Changed: Greater Market compatability, should be nearly on par with the S7 now
Added: Gmail app
Nov 14, 2011: Initial release
Notes:
Remember to download Superuser off the Android Market!
You are strongly recommended to NOT share your backups, as they contain your user data and device unique data
Boot.img ramdisk mod credit goes to nathanchan
Rom is released now, only known issues are that the google search box does not appear in the top left corner of the home screen and the "shop" button does not appear in the app drawer correctly
Next rom is coming along, new features:
More android market compatability, it's nearly on par with the s7 now
WMV media decoding, it's not available on the stock rom
Missing gapps from s7 that arnt available on market
Possibly 1080p video recording from the rear camera
R2 is released now, changes include supporting playback of WMV videos and more support of market apps, anything you can download with the s7 should be available on the s10 now.
Remember to download superuser from the marketplace to complete the rooting process, it's better this way as it will also remind you of any updates to it!
Can I get some screenshots and is this rom rooted

Says right in the OP.
Thank you.
Will give it a try this weekend.
Cheers
Is it stable?
My updated, rooted, CWM 5, Honeycomb is so stable right now I am afraid of trying a new ROM but at the same time I am very curious. Is everything running smoothly? What is better in your opinion?
Thanks and keep up the good work for us, users. (no idea how you guys do these modifications)
CWM 5? where did you get that?
This is for the streak 10 and not 7, are you sure you're on the right page?
Clockwork Mod 5.0.2.7
You are right. My bad.
Thank so much!!! It would be even nicer if you keep Quickoffice HD pro.
Was quickoffice preinstalled?
I dont recall as I have it though amazon (it was free for a day)
first thank you for making this rom
I would like to know may ics be available to streak 10 pro in the future
either official or cm9
coz I may buy it in a few days
thx in advance
I would imagine ICS would be eventually made available, it's too new to not recieve it.
I would recommend against buying a s10 unless you have specific reasons to get one vs a different tab.
I only got one as a companion to my s5 and s7, there's better alternatives unless they're not available where you live. (All t2 tabs are more or less identical, main thing is rom support)

I live in hong kong and streak 10 pro is selling at about usd 280 in china (where i can easily go across the border to buy it). Before that I have considered Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire (ask my friends to buy from us for me)
Compared to other tablets (samsung SGT 10, asus TF) it is about two third of their price. I would mostly use the tab for web browsing, pdf, ppt and little gaming.
ICS upgrade is not essential for me right ? But I would like to know the support of non-HD 2.x apps on the 3.2 system ? Can they be run on the tab ?
ICS would add very little if you're already on 3.2, it's mainly to bring phones to parity.
For a tablet, ICS can be considered android 3.3. It adds lots of small things, but overall it's not a huge change. I couldnt recall offhand from the release notes or the presentation anything major for a tab, it's either bringing phones to parity or new hardware specific.
Most apps will run fine, i've yet to see one that doesnt work at all (but most of my apps are at least tablet aware and some are HC native apps), worst case you can play with the scaling button and it'll think you have a giant phone.
At least the price is dropping very quickly, it's original MSRP was ¥2999 or ~$370 where you can get a gtab10 for ~$400 on ebay. Under 300 it's reasonable, but you're saving on the rom support. The gtab and tf101 and xoom and the like have massive communities for rom support. But this depends on where you live, as being in HK means you dont really need to import it might be a reasonable buy.
My rom is pretty simple, and yet I dont expect anyone else to make anything more complex, much less release it on xda/somewhere visible outside china.

I bought it in China and quickoffice's preinstalled.
"I would recommend against buying a s10 unless you have specific reasons to get one vs a different tab."
I agree with you!!
I need feedback from users that have installed it, it seems that the install script may be causing install issues as it's flashing back to back and putting in pauses might make it run better.
I have not actually tested the entire install script, I only know that the images it's flashing and the commands are good. BUT I run each line manually so there's always a delay.
I need input from more users in this regard.
if I install Chimeradroid ,after can i return to original stock rom without problems?
must I place extracted content of nvflash and chimeradroid 32, in the same folder?
in your guide..in Upcoming features:
•Long term: Languages available on the Streak 7
this includes italian language too?
how much time you estimate can it be implemented?
I dont currently have any plans to as it's extremely tedious to do so.
There is a script to back up your current rom in the package. You should run that even if you do not wish to install Chimeradroid.
Just out of curiosity, what does everyone want in the next version of Android? I honestly don't know what Google will come up with but judging by the current roll Google has been from Gingerbread to ICS and ICS to JB I am sure it will be pretty awesome.
Honestly? There only one thing. Better battery life and maybe an updated ui. New number means new color at least. Maybe red or built in themes even.
But if they add double the battery life I will be happy.
I also predict built in video chat similar to face time. I know apps have it and Google + has it. But I bet Google will let you choose to call or video chat from the native dialer.
Other than that. I don't know what else it needs. I love 4.2

It's hard to innovate especially when what you can add to a phone has already been invented or added.
I think they need to fix the counterintuivity of the quick settings (double swipe down is useless), fix the awkward lock screen widgets, add in deeper customization (themes, custom quick settings, etc), add in better battery life, make the camera easy to use for everyone, add in all of the emojis instead of like half, multithread FOR the apps, and not make them do it themselves as android phones are becoming multi core and yet not many apps take advantage of it, fix the wifi to data handoff, and redo the God-awful wallpaper cropper.
And would it kill them to make sure each NEW uploaded app is up to the design standards? I'm sick and tired of using apps designed for android 2.1 when I'm running a completely different UI on 4.2.1

Everything you said + multiscreen like the note 2.
I don't want any new features, I want them to work on perfecting what they've already built.
1. Backup and restore management. No more using titanium backup and having to be root to restore app data. Plus knowing how many devices you have so also having the ability to sync your data across devices or not.
2. Merge messaging services. Get rid of Google+ Messenger and get GTalk on the play store. Unification of the messenger app.
3. Integrate Google+ with games, like games centre in iOS. It is optional for the end user to use.
4. More customisation for the toggle on the swipe menu from the navigation menu.
5. There was a person who speed up ICS by 200% by just optimising the Android build. I think he has checked it back into the open source project so basically add that or taking ideas from that which should increase performance and battery life in the OS.
6. Start the availability of Chrome apps to run natively on android. This will reduce fragmentation if Chrome gets on the same release cycle as it's desktop counterparts, you can start build apps with HTML5 and native client therefore application not only can run across devices but also stay upto date. Basically when you launch a Chrome app, it feels you running a normal application, but chrome is running it in the background.

Hi guys,
anyone got an idea why it itsn't possible AT ALL with Android 4.4 to post a picture on Facebook or other sites that allow uploading content?
The maximum reaction i get out of it is "failure opening file",it just doesn't work with any browser (tried Dolphin,Chrome,Firefox,Stock)
This happens on every 4.4 based ROM somehow, can't thank you enough for any input about this matter
edit: 85 views and not a single "yeah,i face the same problem" or "no problem on my side at all",whats up with that
edit2: it tested every 4.4 ROM now,not only CM11&CyanFox.Nowhere is the upload working trough Browser

Google made changes in KitKat replacing webkit with chromium webview and broke file upload, text reflow, etc. Basically web browsing is awful in KitKat, Google is aware but won't revert the changes. The only workaround at present is to use Opera Beta, or Firefox nightlies, there are other browsers with file upload but I would not recommend them at all if you don't want spyware. CM just implemented some changes on last night's nightly to fix file upload, but it's done nothing for me so far, still broken. At least the CM team is aware and willing to fix things.

Maybe they can make it work again on CM

I'd blame developers just as much as Google though. I understand it makes sense for them to use a web engine that Android provides for free and save time and money, but this is what happens when Google breaks something, suddenly 90% of browsers are broken. Firefox uses its own gecko engine and thus is unaffected, Opera shows a bit of spirit and patches chromium to fix these things, on the other hand. And then most people use apps instead of a browser to do things, so if some of us protest, it's not relevant.
Anyway, know that there are lots of complaints over at AOSP, but Google's reply is that these changes are intended and won't be reverted, so that's that.
Edit : "From what I understand the following is what is broken in KitKat webview :"
• text wrap no longer works
• cannot upload files
• cannot save passwords
• cannot force enable zoom
• no inverted rendering
• cannot play Flash videos (broken in 4.3 too)
Woa,the rabbithole goes deeper & deeper.I thought this was a weird bug that just happens with custom ROMS of not officially supported devices but reading that it comes from Google (and they saying "deal with it") pushes this to a whole new level.

KitKat is such a kick in the ... for anyone developing on Android or just using it. Here's another jewel.
It looks like they're trying to restrict more and more things. The very reason many of us choose android over ios....

This whole KitKat issue transforms to a scandal of some sort.If Google doesn`t change its current course,we will be on full lockdown like iOS in 2 or 3 revisions (Android 6 for example). This roadmap doesn`t make me happy at all
Hello there,
Since Android 10 is finally out in final version for our beloved Note 9 Exynos, how many of you are upgrading, and why? Also, for whom will choose to stick with Pie, again, why? And last, for those who are still on Oreo, what are you waiting for?
Personally, I didn't see that much new features that I really want to use right now. Mostly some tweakings here and there in some interfaces, but nothing really new, looks more like a modded version of Pie . I'm not a fan of the new gestures either, I think I'd keep the navbar anyway so... I'm gonna wait a moment before upgrading. And I'm mostly waiting for Swift Installer/substratum/Goodlock compatibility too, can't live without those
The thing I'd like to try out is DeX on PC, but again I don't really have a need for it. I'm more sad to lose Linux On Dex when I'll upgrade.
What are your opinions?

Still no upgrade here ? middle east user N960F/DS
There is no question about should you upgrade or not. Unless you want to keep vulnerabilities, you have to update to the newer OS (if any) to get the latest security fixes.

True. Or to get newer vulnerabilities ?
Will upgrade the second the official OTA drops. I'm a non-root user and have been waiting for the battery limiter feature that's finally present in One UI 2.0.
Edit: No toggleable charging cap in One UI 2.0. It seems the battery limiter means preventing draining your battery too low when using wireless power sharing in the S10 and up.
Waiting for a decent rom like The Galaxy Project to offer it. Only one so far is Dr Ketan's which won't even boot for me despite 3 clean download and install attempts.

Have you updated your bootloaders and modem files to the latest version?
It usually works with the bootloops.
all the best
Except dex on windows and say good bye to linux on dex, nothing really new.
Only one big problem, as samsung block you to revert back to a stable pie os version. Latest pie is a no with bootloader 4.
Its all marketing I see
I received it yesterday in Morocco, I was using VPN (Germany) but I can't confirm, it is a bless, smooth and new features, I tried dex on pc : amazing, I still need to Check the battery
Just a quick update, to tell that I've finally upgraded because the "new update" notification kept showing up and I got bored of it. It went pretty well, and I'm trying to get used to the new gestures after all, I'll see if I can use them nicely. I'm only afraid to be confused when using my older S7E which doesn't have those. I'm using Hexed+ as a replacement for Swift Installer, waiting for the latter to be updated. Also waiting for Goodlock apps to be updated (for example, to put the clock on the right side again).
No upgrade yet i m from The Balkans. Still waiting for the update OneUI 2
No upgrade. i am afraid of battery life. On pie april patch, my phone battery last longer than pie july patch. I am living with it. but i do not want to lose more juice of battery. will upgrade if battery life improves.

Can you confirm what else was working in pie and not working in Q ?
Also give a try with linux on dex.
For clock on right you can use systemui tuner.
Software update notification can be disabled too.

What's not working:
- Linux On Dex (displays an error like "you must be on latest firmware", so I guess it doesn't recognize the phone as compatible anymore, which is the case as I've read - it's a kernel issue)
- Substratum and other overlay systems like Swift Installer (you could still install unsigned overlays on Pie on the Note9 but that's a thing of the past now. Hopefully there's Synergy (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.samsung.theme.compiler) which allows using some overlays by using themes - the Android 10/OneUI 2.0 compatibility is in progress).
- Some SystemUI controls, like the clock position (I've tested it all, even the tips involving right_clock_position)
- Good Lock, which isn't updated yet (and it should solve the clock position problem)
So fat that's the only things I miss on my Pie install. Most of them will simply become available again soon, or can be replaced by other means, so that's not so bad. About the new gestures though, I miss my browser shortcut I had setup with NavStar, and also I kinda don't like the wasted space it introduces to allow for gestures. Well, I'll see when NavStar is updated it I simply go back to the navigation bar (I'll be able to use some gestures with OneHand Operation +).
About Linux On Dex problem, on my rooted S7E I'm using Linux Deploy (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.meefik.linuxdeploy) but on my unrooted Note9 I'm currently trying a combo of Termux (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.termux) and AnLinux (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=exa.lnx.a).
And I couldn't disable the notification, didn't find a way to do it at the time. I guess now it's too late

What about SystemUI Tuner , doesn't let you to move the clock? It's on play store.
For linux like ubuntu kali debian arch parrot fedora manjaro give a try with AndroNix ,same is on playstore.
For navbar, you can get back as in pie from settings.

I indeed tried AndroNix and one of their optimized OS, it's good stuff

Looked for this too, but I always find commands that gives permissions to SystemUI, which doesn't really help If you have something to try out, I'd be happy (but if it involves the keyword right_clock_position I can already tell that it doesn't work)
Do not like an iOS like software experience thanks to Google wanting to copy Apple.

Hi,
I'm already working over 2 years at the N80XX devices (mostly LineageOS) and want to introduce you my version of SlimRoms Slim7.
For sure I want to thank all guy's which were ever working on these devices and also in general at the smdk4412.
I also want to thank the SlimRoms team and @Android-Andi for applying the latest security patches.
I've added some extra functionality like for example wakening up the device when you pull out the pen, back event when you press the pen button,
fast charging for every power supply, working keyboard dock + lineout functioning, signature spoofing for microG, Magisk hide support and much more...
I can't guarantee that there aren't any bugs, so I need you for testing and giving me a feedback.
Spoiler: Not working at the moment
N8020: incoming calls doesn't pop up, outgoing calls + internet (also LTE) are working fine.
HDMI out for all of them, not implemented.
Links:

N8020 Rom
To disable the sec_keyboard for example to play games without any hardware keyboard,
simply flash my magisk module to disable it:
sec_keyboard disabler
If you are going to use Gapps,
I recommend to use the pico package!
https://opengapps.org/
For the others, you can use microG if you want to.
Do you like my work?
Than you can simply hit the thanks button and consider to spend me a coffee or a beer,
I'm doing this in my free time and it also costs a lot of money to buy hardware.

Flying with Slim
My old, beat up 8013 on Slim is absolutely flying! Definitely the best out of the 4 or 5 nougat roms I've tried. ?
A noob question, can I disable the mouse/cursor in drawing apps when the stylus is active? The "pointer" in Developer Options can't toggle it on or off.

Hi,
thanks for testing and the almost positive feedback,
it would be great if you could make a last_kmsg after a reboot happens.
With this we could find out from where the problem does come from.

Thank you for your feedback,
I never thought that the mouse pointer could be desturbing .
There is no way for now, to disable it, but I will take a look at it
so that maybe we can deactivate it in future.
Can't get it installed
A good morning from the Netherlands, I can install lineageOs but I can't install your rom.
Can I flash your rom over lineageOs or is it necessary for a full format/cleanup.... because option 2 doesn't work for me.
Greetings from this side
Good morning,
it is necessary to do a normal factory reset.
Have you checked the md5 sum? Maybe a download error occured.
Tried an other one and yes it works thanks for the reply.
I just bought one yesterday... second hand...for me and my wife.
But maybe a noob question...ps touch and s-note aren't they in the package or am I missing something.
Gr mike
Hi Mike,
S-Note was only buildt for KitKat in the samsung stock firmware,
for this you have to use alternativevs with custom roms.
The pen itself should work fine.
Okay, so I downloaded this ROM.
Overall I'm not a fan, but I gotta give credit where it's due...
This ROM is fast and it doesn't seem to have an MTP bug! It's actually kinda usable.
It also supports Substratum Themes.
But this ROM also has some negatives!
The default browser (Lightning Browser) really sucks. It has a tab limit and tries to upsell you to a paid version. To use your own hosts file in the browser's adblock, you have to pay. There are far better browsers that could of been included instead that doesn't restrict any of it's features. I would of preferred to see Via Browser, Firefox, or Chromium included instead.
The version of Open Camera included seems to be missing features, such as Camera 2 API support (with all the additional adjustments it supports), and 60 Hz anti flickering. It also crashes upon taking a picture.
The default equalizer sucks. It just has a terrible looking UI that doesn't scale for the size of these tablets. The one in Lineage OS at least looked better and allowed saving presets. Additionally, there is no default music player (which Lineage OS did have even if it wasn't that great, you had something you could use).
Other notable missing apps I can remember from Lineage OS include: the screen recorder with voice recorder and the file manager (better than stock Android's).
It seems the stylus cursor does not have the ability to be disabled in settings as well.
Thanks for the hints, I've tried them and it works for me...my wife misses the...you can write on a website and cope send or something like that, it runs like a tablet supposed to do of that age and it's great

Thank you for your feedback.
Which browser would you prefere? I can build every browser with the system.
Just want to mention, it's not LineageOS, its's Slim, this means that there are different apps and many not.
This make's the system as fast as it is.
But I could pack all apps with the system you've mentioned, if you all want this .
For everyone who would prefere a LineageOS can download it here:

Via Browser is pretty small and lightweight, has plenty of features without being complicated, no paywalls, and the source code is available: https://github.com/tuyafeng/Via
...otherwise Firefox.
For a small, but capable music player there is Vanilla Music and 4 addons to add some nice features (like lyrics search, tag editing, cover fetch, and metadata fetch), All for free, no paywalls, not bloated.
It's probably better to download Open Camera from the Play Store and include it, or maybe FDroid? I think those builds may have more of the features.
VLC is great for media playback.
It might be nice if you include Substratum for themes (as it does work) but that's not necessary.
Also searching for Terminal in settings shows a result, but it's not available for enabling. Would love to see that return as an option.
Built-in physical keyboard issue
Hello, html6405!
First and foremost, huge thanks for still maintaining these old devices. This ROM fixed some of the main issues of the other ROMs based on Android 7.1 for my GT-N8000. Namely, the settings app and the MTP service don't regularly crash anymore and adaptive brightness, as well as the night light finally work correctly. However, it doesn't fix one of the problems I've always had with custom ROMs for my device, which is having no ability to toggle off the built-in physical keyboard. While it usually doesn't bother me when using apps, I like racing games and want to occasionally play Asphalt 8. Unfortunately, upon detecting a physical keyboard (no matter even if it's fake) the game completely refuses to give any touch-based controls, and so I am left with an unplayable game.
To make such apps usable, can you either remove the built-in physical keyboard or give an option to disable it in the settings, please?
Once again, thanks for the awesome and stable ROM, and good luck in your developer career!

Hi,
thanks for your feedback, I never thought about this, to disable the keyboard.
The driver is always registered, even if it's not connected.
But when you connect the physical keyboard, a uevent will be sent to the system to recognize it.
In my opinion these games should give us the opportunity to choose how we want to control.
But I will try to find a solution for this!

Ok via browser is good, I will use it for the future builds.
I will try your recommended music players and eventually I will build the terminal with the system.
For the other things I will also take a look at it.
