Whenever I select something from the songs collum, whole phone becomes unusable for 2 minutes, song plays, but volume can't be adjusted. I have 32gigs of music, so I assume its putting the rest of the phone on hold while it makes the playlist. Anyone else?

One of the few flaws in the captivate, I think, is the inability to control both the ringer sound and media sound with the volume buttons. Upon searching for a tweak for this problem, I got half a million results, all talking about the button combos used in flashing roms and various modes. If anyone knows of a mod for this, it would be much appreciated, and if not, I'm up to help someone make one.

Volume control widget. But the buttons do ringer when media not playing and when you are playing something you can do media.

not sure what you are asking for because, at any normal time press the volume buttons and it controls Ringer volume. When you play media and hit the volume buttons it Controls Media Volume. press them durring a call and it changes in call volume....
or to change any volume at any time...
Settings>sound>volume
yes but some times im watching a movie or something, and I exit out of it, if I want to play it in a class or in a crowd I have to suffer an awkward moment of loudness before I can turn it down. On an ipod, I can turn all sounds down in a second without worrying about something going off. Maybe its a little picky but its just one of those things that's nice to have

Audio Manager app.
Very weird.
2.3.4 stock(ish), rooted, a2sd, 16gb class 2 card.
Doesn't matter which music app, some tracks get part way thru', and then skip to the next track.
Any ideas? Driving me mad!

it could be corrupted mp3s. It has happened to me before when copying music. Trying copying the songs to your computer and play them there
Does it only happen when you have headphones or a lead plugged in? If so, it could be that the plug is activating the headset controls and skipping, pausing and generally playing silly buggers.
There's a widget called "headset blocker" on the market that sorted the problem for me. It just turns off the headset controls.
If it's not that, I apologise for wasting your time...
Thanks to you both. I'll try both things.

Whenever listening to music with the stock player the music pauses for no reason after a while. Doesn't seem to have a pattern, it has nothing to do with notifications or anything else that I can recognize. This has happened with plugged in earbuds and with a bluetooth headset so I'm guessing it's not the jack's fault.
I searched around but found nothing specific to this device, is anyone else having an issue like this? I haven't really tried using other music players, although I think it happened once with Winamp too.
On a side note, is there anyway to make a bluetooth headset control playback for programs other than the stock player? For example if I'm using Winamp and I press Next on the bluetooth headset, Winamp will pause and the stock player will start playing, really annoying. I wouldn't mind using the stock player if it worked correctly.
Not being very useful, but i have exact the same issue

have you flipped your phone over?
Did you set your CPU speed too low?

I have the turn over motion disabled but I did activate the CPU Power Saving option. Do you think that could be the reason?
It could be since sometime when i set the CPU below 500 mega hertz the music stops occasionally when the screen is off. Just try to set above 500.

Well I disabled CPU power saving and I'm trying a different music player. Haven't experienced any weird pauses. Hopefully that was the problem.
Hello all. I recently had a weird problem with the buidt in music player. I was listening to some music, but suddenly it started to switch songs VERY quick, like 2 songs per second. I tryed to restart the app, and the phone, but with no effect.
Have ant if you experienced anything like this ?

When the headphone jack is being used to play music
In either my car by Jack lead or in ear headphones in get a regular "pop" while the music is playing.
Approximately five seconds apart.
I have turned headphone settings to general, clear audio on and off, still persists.
It's the same with the Walkman app also with poweramp, would an app be causing this in the background and ifso how would I find out which one?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the suggestion, still the same as before at all volume levels.
When I say a pop that's not quite correct, it's more like a half second drop in sound.
