Ok so I'm still very new to all the Droid Rooting scene and I have a question.
I want to flash Steel Droid 9 to my droid but it says it is updated to 2.3.7 base. Do I have to update my android to version 2.3.7?
(currently 2.2.3)
Are you using a stock ROM? You might want to follow the Cyanogenmod Full Update Guide for the Motorola Droid in orde to change ROMs.
Replace instances of the cyanogenmod rom to the steel droid 9 zip you have.
And no, you don't need to update your current Android version to 2.3.7 as the ROM takes care of it.
Disclaimer: I haven't tried flashing to a Motorola Droid.
Good luck!
Hello everyone,
I've a little question. After searching through the forum, I found 2 kernels (Quasar and Nova) but I don't think the work on GB (2.3.4). So, my question is simple: what kernel can be flashed over a rooted 2.3.4 official ROM?
Thank you in advance.
well... quasar kernel is for froyo [nova ROM] and nova kernel is for GB but only for cm7 which is 2.3.7...
I think Huexxx made a kernel but since I'm not using Zeus ROM I'm not sure, you should go to DEV section to take a look
Regards
There is non yet for stock GB. Except you extract the one from Zeus Rom and flash it to your phone. You only need android kitchen for this
Hi guys I have a 2.3.3, Baseband UGKG3, and kernal is 2.6.35.7-19000ugkg3
How do I root this so I can install Jellybean? I've seen a few tutorials but they seem outdated with older kernals.

Click to collapse
first you must upgrade to GB 2.3.6, and than root with CWM by flashing a semaphore kernel, than upgrade to ICS , only after that upgrade to Jelly bean (follow instructions from the ROM thread, you wish to use)
you can use the downgrade GB 2.36 on recovery kit, in My Android collections link below to do that
Hi im currently on
Android 2.3.5
HTC Sence 3.5
Software 1.0.5.401.4
And am a little confused as to what to update to...?
Just want Root and latest Android version if possible.
Then you will need :
Unlock bootloader via htcdev
flash a recovery
root phone
not needed but most safe way :
flash s-off that fits your hboot version
then go into my thread for the Runnymede AIO tool there is a guide for doing it, and two links to two diffrence rom that will be the most safest way to flash them before flashing a custom rom.
aftter that you can go into dev section and download a sense 4 or sense 4.1 rom , then you will have the newest edition for our phone.
Everything can be done from my tool, just not flashing rom
Thanks for the help.
Now running RunElite ICS 4.0.4 Sense 4.1 BETA v1.5
Hi all!
A friend of mine has an Optimus 2X that she got from her university. She has to develop an unity app which works with 2.3 APIs so she needs a Ginger Bread ROM to use these APIs. Since she has a Nexus 4, she already has the newest JB version to test the app on newer devices. This is why she explicitly wants a Gingerbread ROM, and nothing newer. Could anyone give a guide on how to install a Gingerbread ROM and which of them is the best for this purpose?
Information about the current installed version:
Model number: LG-P990
Android version: 2.2.2
Baseband version: 1035.21_20110218
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-dirty
Build number: FRG83G
LGE Version LGP990-V10b
Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated!
Smirny
EDIT:
Since the phone belongs to the university, she cannot unlock the bootloader. Also, the software update within Android itself says that there is no new version available. Is it still possible for her to upgrade to a GB ROM, maybe even a stock one?
Search for Homero2 thread and download on phone SD card his nvflash 20S rom.
Download on PC the All In One Tool 5.6 in Dev section and follow the guide of the operation requested before nvflashing the 20S rom.
Edit: you can update to GB stock LG without unlocking the phone.
Link to LG 2x support site, download and install drivers, connect 2x to pc, start the LG Update on PC and follow the instructions.
