I downloaded the newest Swype beta and installed it ok, but when I try to swype it says "The Swype package you installed is configured for another device and will operate with limited functionality. Please contact Swype about this issue." I can type individual letters though.
Anyone else having this problem?
I'm running Tazz Froyo 5 right now btw. Thanks in advance for any help!

Someone I know had this same issue on an Eris running KaosFroyo (V38 I think) and just ended up going back to the older version. The only advice I can give is you go back to the older version as well.
I've had this issue before. Can't remember how I fixed it though >.<
Have you tried reinstalling with autokiller/taskkiller off?
This happens to many people every time they update. Go into settings and uncheck Swype. Uninstall Swype and the Swype installer. Reboot Phone. Then redownload Installer and install all over again. It should work. Swype recommends clearing your home screens of all widgets too before the reinstall but I have never had to do that. Good luck.

That happened to me also. I had to uncheck swype from the keyboards menu, uninstall swype and the installer, go to the downloads folder and delete any previous swype download files. Then make sure you are installing to internal memory in the cyanogen applications menu. After that i rebooted and went through the installer download and install and the swype download and install. After you install swype wait a second or two for the web browser to reappear and an option to enable swype should pop up. Part of my problem was that I was moving the apk to my system\app folder before it was installed.

What do you mean wait for browser to come up?
After I download and install from the installer, it apparently installs then goes to the done screen. Is the browser supposed to come up after? Or do i need to press done first? If I press done I get an error that swype is already installed, which I'm sure nothing is, and it doesn't work after. It looks like it might be a known bug on swypes forum.
This is what happens every time I try to use the installer and why I always have to install a hacked version. Guess I'll just have to wait for a hacked one of the new version...

How I fixed it was to unchecked the swype keyboard in the language menu uninstalled it then wiped the swype installer information

I tried everything under the sun to get the installer to work, nothing does. It looks like this is a known issue with swype and there is no work around for me.
I just found the new version floating around google and used that one.

This comes straight from one of the Swype reps on their beta forums.
For anyone getting the “Configured for another device” error, please make sure that when you hit “Done” after Swype finishes installing, you wait for the “Enable Swype” window to appear.
DO NOT press the “back” button when you see the “Start Download” button again. The license file is being generated at the time, and exiting the installer will kill the license download.
I had this exact same problem, and this fixed it immediately.
That doesn't work for me. Either hitting the back button our done button results in the same error. Swype is already installed. Once I enable swype, then I get the configured for another device error. Is apparently a known issue with no work around and why I always just use unofficial copies. Less hassle.

what i did was went in to astro and went into the titanium backup folder and deleted everything with swype in it. Then went into settings and unchecked the "unknown sources" checkbox in apps then downloaded the latest swype via the downloader and it worked.

I have no idea how you managed that. If I uncheck unknown sources in the applications menu it does not allow me too load the installer because its not from the market.
I have also used root explorer to eliminate every trace of swype off my system and sd card to no avail.

Most recent is "Swype 2.15.56.14870". (They consider 15 higher than 4 even though it's after a decimal point.)
I just got my Google Music invite and I'm in the process of uploading my library. While I was waiting I tried to install the Google Music app on my N1. It downloads, then tries to install itself and then I get the message Installation unsuccessful. Application cannot be installed in the default install location. My phone is completely stock. Not rooted or anything. It's running 2.3.4 GRJ22 with Launcher Pro. What's going on here?

It probably needs to be installed in /system/apps which is where the original is located. Without it coming to you from Google Ota, I am not sure how to move the file without root.
I wonder why it would be available to download from the market if that was the case.
Just give it a few tries. Mine is installed in /data, and it works fine...
Make sure that your default install location is set to internal or automatic (I think that is an option with stock Gingerbread). I remember reading that this failed if you had it set to install things to external.

I was thinking this was also in a stock install. I guess it is a CyanogenMod only thing. I'd guess this isn't your problem if you don't even have the option to change.
Good. I noticed you found the other post that I had seen about this. (I had the hardest time trying to find that, because I wanted to reference it for this thread.)
But for others, plug your phone into the usb and make sure you have adb set up (this isn't the place for a tutorial, there are lots that can be found through google). And make sure USB Debugging is turned on. Then enter this command on your computer.
Code:
adb shell pm setInstallLocation 0

Thanks Rod3, I was having the same problem not being able to install from the market. As it turns out I had my Installation Location set to "External". After changing the setting to "Internal", Google Music was able to install.
I'm using CM7.

2. I can not instal any app from the Google Play market. Always the same warning: THE PACKAGE FILE IS INVALID!

I'm not facing any problem with Google Play Store. Try flashing LiquidSmooth V1 again, wipe data/cache/dalvik and then reboot. You may want to check if you have full root as well. You can also try downloading LiquidSmooth V1 file again, in case your file is not complete or corrupted.
I have tried to flash it 2 or 3 times already. I will download it again and try.
What do you mean, if I have a full root?
I had a googleplay problem like this, but after wiping all data and cach and flash rom it got solved ,for program fc i dont know but wipe may help too

I dowloaded the file again, and the problem stays the same. And always problems with network connection while I'm on the WEB.
Than I installed theme Bl00dy SandwitcH for Liquid V1, and Google Play works perfect. Don't know why... but Hope everything else is working...
Thank you...
Grrrrrrrrrrr......
After one day, the problem is back. Did a restart and clear devilk/catch - the same...
Does anyone have any idea?
try installing and flashing MrDsl's mixer theme. It uses a different coded market. If you don't like the overall theme, then just extract the market only apk and install that. With programs that fc, do you mean if you go to any apps, it comes up as system.ui fcs? If so, you need to enable a 4th soft key button as a menu button. Go to liquid control settings>navigation>where it says "navigation bar buttons, number of buttons" select 4. Then select the 4th button as menu button
Yesterday I discovered, that i can download apps from Google Play only with WIFI.
Today I changed setting for the internet in Access Point, and now I can download normally. Authentication type wasn't set.
I hope, that was the problem with my internet also, because was working, not working....
About FC I will change and see - it was like that: I downloaded apk file from xda, click on it from the pull down menu - FC. Than i went to the app Downloads, from there was OK.
Thank you
I too have a very weird google play problem with LiquidSmooth V1
some simple apps that i used two days ago are now not compatible anymore ( after a new Liquid install ) its doesnt make any sense... i can download from play but a lot of apps are missing and filtered out from search. When i try to install those apps from play via a desktop it sais not compatible. And yes i did a full wipe cache, data etc... any ideas?
If wiping play store data, reflashing liquid rom with wipes, or flashing the two themes that are available don't work, then your best option is buying lcd density monitor pro from market and using the market fix. It downloads and installs a modded market depending on which ever density you are on. This way is actually almost guaranteed to fix market problems.

if your mobile is rooted download root explorer then go to data\app then delete it from there .... and you didnt find it there you will find it in system\app and delete it from there and make a restart and you may re-install it
Or search in play store for root uninstaller, those apps can uninstall system apps.
But rootexplorer is the best file manager.also for modifying flashable zips like roms or theme where u want to delete or add apps in the rom.just extract and zip it up when u are finished modifying the rom.
If u delete the apps directly from system/apps then use "SDmaid"(app from play store) to clean out crap, leftovers from apps u delete.
thanks for quick reply , after getting root explorer on and changing permissions for solid explorer i finally managed to delete it
but now it will not install from Play...it says "error - incompatible update ?
shall i just stick with root explorer ?

reflashing is not the solution . try oi file manager it is awesome
will do !
thx again for your time
Yeah, stick with rootexplorer, clearly the best, oi manager is also good, but in my opinion it lacks some of the features rootexplorer got.
If u want an innovative filemanager, then try androexplorer, there is a free version without root and zipping, but u get the idea what it's about with the free one and read on how to use it. I use it for moving files around.
haha guess wot..... elite 1.3 came out yesterday so i updated & flashed and OI is now the new file manager

Hi everyone,
I would like to install sony apps on my Xperia SP running aicp (no tangerine kernel). Problem is, apks won't install (app cannot be installed).
As far as I learned, it is because you have to disable signature verification, which I tried thanks to the thread on sont cross device development and with lucky patcher.
The two mehthods above had failed. When I restarted my device with the modified services.jar or the patches, it rebooted, started, then kernel adiutor says "applying settings on boot". When it finishes, device restarts again and keeps restarting until i delete lucky patcher or reinstall the original services.
now my question is, do you guys know a fix for this? Is it kernel's fault? Should i download tangerine? Is it because of kernel adiuitor? Are there other ways to install on cm?
Please respond, and thank you for reading!
Kind regards,
Deleunes254

Lucky patcher itself? No i only installed lucky patcher apk, enabled it in xposed, restarted but then things happened. For the services.jar method, I set permissions to rw-r--r-- as told. Is it a fault maybe in my cellphone? @flash- maybe if i later cleaninstall Aicp10, which I probably have to clean install, and I do a clean whipe, maybe it would then work? :/ It's a reaaally strange bug and don't know how it's happening :/ google wasn't my friend this time :/

You don't need to reflash the ROM to remove system apps. Either go into the /system/app folder with a file explorer with root permissions & delete the apk or folder containing the apk or use something like Sys app remover to get rid of it. Just tried installing Music via adb and although I was successful, the bloody app refused to start. You know the standard Android "unfortunately, app has stopped working blah blah" nonsense. Used ES File Explorer to remove it.
Also dirty flashing probably won't help since it leaves what you installed as it is and you installed these apps. So either do a clean installation or remove them like I mentioned.

You mean just copy paste the apk in system/app folder with ES and change permission to rw-r-r? Did that and also tried it with adb but no luck. Same old "unfortunately, music has stopped" crap. Might have to try the other way now - flash the ported apps and update them via playstore.
Is it working for you properly? From where and which version of Music did you install?
