My tab decided for some reason not to see any wifi networks. First it was stuck at "turning on wifi", someone suggested to update rom.
So i updated (cm10 nightly to new cm10 nightly)
All i did is changed wifi channel on my router, then due to "turning on wifi" changed it back, but problem didnt go away...
Router is fine, all my other devices (2x android and a PC) see and connect to it without any problems.
This has happened for a second time.
First time it was on GB and it just went away and started seeing and connecting again (after numerous reboots/resets)... No idea.
And i cant get a straight solution to this problem... Now my tab is just an expensive media player...

Didn't help. Needed to restock to GB.
So today i decided to do JellyBean again. As soon as CM10.1 got installed Wifi disappeared. Tried adding manually - no dice. Network itself is fine, i use it at this very moment as i type this.
So, why my tablet cant see any Wifi networks under JB ? Its defeinitely not faulty wifi nor router, but OS. So how to fix this ?
#EDIT1# Also there is no SIM in my tab...
I used ics for my tab with sucess. I could not find Wi-Fi or3 g using that kernal. Might be a problrm with the way the kernal was made.

Good Morning,
For some reason, recently the wifi on my phone isnt connecting...i constantly get "optaining ip address"
At first i thought it was something with my router, but my phone is doing this on open networks and on my friends router.
It was working perfectly up until about 3days ago.
Any ideas on what i can try?
I have the exact same problem and am looking for a fix as well.
It starting happening to me after I updated my radio version to 3805.x.x.x because the phone wasn't working on the previous version.
I had the same problem with CM7 Nightly #66 and 67, but after i updated to Radio 20.2810.30.085AU_3805.06.03.16 i don't have that problem any more.
Now my WiFi connect and gets a IP very quick.
Update:
So I've tried 2 things without any luck.
1- I found on another forum that updating the kernel helped a few people. So I flashed 2.6.35.14-Tiamat_IncS-v1.1.2. That didn't fix the wi-fi.
2- I took jkolner's advice just above and flashed a radio for a 2.33.669.2 RUU. Although nothing else broke, wi-fi was still a no-go.
I will keep searching and post back any finds.
SOLVED
Previously I was running CyanogenMod7 7.1.0-RC1. After trying the 2 things posted in my previous post, I proceeded into trying CM7 Nightly #68. At the moment I can now connect to my home wireless network.
I'm so happy to get wi-fi back! And I hope it will be able to help others as well!
Last month i was on holiday for 3 weeks without any WiFi in range, so i know how it is to do with no WiFi ;-)
Hello.
I've tryed many ROMs that are here in xda: Froyobread, GingerDX, GingerXperia, kuyaDROID, xGin, etc... And now I am using Stornmix with stock kernel.
But in all this ROMs I've had always the same problem: wi-fi.
My wi-fi connection works good during 1 or 2 minutes. Then it stops working and I can't use the browser nor the market or other app that uses internet connection.
When I turn off and on again the Wi-fi, the internet connection comes back good, but the same happens after few time.
I even tryed 1 wi-fi fix that i've found here, but didn't solve my problem.
Have you guys experienced this problem too?
Any clue how to solve it?

It is already that way.
Always have been.
Delete the remembered connections.Sometimes too much of them cause problems.
There's a compatibility issue with WPA-AES encryption. It's been discussed here and somewhere else (official SE forum i think). Not much to do about it...

Scratch the "AES" and make it "EAP" ...
IF AES would be a problem I think no one of us could connect to their access points as WPA/2 actually uses AES for encryption ...

I had a similar problem with GDX back in the days of v012 onwards. The WiFi connection wouldn't completely die but only go through a disconnect/reconnect loop every 2-5 minutes (unless I used "Wifi Static" to set a static IP configuration for my access point).
I solved the "disconnect/reconnect loop while using DHCP" problem by switching to another WiFi channel (my Access Point automatically determined channel 1 to be the best choice ... I later on switched to channel 11 and the problems fixed itself) - sounds weird, but worked.
You may give it a try.
On the other hand we already had weird WiFi problems which really didn't go away unless one flashed back to stock (where the WiFi suddenly worked flawlessly again) and changed over to the custom ROM again from there.

Thank you for your help, I'll try that and see if it improves my wi-fi.
And yes, as I can remember, it worked nice with the stock rom.
Hi Everyone,
As title says, a few weeks ago I noticed that my wifi keeps dropping no matter what I do.. this being as i surf and not in sleep mode or anything like that.
How did it start?
when it happened this is what i did, went to GB rooted rom, flashed up to JB room paranoid android, all worked fine except i noticed wifi kept dropping, tried another jb rom ,same thing, tried ics kingdroid rom, same thing. So then I decided to go back to original official stuff GB, same thing.. wifi dropping, went to official ICS, still wifi keep dropping.
What I have done to try to fix it:
Tried different roms, networks, all settings in Wifi settings. Googled like 3 days straight, mostly this seems to be a galaxy s3 problem not a galaxy note problem. A few people said they solved it by giving it a static ip which wouldnt work for me as im on like 3 different networks, and by changing sleep settings to make sure it doesnt shut off during sleep mode, which i honeslty have no problem with. Someone solved it by switching rom, nothing i find applies to me..
So what do I do??
I would honestly appriciate any suggestion, this is a great community so I got high hopes Sorry if my question has been answered before but I dont belive so, i posted in noob thread any noone had suggestion so I hope I dont do anything wrong with this post.. cheers :victory:

What's your modem? Go to settings > about> baseband
thanks for the reply it's n7000xxlrk , it's it suppose to be that?

The operation of Wi-Fi is a core responsibility. Try changing the kernel. Modem is responsible for the connection to GSM. If you change the kernel does not help, you probably have a broken phone.

well i have weak wi fi signal.. Most of the modems don't work for me.. Ddlp4 is the one i use..and no the kernel has nothing to do with wifi signal strength
Check your router and see if WPA Wireless network encryption is set to AES, if it is, change it to TKIP., see if you can connect after.
Usually it's nothing to do with the ROM, modem, kernel, android or even the phone itself, it might be your router setting that needs a change.
Know it was long since I made this thread but I wanted to report result, it was as above poster said. Rouer settings, finally found compatible ones after sooo manny roms, modems and other fixes were attempted.

Hello everyone, since I got my cappy I've been delighted by it, it's an awesome phone, even more so when you get to root and update it, now here's the problem: my wifi keeps acting up. First it was the autenticating loop, now my cappy connects but doesn't send or receive any data. I know it's not my router since I have other wifi enabled devices and they can connect and use the wifi properly. Been trying changing from WPA to WPA 2 and auto, no luck. Been trying setting static IP, no luck. It just... sits there connected and not sending. He worked properly in stock, hence I tried going to stock, and then reflashing, no luck.
I used cyanogen and slim bean, with custom semaphore and cyancore, and different basebands (namely ugkg3, tubjv6, bvjjw2) I hope someone can help me on this since this is the only flaw I've encountered so far with this awesome phone.
Thank everyone in advance, and have a nice day.
EDIT: Forgot to add, when I freshly flash a ROM it works perfectly... Until some time passes (around 4 hrs) or until I attempt to download something higher than 20 mb+. Then the issues start.

Wifi drivers are coming from the kernel, therefor, I'd suggest other kernels. If that doesn't work, try another ROM (like AoCP). If the problem still persists, I'd suggest flashing stock KK4 and starting over.
Hey! Thank you for your suggestions, yeah I've been seeing some improvements using unofficial semaphore so I'm sticking to it right now.
God I love this phone. Haha. Thanks again.
Hey guys! I have only just joined XDA Developers so please excuse me if I have posted this thread in the wrong area. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Advance (GT-I9070) running stock Jellybean firmware (4.1.2 ITV) but as you all know the stock firmware for this device is full of bugs and freezes often. I successfully rooted my device and installed Team Canjica's CM10.2 ROM (4.3) from the thread on XDA Developers but the WiFi wasn't working. I then installed Maclaw's CM11 ROM (KitKat) because I thought that might solve the issue but it didn't. Here are the details:
Device scans for nearby wireless routers.
I type in the password for my home router.
Device saves router. "Saved, Secured" message displayed.
I tap on my home router in the list to connect.
Device says "Connecting" for a couple of seconds and then goes back to saying "Saved, Secured".
I browsed through the forums and some users suggested switching WiFi Frequency to Auto and turning off WiFi Optimisation but neither of those methods worked for me. The ROM was installed successfully and all other features are working properly so I don't think that is the issue. And my router settings are also alright since I am able to connect to it from my Nexus 7 (2013) properly. Can someone please provide me with a working solution for this issue? I will start receiving very high data usage bills soon because my data plan isn't unlimited. Thank you!
Is your ssid hidden (not broadcasted) by any chance? i had those troubles on hidden home network. Sometimes it worked after a while, sometimes it didn't. What helped me is to broadcast ssid for a moment, get connected with phone, remove broadcast (it will reboot router so phone will lose wifi for a moment). Then somehow it got connected normally

I just checked my router settings and SSID Broadcast is enabled. I tried flashing OmniRom 4.3 thinking that this may be because of a problem with CyanogenMod but the problem still persists. Is there any additional kernel that I was supposed to install perhaps?
CyanogenMod 11 version ?

Just a detail to those who have not upgraded to JB stock and think it is impossible to use it without problems:
All bugs and freezes in Stock JB currently are perfectly finished.
I use STOCK, only with modified kernel (cocore 8.2) without freezes or bugs in months of use.
Enjoy the developer's work (cocafe), because without it JB probably would be impossible in SGA. However we have JB 100% functional and bug-free.
About KK and WIFI bugs:
The only KK (or based) ROM that used without WIFI bugs was RR 20140313.
In fact, the only issue is incall vol. in my experience.
WiFi Direct, Camera -> Panorama is laggy , Screen Recorder not working Not Tested
I also noticed that the battery is worse durability.
But I went back to JB Stock -- personal preference.

Actually I did try that method. Flashed Samsung's latest stock firmware I9070XXLQL (ITV) and then rooted and installed CoCore. To be honest overall performance was much better and UI smoothness was improved. But after a couple of days of regular usage with just a few basic applications such as a note taker, train arrival time, WhatsApp etc. the device started freezing up a couple of times a day again. I admit it worked much better than before but freezes and hangs were still quite frequent. Running OmniROM 4.3 now with no issues so far except for dialer FC, laggy panorama and non functional WiFi hotspot.

WIFI not working with cm-11-20140521-UNOFFICIAL-janice and cm11.0_janice.nova.201406
Same wifi problem with cm-11-20140521-UNOFFICIAL-janice and cm11.0_janice.nova.20140601. Wifi not connecting even after giving the right password (used to work correctly with jb4.1.2 and still works with desktop) only showing saving and connecting wifi. Then the wifi connection is shown to be saved. If wifi does not work with cyanogenmod11, then what's the use of upgrading?
Is wifi is not working in any custom kitkat Rom?
Please suggest a solution.
Try couple times to connect. I remember sometimes I had to reconnect 2-3 times before it gets connection. And the problem with kernel was about WIFI not turning on at all, it was not even search SSIDs.
