I have an HTC HD7s from AT&T and I can only update as far as Mango, so I'm missing the Refresh and Tango updates.
Is anyone else able to update to those, or are we all stuck at Mango?
Also, what about the Windows Phone 7.8 update, is anybody able to get that one since Microsoft announced that all Windows Phone 7.x devices will receive a free upgrade to it?
Thank you!

The Tango updates aren't getting pushed out in official updates for the HD7.
To get the Tango updates you will have to either use WP Cab Sender and the Tango update Cabs, The Zune forced update trick or flash a custom rom that has Tango or 7.8 RTM 8858.
As far as the 7.8 update we probably won't see it released officially for the HD7...maybe, only time will tell.
Can I do that on XP?

Is this operation only possible on Vista and up or can I do it on the only XP laptop I have? Or is it just the unlocking that is only possible on Vista and up?
Also, is there any way of updating this phone to windows phone 8 via some sort of jailbreaking or will it really not work due to the hardware specs?
I know Microsoft says it won't work, but maybe you guys know.
Thank you.
(P.S. Do you have a link for the Zune forced update trick? I only got this phone 2 weeks ago and I'm clueless. Thanks!)

First post after such a long time on this site but I thought it would be worth posting this. The NoDo update for the HTC HD7 from O2 is now available. Plugged into Zune this evening and there it was... I'm still in the process of updating as I type this but its finally here!!!
I can confirm this... yippee
Thank god, its like I have been waiting ages and like we are the last to get it
I used Chevron to update it yesterday - but it still has given me an update notification just now when I plugged into Zune - so must be some HD7 specific updates in it too! Battery is too dead to do it now though so it's on charge!
Confirmed; updating now. Good to know you can still get the HTC Specific updates even if you used Chevron. That's what put me off using it, but I'll use it in future!

Same here. After update it still says the same build as before (7390). Not sure, if the firmware, radio or bootloader is the same, i did not noted the previous version number...
EDITED: It looks, that Chevron update was only for OS, but the update from O2 also included HTC stuff... I just checked the version numbers from the ansars new O2 DE nodo ROM files and it seems the same...
Indeed. I previously had on:
RUU_Schubert_O2_UK_1.68.206.03_Radio_5.63.09.13_3a _22.36.50.15
Version is now 1.69.206.01_Radio_5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U
Firmware is newer but Radio version is less. But from what I gather from XDA, lower radio version does not mean newer? Different versions work better in different parts of the world?
I used Chevron Updater, but got the HTC Update this morning, and it has the gradient but that is described here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12690055#post12690055
Hopefully HTC will fix it soon
Just got the NoDo update today via Zune, Unlocked HTC HD7 (O2 UK), even though I didn't receive an update notification on my phone.
At first the intended update showed an error!!!
I had to turn on the System Event Notification Service in Windows 7, it was disabled, got advice from here. (scroll down to last question on the page)

I ended up going to EU unbranded just to make sure I get all the updates right away from now on. Glad 02 finally released it

I have heard about the tool that Microsoft has just pulled out to fix the Walshed Device. You can search it on Bing on Google. Good Luck.
PS: I don't use Walsh's menthod to update so i am not worry about it. If you don't want to use the Microsoft Tools, just simply Re-flash your HD7 with Ansar 7004 ROM, Unlock and then get the Official Update through Zune.
Microsoft said that the Walshed Device will not get the future updates, and i think they are kinda serious about it.
I made a backup back when I switched to Mango just like I was suppose to do. I took the file and moved it to my external HD. I went to restore it yesterday and moved the file back to the 'WIndows phone update' folder. I started zune and it earesed the file. I now have no backup, what happened and what should I do now?
you need to open zune and connect your phone, then move the file back.
Why would you want to go back to NODO now since you have MANGO?
I have moved on to Mango RTM and boy it works just dandy! not going back to ****ty NODO ever
You should always "copy", not "move", when doing delicate operations like this. Then once it copies successfully and you don't run into issues, you can safely delete the old files.
If you don't have a backup, you'll just have to download a ROM for your phone/carrier and start from scratch.
I suggest running an undelete utility on the external drive. It may not be too late to recover the folder.

Well I am 7712 and my phone is locked. I want to be able to get my phone to a state where it will receive official updates from zune. Where should I go from here?
If I update to Mango RTM will I be able to receive official zune updates?
Microsoft had stated that you would need nodo to go to mango, yet the Devs managed to get the Mango RTM installed without any problems.
Regardless of whether you will be able to update official or not the Devs will come out if something or the other.
Also Mango RTM runs flawlessly and I just love it. since its just released to the manufactures will have to wait and see if we can update or not via zune although I feel we should be able to.
MANGO ROCKS!!!

I am going to take your advice. But I would like yo be unlocked. Currently I am at 7712 and locked. How would I get to 7720 RTM and be unlocked? I saw that in the link you posted if you are currently unlocked you can stay unlocked when going to 7720 but you have to be previously unlocked. So what ROM should I flash to in order to unlock my phone? And then move along to 7720?
Never used the setting but I know HTC phones have a unique reset phone in settings?
May sound noobish?
Try doing a hard rest on phone. Hold down both vol rockers along with power buttom. once you get to grey screen with blue text select option to return phone back to stock... not sure if this will help or not, just trying to help
hi there,
I've tried some DFT Mango versions (7713, 7714) on my HSPL HD7 and they're both working great. Altough they're listed as unlocked, I can't install homebrew Apps. Error notifications like Tom XAP Installer's "Please make sure your phone was unlocked!" appear
There are a plenty of comments confirming the functionality of those Rom's, but in my case it doesn't work. Anyone out there having the same issues (and solutions) ?

The roms are unlocked. Try using Xapdeployx or Application deployment(Windows phone developer tools) for sideloading apps. Tom's xap installer no longer works with mango roms
Thank you for your answer
I've tried Xapdeployx and Application deployment, but they both tell me, my phone is locked. I'll look that up, too, but perhaps you can help me one more time?
I worked it out now. I downgraded from 7714 to 7713 again and tried XAPDeployX once more. Fortunately, it installs all my apps without any error thanks
"If you have any of the 0x89xxxx errors, please download the attached "vs_sdeprolightup-enu.zip" file and run it."

How hard is it to install the custom Rom on HD7S? I'm kind of worried with all this hspl rspl stuff I don't really get it! Can someone make a video or maybe a clearer right up? Also does the rom have wifi tether or eve usb tether?
Rom is unlocked, you have to update zune to version 4.8, after that you will be able to install apps
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

I've HSPL'd my HD7S but as far as I know there are no custom roms out there for the HD7S... am hoping someone will try before I risk anything!
Whats the point of HSPL the HD7S? Will this hinder you from receiving the official mango update on 9/23?

I was hoping that someone would cook a Mango ROM that is unlocked... but so far no dice.
My device is running Mango per the update thread that is knocking around... via Zune 4.8 beta etc rather than flashing a new ROM.
Ok,
So all of us HD7s owners know that the Mango update for our device has not been released via Zune yet. Or so we thought. I discovered something yesterday completely by accident.
I had my device on the RTM 7720 up until last weekend. I have other phones and decided to restore my HD7s to stock (i.e. NoDo) and wait for the update. Well, I was missing my WP7 Mango so I tried to reinstall the RTM using the procedure found here on XDA. So, I start doing the following steps:
1) I uninstalled my current version of Zune.
2) I installed the version of Zune that comes with the download for the RTM method.
3) I install the updatewp tool from the Zune version in the last step.
4) I have a dev account and I unlocked my HD7s with the appropriate tool.
5) I perform the first step of the RTM method, which is to run the provision tool included in the download.
6) Start Zune and check for an update. This is where it gets good.
So, everything is moving along at this stage. I see Zune giving me the 7403 update. Zune then proceeds to start updating my phone. After the first update, Zune updates itself. It then begins installing the beta cleanup update. I think to myself, that is strange. The next thing I see is Zune installing 7720 Final version. It never even updated the device to 7712. It went from 7390 to 7403 to beta cleanup to 7720 Final. From what I can tell, I have the final release for the HD7s. I do not have a stock device to compare version numbers though.
I should also point out that I was now able to install the Connected Media app. I was not able to do this with the RTM 7720 version. I am getting an error when trying to use it though, saying "Sorry, your phone is not supported by this application." All other Mango apps I have tried are working though.
Just thought I would share this little tid bit for those of us that are impatient.

Very nice - I was wondering about that. Now if only it can be done w/out dev unlocking...
I imagine this procedure might work with a chevron unlock.

And everything worked fine? No issues with it being an HD7s vs. an HD7? So close to the actual update now... I did try flashing to the Mango beta, but it got messed up along the way and I just re-flashed to my stock backup after a Sunday morning of messing around with the thing.

I think when you say "unlock" in this sense, you mean carrier unlock. From my understanding, the carrier can unlock the hd7s so you can use it on other carriers using sim cards (ex t-mobile in the us, 3 or china mobile in asia). I dont think that will dev-unlock, though. Let me know if that's not the case, because I will definitely be all over it!
Well, we'll see if Mango comes out today for the HD7s, as WPCentral is reporting here: http://www.wpcentral.com/ATT-hd7s-mango-update-starting-today-rumor
