[REF] [RADIO] Mako modem collection - Nexus 4 General

I've decided to try and compile a list of the available radios for the Nexus 4 so that people have a "one-stop" for all of them.
Unless stated otherwise, I've pulled all of these myself from either the factory images from Google's site, and packaged them up to be flashable in recovery.
Notes:
1) I have no idea what the differences are between the versions.
2) LTE is disabled in all radios newer than 0.33. If you want to use LTE, you need to use 0.33, 0.27 or a hybrid.
3) For those on T-Mobile who want to use LTE, see this post. Also see this for a recovery-flashable fix for no audio when using older radios on 4.2.2.
4) For advanced users: the radios from the Optimus G do also work to a certain extent, but they require kernel patches. See here.
5) For those that can't tether when using LTE, here are the proper IP tables.
Standard disclaimer: I take no responsibility if you mess up your device by flashing any of these radios.
These are flashable in a custom recovery. To flash using fastboot, extract the image from within, and flash that using: fastboot flash radio modem.img
Downloads are available at this link: Mako Modem Collection. Thanks to bombadier for providing the hosting.
Note: I have removed all the dev-host links that we were previously using. While in the past, dev-host was an acceptable hosting site, in recent months it has gone downhill -- to the point of having misleading multiple "fake" download buttons and sometimes even offering up malware. I strongly suggest that no one use dev-host as a hosting site for any files going forward.

houstonn has provided a mirror for some of the N4 radios here.
Unofficial hybrid radios
morrislee has done some great work: he replaced the core modem components in 0.84 with those from 0.33 and 0.27. See his posts here and here. This enables us to use LTE and yet have all the newer features (power management, audio on T-Mobile, etc.) from the newer radios.
See this thread for discussion/information on hybrid radios.

Sweet thanks, was wondering about that .27 that review testers had before it got updated to the official 4.2 build. Gonna test out this .24 to see if it works better (not that .33 is terrible but i get some weird signal drops sometimes).

Hmm....I wonder if the leaked modem or the original(JOP40C) would help intermittent data loss issue most devs are running into after HSIC wakelock fixes? Lets try it out

Keep then coming..thanks for this.

Not that that will probably help, seeing as it doesn't back up the radio

Flashed .27 and seems I was having "data stalls" - in that i mean if the phone was sleeping I didn't get alerts for data stuff (MMS/Google Talk) but as soon as I opened the apps they refreshed showing received a message some time ago.

So did it fix the problem?

I was having some signal drops (where the signal just disappears then comes back) on .33 so i flashed .24 (not .27 as i said above) to see if that would fix it. That's when i started getting data stalls (where it shows it was connected but i actually wasn't). Flashed back to .33 now and all is same again.

Added 0.27 radio.

thanks for the work

Oh, please, no more sticky threads. It's better to include it in the sticky thread "[INDEX] ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, Guides, etc *DEC 31st 2012" where everything that's useful is accessible:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975842

I'm interested to see if any of these radios can fix the issue of no simultaneous data and voice on AT&T.

Thanks for pointing it out. I'm getting a hold of houstonn to see what is going on with his dev-host.

Links in OP fixed.

Thank you!
Thank you so much for extracting and posting these. I have been having nothing but problems at home on the latest .33 radio since I got my N4.
I was finally able to download these, downgraded to .27 and immediately noticed better results. Battery drain is a bit higher so far but it's only been a day. Signal strength seems a bit stronger and I don't get nearly as many data drops or grey signal bars. It was basically unusable at home, I was furious. I'll test .27 a bit more and then .24. Would be nice to have some actual info on these a some point if possible! Thanks again! :good:

Radios are closed source, so we can't really tell what the difference is. Try them and see what differences you see.

=] .27 is awesome! Faster speeds and better signal
Thank you efrant! Glad your on the N4!

Yes it can be flashed on 2.3.2. Too early to tell but nothing has exploded yet so that's always a good sign.
after flashing the radio(it flashed fine. much faster then flashing a radio on the N1) i noticed it connected to the network much faster than the old one. also, in the location im at now, data speed more than doubled! it went from 2.5mbps to nearly 6! i hope its that way when i get home too
i flashed it over the latest cm7 kang without any issue.
Thanks for this. Working nicely with CM7.
Seems reception is a little better.
Just curious what's MD5?

It's a hash function to check if the download is intact. A broken download can brick your phone.
Not checking MD5 is like going raw with a chick you picked up at a bar.

The new radio is awesome, I actually get reception in my apartment that's halfway below ground(on a hill), that I never got before. Almost no need for Wi-Fi Calling anymore. Scratch one problem with the phone off my list.
New radio is great. Bluetooth connection is now flawless whereas before it would always drop the media connection to my stereo (I assume the baseband governs the bluetooth radio as well?).
By the way, does anyone have the old radio .zip for 2.3.1? I downgraded to 2.3.1 to get the OTA update to 2.3.3 rather than the update.zip from the forum (in case the yellowy screen was a fault of a flawed update) and now i can't get the OTA because i still have the 2.3.3 baseband (i assume this is the reason i can't get the 2.3.2 OTA being as it has always been available when i was on 2.3.1 in the past.
Thanks in advance.
new radio works great .. i get better speed.. much better upload speed..... nexus always rules...
I feel like the wifi connects faster.

[Q] GPS Fix Pac Man Rom?

I flashed the nightly version of the Pac Man ROM to my HTC ONE earlier. Everything works great but I can't get the GPS to work. I thought it may have been google maps so I downloaded strava as well and GPS definitely does not work. It just continues to look for signal. I tried searching for a fix and wanted to post in the actual development thread, but I don't have enough posts so it directed me here to the general section. Any help would be appreciated. I know they release new updates each day so I will continue backing up and flashing to see if the new releases work was just curious if I was missing something. Thanks.

[Q] WiFi Speed Issues

I have an AT&T Version HTC One, I just flashed a few different 4.4 ROMs (Revolution HD, One Droid, Beanstalk, etc) and I'm having the same frustrating issue- my WiFi speeds are horrible!!! I can't seem to do more than one thing at a time because the WiFi takes forever to load anything. It seems to be only an issue with the download speed topping out at 3Mbps (every other device gets around 45Mbps) but the upload speeds are still fine on my phone.
Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated! Is there a Wifi radio I should flash? I'm curently on Android Revolution HD 4.4 with Sense 5.5
Happy Holidays!

all the KitKat roms are based off the developer edition release, and if your like me all the developer edition files do not get along with my AT&T One. I have always had horrible WiFi and Data service on all developer edition versions. I went back to InsertCoin 6.0.5 (3.62.401.1 - 4.3 base) until AT&T releases their KitKat Update.

[Q] android and radio clarification

I need some clarification regarding android and radio baseband.
I'm running latest cm-11 nightly and my baseband version is XXUEMK1
Is this radio included in the cyanogenmod ROM or is it a separate partition that wont get updated with a ROM flash?
I've found the thread with a list of different radio ROMS for the i9305. Are these optimized for different countries or will they work regardless of country?
Is there a way to backup my current radio if I want to try a different radio and need to revert? XXUEMK1 is not listed in the thread with all the ROMS.
Found some information in another tread:
Baseband / Modem / Radio - This is the software that manages your connection to wireless networks, be that voice or data. Unlike unrooted users, you can download and flash any number of i9300 (Versions for other models WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE) or i9305 radios pulled from official ROMs. I wouldn't waste too much time on them. Usually what your official ROM comes with in your country / for your carrier, is the most optimised for you. Try a few by all means but don't waste time testing every last one.
Be aware that Samsung official ROMs come with a baseband. Often this means Samsung based custom ROMs may also do so. Some ROMs which install using the Aroma installer (A kind of set-up wizard) may give the option to not flash the baseband. AOSP ROMs almost never come with a baseband. When you flash a ROM withotu a baseband, the previous baseband remains. You can by all means, mix and match ROMs and basebands. You are not tied to the baseband with the same build number as the ROM. For example, if you are on XXEMB1 ROM, you definitely do NOT have to stay on the XXEMB1 baseband.

Roaming Indicator Flashing
My Moto X (XT1056) works perfectly on stock ROM but when I installed CM11 on it, its roaming indicator started flashing. I have tried changing its network modes but still it keeps on flashing. I can receive messages and calls but can't make any call or send messages. What to do?
Sorry, I 'm new to this , which version I should download for my moto x 1058, thanks
i don´t speak english correctly
In June, I made a mistake that wiped my phone all the way down to boot img. Using adb and my extremely limited knowledge of how to use it, I was able to get this puppy up and running again. Due to money issues, it's just a small entertainment center for me now, (music, movies while I ride the bus, news & books, etc,) so I depend on WiFi heavily. When I (luckily!) Reformatted the phone from scratch, (misplaced my backup, when internal memory was wiped when the oops happened,) cm11 was having problems with WiFi. I believe that, from what I'm reading in the cm11 post, that the WiFi issue is cleared up and I'd like to get up to date, setting as how I'm using an April release. I'm using a sprint moto x, (1056, I THINK!?)
Am I gonna have to find this modem people are talking about, or can I just clean flash up to the latest nightly?
Can anyone throw me a little bone here?
Thanks, all...
Any and all info is greatly appreciated!!!

Don't forget to back up your data.

Since its a long way from stock 4.4.4 I don't intend to wipe.... more than -hopefully- once.

Flash stock ROM get GPS lock, boot into recovery flash CM. GPS should work. I have to do this every once in while when GPS starts acting up usually good until you clean flash or switch Roms.

I was having this problem until moments ago. GPS Status and Toolbox would never find a single satellite, though I found it worked fine in stock.
Strangely, Tekanina's advice worked for me on my Xt1053 DE. I restored a TWRP backup of stock (not for the first time), got GPS lock, then flashed the latest CM nightly, got an binary error on flashing, did a wipe, binary error went away, flash succeeded, booted up, got GPS satellites right away! Not sure if it was getting a GPS lock in stock, or the full wipe that fixed this. I though for sure GPS was borked in recent versions of CM on ghost. Seems it isn't!

Unfortunately, no, it doesn't. Due to the lack of a normal notifications LED, this means you get no indication at all of notifications. There is a bright green LED in the earpiece that a couple of people have figured out how to turn control, but apparently it can't be used as a notification LED because (at least for now) it requires a USB connection to turn on:
