My friend has a jailbroken iPhone and has a really cool app called Cylay (if you don't know what it is, Google it. In essence, it's an anti-theft app that can do a bunch of cool stuff). I was wondering if there was an equivalent in the Market (I refuse to call it by its new name)?

A good one is SeekDroid.
It is on sale right now, you can locate phone, track it on a map, wipe the phone, etc. I think it is one worth looking at.
Preyproject.com has an app for android.
Actually, your HTC Sense account can do all that remote lock or wipe your phone, as well as geolocate via the website. It just has to be set up properly.

Well then, how do I "set it up properly"?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
I wouldn't go the HTC Sense route, they sent out an email telling me to download my data because it's shutting down for a overhaul. Google it, you'll see. Besides it says it doesn't support ICS at this time anyways.
I have SeekDroid & Avast installed on my Vivid. SeekDroid you can control from internet or another phone, Avast can only be done via another phone, but has more features.

That's the one! I've tried it and even went on to pretend my phone was lost/stolen, and was able to locate on a map on my laptop with and without GPS active. I think its awesome. Also its free if you use for 1 device (or one device per account).

Wheres my Droid pro is pretty nice, you can lock, unlock, make ring, locate, wipe phone, wipe SD, sim lock, and there's more stuff I just can't remember.
Oh and you can do this all via text message commands from any phone that texts, maybe even from sending a text via Facebook, or the wheres my Droid website if you set up commander.

a lady stole my friend sgs luckily she doesn't know how to use the phone at all, its been 3 weeks and i'm still trying to find where she lives
the phone still has the gmail account linked i installed plan b and androidlost but they both needs me to send a text message to activate them and i dont have her number
plan b doesnt seams to works as everyone knows that the sgs with stock rom has a very bad gps lock
my best lock will be with androidlost as it has many features
we already notified the police but with no info at all on her we wont be able to do anything
i would hope if there is any app that would send her phone number to he linked gmail account , or any other kind of apps that may help
The only apps that I know of that will do that are Avast! and Cerberus, but both have to be installed beforehand.
Don't know how to do what you want but i hope you removed any card details from your account so they cant buy things on the app store with your details.
Your gmail account should have the ip addresses it was accessed from this may be of use to the police. This can be found at the bottom right of your inbox.

What carrier is the phone with?
Sprint has a family locator plan that can be initiated remotely. I believe they offer a free 2 week trial.
You can try pulling the call history online with the carrier to get the numbers called
and even request that the phone be traced.
Samsung Galaxy SIII (SPH-L710)
Try to contact google, if you have a police report with the IMEI you might pull of a IP log of the people who accessed the acccount, from the you could go to the carrier company with your police report or the cops could do it and they'll be able to pull of her records by the IP.
I can't figure out why the US doesn't enfore locking the phones by IMEI, I remember my brand new iPhone was stolen last year and the cops couldn't do a thing. so I suggest you or your friend do this step by step and hope for the best.
sadly i dont live in the US so all these things are impossible , police wont do **** here , i'm still waiting for plan b to lock on gps but still no email , i'm keeping the gmail account still on the phone because it has no valuble info except for the contacts which are already backed up , and the person who stole the pone is so dump and cant even know how to install or uninstall apps

if only some one made an app that will look for a contact name and send an sms to it and the user can save that predefined contact to google contacts which will sync to the phone
so if the app is looking for Joe123 all you have to do is create a new contact in google contact with Joe123 and input you second phone number
then wait for it to sync with the stolen phone then install that app which will send you an sms with the theif number and possibly GPS if available
and once you get that number you can install androidlost and start controlling the phone
thats just an idea and i hope some one will make it true one day
I think the one WiredPirate linked to should work..
You can still install apps via the online play store can't you? Then why can't you install avast?

Leveraging the same Absolute persistence technology used in LoJackĀ® for Laptops, owners of Samsung GALAXY S4 will soon have an Android security software to recover their stolen smartphone. If stolen, only the Absolute Theft Recovery Team can help locate and return your smartphone. In addition, if the smartphone is lost, you can remotely delete files or lock the smartphone so nobody can access your stuff.

Definitely something worth checking into.
According to this article the functionality and apparently the app are part of the recent MF9 OTA update.

Phone theft is out of control,
especially when it leads to murder.
Lol haha I had to paste that...
This looks like what cerberus can do but cerberus is completely free. Why should I pay for this... well if I'm not rooted maybe just maybe I would buy this.

I could have really used this in June...I was on a cruise and my phone got stolen in a matter of minutes
Was watching a comedy show in the auditorium, left phone on chair to go get some napkins and boom...gone!!! i had lookout, but it doesn't do any good if there is no data in the open seas
At least with this, if they can't track it down, they will replace it
---------- Post added at 12:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:14 PM ----------
Also, would this work if we are rooted stock/rooted custom?
or do we have to be unrooted Stock?
Its probably for enterprise phones like businesses and corps. They are the ones who would pay for security. Apple has a new feature that to use the phone you must sign into your apple cloud account and it stores your phone data and such there. If someone pops out your sim and tries to use it they have to sign in and if would fail because that device registers with your account only. A FREE feature btw. Samsung google and apple had a meeting in nyc about theft and possibly a kill switch on phones.
The only downside is the kill switch will be controled by the carrier so they can shut you down if they wanted to. #NSA

it's also for personal users
I called them today and they said it won't work if you are rooted and they said they have some "persistant" thing that makes it install OTA. but if someone roots your phone and installs a custom rom it won't work....but i guess the benefit of this is that if it does get stolen, they will give you 90% of the value, which at this point is $600
Just curious, I saw the knox app om all international and Tmobile versions but I cant find it on my att version. BY Knox I mean the secure profile switcher.
Update 1 :
Koars215 received a correspondence from Samsung:
"after days on days of speaking with att and samsung... corporate finally spilled the beans lol this is coming from samsung mouth the agent told me that att push the device for purchased and did not look over the software in full before putting it on the shelf. They said the reason we can see the knox app in the installation manager is because by default it should be. Also its something that cant be found on its samsung app market place.
END RESULT: Samsung said within the next 1-2 weeks it will push a software update for At&t and t-mobile(i had no clue t-mobile was having the same issue)"
Update 2:
Get the knoxstub.apk from note 3 international and placed it in system after being rooted and now knox is working perfect. Tnx to cburnett
Update 3:
Knoxstub is attached. Tested and it works :good: Tnx to cburnett for the file.
Just open the apk and install normally and let it do its thing.
Exactly I can't find it either.

Me neither. It's strange
To activate it go to Security>Device Administrators.
Word to the wise, if you care about Root or Bootloader Unlock; becareful. No one really knows what Knox changes hardware wise, IF it even changes anything hardware wise and software wise.
Unfortunately there's no way for us on AT&T N3 to disable it completely. But so far, it's not running on mine.

Guys Knox is not an app. It's a security protocol that keeps your information private and also your activity. Anything done in Knox, stays in Knox. Once it's activated it's on and monitors your security.
Here's some more information on how it works.... http://www.samsung.com/global/business/mobile/solution/security/samsung-knox
At&t Note III...& At&t G Pro
mine don't work either
@Jammol your wrong on the the other company's such as sprint there is an/a app on the home screen that allows you to place things inside the container and also Knox have its own store with supported apps. I was on the phone with Samsung advanced tech support and they were scratching their head on why it isn't installed on the device but it is found in the installation manager
I said its not an app because I don't classify it as one. Yes its a container, an environment, an app.

I will keep you guys updated this will be round 2 with advance tech support (samsung+att)... My guess is if others are having this problem that they will end up pushing a update that fixes this problem. My buddy got the Note 3 for sprint and i saw that its visible from the home screen and had to download the knox store onto the note 3. When i later got my note 3 from att that was the first app i looked for and i wasn't available.

I just picked up the Note 3 yesterday and when setting up my e-mail it is not giving me an option to push my hotmail e-mail to the phone. The lowest variable is 15 min. Is this true? or am I missing something?
