[Q] Need help completely wiping my phone. - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I rooted my phone a while back and put faux123's custom kernel on it.
Anyway, now that h8's CM10 ROM looks pretty good, I tried that out, but I'm having several issues. I'd like to just start over, but I think I'm wiping it wrong. I have WCX installed as my boot loader. Can anyone just run my through the steps to completely start over?

Boot into recovery. Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe data. Flash rom, flash kernel (boot.img) via fastboot. You should be ok after that.

WCX recovery doesn't flash jellybean properly. Try using a different one.

Lol what? I've never had anything on my phone other than wcx recovery... smh

I agree with homeslice... What are you talking about? I have always used wcx recovery and NEVER had problems with any JB ICS or GB rom sense or senseless or AOSP
No troubles at all....

What? Where are you guys coming up with this stuff?
The only custom HBoot for our device is the junoptbear (sp?) custom hboot that you see temporarily during the s-off process. Other hboots are from HTC RUUs

Sine I am banned for not contributing... I can't find it... but I am 90% that he wrote his own hboot...
Comes as a wcxhboot.zip and is found on the first page of the topics where he releases his ROMs...
I could be wrong... but that's what I remember
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2

That's the name of the zip. Its the ICS bootloader (and I believe the zip was still called ph39img.zip)

Everybody on irc pointed me away from wcx saying it was glitchy and never worked haha. Sorry!!

[Q] hero bootloop cyanogen 6 & N1 gapps

help?
I successfully rooted and added the CyanogenMod 6.0.0 to my htc hero. It seemed to be working fine, but without any Gapps. I then attempted to add N1gapps and now am in an endless cyanogen screen - stuck. I know I screwed up, I'm new to this stuff, though experienced with computers. I have tried reinstalling, including deleting the N1gapps from my sdcard and redownloading the cyangoenmod 6.0.0 I used the Universal Android app to root and Rom manager.
I don't know what to try next.
Update: I had the good sense to back up before I did the change, so I reverted to the original and reinstalled.. successfully. Now I'm just a little hesitant to jump in and screw something up again. From what I've read, I should get GApps as;
gapps-mdpi-20100917-signed.zip
Is that correct?
Also, having read for the last 4 hours or so, I apologize if this is posted in the wrong spot, and for my lack of such knowledge.
Yea flash that one and you should b good to go & remember always nandroid backup good luck oh and u might wanna take that backup and make a copy and put it on your computer so you'll always have it

success! thanks for the assist. One maybe odd thing.. when I installed ROM manager and tried to reboot, pressing the power/home key didn't work for me, I found pressing the power/volume down key works.
That could b the recovery ur using although I'm not 100% sure but I use RA 1.6 try reflashing your recovery or try RA good luck

I'm going through the same issue on my wife's n1.....however I accidentally erased the backup....is there anything that can be done.
PS. I've wiped....reinstalled etc. And still the boot loop

Well I would definitely try Clockwork, because from what I understand, it does the best job of wiping. In the worst case scenario, you may just need to get your N1 back to stock and retry from there if you wish.
Would you be able to post up some links? ?....my wife is still pretty pissed lol....

lol, I imagine..
A quick google search got me this as far as stock ROMs go: http://android.modaco.com/content/g...es-zip-online-kitchen-optional-root-insecure/
(keep in mind I don't have an N1, so I'm not an expert at it by any means when it comes to ROMs, etc. Speaking of, if you haven't already, you might want to post about this in the N1 forums here on xda. Obviously they'll know about your problem than me.)
Once you have the rock ROM and you're rooted, download ROM Manager from the market to get the Clockwork Recovery.

slap, there hasnt been another recovery released that i am aware of.
ver 2 of my CWM root was only to root via CWM, it doesnt replace recovery.
This is my first htc and Im not even sure how to flash anything using fastboot. Im so used to booting into cwm recovery and flashing from that. I know there isn't a recovery already built for the vivid but if someone could point me to the right thread on how to get into the recovery Im accustomed to Im sure I could figure the rest out

But my fault, I forgot what I wrote in my own thread! imitenotbecrazy, go to the thread that Pirateghost specified, read up on everything. Also, I have written down some things just in case you have that backup issue. Try this...
- IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH BACKING UP, pull the battery, boot back into recovery (power + vol down then select recovery) and try again. OR you may have to boot up and delete the old partial backups with a file explorer and try again. OR make sure your USB is no longer connected and try again.

Yes i can. But nothing else :/
Try re flashing the recovery. Find the file somewhere and in fast boot usb in the bootloader flash it with a command prompt. You can find more precise instructions around the forums, but if you can get into recovery you can flash another ROM and should be okay from there. I had a bunch of problems with holics too.
Edit: you might be semi-screwed though. If you can't get it usable through re flashing the recovery you might have to re-lock the bootloader and run an RUU.

I believe i tried to do that. I tried Clockwork recovery and also some i had laying around my computer. I actually re-locked the bootloader then unlocked it again. Im not quite sure what the RUU is, maybe I'm just spacing it out. Anyways, I'm sure somewhere I've miss stepped and could have fixed it. I don't care if i lose data, id just like to use my phone again
Try flashing wcx's recovery. CWM gave me nothing but problems.
The RUU is the factory image that the phone shops with. Just google "xda forums vivid RUU" and you should be able to find it from there. Just follow he instructions in the post and that'll return you to stock. Then you can re unlock and re root from there.

Especially since the thermal daemon doesn't seem to work on these phones, or at least with some of the custom ROMs, so it's possible that if you overclock and overheat, the phone won't protect itself. Just something to consider.
I think if you remove the underclock (these phone come stock running at 1.2GHZ, but it's a 1.5GHZ processor! You can safely run at 1.5 all day long no sweat. I've been running it at 1.5 since day one. Things are plenty snappy at 1.5 in my opinion. YMMV.

It's mostly the handful of sensation ports floating around that have that issue IIRC. The ones based off of the holiday framework are usually okay.
Is there something specific you've gotta do to remove the underclock or is it just setting the kernel to what you want it in the setup?
And yeah, at 1.5 this phone is an absolute beast.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
I am pretty sure there are changes in the kernal code that need to be made to allow you to set the CPU speed. I believe the min-max limits are established in the kernel code, and then the running freq is determined by config file(s).
That's why with some kernels you are stuck with one freq, while others are variable between different ranges. I think the kangbang kernel is 2.0GHZ, while some others are 1.8 or 1.7.
It would make sense for the thermald problem to only be happens on Sensation ports, as the thermald.conf still has a note in it about being from the sensation (and modded by good ol' mike1986 himself). I think the problem must extend past the conf file though, because the only difference is in thermal thresholds (mike's version allows the phone to run a bit hotter).
I gotta remember one of these days to replace the thermald exe with the one from the stock rom and see if it will then work...
When it's not working, it constantly polls and poops junk out to the log, and eats up battery like it's going out of style.

Fastboot erase cache command should fix your problem. After that you should be able to boot into recovery after flashing a new recovery.

[ROM][FRUITCAKE] en.UK Stock 2.3.4 ROOTED - Made With ROM Factory

It appears that the package is broken. For the time being I have no way of remaking it. I hopefully soon will be able to make it again.
The other day I managed to get my hands on a UK ATRIX that was still running the official 2.3.4 rom (T-Mobile I think) so I stuck ROM Factory on it and made a fruitcake of it for your enjoyment.
As always with custom ROMs I am not responsible for anything you do to your device, you don't have to flash this if you don't want to!.
Also this is the first time I have used Rom Factory to do anything and I am completely unable to test it as the phone I made it from has an locked bootloader (does this matter?) so again flash with caution.
Features:
Rooted
No Webtop (Sorry )
Up to date Apps including super user
Here's a mirror on 4shared if anyone needs it

What more do you need? It's a prerooted stock UK ROM. Plain and simple.

Yup. It is exactly that. It has no unique features other than the fact that it is the stock UK ROM that went missing at the same time as all of the file sharing websites in the form of a fruitcake.
Has anyone tried it to see if it works? I still have to phone (locked bootloader & It's not mine) I made it from (though not for much longer) and can have another go!
Thanks, I'll try it when I get back home.

Tried this yesterday. Had CM7 latest nightly running. Did a full wipe and clean install. But unfortunately, it kept booting into CM7 (not the one I had before flashing). I anyways tried logging into my Google account and the setup wizard force closed every time I tried. Had to revert to my previous setup
Not sure if I did anything wrong, I know the usual drill of installing custom ROMs.
Did anyone else give a try?

Very odd issue... Is it because the device I made it from has a locked bootloader? You say that the rom didn't flash (or did but not properly) what did the install script in CWM say?
Sorry I don't have the device any longer so I won't be able to do anything with re making the fruitcake :crying: as I have had to give it back.
PS I have sent you a PM with the original rom link in it, may be that the one on the mirror is corrupted.

The script said that the flash was successful. Also it said that I should not forget to wipe cache and data, which I did anyways. No errors in the install script.
Not sure if the zip had the original ROM, coz it was booting into CM7, which is obviously not what you are trying to do. I did a full wipe, 3 times, so I guess there is no possibility for it to boot into my previous installation of CM7 nightly.
I saw your PM. Thanks. I will try today if I get some time off work and let you know.

To the OP what are you trying to do? Please elaborate more. Did you flash a rom and only flashed the WCX recovery? Wildchild always provides the boot.img with his roms that need to be flashed via fastboot regardless if you are S-Off. Are you rooted? I would not flash a recovery until you can confirm root.
