Well, I can tell you that if it turns on, it's not bricked.
As for a fix, look at oostah's thread : here to find out how to run the RUU via fastboot (.. Should be in that thread)
After you get the ruu to run, you'll be back to stock. Then you can try to root again.

it returns it completely back to stock. so yes, if they're not synced with google.
Sign into your gmail account and view your contacts > located right below the GMAIL icon on the left side. if they were synced then they'll all be there...if they're not then that makes this situation a little more difficult
Do you have adb installed? I'm not particularly familiar with the Regaw rooting tool, so I'm not sure if it's required
Sent from my Android using Tapatalk
no damn it wont even connect to the computer
Did you check to see if your contacts are backed up on google or not?
And you never said if you have adb or not...
Does booting into the bootloader work? VOL DOWN + POWER
As I see it, you have 2 options:
1) regardless of whether your contacts are backed up or not, you can try the RUU zip/fastboot method I posted previously. if it works, you'll at least have a working phone
2) if your phone is new, you can bring it into your service provider (sprint) and see what they can do
**note** with the 2nd option, I'm not sure whether they'll be able to tell if you're rooted/tried to root or not. Someone else would have to chime in for that.
Sent from my Android using Tapatalk
Edit: if you do have adb, you can have your phone connected to the computer and run "adb logcat" to see if it's actually doing something while it's hanging on the HTC screen
no google or adb can you help me do the logcat plz b4 i go back to stock?
Go here for information on how to install/setup adb > LINK
After it's set up, just boot your phone normally, have it connected to your computer and do the "adb logcat" command - just like you'll do "adb devices" on the adb link I gave you.
You'll be able to see if things are loading, or if it's just sitting there doing nothing.

Use latest HTC drivers and don't forget to remove HTC Sync if installed. Also try another usb port and another usb cable.
I have installed latest drivers through HTC Sync then UNinstall HTC Sync software
Use 2 different Data cables. Tried different USB ports but every time i attach HTC Incredible S computer can't find any Android Device in device manager. On the other hand when i attach HTC sensation Device manager recognise the android device.
if i cant solve this problem then my guess is that every time i try to run RUU i will get Error 170 so please help me out guy ....

Can you still get to the HBOOT menu? If so, does the device show up if you select the FASTBOOT option on the HBOOT screen?
It should change the screen to FASTBOOT USB mode.

If so, yes I would go ahead and try running the RUU again.

Well you could put it into HBOOT USB mode and try running the RUU again and see if there is any difference.
when i go for HBOOT USB mode i get
ERROR [120]: MAIN BATTERY POWER
This error message will appear when the Android phone’s battery power is not sufficient (Batter power should be more than 30%). Although RUU will instruct you to plug in the AC adapter, it will still need to make sure that your Android phone has enough power to complete the update. (The Android phone cannot charge the battery when it is connected to the PC while installing the RUU).

Can some one please provide me ROM.zip file only ?
The method is worth a shot.. the Rom.zip file will be here when u are running the RUU.. just copy/paste it on desktop in the process
c:/your user name/appdata/local/temp and search rom.zip

I had something like that before when I tried to go back to stock. Basically I flashed the RUU, got rid of cwm recovery and all that, and I ended up getting stuck on the HTC logo white screen, with it refusing to boot.
I ended up going back to cwmr and a custom ROM.
So maybe the best way for you to be able to use your phone would be to go and put a custom ROM on it. However mine was S-OFF so it was easy for me to flash recovery again, I've forgotten how to go S-OFF from S-ON but you should be able to do it without booting.
However I would also know how to go back to stock.
Yea you can use PG32IMG.ZIP method.
If still not , Unlock your bootloader and install a custom rom.
I will use this method once i get back home
run the ruu again in pc.. and extract the rom.zip from temp folder in pc.. it will be in c drive-your user name-appdata-local-temp and search rom.zip.. rename it to PG32IMG.ZIP make sure its not PG32IMG.ZIP.ZIP

Hey I think I just bricked my device..
I had CM7 on my incredible s and just wanted to install the new official ICS, because I wanted to sell it.
So I downloaded the following RUU:
http://d-h.st/7UC
Everything finished, the phone booted and got stock at the HTC logo..
I had to leave for 1hour so i just let it on the htc logo.
When I came back home the screen was black and i couldn't turn it on.
When I plug in power the Led flashed 1 time orange and turned off again.
When I connect it to the pc via usb, I hear the usb plugged in sound on my pc but it doesn't show the device..
adb doesn't show the device when i put "adb devices"
Can anybody help me out?
I really need your help!!
Thank you very much!

I was trying to restore back to stock and followed the directions completely. After over and hour plus the onscreen message kept saying it was sending the ROM files to the phone its pretty clear it wasn't. So now I am stuck in the Bootloader with no ROM image at all. My Win8 computer suddenly won't recognize the device, I have removed and re-installed the drivers that worked before and get nothing.
I am on my wife's Win7 computer and I still cannot get the device to be recognized with the current drivers installed. The only thing I can do is power down my HTC One and reboot in the Bootloader - Fastboot.
I could use any help urgently.

Have you tried flashing a recovery in fastboot?
The command is fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Flash a custom recovery and then install a custom rom through it.That should make your phone usable for the moment. When you have time again you can try going back to stock.
I have heard these things recommend by others:
- Be sure you have the latest drivers. Download HTC Sync if need be, and sure to reboot your PC, then allow enough time for the phone to be recognized.
- Try a different USB port.
- Power down phone by simulating a battery pull by holding down the power button for up to fifteen seconds, then reboot into recovery by pressing the volume down key as the phone restarts.
Good luck!

I have USB 3.0 but no joy on any of my ports. On the phone with HTC Support they are USELESS. The only thing they can offer is to reload the OS by replacing the motherboard and that takes 2 weeks and $200. There has to be a better way.

i'm using xp on all 3 of my computers. my one x connects fine. i all drivers installed including adb.

Ok i have looked at the device id and it comes up with this in fastboot USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\5&4091F22&0&2

Uninstall HTC sync and drivers. Reconnect phone, and it should automatically re-install sync manager and drivers. If it does not, however, you need to manually install the drivers. Also, make sure your drivers are up to date. Installing the android sdk might not be a bad idea either.
Thanks for the reply. Tried everything even fresh pc setup . Something in my phone is wrong and cannot get any recognition from it . It shows usb fastboot then changes to ac charging . I have checked in usb drivers and that id is not there so it will not let me install manually either.

Maybe a factory reset of your phone would help. I know that's a hassle, but it might reset or reconfigure whatever was lost or corrupted along the way.
Have done that thanks. Flashes different roms also .. can a different firmware be flashed through terminal emulator. Cannot even mount phone storage through usb. It just keeps alternating between unknown device and nothing.

Wow. Here's a hail mary then. Let the battery run out. Download stock RUU. Connect to PC, and see if fastboot usb comes up. If yes, boot into recovery, and flash RUU. Start from scratch.
I did try that to be honest. Is there anything special I need to know about doing that ..do I let the phone charge fully or anything before I try fastboot. Thanks for your help.

No, let the battery drain completely. Then reconnect it. As soon as anything on the phone shows up (normally the charging sign) get into bootloader. Boot to recovery and flash the RUU. Of course, it's all contingent on recovery being able to read usb, which it should (recovery uses different port and drivers than boot or oem).
Thanks I will give that a go. If that doesn't work is there an update.zip or img I can flash through hboot that will return the phone to stock. ?

If that doesn't work, you could try downloading a zip of your stock, renaming it update.zip (or anything.zip, really), and flashing that. But I'm pretty certain that you'd have to use adb to flash that through recovery too. Good luck with it all, and I hope you get back on track!

To test this, plug your usb cable into the wall charger and see if it charges. If it does, it's working. If not, if you have another micro usb cable, try that. If it still doesn't work, then I would contact HTC about what your options might be (new phone, new usb cable, etc.). Good luck.

Connect the phone to your pc. Cycle through all the different boot modes, boot, bootloader, and recovery. Do you hear any sound from the pc indicating it's picking up a device? If so, it's working, it's just not showing up while in android connected to pc, which would indicate an issue with drivers on your pc. If a sound happens during boot to recovery, leave it on recovery and get into adb mode on pc and attempt to flash the RUU. As soon as it's flashed completely, disconnect it from pc, completely uninstall ANYTHING having to do with HTC, android or 3rd party drivers. Then, reconnect the phone to your pc, and see if it auto installs the drivers and shows.
I have tried everything you have suggested . Even fresh install of xp on pc . Then installed htc sync from htc website . Plugged phone in , but still won't recognize phone . I get no usb connected icon on phone either . It just charges and get usb malfunctioning error on pc . I cannot use external usb drive on phone either . The phone recognizes it as a charger with an error saying that the charger has a fault . Thanks for your help so far .

Well, I can't think of anything else that would help. I think you should contact HTC and see if they've had other issues similar to yours, or if they can help you, but it sounds like your phone's usb is defective. If your phone came unlocked, you should be able to send it and receive a new one. Other than that, I really have no more suggestions. Best of luck.
