Download the files attached.
First things first: make sure you have USB debugging enabled (can be found in dev options in settings app) Install the drivers you downloaded.
Then, you should connect your phone to your PC/laptop (must be able to run batch files) in MTP (or your PTP equivalent) If prompted for USB debugging permissions on your phone, hit allow.
Now for the actual rooting.
Open the root script zip file, and extract it wherever you like. Extract the Drivers in this zip file and run the exe within. Then, open the folder and select the LG Root Script Batch file. Now just sit back and relax.
If you get a message saying that the serial port could NOT be found, then disconnect your phone and turn it off. Then WITHOUT TURNING IT ON, hold up the volume button and push in the USB cord. This should fix the problem. Once the process completes restart your phone manually.
Worked for me on a LG L90 D514 v10e . Thank you, as no other method would work.
I can confirm that this works as well, for D41510e firmware. Huge thanks, even though I jumped through all kinds of circles to get this device rooted lol(mainly due to the fact that none of my PC's run windows) Needless to say, I couldn't get the batch file to work via cmd prompt and WINE, so I had to do a fresh windows install. I'm going to try to write a shell script for any linux users out there that might run into the same problems as I did. If I have any success, I'll upload for the OP to include in original post. Thanks again!
Confirmed working on LG L90 D145 TMOBILE running official lollipop, with a tiny amount of editing to the batch file.
Nice !!!

Confirmed for D415 Lollipop
This method also worked to root the Lollipop update. Thank you. (I hate bloatware.) Anyone who is looking for a how and is already rooted with a custom recovery, just use Rashr or Flashify to flash the laf.img file again and use LG Flash Tool (2014 at least) to flash the D41520b_00.kdz to update to Lollipop, then use this method to root.

1 thing edited because it couldn't find my phone
I had to manually enter in what com port my phone was on, I used lg flash tools to determine, I edited the com ports while script was running and hit save, and boom phone rooted in like 30 sec.

Just go to about phone, software info, then repeatedly click on build # 7 times. It should say, congrats, you're a dev now!. Then go back to the main settings page and open the dev options. Icon should be like {} symbols. Then enable usb debugging, and click yes if it asks for authorisation when run the batch!
Keep an eye on Windows driver updates
Thanks for this! Just a note to keep an eye on the Windows driver notification in the taskbar. A lot of the hangups were that you had to stop checking Windows Updates for Drivers. Once I clicked that, the downloaded drivers were installed quickly and the script moved along.
Works!
At first I started to get scared because i had to retry the manual download and it says 0% and the computer is trying to connect and for the longest time i thought i did something wrong but it seems to be working!
I keep getting stuck at the Download screen. It doesn't ever seem to detect a com port. I guess I'll keep trying to see if something magically starts working lol

Does it not detect it when you disconnect the USB, put phone in DL mode, and reconnect to USB? Should automatically detect the com port when you do that

You may have to manually select your com port. Typically it's COM 41, sometimes 23, though.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give that a try!
Nope... it just does not want to recognize it. As soon as I put it into download mode my computer just refuses to see it. I tried putting those com ports in manually and nothing. Maybe its a cable problem. I'll see if anything changes with a different cable.
Figured it out... it was the drivers. I thought I had the right set, but when I installed the drivers again from this post, all worked like a charm. I am now happily rooted, and thanks for all the good advice.
Successfully rooted today. It didn't detect the port automatically for me either, but following the instructions to hold volume up during boot got it there. I posted screen shots of the script and my phone. I thought the script failed because you can see where it says Special command ##, it was stuck there for several minutes and my phone showed no progress but it showed rooted in red letters. This might have been because I ran this script at a different time thinking it failed (originally from this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951), but I forgot to run the supersu app once the phone rebooted.
Quick question. I ran it and it was fine up until it looked for a COM port. I manually put it in download mode, and it told me it was missing MSVCR100.dll
I downloaded it, I used one in Sys32, and I get an error when Send_Command.exe gets executed. Any help would be appreciated. This is a clean install of Win7 and I only used the attached drivers.

[TUTORIAL] How to downgrade to KitKat permanent (NO root!)

I thought I should share my findings regarding the downgrade process.
It's a long tutorial, but I listed every step for newbies too.
Biggest issue I had with it - is that the phone constantly downloaded the LL update, no matter what. So here is the solution:
I have used my phone with this setup for the past few days, and it did not download the LL update.
Now I can use my phone on trip, during work, and only lose a few %. Back with LL I lost all my battery even with a few hours of use.
The battery life is pure GODLY now.
Downgrading does NOT trip Knox!
Preparation...
- Download ODIN 3.09 and the latest KitKat firmware for your variant from Sammobile.com.
- Uncompress the firmware file.
- Do a full backup of your phone and your SD card files by copying over everything to your PC and by using Super Backup app. No promo, I just used this one and it works wonderful. (For Contacts, SMS, etc.)
Install phase ONE...
- Power off your phone.
- Enter Recovery Menu, by holding VOLUME_UP + HOME + POWER.
Once you see the Samsung logo, release Power, keep holding the other two.
An Android mascot will pop up.
- Navigate with volume keys, and power. (power is "ok", volumes are up and down.)
- Go into "Wipe Data", wipe.
- Press reboot, then turn off your device once it boots.
Install phase TWO...
- Remove your back cover, remove SD card (just in case), remove SIM card.
- Keep battery, of course (lol).
- Boot phone in DOWNLOAD mode by holding VOLUME_DOWN + HOME + POWER.
- Connect your phone to PC, launch ODIN, load the unpacked firmware with the "AP" button.
Do not touch other buttons and switches.
- Press "Start", wait until your phone reboots.
Install phase THREE...
- After your phone booted, DO NOT CONNECT TO WIFI or INSTALL YOUR SIM CARD.
- Turn off wifi, make sure it DOES NOT CONNECT and DID NOT CONNECT TO ANY WIFI NETWORK!!!
- Go into Settings -> About Phone -> Software Updates. Untick "check for updates".
- Turn off your phone.
- Add a DATA SIM CARD. That can connect to mobile networks.
- Boot phone.
- Once it is booted, you will see that the phone will check for updates.. (yeah, to hell with our settings)*
- Open the notification, and you can find an option "NEVER REMIND ME".
* If it does not check, you can do it manually BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE A DATA SIM CARD INSTALLED!
Then you can see what update you have, and whether you want to download it. Some people reported there are patches for KitKat on some regions.
DONE. You just outsmarted the evil Samsung. Good job.
- If you have your sd card installed, everything in place, you can now connect to wifi.
- Install/recover stuff, set up things, etc. You are good to go.
Ps.: If you are a Samsung employee, please, don't screw us over by force shipping some sneaky OTA to our devices. We do like to have choice what / which version we run, etc. Forcing crap down our throats is not really a nice way to treat customers.

The only way was for me, is to tap on that "never remind me again" thing.
Oh well, if you had luck this way, that's fine too (at least we have a workaround handy if the original tutorial does not work for someone.)
Ps.: I hope the 5.1. update will fix all the issues (especially battery wise).
Though... the S6 5.1 update was a let down.
Perfect tutorial man for those beginners. But I thought you might want to add in one thing. When you originally flash KK there will be a small 100+MB update that needs to be done. As it was said in the XDA TV video its for a battery issue. Once that downloads and reboots to install, go right back into the Settings->About Phone->Software updates and uncheck auto updates.
Well. I was really tired when I read your reply and I could not remember if I ever updated adter the flash. Turns out I did, and now I have L coming down once again. Oh my.
Did a Nova backup, Super Backup, and I will reflash on the weekend. And now I will have to charge my power bank, and prepare a mobile charging cable too. Oh good times...

Ok, so since I had to reinstall the phone, I tried what you said.
Well, I only get the L update, after it checks for updates... No small update or anything.
I used this firmware: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/44754/N910CXXU1BOC3_N910COXX1BOC1_XEH/
N910CXXU1ANK5_N910COXX1ANK2_N910CXXU1ANK5_HOME.tar.md5
Maybe some regions do have small patches for battery issues (even on Kitkat)... or some regions don't have this "latest KK" as md5 file.
Could be the difference in versions your right.I used this one to go back to 4.4.4. It's the AOA1 build for my carrier

Yes, I have read the Sprint forum (I was searching for something else on Google), and some people did complain about that.
It's the bootloader or something.
Well, I am pretty sure it's possible to downgrade... somehow.
(The S4 Mini got the same problem. Once you are on 4.4, you cannot downgrade, it will just fail at the end of the process.
For God knows what reason.)
Uhm... make a thread in the Sprint forum, and if someone got his Knox tripped, he can try the reformat and other options to flash the KitKat rom back. (Well, even if he succeeds, we won't know whether those checkboxes will trip knox or not. There is just no way to tell. Knox should _not_ be tripped when flashing official firmwares.)

Please dont make another thread in the Sprint forum pertaining to downgrading to KK after being on OE1 bootloader and up.
Theres too many already and its been answered numerous times when OE1 first came out. I replied to your Question in the other thread about going to KK from LP and with you being on OF5, as of right now, its not possible and Odin will prevent you from bricking your phone, giving you an auth error.
hi my friend, i am in 5.0.1 lollipop with DBT Firmware CSC N910FXXU1BOC3. It is save to downgrade without trip Knox counter? Can you tell me the kitkat version who download?
I did this to my Note Edge too....LP is garbage and people praise it? I guess newer is not better...great tutorial though. Its people like you that take the time and do things like this that makes the world a little better place.
I'm only getting a NAND write start /fail error message. My phone has been doing some goofy stuff lately. Screen locks up (blank) and nothing responds. I get the menu lights for a sec and then they are gone. Plug the phone into the pc leave it for a few minutes and everything comes back. Dunno if that is a software or hardware issue.

OK..., take time to check : LGExtract.exe -kdz V20C_00.kdz
Then just open resulting cab for .dz_verification: "LGP880AT-00-V20c-EUR-XXX-OCT-07-2014+0.dz"
If needed I can upload it.

@InterrtuptoR For RIL you can change firmware to either v20b or v20a and also try changing sim card and please check. For bad network some time sim card that too old might create a problem, anyway give a shot and please do report so that we can see what else we can do for you. For now I am sleeping its already late. will get back to you after next 12-14hr
Thanks

@Phil_Smith @InterrtuptoR , after many readings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search/thread/2780274?query=02.1233
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2329768
it looks logical that your AboutPhone/screen indicates a v20c/01.1233 firmware different from last kdz flashed...; if not : it means you used a "tricky" method to upgrade to v20c_00.kdz...
FIRST (lucky? ) remove your battery for few and reboot back to check changes in AboutPhone/screen for KitKat minimum;
CHECK BEST: http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-4x-hd/general/lg-p880-firmware-flash-upgrade-t2919195
(I remember I used odd ref http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723 with v20d/02.1216.01)
@dimi89 can you upgrade this thread/title with cleared ref V20c-EUR-XXX-OCT-07-2014
Download mirror for official LG2014 v20c_00.kdz (zipped) & P880-Flashtools.rar : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=128886
@oF2pks Appreciate Man for uploading .kdz This might help many users. Also upload any v10xyz for ICS stock user like a complete package.
Thanks again

First of all thanks for all your research and help!
Sadly the LG Mobile Support Tool always stops saying "Upgrade stopped due to an error".
Anything I can do?
Edit: And thinking that it might have to do with Windows version (running Windows 10 x64), I tried using a virtual machine emulating Win 7 x64, but here it says "Cannot connect to server"...
(usual at your own risks...)

( @InterrtuptoR )
Remember that .kdz is LG' file_support for upgrade/init firmware; the good is that the Win dll/flash is included in the .kdz (better option than tricky .dz flash): check whole thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-4x-hd/general/lg-p880-firmware-flash-upgrade-t2919195
- use CSE flash with custom rom
(- OR restore a JB nandroid and then use NORMAL flash for an upgrade on JB)
If trouble :
-FIRST (lucky ?) : try another usb cable
-HARD : format via cwm and proceed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
I'm pretty sure @dimi89 just went threw this; he is an early p880' user and will help for steps or different way (?)
Once done, you need to flash cwm and a custom rom to check that AboutPhone/baseband is showing exact kdz :"LGP880AT-00-V20c-EUR-XXX-OCT-07-2014" and not the version firmware 02.1233, ie a different kdz origin.
(Under resulting LG JB, the AboutPhone/os firmware indication is always the rom in use, not the original kdz, so it always looks good even if not...like old 2013 V20C or remix... )

"-FIRST (lucky ?) : try another usb cable"
Tried another one, but the errors stay the same. I also know that the cable I use worked for data transfer before.
"-HARD : format via cwm and proceed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723"
I tried that, but the LG software update tool keeps saying "phone not found"... Tried an 2.0 usb port at the back of my PC and also here tried a different cable - the error persists.

Okay, I tried it on a PC that natively runs Windows 7 and of course again the Windows version caused the mess... On that 7 machine everything went smoothly (although the "Cannot connect to server" error persisted, I was able to ignore it, as the program proceeded in the background).
Really to all of you having issues with upgrading LG software and running Windows 8 or higher:
Do not waste hours and simply try on a Windows 7 machine!
I remember having had troubles likes that before on win 8.1 , where the only solution in the end had been the same... it can drive you mad, so just please skip that!
Now I'm on cm11 nightly and "about phone" still shows L6260_MODEM_SIC_02.1233.00 under Baseband-Verison ...

I'm now on @csk1jw 's new 7.1 ROM where my baseband version now shows the correct "LGP880AT-00-V20c-EUR-XXX-OCT-07-2014" which seems to be good, right?
GetRIL though still says "unknown RIL", but I'm not sure if that's just normal.
