[review] Deluxe Leather Card Stand Flip Wallet Case - Galaxy Note II Accessories

Original Post
Has anyone used this leather flip case?
Deluxe Leather Card Stand Flip Wallet Case
It looks to be high quality, but I have a concern. It looks to be magnetic. Where is the magnet? If it is in the little flap, I would just cut it off. If anyone has used it, I would appreciate hearing what you think.

Purchase Review:
I thought I would start this off by giving a quick review of the transaction. I ordered mine through the eBay link in my original post that is quoted above. Shipping was very fast. It was packaged pretty well, and I got exactly what I ordered. If anyone is interested in this case I recommend using the this eBay link.
[Modified] Product Review:
I am reviewing the product as I modified it. I cut the little flap off to remove the magnet.
PROS:
The case does seem to be very high quality. The coloring is very nice and the case has a premium look and feel. I also really like the shell insert to clip the phone in. There is no bulk around the edges of the screen to contend with. It allows you to use swipe gestures as you would on a naked phone.
There is also plenty of storage for 4-5 credit cards, a pocket for cash, and another pocket for papers (Social Security Card, Voter ID, or things like that).
This case also offers pretty good protection as long as it stays closed on a drop. If it were to flutter open in the air before and land screen down, the screen might not fare too well.
CONS:
There is a second magnet inside the front cover of the case. I piece of metal will stick to the outside very easily, However if you run the piece of metal along the inside of the front cover, there is no magnetic pull. I don't know if it would interfere with the phone, but I don't want to risk it.
The storage, while a pro, is also a con. The case is too big to use everyday in your front pocket. It fits, but there is a huge bulge that just looks weird. And I don't like the thought of sitting on my phone all the time, so the back pocket is out. If I carried a bag around all day the size wouldn't bother me at all.
No front cutouts. A cutout for the notification LED would be nice. I don't really need a front speaker cut out, but I could see why others would.
Credit cards in the case. I worry about have the edges of the cards always rubbing on the screen. I have a screen protector your screen would be safe, but the protector itself would have rub lines from the cards.
OVERALL OPINION:
I really like the way it looks. I really like the idea of it. However the cons are just too much, and this case isn't for me.

I would also like to know looks super nice for the price...I want a wallet case like that so I can throw phone in my backpack for work and watnot

Is there a magnet in the cover too or just the little flap?

I picked this up and love it. I actually did away with the little flap and with precision sliced it off. I keep three cards in the card holders and with a little over a months use it is nicely worn in getting an authentic 'vintage' look. Because it's worn in the cover doesn't have issues closing completely giving it a true Journal/Diary appearance.
I bought mine here, but still stuck with the same color posted on the OP.

Overall very impressed with what I got for what I paid. Definitely recommend it.

The case you have linked uses magnets as well. That is s deal breaker

I have the white version of this case. The only complaint i have about it is that the SPen is a b**** to access

[QUICK REVIEW] Nexus 7 OEM Case

So I just got my OEM case in from the Play Store and I figured I’d give you guys my initial thoughts on it and answer any questions you guys might have. First and foremost, I must say I am a little disappointed in the overall quality of this thing. It just doesn’t match that of the tablet that it is designed to protect. It’s a little on the thick side, it is made from a cheap TPU style material which I have never been a fan of, and it makes the sleep/wake and volume buttons rather difficult to press. The flap that folds over the screen is the same material, and while it does have a little extra thickness for protection, there is no soft liner to protect the screen. I guess that’s OK, because nothing will scratch the screen anyway when it’s closed. There is no magnet, clasp, or snap to hold it shut, but it does stay shut on its own when the tablet is set down. The hinge is very flexible, and you can fold the cover completely flat to the back of the tablet with little effort. Unfortunately, there is NO smart cover function here so it does not wake up the tablet or put it to sleep.
The design of the case matches that of the Nexus 7 closely. It has the same dimpled pattern on the front and back, and the Nexus and ASUS logos are the same size and in the same location as they are on the back of the tablet itself. One thing I really like about it is that I can clip my Wacom Bamboo stylus (my secret weapon in Draw Something and Where's my Water) directly to the spine of the cover which is pretty convenient. The way that the case was manufactured left seams running around the whole case, and you can see the score and cut marks where seemingly all the cases were stuck together on the assembly line. Sorry, but to me it all just makes it feel cheap. I do like the design of the case, I just think they could have made it with higher quality materials. If you happen to like TPU cases, then surely you will be more pleased with the case than I am. Looking online all the other cases available seem pretty cheap and I absolutely HATE leather cases so I think for now, this is the best case available. It really is a shame that this is what Google thinks is the best way to protect their pride and joy of the tablet world, I really wish they put as much thought into it as they did their tablet. All complaints aside, I can recommend this case on its design and level of protection alone- there is no question that the Nexus 7 is safe and sound nestled inside of it. $20 for this thing is a fair price in my opinion, and as critical as I am of it, I am very happy with my purchase and have no problem using it until a better option comes along.

The Wacom Bamboo that I have just has a clip like any other pen but the Adonit Jot Pro that I have on order has a magnet in it to stick it to the face of the tablet.
Thanks bud! Appreciate it. Going to order this as soon as it is available.
Just got back from the craft store, unfortunately none of the magnets I got work. I tried to get the thinnest magnet tape possible so maybe that's the issue. I bought these little .75"x.75" squares, those magnets for the back of business cards, and a roll of actual tape that comes on a dispenser like scotch tape. No go on any of them.
Greatly appreciate the review. Might opt to hold off on this now. :L
Thx for the review..I'll wait for an aftermarket case closer to the smart cover on the iPad....you know one is coming!

Galaxy Note 2 Flip Case Review

I bought it from mobilefun's website. I have owned flip covers for Note 1, Galaxy S3 and this is, by far the best. Samsung must have listened to the myriad complaints revolving around the whole flip cover thing and improved the quality remarkably.

(+) Looks lovely
(+) Matches the grey metallic finish of the Note 2.
(+) Adds little weight
(+) Flap's quality has increased like 10x times as compared to the Note 1's flip cover's flip.
(+) Protects the big screen
(+) You do not need to use screen protector anymore
(+) Replaces back cover of Note 2 and thus adds little to overall thickness.
(+) White Note 2s can enjoy the contrast it produces
(-) Expensive. Should be cheaper.
(-) It is more about adding class and style to your phone rather than adding protection.
I have posted a detailed review on my site too. You can read it here.
Looks good! Cant wait to get mine!!! My note 2 is "naked" at the moment. We'll I have to get an screen protector while I'm waiting for the cover.
Does it add much to the thickness of the note? Love how thin it is atm though
The flap adds ~1mm thickness.
One thing I forgot to mention above - the case is NFC compatible

Its quite a bit cheaper than elsewhere in the UK £20.95 and the white one is a couple of pounds more.
Quality cover i am really pleased with it.
Does the cover protect the camera lense? In other words, is it thick enough so that when I place the phone on its back, the lense is not touching the table?

I'm using this as my temporary case until my TPU cases come. For me the main purpose of a case is to cover up the chrome border that is bound to get scratched and this case doesn't do that.
I like my flip case as well.. i just ordered a case from samsung site along with a dock as well...
Will also get a case with a kickstand once they are out!
how is the quality of the back cover on this flip case compared to the stock cover? My stock cover is flimsy and squeaks already
thank you for the review, i was thinking about picking one up.
Could any post pictures of the backside/give a little description of it?
I know the Leather Flip for the OG Note had a texture to it which I quite liked and I remember seeing that the White version of the Flip Cover for the GN2 has a bit of texture.

I am now seeing these available on the Samsung US site along with the hard protective cases. Several colors of the hard, gray or light blue in the flip. I ordered a white protective case without issue. (Pending timely arrival of course )
I'm too new to post links, sorry.
MOD EDIT
You can buy these in the US at Sprint. To answer some of your questions:
It replaces the phone back and has the incorporated nfc.
It does not add any protection for the camera lens.
I close mine when talking on the phone to stop getting facial oil on my screen. Always hated that.
Its true it doesnt protect the edges at all, but no one buying this is doing so for edge protection. I have seen diy case modifications that people have done to use this case in conjunction with a bumper case. Just adds to the bulk.
I believe this is an outstanding case for those of us who baby their phones. Its not for the irresponsible note owner as it provides zero shock protection. I use this case in conjunction with a suction cup ball that sticks to the back for a kickstand when needed. Love it, this flip case makes the note look even classier

$11 Ebay 2 piece ruggedized case review

Actually it is 3 piece. The pics from the seller looks like a 2 piece but it is hard rubber, followed by a hard plastic front and back that snaps together. The finish on the rubber is not the smoothest. It looks like I got a used case. The finish on the hard plastic is okay. I check for roughness and sharpness before I snap it on the phone.
As far as protection, probably as well as an Otterbox, Seido or Trident but the fit and finish on the other cases are probably much better. Going to keep it for now since I need the drop protection. Volume and power port switch works well and the phone is VERY WELL protected. Also once you snap the case in, it is almost impossible to remove as you can see by the coin mark and the fingernail mark on the hard plastic. Thickness is about the same as the Casemate toughcase on my Epic 4G touch.

Thanks for that insightful review. I got the case in yesterday and I ordered it off some seller in Minnesota. I think it's the closest "rugged" case out there for now until otterbox, trident, or ballistic shows up. I can't wait to snap it on my phone when I finally get my pre-order in on friday (assuming Sandy and the new blizzard doesn't affect shipping)
it has a really bad finish :/
it makes your 700$+ phone looks cheap but as you said until something better comes up its a good case
btw from the pictures i can't tell if it covers the notification light or not, any info on that?

Notification light is not covered. You are correct, it is a very rugged case with a rugged finish. I have to wash my hand before eating since the case is probably made in China and the finish on the rubber is so "dull".
So far I have tried:
Samsung original flip cover: Not worth the $32 since it doesn't offer much protection. Thin, Sleek, sexy, well made, but no drop protection.
Samsung TPU protective case: Very nice finish, very thin, a tad slippery, but the rubber around the metal bezel is very tough material. Cons, not enough drop protection for front screen.
Poetic thick cover case: Covers the phone well, good drop protection but having that flip cover makes it a bit awkward to take picture.
I just might pull the trigger on that black Seido Active case if they don't have a color one soon. The Trident Aegis looks very nice and covers all the ports but not available for a while. Good price too at $25.
So far, the only accessory that I like is the LG HBS -730 stereo bluetooth headset. Decent bass once it fits in your ears, nicely laid out controls, voice confirmation on connect and disconnect, connects flawlessly each time. I find myself using the play, track controls often when in the car without the need to take my hands off the steering wheel to mess with the phone when playing music. Phone calls sound very clear to me and the reciever. The only cons is limited range for listening to music.
I had this case
dint like it and on the same day when I was taking it off it got broken
I had paid around 1000 Indian Rupee which is around 20$ including shipping
Have you tried taking it off the phone ?
If you ever need to do so , do it with caution as it may damage your phone (the effort of taking it off)

Yes, and I can confirm that it is a pain in the rear end. Do not attempt this with finger nails because they will break. THIS CASE IS NOT FOR YOU if you like to change case often. It is the hardest case to remove. Just because of that, I would not recommend it. The trick is to use a small flat blade screw driver, not to sharp so that it will pierce thru the hard rubber(pretty tough rubber). See the pictures. You have to pry the bottom cover over where it snaps with the top cover. So stick the screwdriver between the black and red part and pry the red part up and it will detach from the top cover.
Thank you!
I've bought this one, too. Once I attached it to my Note 2, it was well protected. Doesn't look any luxurious, but it does the protective job. Removing the case is a pure nightmare, unfortunately I broke two clips on left side while taking it off. It's still usable, but I won't attach it back again. Wouldn't recommend this case to anyone who will need access the battery, SIM card or memory card.
One more thing. If you're using micro USB charging cradle like I do, it's a no go with this case. It doesn't allow to fit the connector fully. It's fine with the actual micro USB cable, though.
In general, I'd prefer slim solutions likes of 1 piece of TPU (including covering the corners fully) or 2 pieces hard TPU (front and back).
I bought a sedio active , arrived today i like to go with black color n its looking nice on gray note 2

Belkin Snap Folio Case

After cracking the screen on my Note 2 with a very short less than 2 foot drop I decided I needed to upgrade the protection on my phone. I had a Cruzerlite on there and I thought that was about as good as you could get until you started getting into the big bulky dual and triple layer cases. After looking over my options I picked up the Belkin Snap Folio case at a Verizon store today. Lots of things I like about it and a couple of things I don't. I wasn't sure I would like a folio style case as I think the cover would be a PITA. After a whole day I'm getting used too it, not saying I'm loving the flip open style case but it is growing on me. It does add some thickness to the phone, not as bad as a Defender or the like but more so that my TPU case. It is a little more difficult to pull out of my bluejeans (Levis slim cut) pocket because of the size, the soft leather body which is grippier, and the snap tab which will grab the edge of the pocket. I don''t know if thi will go away with some use but the snap closure curls up when it is used as a stand and obstructs the phone. Hopefully this will go away as I work and break in the leather. There is an indention for the home button on the cover so it lessens the chance of accidental presses waking the device. The leather is soft and the case has a good high quality feel too it. Although it does feel like a quality product don't confuse that for the feel of a premium product you will get some some of the more expensive leather cases available on the market.

There is a hard rubberized plastic shell that is fused to the inside of the leather folio case. I like this design because of the way all 4 corners are protected. The thick still leather body also adds quite a bit of protection and will help absorb the energy of a fall. I also like the security of the cover protecting the glass during a fall. My wife broke her GSII when it fell and hit a pebble sticking up out of the grass. The fit is perfect and all ports like up exactly. With the case closed you have access to the power button, USB port, and headset port. The headset port looks like it is partially blocked but that isn't the case. It is unobstructed and you will have no problems fitting any headphones. My Westones which usually have a hard time fitting into any case unmodified have no problems with this case.
Nice write-up... thx for posting. I've considered a folio case, but have one huge concern. Does the front cover easily fold all the way around to the back (so it's flat on back cover) to allow access to the volume rockers? I frequently use my Note2 in landscape mode (games, landscape typing, etc) and am curious if this case folds all the way back so phone can be held in landscape mode and access volume keys. Thx
Good review.
I am also interested to know if you can bend it all the way back.
DoctorQMM, you can with the official flip case serie and they are very durable. I see absolutely no sign of wear to the fold on mine after two intense moths of use! One word of warning however. The inside of the white one gets very dirty.
Zero problem folding all the way back on itself. I use it that way the majority of the time
Folded back on itself.
A bit fugly for my taste, but it appears to be quite functional.
I prefer vertical flips as it seems more natural (to me) to let the cover fall and talk. With side flips you have to bend them for sure. As this one has a speaker cutout I guess you can always close it after the call is initiated, and then hang up with the power button.
Two major flaws tho... once again they didn't bother to add a cutout for the notification light, meaning that if the phone is in the desk and closed, you will never see events. And they also didn't bother to cut for the volume rocker on the left side. I'm starting to think that if I want a proper case I have to learn some leathersmith skills and buy some equipment. Maybe create a BeoCase business. /heads to kickstarter.com
I have one of these cases. Highly recommend!
This is my signature....
I'm starting to think that these cheap tpu cases are not good for even small drops. I wonder if it would be appropriate to start a thread on which cases can actually survive a drop and which cases do not. Doesn't matter if it's a $2 ebay case or a $60 defender.
Not a big fan of these Folio cases because they expose too much of the top and/or bottom.
Does the flap that keeps the cover down become annoying while trying to use the phone?

Don't notice it normally. Now that I have use it a little it sits flatter when using the stand feature so it isn't that bad any more and doesn't get in the way.

[REVIEW] Galaxy Note 2 wallet case from Spigen

Hello Android fans,
Today, I decided to make a personal review on a wallet style case I really like for use on my Galaxy Note 2.
I'll start by first saying, I have tried several cases, and this was the first time I'd ever actually used a wallet-style case before. But big phones demand alternative measures to hip-holsters that I'm used to.
So, the case I can recommend to people today is from Spigen. The Spigen Valentinus, and here's why:
This case is very smooth, using a thin layer of leather on the outside, filled with padding on the inside and provides great impact support and protection for the phone all around. It also holds up to 4 cards, not the usual 1 to 3 most other wallet cases tended to have. It uses a button snap to keep it closed, so if it does drop, it won't open very easily nor cause interference with a magnet snap.
The inner case that holds the phone is a polycarbon plastic holder which snugs the phone very well. I have yet to see it ever come out without manually removing it, and it does protect all the corners, and exposes a majority of the top and bottom edge of the phone.
The case does of course add some thickness to the phone, but it's smooth, you can comfortably hold it, and wrap the front cover to the back allowing you to use it in your hand, dock it in an iBolt xProDock car dock, and slip it easily into your pocket, and take it out without any issue. The card slots, there's 4 of them, and they are smooth enough to allow you to easily slide out your cards to use them for purchases and such.
The pros:
It's good quality, smooth leather covered over impact padding to give great protection.
Holds 4 cards and has another inside pocket to put even more stuff in, like notes, receipts, etc..
Has a button style snap to keep it closed.
Has a strong polycarbon phone holder inner case.
Exposes, comfortably, the power button, volume rocker, microSD, microphones and earphone jack.
The cons:
When fully filled with plastic credit cards, it presses a bit tightly to the screen. A thermoplastic urethane (like Zagg's invisibleShield) will get indentions from the front cover!
And there you have it.
Hope this helps people,
Psi-Jack

This is a great case. No magnets is a huge boon as they throw both the s-pen and the compass out of whack. I don't why almost every other manufacturer insists on using them, I couldn't find any that were magnet free in local stores. Finally got my hands on a Spigen Illuzion this morning which is basically the same case but synthetic and I'm very pleased with it.

Well you either have no closure, snap closure, magnet closure, or hook and loop closure. By far the sexiest is magnets, but I prefer the snap closure if it's minimal. I don't think I could go with not closure.

This is a personal review based on my own quest to find my new case, I'm not from Spigen. But I will see about getting with Spigen to see if they'd be interested to provide something for it.

I was in a toss up between the Illuzion and the Valentinus, but I went with the Valentinus mainly because of the leather, despite it still being cardboard filled as all consumer "genuine leather" goes. I almost considered making my own, personally, until I saw this.
But, yeah, you are correct. The magnets interfere with a few things, not just the S-Pen, but I believe also the magnetometer in the phone (which Is probably how they got the S-Pen detection to actually work in the first place!)
I checked so many local stores and could never find what I wanted, they were either too cheap and crappy built, or just magnetic. Sure, magnet /looks/ nice, but it won't stay closed on a drop, unless it's a super heavy-duty magnet that you know will just ruin every chance of actually using the phone. hehe
