Been using a Kingston 1GB SD card for the last 4 months with no problems at all, until yesterday .
I was downloading the a file from the internet via GPRS directly to the SD card. The browser locked up the PPC so I had to reset it. Now the card is completely dead, whatever device I put it in.
What have I learned from this?
1. The XDA 2i kills SD cards if it is reset whilst writing to the card.
2. Don't use flakey apps to write to the SD card, or download from the internet directly to the SD card!
yup my xda2i killed on of my sd cards as well can't read it on any device
same card same problem ... later some freeze and soft reset my sd kingstone 1gb is missing and also winxp don't format!!
i have seek this utility to format my sd and now all run good!!

Help,
After i flashed my KAISER i have a problem. The sd card is not recognised anymore. Is there a solution for this problem?
I hope so, otherwise i have a brick
Storage card problem
I always used a 4 gig card, just tried an 512 mb card, and that one was recognised. Strange isn't it?
First, which method did you use to flash your new ROM?
If you used the USB method to flash your new ROM, did you remove your SD card during the flash process?
If you used the SD card method to flash your new ROM, did you do a hard reset with your SD card inserted?
Second, do you have an SD card reader for your computer? I would probably try to verify that the file system and data are intact on your SD card. If you have an SD card reader, you can also use it to reformat your card.
If none of this is helpful, provide some more information to fill in the gap between your microSD card working properly and not showing up on your phone.
Re
I flashed to TPCV5.1 full today. No sd in my phone.
My cars reader in the computer doesn't recognise the sd card either.
Strange thing is , when i use an other 4 gig sd card, the phone still doesn't recognise it, my card reader on my computer does, so why not on my phone.
I had a 2 gig sd card, and put all the data again on it, and it's working.
Stilli have a problem that my phone won't recognise a 4 gig sd card.
So far my story.
Does seem odd. What file system is your 4GB card formatted with? If it shows up as "RAW" or anything, I would definately format it to FAT32.
Edit: I was referring to your "other" 4GB card. I don't think I have any advice for the original one.
Hi all. I just got a new X1 a few days ago. Pretty happy to have it, however, I'm having chronic problems flashing a rom on it using the micro SD method. I have a PNY Micro SD card, and after hard spl-ling my phone, I put a rom on the micro SD card in the root, renamed it to KOVSIMG.nbh, powered the phone off. Removed the battery and micro SD, reinserted everything, and when I powered it back up, I got the tri-colored screen, then it said no image file. For some reason, this PNY card isn't being recognized by my computer, so I can't reformat it with my computer. Can somebody please either tell me how to format the card on my X1 or direct me to the most current and reliable USB method thread please. Thanks.
[A] Micro SD Flashing method won't work
Hi x1-pc7,
try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787867
In Summary,
try to copy all your microsd contents somewhere else temporarily. e.g. your pc desk top
FORMAT you SD card as FAT or FAT32.
try the micro SD method.
sorry, i mis-read your post, you knew all that above...
To format your sd micro card, you would need a card reader to format your sd card.
card reader that handles the microsd, or put the micro sd into a sd card adapter, usually provided with the microsd card, and put this into a sd card reader.
Hope this helps!!
Have a Happy New Year!!

Listen. I said that my micro SD does not get recognized by my computer. I have an adapter, but my computer won't recognize it. Read the whole post, and please show me where it talks about how to use the USB method to flash because the micro SD method will absolutely not work for me.
Thanks.
Happy New Year to you too.
usb method is simple
just turn device off.push the volume bottom in(& keep it in) then push power & keep both in until bootloader screen appears.then connect to usb.run Xperia Software Upgrade...Done!

You could try to change your USB to PC setting to "Disk Drive" (Start » Settings » Connections). This way your phone will only show your microSD card instead of both internal memory and SD contents.
See if that enables you to format your SD card.

Not even without the X1, i.e. when using only your adapter?
Sounds like either the card or the adapter is broken - any chance to cross-check with another card/another PC?
Make sure your adapter can handle the card: (µ)SDHC cannot be read by older (µ)SD adapters....

Are you trying to flash your phone? If you do, have you copy the new ROM to the SD card? (in root, not in any folder) And rename the ROM to "KOVSimg.nbh"
Then the boot loader mode will detect the ROM and show instructions.
However, if you're not trying to flash your phone, you don't need to enter the boot loader mode. Just do battery pull, and start your phone normally.
not dev related, therefore moved to q&a
I wanted to make a SD card for gingerbread on nook color. Unfortunately the only way to get the computer to recognise the 16gb class 4 card is to have it in a phone. I have a Scandisk adapter and my computer has a slot to insert the SD slot on the PC but the PC will not recognise the card unless it is in a phone. what driver do I need to update toenable the computer to see the 16 gb class 4 memmory card?
Thanks
Walmart has a USB reader for $8.
I have the above memory card for my N7000 (Rocket Rom v3) and am having problems verifying its capacity.
H2testw (Windows utility) verified it as having no errors and as 32Gb
ES File Explorer's SD card analyst displays capacity as 11.06Gb
SD Tools displays capacity as 11.6Gb
I have tried copying music (21Gb) to the sdcard using two methods. Firstly connecting the phone as a media device which was very slow and started to throw up errors after a while. Then secondly by removing the SD card from the phone and plugging it into my laptop (Win7) which was far quicker. This second method didn't throw up any errors BUT when I put the card back into my phone no files were found!
I am beginning to think I have a fake SD card which when plugged straight into my laptop is telling it 'Yes I'm a 32GB card' but for some strange reason allows it to copy too many files to the card without complaint. I am going to do some tests to check this out.
In the meantime is there an alternative utility which is guaranteed to verify what my card is either on Android or MS?
Thanks
Please try to do a SD card format on your laptop before putting it in your phone
It might be an issue with its storage that is preventing android from detecting the full size
If that didn't work, try to format the memory card over the phone (using settings)
Best of luck

Okay there were 2 problems, the first one was getting the memory card to be read by my note which I've now managed to do, not sure what I did but there you go, but it certainly wasn't reading before.
The second problem and this is a little embarrassing but when ES File Explorer opens up it displays the contents of the "/sdcard/" by default which on my old desire was the external sdcard but on my note its the internal memory! Not the external sdcard! To view the external sdcard you need to navigate to "/storage/extSdCard/" which is downright misleading unless you come from a Unix mindset of course
SDTools just seems incapable of picking up the external SD card and can only see the internal memory.
